-Couple hours before-
"Have you finally realized your love for me, my Starship?" Thomas asked as he stepped out of the portal with his hands out in a hug walking towards Star.
"Yeah.. no," Star said pushing Tom away, "Look, I need your help. Marco is missing and you're the only person that can help me... I hope."
Tom started to flame up at the mention of the boy who ruined his date but calmed down after seeing Stars crestfallen face. Tom knew what he did to Star in the past was wrong, and he wanted to make amends for what he did.
"Ok, I'll help," Tom said softly, "what do you need?"
Star immediately perked up. "REALLY," Star coughed after realizing her overreaction," I mean thank you Thomas," Star said as she curtsied.
Star walked to her book with Tom following and Star started explaining, "Ok, ok, so I was looking through my book and found this. 'Everbonding Bloodmoon' Tom flinched at remembering that night. "What does this mean?" She finished looking at Tom.
Tom sighed he knew he was going to have to explain it sooner or later. "Do you remember that night? The night I invited you to the ball?" Star nodded. "Well I was trying to get our souls bonded together," Tom closed his eyes expecting to get hit with a Narwhal but just heard a single
"Why?"
"No offense but you know I hate you, right?" Star said just looking at him.
"Yeah", Tom rubbed his neck awkwardly. "Well anyways the binding is supposed to be for the people who are meant to be, and that was my hope..."
Star stood there in shock. She and Marco were supposed to be? She felt extremely giddy but dread at the same time because of Jackie.
He continued, "The bond is supposed to give you special powers with it. You can sort of feel the other person. I'm not sure what it mean I just skimmed through it. All I cared about was bonding us."
Star just stood there not knowing what to do. This was her chance. And she had to take it, now. She grabbed Tom's hand and ran to Marco's room
"Star what are you doing," Tom asked as she ripped open Marco's closet looking for a hoodie. When she found the one she wanted she started to sniff.
"Star!?" Tom asked even more confused.
But at the time Star wasn't listening. Only thinking of Marco. She started to feel something... fear. She felts Marco's fear. What were they doing to him? She took one more big sniff and concentrated.
Tom watched Star stand up and look at him.
She spoke,
"He's on Mewni."
Star stepped out of the portal onto the hard stone floor of the castle. And the feeling of fear increased, and she knew why.
"MARCO," she yelled trying to run to him as she saw his eyes turn black. Toffee simply smacked her away and she flew into the far wall.
"Now, Now Princess Star it's rude to interrupt a conversation like that. Did Saint O's teach you anything?
"What did you do to Marco?" she asked in a strained voice as Tom helped her up.
"Oh, the boy simply had too much... what's the word? Oh, right will power. Just to make it a bit easier."
"Easier to what?" Star asked finally up.
"To control him of course... Attack."
Star and Tom barely dodged out of the way of the attack, as she got showered with debris from the impact hitting one of the pillars and causing a hole to open in the roof. She tried to talk him out of it.
"Marco, you need to stop it's me Star," she dodges another attack,"Remember the night when I first came and we watched the movies?"
Star looked into his eyes hoping to see some kind of recognition, but there was nothing just the dark and cold eyes of her friend. Star realized that she had to stop holding back.
"I'm sorry Marco, NARWHAL BLAST!"
Marco tried to knock away the magical fish flying at him but only managed to get some of them as he flew backward.
"Marco please I don't want to fight you," Star pleaded as he started getting back up. Just before he got up Star launched another attack.
"Raspberry Ribbon Lasso!" she yelled as bright pinkish-red tendrils escape from her wand heading towards her friend.
This time Marco was ready. He finished getting up and simply sidestepped the tendril heading towards him. With his one non-tentacle arm he grabbed the tendril with surprising strength and pulled Star towards him.
Star, caught off guard, got pulled towards him. Marco's tentacle arm extended out reaching for her. Star tried to break off the spell but just before she was going to get grabbed fire surrounded Marco. Startled, Marco dropped the ropes as coffins emerged from the ground around him.
The coffins surround Marco locking him in his prison. As the coffins were starting to go back down Star turned back to Tom, "What did you do?" Did you kill him!?" She yelled at him.
"Star, don't worry its only to-" he was cut off but the sound of cracking. They both turned to see the coffins cracking "Oh no," Tom whispered
Tom and Star got blown back as Marco broke free from his makeshift prison. Both Tom and Star looked up at Marco in fear, nothing they have done has worked they didn't know what to do.
"Alright enough playtime," Toffee said finally after watching silently in the back, "Finish them."
Marco looked down on the two as the monster arm rose to finish them. Tom closed his eyes waiting for an impact when he heard Star jump up. He opened his eyes to see Star wrapping her arm around Marco.
"Please Marco stop," she whimpered holding on to him tighter. Tom saw as the monster arm was going to swipe at Star and was going to try to save her until a red flash filled the room from the hole above.
Star got pushed away as Marco started to writher around. She watched as the Monster arm slowly started to shrivel up and slowly start to fade away.
"You may have gotten rid of me now but I'll be back. I'll be bac-," the monster arm said as it faded away. The girl looked up at Marco and no longer saw the dark cold eyes just his bright brown eyes. She pulled him into a tight hug.
"Star?"
"Marco you're back!," she yelled as she held him tighter. Marco wasn't what was going on he just woke up to Star hugging him and so he just stood there.
"What's going on?"
Star let go of him, "Marco you were taken over by the arm and you were trying to kill us. "
"Us?" Marco looked over Star's shoulder to see the demon behind her.
"Hey," Tom said giving a small wave.
"Oh man, I'm so sorry princess," Marco said looking back at Star with hurt in his eyes.
"Its ok Marco its my fault I didn't look into the spell more," Star said trying to reassure the boy.
He smiled, "So, what n-"
"Alright enough chit chat," Toffee said breaking off the conversation by grabbing Marco by the neck with his tail.
"Let Marco go!" Star said raising her wand.
"Face it princess you have no more strength to fight me. Sure, that was a nice little trick to get rid of my puppet but face it. You lost," Toffee said as he tightened his grip around the struggling boy.
Star looked at Marco as his face was slowly getting more and more purple trying to figure out what to do, and then she realized there is only one this she can do. She tossed the wand at his feet.
"Here take it and let Marco go," she said with tears in her eyes.
"Star don't," Marco managed to croak out.
Toffee once again tightening a bit tighter, "Silence you," he looked back at Star, "I don't want your wand. Destroy it."
"But I don't know how."
"Oh yes you do, it was one of the first spells your mother taught you. You better hurry I don't think Marco here is gonna last much longer."
Star realized what she needed to do. She picked up her wand and started whispering to it. Slowly the wand started to lose its color until it faded to a dull grey. She dropped the wand as a little unicorn went around her head whispering to her. She went wide-eyed at what it said.
Once it disappeared she looked up at Toffee tears flowing more freely now, "Now let Marco go."
"Very well," Toffee said as he dropped Marco's unconscious body onto the floor. Star immediately grabbed him and dragged him towards Tom. She yelled at him, "Quickly open a portal back to Earth."
Tom did so promptly and the three teens dove into the portal leaving the lizard by himself with the now-shaking wand.
Toffee looked down at the wand with a smile. "Very good princess, you did well." Toffee jumped ever so slightly when a beam of light starting firing out of the wand.
"Well this is goodbye for now Star Butterfly," Toffee said as the wand exploded leaving nothing behind.
The wand and Toffee were gone.
