Chapter Three

Tails Meets Vampirella + Moonlight Picnic

A couple weeks had passed following Sonic's first night with the space beauty known as Vampirella and he was getting attracted to her even more, having drinks with her and going for moonlight walks. One day, the hedgehog decided it was time to introduce her to his friends.

The first person who came to mind was Sonic's bro Tails, the hedgehog nicely escorted Vampirella over to the fox's workshop located in Mystic Ruins one sunny noon with the vampire wearing sunglasses, a red tank top and black pants with her hair tied back in a ponytail, a casual style that fascinated the blue hedgehog.

After getting off the train, the hedgehog led her over to Tails' Workshop, which had expanded and changed a bit since his last visit during the Chaos incident. Sonic knocked on the door and called for his little buddy.

Waiting patiently, the hedgehog and the disguised vampire were soon greeted by the two tailed fox who invited Sonic and Vampirella inside. "Who's this, Sonic?" The young two-tailed fox genius asked, the hedgehog had not yet told him about this girl and so he was naturally curious.

"Tails," Sonic said happily, "I want ya to meet Vampirella, a way past cool alien vampire gal who's been livin' among us and observing me from afar for a long time now. I just met her a couple weeks back and we've been hangin' out together."

"Hi, Tails." Vampirella waved.

Tails was amazed, "Whoa, a vampire? That's, uh, pretty cool. Are you ok, Sonic? She doesn't have you under mind control, does she? I'll admit, while I'm happy for you getting a girl, I'm concerned there might be something fishy going on."

"Ha ha ha ha," Sonic laughed, "Tails, I'm fine. Vampirella hasn't hurt me, she said herself that she's one of the only nice vampires in the universe. In fact, I almost thought she was an Eggman robot vampire 'till she assured me she wasn't."

Feeling a sense of relief, Tails shook Vampirella's hand and the vampire told him that she thought he was a bit cute and had actually seen him in action from afar a couple of times. The young fox then asked if she'd seen him save Station Square from Eggman, especially when she had been watching the gang for a while.

"Er, well..." Vampirella replied, "I didn't see much of what you did that day, mostly because I was observing Sonic in Mystic Ruins most of the time. But I will say this, Miles 'Tails' Prower, you are a very brave boy."

"Awww, thanks!" Sonic's eleven-year-old little bro said happily as the vampire ruffled his hair. The blue hedgehog stood back, smiling at the scene of Vampirella and Tails getting along.

"So, Sonic?" The two tailed fox asked, "What do you and V have planned for tonight, assuming you two will be going on a date tonight?"

"Heh heh!" The speedster chuckled, "We were thinkin' of a moonlight picnic."

"Not in a graveyard, right?" Tails asked, "That's probably not an ideal place for one. Did you two meet in a graveyard? I can smell it on you."

"We met in the graveyard, yes." Vampirella replied as she took Sonic's hand, "But we're not having the picnic in a graveyard, it'll be in the countryside."

"Have fun, you two." The fox said optimistically, "Sorry I can't join in, I'll be a bit busy with my inventions. I could come along next time if you want."

Sonic and Vampirella said goodbye to Tails and headed out the door, ready to prepare for tonight's picnic with nothing to worry about...

Nightfall, Well After Sundown

He sat on the blanket on the grass with the food basket and the plates ready, the sun was down and the moon had risen. Sonic wore a black bowtie and a nice suit that he'd just gotten recently, the hedgehog was smiling, eagerly waiting for her to come.

Up above, the stars twinkled and formed constellations in the night sky. The countryside and the hillside were incredible, nearly reminding the hedgehog of Green Grove where Cream the Rabbit lived. He hoped she were fine, almost imagining the look on Cream's face when she learned of Vampirella.

'Why would you go out with a vampire, Mr. Sonic?' The hedgehog imagined the young rabbit asking with terror in her face, 'Mama and I read about them, they're nightmares compared to zombies and ghouls, I also often have bad dreams about vampires.'

Sonic shrugged, it would be a while before Cream met Vampirella anyway. Wolves howled in the distance, dogs barking and a few birds tweeted, wishing one another good night. Crickets sang amongst one another, the hedgehog heard footsteps coming, it was her, it had to be...

Vampirella emerged from the shadows, wearing her trademark outfit and carrying vampire Champaign bottles. Sonic's heart almost skipped a beat, she looked so incredible just like on the night they met. "Welcome, Madam Vampirella." The hedgehog said in a fake British accent.

"Thank you, Sir Sonic of Hedgehog." Vampirella said decently, "Thank you for waiting patiently, I can see why so many people on this planet have grown to like you over the years."

She sat down next to the speedster, popped open the bottles and poured the liquid into their glasses. Sonic opened the basket and laid out the food on the plates, chili dogs and chicken. He raised his glass and Vampirella raised hers, conducting another toast to each other before sipping the Champaign.

They dug into their meal, savoring every bite and drinking before eating more while looking up at the night sky to observe the twinkling stars; One star was brighter than the other. "When the stars glow brighter than normal," Vampirella said, "It's usually a sign of things to come."

"Eh, it's probably no biggie." Sonic quipped, "Probably just the heavens watching us and the universe blessing us with good luck, wanting us to be together. Besides..." He took his space love's hand, "You're very gorgeous and we are meant to be."

"Yes, Sonic." Vampirella said with a nod, "Yes we are."

They finished their picnic, cleaned up and left the area, looking forward to what was to come very soon while unaware that a dark figure was watching them from the distance in the shadows. Whatever the future had in store, Sonic was ready and he hoped to have some fun adventures with Vampirella, exploring places he'd never seen before and facing bad guys... together.
