NOTES: Please read. In this AU, they are humans.

1) I always write in script form. If you don't like it, then that's fine.

2) Some characters may be OTT (Over The Top) or OOC (Out of Character). It is a fanfiction afteral.

3) Normally my stories end up being M-Rated, but for now, it'll be T-rated.

4) I always put warnings on my summaries (Normally after a few chapters) and the beginning of each chapter if I feel it necessary, so not to offend/upset anyone. If you read this or any other of my stories and get offended, then that's your fault.

5) I don't own the characters, they belong to Cartoon Network.

6) Expect grammar and spelling issues but I'll try and keep it to a minimum. (I also use English spellings not American) but I try to keep the lingo…

7) I'm more of a dialog writer, so don't expect anything spectacularly descriptive

8) In this story, Pink Diamond is Spinel's mother and obviously Rose is Steven's mother. They are not the same person in this story.

Chapter 1

It was a beautiful day in Beach City, more so beautiful where Steven lived, his very own beach house condo and the view was something out of a painting: Gold surrounding sands, clear skies, which it was most days and crystal gem clear water.

Steven is 23 and even at that age he has accomplished a lot, he's already the world's greatest psychiatrist. This was something he wanted to do all his life…he loved helping people and loved solving their problems before his…that was just how he was.

Steven was still asleep…that is, until his alarm on his phone was ringing, while charging in a socket. He slowly stirred…and turned around. He opened his eyes only so slightly, as the sun's rays beamed through his window. He squinted, as he was barely awake and reached for his phone, pulling it away from the adapter.

His phone had a little wake-up message on it: "6:30 it's Another Happily Ever After Day". Though still squinting, he smiled.

STEVEN: It sure is…

His brushed his finger across the screen to deactivate the alarm…and put his phone down. Steven slowly sat up and rubbed his eyes, trying to make his vision less blurry. He sighed. He then turns his head to the window, almost blinded by the sun's rays.

STEVEN: Another day and a beautiful one at that, it seems.

Steven climbed out of bed, wearing only his boxers, showing off his well-built figure…if only to himself, as he casually looked in the mirror, while walking past it. He looked out the window…and sure enough, the beautiful exotic surroundings were the same as they always were. He smiled and then walked into the bathroom, to have a quick shower.

After the warm, relaxing shower…he dried himself off and soon wrapping the towel around his waist to clean his teeth. He squeezed the tube as the paste settled onto his toothbrush and began cleaning his teeth. He was brushing for a few seconds until a little thought came to his head…and began talking to himself, looking in the bathroom wall mirror.

STEVEN: Yep. Just…another day. (He turned to look at his apartment from the bathroom door. He then sighs)…alone…

The beach condo apartment was clearly two big for him, but with the amount of money he was making, it was no surprise to purchase this place…even he needed somewhere to relax and chill after work…but in hindsight, it was too big. Buying this place was probably the only time he felt selfish…but even his friends were say:

"Treat yourself, you deserve it"…

"You must think of yourself for once"…

Well, they were mainly words from his best friend, Connie.

There was nothing wrong having time to yourself but sometimes it would be nice to have company that wasn't work related…and Connie was a professional surgeon and was always on call.

Steven normally had this time to let go of any negative thoughts, before he started work…and it was just the fact, that his best friend was always busy. They were sort of going out…but because of their work schedules and time differences, their relationship didn't seem to be in the boyfriend/girlfriend category. This was no fault from anybody…that was just…life.

It was a Friday night though and Steven decided, right there and then, to go visit Connie after work. Normally Connie would finish about 6ish but working in a hospital meant that time was unpredictable…but that didn't stop Steven from taking that chance and surprise her…even if it was just a brief meeting. Steven finishes at 5pm, so it was perfect…sometimes.

Steven exhaled through his nose and continued getting ready.

A few minutes later, he was changed into his uniform…unlike other psychiatrists that wore dull looking, and probably expensive suits or dresses…he wore something causal and friendly looking. He'd wear clean blue denim jeans, a black shirt with a big yellow star printed on it…and a pink jacket. To other people this may seem weird but to Steven, he wanting his patients and clients to see him as a friend and not just a stiff in a suit…and it was little touches like that, that helped him become the best, aside from listening and giving advice.

He used to have an office in small town, that was part of Beach City…but Steven found it too much of a cliché and decided to set up a happy office in his own condo, which he built himself…and with the help of his dad, Greg.

Steven checked his watch…he was still early to see patients. He'd start a 8am…and he still had time. He always made sure to speak to a client for two hours, as an hour didn't seem long enough…it was also up to the person if they didn't want to stay that long and would only charge up until that time…and he was very affordable, despite all this, he didn't get many clients…mainly because he was so good at his job, the client would leave feeling refresh and looked at the world in a different light...no matter what they were feeling…even suicidal clients, which obviously would take longer and more appointments…and yet, he manages to make them feel good about themselves.

Steven was in a financially one of the richest people in Beach City, so even if he had no clients, he didn't mind…

Just then, his phone went off…and then looked at his watch.

STEVEN: Probably a booking. It's early but, I'll take it. Happy to help in any way.

As he got closer to the phone…he noticed the name "Peridot" and a green gem which appeared on his screen. Steven picked it up…a little concerned.

STEVEN: Huh. Peridot. She never calls me…last time she did that was because of "Eyeball" Ruby…

Steven didn't want to leave this caller hanging, so he answered and pressed the phone against his ear.

STEVEN: Uh, Hi, Peridot…long time, no see, huh…?

PERIDOT: Hello, Dr Universe.

STEVEN: (Chuckles) You don't have to call me Dr Universe, Peridot, it's Steven, you know that. Steven's fine.

PERIDOT: This is more of a professional call, Dr Universe. Not pleasure…

STEVEN: (Sighs) Okay, "Ms Green", what's up.

PERIDOT: I have a new client for you to see. It's a rather interesting patient.

STEVEN: Well, okay then, send her my way.

PERIDOT: I'm afraid not, it's best you come down here and see for yourself.

STEVEN: Why can't see come here?

PERIDOT: Well, she's a little…strange. She's dangerous.

STEVEN: Well, you do keep the strange ones.

PERIDOT: I would appreciate if you came here, Dr Universe. I believe your methods would be of great help.

STEVEN: Okay. I'll be there soon.

PERIDOT: Thank you. Goodbye.

Peridot hangs up, leaving Steven without a chance to reply.

STEVEN: Uh, bye then…

Steven puts his phone in his pocket and then goes and grabs his keys and wallet.

It didn't take long for Steven to drive to his destination, since Peridot's work place was just a few minutes and it was quicker by car. He pulled up to a large building. It was a building for the mentally challenged. An institute. Steven rarely came here and it was only for extreme cases. Most of the patients were gone from this world but he always found ways to communicate to them.

A few minutes later, Steven had gone through security which was protocol and walked down a few corridors, he'd see a few doctors and nurses and even some patients that were allowed to wonder…it was like a huge maze of white and grey walls but eventually, he came across Peridot's room…but noticed the receptionist outside her office wasn't there, so he straight away knocked on the door.

But there was no response…

STEVEN: Peridot…?

He knocked again…a tad louder but it didn't seem to make a difference.

STEVEN: Peridot, it's Steven. Uh, Dr Universe.

He knocked again but decided to help himself in, it was unlike Peridot to be unresponsive, unless she was on her walks, checking the patients…but she wouldn't do that if she was meeting someone.

Steven pushed the door open.

STEVEN: Uh, Peridot…?

At a quick glance, he saw Peridot kissing a woman, with long and messy hair, in the back and fringe, while the bangs on the sides of her face are a little shorter, and a light blue dress. Peridot screamed in shock as she saw Steven enter, gently pushing the blue dressed woman back…and dusting herself.

PERIDOT: (Badly pretends not to see Steven) So uh, uh…that, t-that…that is how we…uh, resuscitate s-someone if they are unconscious, after you, uh press down on their c-chest...while they are…o-on the floor, of course. (The blue dress woman giggles) Oh. Steven…you're here. Well, that will be all, Ms Lazuli, thank you…

Steven tried not to smile…or smirk for that matter. The blue dress woman didn't seemed to be shamed but instead smiled as she walked past Steven.

STEVEN: Good morning, Lapis.

LAPIS: Morning, Steven.

STEVEN: (Whispers) So, my advice worked then…?

LAPIS: (Whispers back) Like a charm. I'll have her over that desk in no time~

This made Steven blush a little, it was information we didn't have to hear.

STEVEN: Good to know.

Lapis turned and winked at Peridot, who was now blushing bright red and embarrassed. Peridot was still sorting out her green suit jacket and straitening her tight matching green short skirt and then straitening her round, tinted yellow glasses. As soon as Lapis left, Steven closed the door and just smiled wildly at Peridot.

STEVEN: Professional business, was it?

PERIDOT: You should've knocked!

STEVEN: I did, like three times.

PERIDOT: Well…w-well, you should've knocked louder!

STEVEN: (Chuckles) Good to see you're getting on well with your personal receptionist.

PERIDOT: (Sits down) That's not of your business but…y-yes, we are.

STEVEN: (Helps himself to sit as well) That's good. Tell me, how does it make you feel…?

PERIDOT: You are not here to discuss about me, you…clod, you're here to see a patient.

STEVEN: I can do both.

PERIDOT: No! Ugh…calling you was a mistake.

STEVEN: (Hands up) Okay, okay. I was only playing. So…who is this new patient then?

PERIDOT: (Grabs a file on her desk and opens it up) Well, like I said on the phone, she's an interesting case. She's been here for a week but already she's proven to be…rather difficult to handle.

STEVEN: Difficult, eh…?

PERIDOT: Yes…this patient suffers from split personality disorder. That's-

STEVEN: (Interrupts) A mental disorder where a person has two or more distinct personalities. The thoughts, actions, and behaviours of each personality may be completely different. Trauma often causes this condition, particularly during childhood…yes, I know what it is.

PERIDOT: I figured you might.

STEVEN: Can I see her…now?

PERIDOT: Don't you want to know more about this patient before you see her…?

STEVEN: You can walk and talk me through it.

After a few more corridors, they were coming to a secluded and security filled part of the building, a place where they keep the most dangerous and uncontrollable patients in the institution. The corridor seemed a lot quieter than the others, which was more chilling. Peridot was walking in front of Steven, while the young man was reading through the notes. They had a female security bodyguard follow them, who was well built, black skinned face, wearing a grey security uniform and black trousers, and colourful rainbowed dreadlocks in her hair.

STEVEN: "Spinel" Wow, that's a nice name. (Keeps reading) "Sex: Female. Age: 21. Spouse: Mother, Pink Diamond. Father, unknown". Hmm.

PERIDOT: Keep reading.

STEVEN: (Gets more shocked as he reads on) "A history of violence, put in the point of view as someone else…this alter ego was arrested for stabbing, who she claimed to be a look-a-like…of her mother. My God…(Keeps reading)…"She doesn't remember a thing in the police report but this become evident when her mother is mention. A police office was attacked during interrogation, the office has his ear…bitten off…"

PERIDOT: Luckily the woman who was stabbed, survived…

STEVEN: Wow…

PERIDOT: (Stops walking and turns to Steven) Think your methods can help her?

STEVEN: Well…these are just words on a piece of paper. It's easier for me to analyse if I see her…and listen to her.

PERIDOT: (Half grin) Hmph. (Takes the file off Steven) Well…this is her door.

Steven and Peridot were standing outside a white door, which had a round window. Peridot moved out of the way and Steven slowly looked through the window…he could see a young woman, sitting on the floor, in a padded room, with her back to him. She was wearing, from what he could tell, a consistent of a plum-coloured top shirt, pointed hot pink sleeves, puffy magenta shorts, hot pink wrist-length gloves, white stockings, and a pair of magenta knee-high pointy boots. Her hair was red, which looked dyed…and made into pig-tails. The patient was giggling, but not in a weird way…which was weird. From the angle Steven was looking, it looked like she was doing something to her face…there was a massacre box next to her after all.

STEVEN: Does she know we're here…?

Peridot rolled her eyes and pressed a button, that was on the wall, which was a inter-com next to the door, it buzzed for a few seconds.

PERIDOT: Spinal. You have a visitor…? Don't be rude and say "Hello", to our guest.

SPINEL: Is it…mom…?

PERIDOT: (Sighs) No, it's-

STEVEN: (Interrupts) Hi, my name is Steven. I'm a friend.…(Peridot hates it when he does that)

SPINEL: …A friend…?

STEVEN: Yeah. A friend…I'd…I'd like to talk to you, for a while. Would you like that?

SPINEL: (Stops with the eye-liner pencil) That's nice….yes…

Spinel puts the eye-liner pencil down and slowly stands up…she then slowly turns around, revealing her eyes were high-lighted more through the eye-liner and she had beautiful magenta eyes, a small but cute pointy nose…but what was weird, was that her cheeks had black lines down them, obviously caused and drawn by her. She smiled wildly.

SPINEL: I'd love to make a new friend.

When she fully turned, facing Steven…he noticed she had a big heart printed on her shirt, which seemed to look tight because of her bust.

And for a second…if not longer, Steven only saw…beauty.

End of Chapter.

NOTES: I'm about to finish another story, so not sure when this will get updated, shouldn't be long. Hopefully a new chapter next weekend.
