Just a thought that was suggested. Mike has the most one-liners in the entire show, and the humor is fairly abundant.

One-Liners

Chapter 1

Slattery: Damn, it's cold. I can't feel my face. Lieutenant Granderson, tell me- do I still have my face?

Granderson: Yes, sir, though it looks like you could use some lip balm, sir.

Slattery: Should've taken that desk job in Miami. It is cold!

Later that night; Mike was searching through his rucksack and his quarters. Lt. Granderson had been right, he did need lip balm, but unfortunately didn't have any. Christine was a super wife and his rucksack was always packed to perfection, but the cruise to the Arctic had been so rushed, that Christine had forgot several things she always remembered.

He wasn't afraid to admit that Christine spoiled him. He always had lip balm, chocolate candies, gum, a bottle of antacids and a bottle of aspirin in his rucksack, along with the private little notes that were just between them. They had been notified less than a week before he left, and Christine was scrambling to just get Mike some time with his kids before he left. No lip balm, candies, gum, or medications. Not even a note.

Mike went in search of lip balm, but Rios didn't have anything besides Vaseline. Not his thing. He also was craving chocolate and couldn't find any in the galley. They were at the end of their cruise, so there was no extra supplies. He found a hidden packet of hot cocoa, and while he preferred coffee, it would have to suffice. Just then, Lt. Granderson walked into the wardroom and gave him a smile.

"Hot cocoa, sir?" Lt. Granderson asked.

"Chocolate craving and my wife was not able to pack my rucksack how she would have preferred." Mike explained.

"I see." Lt. Granderson answered.

"What I'm really looking for is some of that lip balm you were talking about. Rios didn't have much in the sick-bay." Mike told her.

"I can go see if I have an extra tube? I always pack several." Lt. Granderson offered.

"Thank you, but I don't have anything to barter with." Mike answered. The entire crew had an active semi black market for things.

"Do you have any books? I am so tired of the stupid magazines in the wardroom." Lt. Granderson asked. It was well known that Mike traveled with a small library.

"Do you like historical fiction? My oldest was working on a project on the War of the Roses, and I have a couple books from that." Mike asked.

"Sure. I'll be right back." Lt. Granderson said before leaving the wardroom. Mike took the opportunity to get a book from his quarters, and they made the trade. One lip balm for one book. It was what made the ship run.
