Grigori Weaver

knock-knock-knock!

"Come in!" Called Weaver, who was sitting at his desk in his personal office in the Soviet garrison.

A Soviet soldier entered the office.

"Good evening, comrade Weaver, You have letter." He said.

"A letter? This late at night? From whom?" Weaver asked.

"Unknown, sir. But it's been cleared of any poison."

Weaver nodded. "Thank you, comrade. Just set it on my desk."

"Sir." The soldier replied as he did so and took his leave, closing the door behind him.

Weaver grabbed his letter opener and sliced open the envelope and read the letter.

The time had come.

"Time to go to work." Weaver said as he stood up and left his office.

Camille Denis a.k.a. Rousseau

Rousseau and Gideon, clad in their Soviet disguises, were riding in a car that Vivian was driving.

"One more checkpoint." Vivian said.

The car stopped at the checkpoint where, outside, some soviets were searching two French citizens.

"Soviet thugs." Said Gideon.

The Soviet right outside the driver's seat started yelling at Vivian to move.

"We're going, we're going." Said Vivian.

Vivian drove the car past the checkpoint. Rousseau looked down at a small bottle that Maxis gave her.

"Soon, this nightmare will be over." Rousseau said.

"If you're stopped, your cover story must be iron-clad. Let's go over it again." Gideon said.

Gideon handed Rousseau a set of false Soviet papers with identification.

"You are Maria Kuznetsova, a military attaché. You were sent by Sergeant Kamarov in the NKVD to arrange for Charkov's safe evacuation to Moscow. Take some time to review the dossier." Gideon explained.

The vehicle came to a stop by the Soviet garrison building. Rousseau reviewed the false papers and unclipped a small photo of Charkov to look at.

"This is our one chance. Recruiting our inside man came at a terrible price. You are to find him and exchange your briefcase with his. Hopefully, he's obtained the explosives we'll need to blow the gates." Gideon continued.

"You worry too much, Major." Rousseau said

"That's my job." Said Gideon with a slight smile.

"I'll meet you in front of the garrison when the operation is complete." Vivian said looking over her shoulder.

Gideon and Rousseau stepped out of the vehicle. They went over the cover story one more time.

"Who sent you?"

"Sergeant Kamarov."

"Good. Whatever happens, once you make the trade, you must maintain possession of the briefcase at all times."

Gideon handed the briefcase to Rousseau.

"I've come this far. I'll be damn sure I'm going to finish it."

Gideon nodded and walked towards the main checkpoint leading into the garrison with Rousseau following him.

Liberation

August 25th, 1944

Paris, French S.S.R.

Gideon walked forward and Rousseau followed him. Gideon presented his papers to the Soviet officer guarding the entrance. The officer let him pass and Rousseau was next.

"Papers please. And hand over your case." The officer requested.

"Here you are." Rousseau replied, handing over her papers to the officer and giving her briefcase to a soviet soldier next to him.

"I haven't seen you here before. What is the purpose of your visit?" The officer asked.

"I have travel documents for General Charkov." Rousseau replied.

"I wasn't notified of this. But your papers seem in order. Go ahead, Miss Kuznetsova." The officer informed as he handed Rousseau her papers back before she also took her briefcase back. She walked past the guards and joined Gideon at the door.

"Now remember, Maxis' contact's name is Weaver; he's got an eye patch over his left eye. Tell me the pass phrase." Gideon said.

"Sviridov." Rousseau replied.

"Good luck." Said Gideon as he opened the door and they entered the garrison. Rousseau waited until Gideon had left to do his job before she went to ask the female soviet at the front desk where she could find Weaver.

"Excuse me?" She asked.

"How may I help you, Miss?" replied the female soviet.

"I was told to report to Officer Weaver, can you tell me where I can find him?"

"Gladly. He's on the second floor for a meeting, he should be just about done by now."

"Thank you." Rousseau replied.

"Of course, Miss. Just be sure to use the back stairwell, the men don't like it when we use the main stairs." The female soviet advised.

Rousseau walked to the back stairwell and went up to the second floor. She went through the rooms until she found a man with an eyepatch over his left eye.

"Sorry to bother you, sir." She asked him.

"Yes, how can I help you?"

"I was told I could find Officer Weaver here."

"You have. I'm Officer Weaver."

"Have you listened to the works of Sviridov?"

"Yes. The Snowstorm is one of my favorites."

"It's a favorite of mine as well."

"This way please, Miss." Weaver said as he walked out of the room with Rousseau following him. They entered an dark, empty room and Weaver closed the door behind them.

"We must be brief." Weaver whispered.

"Are you ready to make the exchange?" Rousseau asked.

"No, you're early. And I'm late for a meeting. I'll have the explosives in a case matching yours. We'll have to make the swap in the War Room." Weaver explained.

"Lead the way." Rousseau replied.

"No, they're watching me. Use your cover to get into Charkov's office on the 3rd floor. From there, you can cut across to the North Wing and avoid the checkpoints. We shouldn't be seen together. Go now and I'll meet you in the War Room." Weaver explained as he opened the door and Rousseau walked out.

Rousseau walked through the Garrison, up the stairs to the 3rd floor, and arrived at the door to Charkov's office. There was a single male soviet sitting at the secretary's desk.

"Good evening. How can I help you, Miss?" asked the secretary.

"Yes, I have travel documents for General Charkov. Is he in?" Rousseau replied.

"Of course. Right this way." The secretary replied.

Rousseau followed the Secretary into the office. Charkov was on the telephone, his back facing them.

"Go ahead and take a seat. He won't be long." The secretary said as he prepared some tea.

Rousseau did so as she listened to Charkov while he was on the phone.

"Yes. Mmm hmm. Mmm. No, tell Roman that no one else trust him either. Especially after that mess he made in Urzikstan. Why do you think he was reassigned to oversee shipping in Narvik?" Charkov spoke to the person on the other end of the phone.

"I will be at my desk if you need anything else." The secretary said as he put two full tea cups on the desk and left.

"That's right." Charkov chuckled.

Rousseau took this moment to use the bottle that Maxis gave her and poured the green liquid into the tea cup on her left.

"Yes, I am a busy man. Thanks for noticing. You too. I'll call you tomorrow." Charkov said as he grabbed the tea cup on Rousseau's right and hung up the phone. Rousseau picked up the other tea cup.

"Maria Kuznetsova, right? I trust you have my travel documents ready?"

"Yes, General."

"Good, I'm hoping to return to Moscow soon. My wife Anna is probably worried sick about me."

"How is your wife, if I may ask?"

"The same, mostly. She's been begging me to come home and retire to the country, far away from the cities. She's convinced that the Americans and their allies will inevitably invade the motherland. Ridiculous, isn't it?" Charkov said as he turned away again.

Rousseau took the chance to quickly swap the cups, giving Charkov the poisoned one. He then turned back around.

"Well, let us drink, in hopes that the Allies will never get close to the motherland." Rousseau announced as she picked up the un-poisoned tea.

"To the might of the motherland!." Charkov announced as he picked up the poisoned tea.

Then they both drank from their respective tea cups.

"Now, tell me, Miss Denis. What are you doing here?"

Rousseau knew she was compromised, but it wouldn't matter soon. She decided to keep playing him.

"Denis? My name is Maria." Rousseau replied.

"Please, stop playing me for a fool, Camille. I know exactly who you are. And if you came here to kill me out of revenge, you've failed. But please, do tell me, how exactly did you plan to kill me?" Charkov said darkly.

Rousseau Leaned forward and whispered.

"I already have."

Charkov suddenly felt short of breath and started choking. Rousseau leaned further and whispered into his ear.

"Vive la resistance."

Charkov then fell out of his chair and hit the floor, dead.

Rousseau then got up from the chair she was sitting in and went through the window leading out to the roof. She heard the secretary knock on the door and call for Charkov. She went into the Billiards room through the window while it was empty. She left the room and went to find Weaver in the War Room.

"Sir, those reports you wanted just came in from Moscow." She whispered to him.

"Thank you, I will attend to them as soon as possible." Weaver replied.

Suddenly they saw armed soviet soldiers just outside the War Room. They seemed very riled up about something.

"Leave. Now." Weaver whispered urgently.

"Very good, sir." Rousseau replied as she set her empty case down next to the one with explosives and took it instead.

"Seize that spy!" Demanded a soviet officer that barged into the War Room with the soldiers.

"What is the meaning of this?" Weaver asked as he stood up.

"Explosives are missing from munitions storage. You were last seen entering that area." The officer accused.

Rousseau quickly left the room. She went to rendezvous with Gideon, but was stopped by a soviet.

"Halt. Give me your papers immediately." He demanded.

Rousseau gave the soviet her fake papers.

"Is that blood on your sleeve?" He asked.

"Ink, I'm afraid. One of those days." She replied.

The soviet looked at her papers.

"Place your briefcase on the table for inspection." He requested.

"They already checked it downstairs." Rousseau replied.

The Soviet threw the fake papers on the floor and aimed his PPSh-41 SMG at her.

"Lady, your briefcase, now." He demanded.

Suddenly Gideon came from behind and covered the soldier's mouth and stabbed him in the chest. Then he dragged his corpse into an empty office.

"You never disappoint." Rousseau said as she entered the office.

"And you have disappointed."

"What?"

"Charkov was found dead in his office and you were the last person to see him."

"Weaver said-"

"That doesn't matter. I know you wanted revenge, but you could've jeopardized this entire operation."

"But I didn't. Now we need to finish this."

"It won't be easy. We've been compromised. The whole bloody place is on alert."

"They captured Weaver."

"Tell me you made the switch."

"Yes, I have the explosives."

"Then we're staying on mission. We'll rendezvous in the courtyard after you plant the charges."

Gideon opened a door leading outside and Rousseau went to plant the charges. She made her way towards the North gate when she heard a man yelling.

"Where is Charkov's killer?!"

She went to investigate and found a man standing over Weaver, who was on his knees and his arms bound behind his hands. She entered the interrogation room through the window and shot the interrogator in the head and untied Weaver.

"Thank you. I'll be here if you run into trouble." Weaver said gratefully.

Rousseau then left and continued her mission. She placed a charge on the North gate before heading to the South gate, dropping a few bodies along the way.

"Now it's up to you, Americans." Rousseau said as she placed a charge on the South gate.

Logan Walker

"They're late. We should go now." Logan whispered as he looked at his watch.

"Hold your fire until they blow the gates. Get ready." Rorke replied.

BOOM!

An explosion at the gates caused the Soviet soldiers ahead of the squad to panic.

"Alright that's our signal. Let 'em have it!" Rorke yelled as they started gunning down the Soviets.

"Let's go fellas, they can't hold the garrison without us!"

"Gotta hurry. Reds won't go down without a fight." Merrick said.

The squad began advancing as Maxis and the French Resistance fighters joined up with them.

"CHAAAAAARRRRGE!" Maxis yelled.

"This Maxis girl's got some guts, I'll give her that!" Rorke commented.

The squad advanced up to a bridge that had a great view of the Historic Notre Dame Cathedral on the right side.

"AHH!"

Logan heard a yell of pain as a female Resistance fighter was shot by a sniper and fell on her back.

"Snipers in the garrison! Second Story!" Merrick warned.

"HELP ME!" The woman screamed.

"Cover me!" Logan yelled as he advanced to help the woman.

"You'll be alright, ma'am!" Logan assured as he began dragging the woman back behind cover where Elsa was shooting with an M1A1 Carbine.

"She alive?" Elsa asked.

"She's still breathing!" Logan replied.

"Thank you, American!" The woman said gratefully.

Logan nodded and ran back up to the front.

"We have to meet with Gideon and set up defensive positions. The Soviets will fight like hell to hold the garrison." Merrick ordered.

The squad advanced through the gates and into the garrison where Gideon and Rousseau where defending the gate.

"Gideon!" Logan yelled.

"The garrison's almost clear."

"It's not over yet." said Rousseau.

"All in due time, friend. The Soviets will mount a counterattack soon. We need to set up our defences. Follow me." Gideon said.

The squad followed Gideon to the door leading into the garrison building.

"Commies are still inside, we need to take them out. Here, Logan, Take this." Gideon said as he gave Logan his M1897 Trench shotgun. "Rousseau, get a smoke in there."

Rousseau threw a smoke grenade through the window above the door.

"Clear the lobby and then sweep the building. Enemy reinforcements are coming. Alright, do it." Gideon ordered.

David nodded and kicked open the door. He and Logan advanced inside, shooting up the place.

"Area clear! Logan, David, head upstairs and secure the second floor. We'll clear out the rest down here." Merrick ordered.

Logan and David headed upstairs and bust through a big white door that led to a room that the Soviets were using as an intelligence room. They quickly cleared it out.

"Clear!" Said Logan.

"We should report back to Merrick." Said David.

The brothers returned to Merrick, who was with Rorke, Rousseau, Gideon, and the rest of the squad.

"Garrison's clear, sir." Said Logan.

"Good work. We're just about done here." Merrick said.

"Wait!"

The group all looked to see Weaver and Maxis approaching them.

"We have to get to the Tower!" Said Maxis.

"The Eiffel Tower?" Asked Rousseau.

"What the bloody hell's going on?" Asked Gideon.

"They're gonna blow it up!" Claimed Weaver.

"What?! We have to stop them! NOW!" Rousseau demanded.

"Hold on, we don't even know if this red's telling the truth." Rorke countered.

"When I was down in the munitions storage, I noticed that most of the demolition explosives were missing. Then I found out they're being used to destroy the tower if the allies invaded the city." Weaver explained.

"Well that's good enough for me, let's get to the tower!" Merrick ordered.

Pont d'Iéna

The Squad arrived at the Pont d'Iéna bridge, which lead right to the Eiffel Tower.

"Tower looks clear. Keegan, see anyone?" Merrick asked.

"No commies. But, it looks like Weaver was telling the truth. There's enough explosives attached to the supports to make it fall over, if it blows." Said Keegan.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?!" Exclaimed Rousseau as she went to cross the bridge.

"Rousseau, wait!" Shouted Gideon.

Rousseau didn't listen and kept going.

FWOOOOOSH! CRASH!

Before Rousseau could cross the bridge, a huge, mechanized suit of power armor landed right in front of her. The power armor was piloted by a Soviet wearing a gas mask. Rousseau stared at the armor with fear in her eyes, which she hadn't felt in years. She snapped out of it and started shooting her Sten SMG at it. But it was futile as the armor was was too strong and the bullets just deflected off it.

Click-click-click!

Rousseau looked at her Sten, which had ran out of bullets in it's magazine, then back at the armor, which hadn't even been dented. Then Rousseau went to hit the Krasny Soldat with her gun, but it countered by swinging it's large right arm at her and knocking her off the bridge and into the water.

"OPEN FIRE!" Merrick ordered.

The Squad then engaged by unloading onto the Krasny. While they did so, the Krasny approached slowly. Eventually the squad ran out of ammo.

"My turn." Said the Krasny as he readied both his weapons.

FWOOOOOOOOOSH!

The Krasny engaged his flamethrowers, spraying hot fire towards the squad.

"FALL BACK! FALL BACK NOW!" Merrick ordered as the Squad ran from the flames. The Krasny pursued them.\

"We've got to kill this thing before they blow the tower!" Merrick yelled.

"HOW?!" Rorke replied. "Bullets don't even scratch this thing!"

Elsa suddenly had an idea.

"I'll take it out."

"WHAT?!" David exclaimed. "Elsa, that's suicide!"

"I'll use my powers!"

"What're you gonna do?! Heal him to death?!"

Elsa rolled her eyes and stopped running. She turned to face the Krasny and stamped her foot.

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEZE!

A trail of blue ice appeared from under Elsa's foot and spread towards the Krasny. It stopped in it's tracks and watched as the ice approached and started climbing up it's legs. The Krasny started panicking and screaming as he was frozen solid by the ice. Elsa then raised her hand and snapped her fingers, casing the frozen Krasny to shatter into a million pieces. Elsa looked behind her and saw the Squad looking at her in shock and horror.

"What're you all staring at?! We got to get to the tower before-"

BOOM!

"Oh no..." Elsa said in horror.

They were too late. The explosives went off and blasted away the support beams, causing the tower to start falling over.

"IT'S COMING DOWN, GET AWAY FROM THE TOWER!" Merrick shouted.

"COME ON, ELSA!" David exclaimed as he grabbed his wife and lead her to safety.

CCCCCCCRRRRRRAAAAAASSSSSSSHHHHHHH!

"The official outcome was a pyrrhic victory for us. But this was no Liberation. It was a goddamn disaster."

"Afterwards, the allies made a pledge to the world that something like this would never happen again."

"Easy promise to make. And to break."

Okay, before anyone yells at me for destroying the Eiffel Tower, I'll remind you that MW3 did it too in the Iron Lady campaign mission.

Also GOOD GOD IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK!

But hey! it's here now! Enjoy!
