Chapter One

Voyage

It is the year 3235 of the 33rd century, the planet once known as Earth has long since changed thanks to a nuclear apocalypse. It is now known as Mobius, home of the anthropomorphic animal race of Mobians who co-exist with the humans.

Mobius has become so scientifically advanced over the years to a point where space exploration is possible, the United Federation has made exploring the galaxy and finding new worlds in hopes of making contact with alien life its top objective and goal.

Our story begins in deep space, where we find the R.S.S Gerald making its long return trip to Mobius after a very long voyage across the stars, its crew having just explored new worlds and had many amazing adventures for over four months.

Aboard the R.S.S Gerald, in a spacious metal room, we find world hero Sonic the Hedgehog, his girlfriend Amy Rose and G.U.N agents Shadow the Hedgehog and Rouge the Bat sharing a decent space meal.

With them at the table sit French accented astronaut Francois Wolf, wearing a black T shirt and brown pants, famous British astronomer Ann the Cat and Dyson Griffith, an air force captain and famed space explorer.

Both of them had met weeks prior to the mission, Sonic had taken a few trips into space himself during his adventures over the years. When he had been asked to take part in the Gerald Mission, he was interested at the thought of a space adventure.

Francois had been going into space since he was 21 years old, but most of his space journeys had never gone further than beyond the solar system, mostly sticking as close to Mobius as possible VIA the Mobian Space Station or the moon.

Ann had never gone into space before, but when she became an astronomer, it was all part of realizing her dream of going into space to study the cosmos and get to meet extraterrestrial life far beyond the planet.

Captain Griffith had been part of the Mobius Space Program from the beginning as far back as his high school days, even following in his pop Jack Griffith's footsteps. He'd also been part of G.U.N since he graduated from college.

Sonic scarfed down a yummy chili dog while Amy slowly dug into her soft served ice cream, she and Sonic had been dating for ages now and so were Shadow and Rouge. Close by in the eating room, a digital clock ticked, counting down the minutes while another clock counted down the days until the ship had reached Mobius.

Sonic couldn't wait to get back home, he was mostly worried about the possibility that Doctor Eggman had launched an attack and had conquered a piece of territory for his growing Eggman Empire, which Sonic had opposed for a long time.

Finishing their meal and cleaning up, the group sat down in the ship's comfy lounge, which had been designed to look like a relaxing house pad that Sonic liked and compared to the living room in his old house back on Mobius.

"Why can't ze ship speed up and get us home faster?" Francois asked anxiously, he was getting a bit tired of being in space, "I have my limits when it comes to being in space even though I am an astronaut and space is my favorite."

"I almost agree with Francois." Sonic said with exhaustion, "This may be the last time I'll ever agree to go on a space voyage for a while. There's nothing much we can do, I like fast paced adventures and epic action, I thrive on all that."

"Have you ever tried to slow down and enjoy life, Sonic?" Shadow asked.

"Yeah, don't worry about it." Rouge chimed in.

"Its fine, guys." Amy interjected, "My Sonic has preferences."

Just then, a P.A system blared and the ship's computer buzzed, "We are coming up on an unidentified planet. A new planet is close by, one we have not explored before. Will the crew of the ship report to the bridge as soon as possible?"

Sonic jumped from his seat, "New planet's been found. Ah yeah, sounds like we got a fun adventure comin' up. Let's see what the planet is and go check it out, I'm always looking forward to exploring new, cool and tubular places."

Everyone rolled their eyes. "Same old Sonic." Amy remarked.
