-Dimension: Earth-
Star, Marco, and Tom came flying out of the portal one by one falling into a dog pile.
"Ow, that hurt a lot more than I thought it would," Tom said getting himself up from the floor rubbing his head," Right? Starship."
He turned and looked at Star still holding the unconscious Marco in her arms trying to shake him awake.
"Come on wake up, wake up Marco," her voice edging full-on crying," You're safe now come on just wake up."
As her eyes start to fill with tears Tom came and put a supporting hand on her shoulder. This broke Star, setting down the boy Star jumped into Tom hugging him full-on crying now.
Tom, still having feelings for Star, pushed down any thoughts he had about her and hesitantly hugged her back. Not trying to get her affection but as a comforting gesture, as a friend.
Of course, he wasn't happy with this but what could he do. He knew Star and Marco were meant to be and the blood moon proved that. There was nothing he could do except support her.
Once Star finally calmed down she looked up to Tom with tears still in her eyes," W-What if he's dead."
He grabbed her by the shoulders, "Star, don't be dramatic you know that not true. You should know the most that it will take more than that to kill him. For crying out loud he tried to fight me after I threatened to kill him with fire, twice."
This managed to get a giggle out of her. She wiped her eyes and then brought her eyes to Marco.
"Yeah you're right," she looked back at Tom, "I'm sorry for being overdramatic and sorry for dragging you into this."
"It's ok. What are friends for," he opened his arms, "Friends?"
Star smiled and returned the hug
"Friends."
Star feeling better went back to Marco, "Ok Tom can you help me bring Marco to the couch?" He walked over.
"Ok, you grab his legs. On 3. 3..2..1...hngg," They manage to get him on the couch, "Oh man I thought he would be lighter," Star said wiping her brow.
"No kidding. So what now," Tom said looking at Star.
She thought for a moment and then started for the kitchen.
"Mrs. Diaz ? Mrs. Diaz are you in here? Huh, she's not here," she calls out and then sees a note on the fridge.
'Out grocery shopping for taco night. Love, mom.'
"Hmm, she not here either," she said to herself. She sighed. She knew there was only one option left but she didn't want to leave Marco alone. She looked to Tom.
"Tom, I'm gonna need you to tell my parents about what happened and get them here. I would do it but I don't want to leave Marco and I don't think I can face my parents right now."
He simply nodded, "No problem, I guess I'll be back in a bit, cya." He walked back into the living room to get a bit more space and opened another fire portal. He turned around to look at Star and then at Marco once more and then walked into the portal.
As soon as Tom left Star was back at Marco's side trying to talk to him to get back up.
"Come on Marco this isn't funny anymore get up," she shook him again.
Giving up she sat on the floor crossing her arms. She thought back about the things she's done with Marco and Marco in general.
Why did she even like him he was mean and rude all the time. Never calling her by her name just was 'princess'. She didn't understand it herself.
She guesses that he reminded her of her past. When she was more reckless and free. And that Marco wasn't that much of a bad boy he took himself to be. He did have a good heart under all the 'bad boy'.
Her next thought made her blush the most. She eyed him questioning if she should do it or not. Gathering her courage she pushed herself to do it.
And she started to lean towards his face...
Jackie was confused. Today was Marco's boxing match but he was a no-show. He would never skip(except for school) he finished every fight.
She tried to call him multiple times but all she got were a voice mail. She didn't know what was happening. She went to his house earlier only to find Mrs. Diaz leaving the house. When she asked about Marco she said he was out at the time. So she decided to go look for him.
She had looked for him all over but not a sign. She had no idea what was going on. She grunted.
"It's probably that weird blonde girl," she huffed to herself.
"Ever since that exchange student came Marco has been spending less time with me," she said to herself and started thinking. He even went to The Pier without me and went with her instead. Sure he hung out with her the rest of the day but he wasn't there mentally. He seemed restless. She kissed him but he didn't kiss back.
When questioning him about it he didn't answer just saying sorry and then heading home.
And it was all her fault. That stupid exchange student was the reason Marco was being weird.
Even if Marco wasn't home she had to be and she was gonna pay.
Jackie rushed over to Marco's house with fire in her eyes. When she made it to the door she reached for the handle. Then she stopped she started thinking if she was going to regrets this. She shook her head and threw the uncertainty away and threw the door open. She went wide eye at what she saw.
Star was kissing the still unconscious Marco basking in a ruby red light that was coming in through the window.
Jackie stood there shocked she didn't know what to do. She felt her anger grow and a fire lit underneath her, literally.
She jumped out of the way of the fire pillar that just appeared in the middle of the living room. Still sitting on the floor she stared awestruck at a Demon and two people who looked to be a king and queen stepped out of the portal. She continued to stay there as she watched the three walk towards Marco.
Who were these people why were they all at Marco's house? Why did they appear from a fire? Hundreds of questions went through her head. She had no idea what was going on.
"Star are you alright, dear," Queen Moon asked her daughter
"Yes, yes, I'm fine mother," Star replied getting up wiping her hands on her dress smoothing out the wrinkles.
"You do look rather red, are you sure," King River pitched in.
Star panicked happy that her parents didn't see what she was doing with the boy moments before.
"Yes I'm fine father, enough about me we need to find a way to wake up Marco," she said quickly trying to change the subject.
"Well he looks mighty awake to me," River said looking down at the boy.
Star spun around to see Marco starring at her.
"Star? What hap-," he was cut of by Star throwing her arms around him and crying out, "Oh, Marco you're awake, Thank Stump, you're awake!"
In truth, Marco had been awake for a while. For a while, he was just floating endlessly in his mind feeling that it was the end for him. He saw a light and was heading towards it but just before he reached it a brighter red light glowed behind him beckoning him to it.
He listened and when he reached the comforting red light he awoke. Awoke to Star's lips on his. He had no idea what was going on and out of sheer embarrassment, he laid still not moving or opening his eyes. It wasn't until the portal opened that he had a chance to open up his eyes.
"Um yeah, I'm awake," he said patting her back awkwardly still embarrassed from the kiss. He looked around the room to see for formal-looking people and Tom in the room.
"What happened to me?"
Tom stepped forward, "Dude, that lizard dude knocked you out. You were out for a good while," Tom said while also giving Marco a look.
Realizing why the demon was looking at him like that. He looked down.
"Ahem, well I'm fine now so um, princess, can you let go of me now?"
Star jumped up face as red as before. "OH, ehe sorry," she rubbed the back of her neck. Moon and River gave a knowing look to each other with a little smile.
No one said a word for a while until Queen Moon spoke up. "So now that is out of the way we need to talk about what happened. To start off, Marco," Marco sat up from up on the couch," did you manage to catch the name of the monster that kidnapped you?"
Marco thought for a moment and then reached into his pockets pulling out a card, "Yeah he gave me this." He handed the card to Moon. She grabbed the card and she gasped immediately putting a hand to her mouth.
"Toffee"
River's eyebrows scrunched up, "That lizard, I thought we got rid of him long ago." "So did I," Moon responded.
Meanwhile, throughout this whole commotion, Jackie still hid in the back her amount of questions rising by the minute. She didn't want to get involved in what was happening and she didn't want to continue seeing Star look at Marco like how she was supposed to.
She started to crawl to the door. Just as she was reaching the doorknob she heard a voice call out to her.
"Jackie?"
She turned around to see everyone's attention on her. "Um, I-I was just wondering where you were Marco but you seem busy right now so I'm just gonna go," she looked at Marco one more time with her eyes full of hurt.
She bolted out the door running away.
"Jackie! Wait," Marco got up ignoring his injured body, and chased after her. Star went to go follow until her mother stopped her, "They need their time to talk and so do we."
Jackie sat on the bench in the abandoned park. The sun was set and the night had come so the was no one in the park having fun. So it was just her.
Why did she run away like that? She could have left like a normal person but no, she had to make a scene. She buried her face into her hands. She sat there no tears just sat until she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Whew, finally caught up to you."
She looked up to see Marco, clearly tired but he tried to hide it badly. She chuckled at him trying to remain tough. But then she remembers what happened at his house.
"Shouldn't you be hanging out with your other girlfriend?" she snapped at him. Marco stepped back shocked but regained his composure.
"Who, Star? No. She's just a friend I would never, she would never want to date me anyway."
"You know that's not true. What about that kiss huh?
Marco froze not knowing what to say.
Jackie gave him a hurt look. "So you were awake and just let it happen. If you really didn't think of her like that you would have pushed her away," Tears finally started to fall from her face, "Or you would have hung out with me that day you went to The Pier. Or even afterward you wouldn't have gone home early to see if she was okay. What about then did you not 'like' her then either!"
Jackie let the words flow all the stress she had been feeling for the past couple of weeks coming out. When she had finished she was out of breath and tears flowing freely.
"Jackie, I'm so sorry. I-"
She held her hand up stopping him. She looked up at him. The determination in her eyes startled Marco a bit.
"You need to choose. Me, your girlfriend that you've known for years, or Star, a girl that you've only know for a couple of weeks."
Marco's mouth hung open. He couldn't speak he else could it be. It had to be Jackie, right? He didn't know what to do. So he said the first person who came to mind.
"Jackie, I choose..."
Marco walked into the house with a weight lifted off his shoulders. But as soon as he walked in his mood was immediately ruined.
"Star we were thinking about you coming back to Mewni."
"Wait What!" Marco yelled behind the royals startling them since they didn't know he was there, "She can't go!"
"Calm down Marco let us finish," River said trying to calm the boy down.
"As I was saying," Moon continued, "We were thinking of you coming back to Mewni," she looked at Star warmly," but you clearly like it here, for many reasons," she glanced at Marco, "so you can stay."
"YES!"
Marco and Star said at the same time pumping their fists into the air.
"Well, now that we are done here we'll be on our way."
"Oh no you don't," they heard a voice behind them. They looked towards the door.
"It's taco Tuesday there's no way Star's familia is gonna leave." Mr. Diaz said behind her with groceries.
"What's a taco?" Moon whispered to River.
After Queen Moon and King River left their daughter in that strange but cozy dimension and Mr. and Mrs. Diaz had both gone to bed, it was just Star and Marco in the living room watching a movie with a bowl of nachos between them.
Neither of them said a word about what happened tonight, even though both wanted to. They had no idea where to start, but Marco mustered up the courage.
"So... Um... What did you talk to your parents about?" he asked giving glances at her it was too hard to make eye contact.
Star was startled by Marco suddenly breaking the silence. She answered awkwardly, " You know... stuff," she shook her head," Sorry, I mean we talked about Toffee and what happened to my wand."
"What did they say?"
"I expected them to be mad but they were just glad I was safe. They said they would investigate the castle. They also asked me what I liked about Earth," She looked to her left to see Marco staring at her. They held their stare for a couple of seconds before breaking off, both blushing.
"What about you? How did it go with Jackie?"
Star saw Marco's face show a flash of hurt.
"Um... Jackie and I... w-we broke up."
Star just stared. She didn't know what to feel, she felt bad for Marco since he and Jackie have been dating for a while but on the other, she felt incredibly happy she finally had her chance.
"Why"
"Star, it was your fault."
Star looked hurt. She was gonna say something but Marco continued.
"and also my fault... Star..."
They both looked up at each other staring into each other's eyes. It was almost like they had the same thought.
"I love you," they said simultaneously.
They both were shocked. They didn't know that the other would feel the same way. They both got closer.
"Marco..."
"Star..."
They leaned in closer and closer till their lips met. It was as if fireworks both went off inside their heads. They were both lost in the kiss. Unseen to them the blood moon shining its red light on them in approval. As if saying "Finally."
When they finally broke apart they were breathless and both blushing and smiling like crazy.
Marco laughed, "That was a lot better saying I was more awake this time."
Star's face went even redder and she hid her face in her hands, "You were awake?"
"Yeah woke me up like sleeping beauty," Marco said jokingly and he put his arm around Star.
She looked at him confused.
"I'll explain it to you later."
They went back to their movie happy with their newfound relationship.
"Marco?"
"hmm?
"Love you."
He brought her in closer.
"Love you too."
