-You want me to be a spy? – she asked surprised but before she could utter another word a black swirling mass entered the room, and a moment later Credence materialized, holding something big.
-Did you find it my boy – Grindelwald strode toward the young man, who handed him a stone tablet as high as he was. Grindelwald looked at it, sliding his hand up and down just above the surface. – ahh old magic, powerful. This thing has not been touched in almost a millennia.
Credence looked at Queenie.
- He is not lying – then curiosity peaked inside her – what is it?
-This is history my children – the man exclaimed – this is the family tree of Godric Gryffindor.
Queenie looked at the tablet. She could now see the whole thing was covered in scourge marks.
-Lightning strikes this stone every time a descendent of Gryffindor is born and brands the name on it. And see three generations from him the last male descendent dies, and his bloodline is carried through the women. 200 years after that one of them married Aurelias Dumbledore – he looked at Credence – your great, great, great, great grandfather.
Two lines followed Aurelias. Left one married someone without a name. A snake in the space. It went all the way down to Aurelias Dumbledore (Credence). The right one continued all the way down to Albus, Aberforth, Ariana Dumbledore. Credence looked at it then at Grindelwald.
-You told me he was my brother.
-He is your blood, your only family – Grindelwald interrupted - Don't you see, he knew about you, how you were treated and where you grew up. If only he had reached to you, imagine how different your life would have been. You are one of the most naturally gifted wizards alive, and you were caged, and abused by the muggles in that orphanage. You are a prime example of why we must fight. No one should suffer the way you have suffered. Dumbledore knew about your innate strength. That is why he abandoned you. No one has ever survived being an Obscurial past the age of 10. Dumbledore is clever and he is ruthless. People paint him as a saint, but he was instrumental in drawing my plans for the future, and we didn't argue about the morality of ruling over the muggles, but about the methods. He likes to operate in the dark, secrets, lies and riddles fed not only to his enemies, but to his allies as well. I want to assert wizard dominance, disarm and assimilate the non-wizard population, while he wants us to remain in secret, and manipulate them. A few imperious curses here and there, control the powerful, keep the masses down, and keep them misinformed, turn them on each other when it suits him. No place for violence against us yes, but no place for free will as well. He will use muggles like the mistress in you orphanage to keep not only muggles down but wizards who don't follow him – and he grabbed Credence by the shoulders looking him intensely in the eyes - or threaten him. And he does not want to end the wars – and he looked at Queenie – but to send young soldiers to die for his own purposes.
