Chapter Four

Vampire Party + Moonlight Kiss: It Finally Begins

It had been a couple months since Sonic met Vampirella and the hedgehog was giddily looking at himself in a mirror, tonight they were going someplace snazzy and, since the big kiss had not happened yet, the hedgehog was ready for it to finally happen.

But tonight, things were never going to be the same again. This was the point of no return; things had worked out well for them. Putting away the mirror, Sonic dashed off, ready to meet up with Vampirella. She'd given him a phone and had just texted him, letting the speedster know where she was.

The half-moon had risen and all was quiet, nobody else was stirring, save for a few people going about their business. Sonic ran into Station Square, finding Vampirella waiting for him, right by the pier where a boat waited for them.

Smiling at the sight of her, the hedgehog recalled that he had a gift for her, a bracelet. He was also prepared for her to give him a gift if that ever happened. Sonic walked up to Vampirella and they held hands, looking into each other's eyes and smiling happily.

Above them, a shooting star streaked across the sky, the night sky illuminated by the shining lights in them. Sonic escorted Vampirella onto the boat, a fancy yacht, and signaled to its driver to start up the engines. The one piloting the boat was an elderly raccoon man who'd been working with boats for a very, long time now.

Nodding, the raccoon roared up the boat to life and left port, Sonic and Vampirella grasping a railing and looking out over the moonlit ocean, taking in the sights as they left the large metropolis of Station Square behind. At first, Sonic thought of giving her the bracelet, but decided to wait until a bit later after the boat ride.

Completely unworried about a thing, the duo breathed in the fresh night air, often looking at each other and smiling with Vampirella flashing a gorgeous wink and Sonic flashing his signature, toothy grin. The hedgehog had not gone on a lot of boat rides over the years, nor had he gone on an ocean cruise.

Yet, this was one of those experiences. Sonic thought about the possibility of taking Vampirella out for a ride in a motorboat one of these days, that would be fun. Maybe Vampirella could give him swimming lessons and the two could go swimming together, that sounded sweet.

But, were vampires capable swimmers, even alien ones? Or were they sensitive to water and did water happen to be fatal to the blood drinkers of the night?

The speedster then realized something, Vampirella almost looked like that one gal modeling in a one piece he'd seen on the cover of a swimsuit magazine a few years back. Since she'd been on the planet for a long time now, could Vampirella have actually gotten into a few modeling gigs?

"Hey, V?" Sonic asked, "Have you ever done a bit of modeling for magazines during your time on this planet? I just realized you almost look a lot like that one gal I saw on the cover of a bathing suit magazine who was modeling in a sweet, red one-piece swimsuit."

"Perhaps." Vampirella said with a slight thoughtful giggle, "It's probably just a coincidence. Who knows, Sonic? The universe is full of surprises after all and... is that a shooting star?"

The two looked up at the night sky just as Vampirella's shooting star passed and Sonic silently made a wish they would have a happy life together. Just then, the captain hollered, "The island is just ahead! I can see spotlights!"

Making their way to the front of the boat, Sonic and Vampirella saw a mass of land in the distance with spotlights beaming up into the sky and moving left and right. Even from afar, they could hear music too. Fancy music, it sounded like a party was going on.

"Sonic the Hedgehog," Vampirella said happily, "Welcome... to Vampire Island, a place where people who are vampire fans or actual vampires like me get together, hang out and have a really fun vampire dance party. It's also a place for fated lovers like us."

"Party time, huh?" The blue speedster chuckled, "This could be fun! So what are we waitin' for, let's see this island and par-tay! I'm always up for a fun night, partyin' and dancin' the night away. A great idea to rejoice our, um, one month anniversary of our get together."

"I have some friends who'd be thrilled to meet you, sweetie."

"Too bad I didn't bring my friends along, they like fun too."

"Not to worry, the problem has been solved as you will soon see."

As the island got closer, Sonic could see plant life, a mountain top with a house on the hill, a few shacks on the beach, tall trees and rows of shrub trees and bushes almost everywhere. The island almost looked like Knuckles' home island in terms of size and appearance, except it was shaped differently and hardly resembled it.

His and Vampirella's ride came to a stop next to the pier and the ramp lowered, allowing them to set foot on Vampire Island. The speedster was surprised that in all the years he'd traveled the world, he never came across this landmark and that it had been off the coast of Station Square the entire time far from Emerald Coast.

Thinking about Emerald Coast made the hedgehog suddenly realize something, he and Vamp had crossed through Emerald Coast and no Orcas had come out to attack for once, at last, the whales had resisted their 'attack Sonic' habits.

"Follow me, sweetie." Sonic's alien love interest said, grasping his hand tightly, "The party is happening in the village, its begun and we're going to miss it. We have special friends of ours just waiting for us, lovely night for a party. It has been almost forever since I last got together with people for a party."

"Comin'." Excited and more fascinated than ever, Sonic followed the space beauty across the dock onto the landmass as Captain Raccoon waved and told them to have fun while he looked after the boat. The hedgehog breathed in the smell of the sea, clean palm trees and... was that chili dogs he could smell?

'Yeehaw,'Sonic thought, pumping his fist excitedly, 'I can't wait to dig into some party food and dance with some folks.' Vampirella noticed the look on his face and told him that the food being served at the party included chili dogs, a somewhat sure incentive for the hedgehog to want to join the party even more.

Together they walked through the forest, following the trail away from the beach. Through the trees and bushes, Sonic could catch glimpses of flashing colorful lights and the music was getting louder, he could now hear excited chatter from the partygoers and howling wolves.

Crunch! Jumping back in alarm at the sound, the hedgehog thought he'd accidently broke something when he realized he'd just walked over a small, fallen tree branch, which he brushed aside and picked up a flower to smell it before giving it to Vampirella as another gift from him to her, much to her surprised delight.

For one bit, he wanted to give her the bracelet now, but decided to hold off. It would be at the party, while surrounded by many people including his friends, assuming they were there and what Vampirella said was true. Sonic could almost see the look on Amy's face when she saw the kiss happening at last.

Just a little bit more trudging through the woods later and Sonic's jaw dropped, this was a sight to feast his eyes upon and take in the sight of Vampire Island's village settlement so full of life with the party happening here, the houses were decorated with party orbs and a few firework launchers stood ready.

There was about up to a few hundred people here, dancing away, laughing and chatting and dressed in elaborate vampire-y costumes or Goth outfits. Many of the people were either humans or anthropomorphic animals. A couple Chao could be seen close by, interacting with a couple kids.

Fireflies flew around Sonic, a butterfly landing on his nose for a split second and a crow landed on Vampirella's shoulder, making her giggle. The hedgehog was so entranced by the sight of everything around him, almost overwhelmed, he nearly wanted to faint from total amazement or have a bit of a geek-out.

"Enthralled by the festivities, I see." The red dress clad vampire giggled, bopping Sonic on the nose, "I am too." She held his arm tightly and gestured for him to follow her. Since he was new here and Vampirella had been here before, Sonic let her lead the way, cutting through the crowd of partygoers.

A couple female humanoid owls in vampire costumes spotted the hedgehog, getting excited and swarmed him, going fan crazy about him. A blonde girl in a white dress approached Vampirella, the two of them hugging. "Sonic, this is my friend, Mincy." Vampirella said, introducing the hedgehog.

"Vampirella told me about her nightly hangouts with you over the fang phone." Mincy said with a giggle, "You're real cuuuuuute, perhaps even cuter than I thought you were. I can see why so many women have fawned over you, I heard about that Amy girl. She must've been a bit of a nightmare for you for a while."

"Ah, I'm not worried, Mincy." Sonic quipped, "Me and Amy on good terms."

"Hey, Sonic!" A familiar ruff voice beckoned, "Over here!"

The hedgehog spotted Vector, Espio and Charmy among the party guests, wearing elaborate costumes and enjoying themselves. Vector was holding up some wine and Charmy was doing somersaults while Espio did the ninja dance, which looked like tap dancing combined with some Kung Fu moves.

The Chaotix were by a pavilion table next to a black skinned man in a DJ's outfit playing with some catchy records, Sonic headed on over to the Chaotix's spot with Vampirella right behind him, he was thrilled to see some familiar faces, especially when it came to being with his friends.

"Yo, Vector." The speedster said with enthusiasm, "Good to see ya, so you know Vampirella already, huh?"

"We got a note from her a few days ago while we were busy remodeling the old Chaotix Detective Agency HQ, she explained everything." Vector replied, "I almost thought we were solving a case, but this is some party and this might just be one of my favorite shindigs."

"I think it's the best party ever!" Charmy squealed, "WHEEE!" He flew around the area, doing barrel rolls and flips through the air to the delight of a couple of the guests, making a few laugh and whoop excitedly. Sonic looked at Espio and they laughed, Charmy had not changed one bit despite his age.

Just then, the hedgehog spotted a familiar white bat in a velvet dress dancing with a black hedgehog in a tuxedo top not too far off, the two seemed to be enjoying themselves with the bat giggling and the black hedgehog just smiling a not so edgy smile. "Is that who I think it is?" Sonic chuckled, nudging Vampirella.

"Mmm hmm." The vampire girl said in response, she then led Sonic over to where Rouge and Shadow were dancing and cleared her gullet loud enough for the two to stop dancing and notice them.

"Hmph, look who's here." Shadow mused.

"Sure has, faker." Sonic quipped, "Long time no see, same to you, Rouge. How've you two been in regards to your G.U.N missions? Anything big happening a whole lot or is it mostly the same with Shadow being his broody self?"

"It's nice to see you again, big blue." Rouge said sweetly, shaking Sonic's hand, "I like your new accomplice Vampirella, she's such a nice gal and I see some people wearing some lovely necklaces. I wish I got my hands on a jewel or two."

Before Sonic could say anything, somebody elbowed him from behind. He turned and found himself pounding fists with Knuckles the Echidna and shaking hands with Shade, whom he had not seen in ages. "Ha ha!" Knuckles laughed, "Didn't see that one coming, huh? Been a long time and no see, am I right?"

Smiling with delight at seeing the guardian of the Master Emerald again, Sonic high fived Knuckles and made a comment on how good it was to see Shade again, especially since it had been ages since he'd last seen the orange female echidna. She was rocking a nice new outfit, yet still wore her old arm bracelets.

"Who's guarding the Master Emerald for you, Knucklehead?" The hedgehog asked, scratching his head when he realized it was awkward and dangerous for Knuckles to leave his own island and the giant green gem unguarded while he was away for certain periods of time.

"Ah, don't worry." Knuckles said, "Its in safe hands."

"Sonic!" Tails flew in and hugged Sonic, excitedly telling him how much of a blast he was having and the fact that he was starting to wish he could study vampires. The hedgehog high fived the two tailed fox, almost surprised that he was here too.

Then, something dawned on him. If Vampirella had invited most of his friends here, to the island and to this party and since he was smitten with her, could Amy Rose be here too?

If she learned that Sonic had been going out with the vampire and if she saw them share their first kiss at last... Oh boy, that wouldn't be good.

"I can see the look on your face and read your thoughts," The speedster heard the vampire say in an assuring tone, "I tried to invite that pink hedgehog, but she was too busy. Since it was obvious she likes you so much and because you and I are somewhat destined to be, I didn't tell her you would be there."

Tails nudged a relieved Sonic, even though the hedgehog didn't dislike the pink hedgehog even after all the times she'd chased him. "Heh heh, look at that, blue." The fox said in a teasing tone, "The pink hammer terror girl's absence frees you up to do whatever you want, especially with Vampirella."

'Such as have my first kiss and give her my gift.'The hedgehog thought with a grin. He looked around at the people dancing and at his friends, who were watching whatever was probably going to happen between him and Vampirella. He looked at the vampire and took her hand, listening to the groovy music.

With not a care in the world, Sonic placed his hands around the shapely space girl's waist, Vampirella placing her hands on the sides of his head and they began to dance with one step forward and two steps back, twirling and spinning. The hedgehog's world seemed to change, almost everything else didn't matter now.

For Sonic, there was nothing else. No time, nobody watching, no villains to fight, no pressing issues. It was just him and the woman he was in love with, it was his night and he was going to make sure it lasted as long as possible like with almost every other night he'd shared with this gorgeous vampire.

A handful of people in the party going crowd, his friends included along with Mincy and a few other folks who seemed to be vampires included, all watched as Sonic and Vampirella danced the night away together, having the dance all to themselves and unconcerned about any dark events to come if they ever happened.

Sonic grasped V's arm and spun her around before letting her spin and twirl with such incredible grace and beauty, the music seemed to change into something almost romantic and someone with a very lovely voice began singing about moonlight love that sounded almost nothing like the hedgehog had heard before.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a band of musicians, consisting of humans and anthropomorphic rabbits and anthropomorphic wolves, standing on a stage as they played trombones, drums and guitars. Their lead singer, a brunette gal in a cowboy dress, was at the front at the mike, singing the song perfectly.

"The Fang Light Moon band." Vampirella whispered in the hedgehog's ear, "They're a famous vampire-themed band who got started in the 1980s, they've had different band members and singers over the years, some vampire and some not. While most of the musicians aren't vampires, some of the lead singers are."

"Sounds like the current lead singer gal's a vampire from what you're sayin'."

"She is and I'm good friends with her, her name's Kara Bludfeing.

"I will say, that music and her singing is darned catchy to dance to."

The hedgehog clicked his fingers and kept dancing to the groovy music, holding Vampirella's hands as he started to take their dance all over the place, near the stage and on the stage, to the middle of town square and near the DJ booth. Sonic whooped and Vampirella giggled, both of them having the time of their lives.

At any time, it had to happen, the kiss and the gift. As the music and the song ended, a new number coming up. Sonic made his choice to do it at last, he made a small speech complimenting Vampirella's beauty before reaching into hammer space and, to her delight, brought out the gold bracelet.

Everyone watched as the vampire beauty accepted the bracelet, golden metal band slipping onto her arm, Sonic's friends elbowing each other and grinning from ear to ear. Then came the big one, the blue hedgehog scooped Vampirella into her arms, spun her around and dipped her into one romantic kiss.

Vampirella placed her hands around the speedster's neck as Sonic held her close, the two of them deepening and lengthening their kiss as long as possible. After waiting for this for quite some time, the girl was all Sonic's. It didn't matter if she was a vampire or an alien, all that mattered was... they were together.

Excited cheering broke out with people applauding enthusiastically and many raising their glasses to the hedgehog-vampire couple just as Sonic and Vampirella broke the kiss before the speedster got out another gift he had for V, a shiny necklace gleaming with perfect craftsmanship and beauty.

He placed it around her neck just as anybody would with a medal or any other necklace, Vampirella gave Sonic a kiss on the cheek and whispered in his ear, thanking him for such amazing gifts before saying to him that, by giving her the bracelet, he'd also just proposed to her.

"I didn't know that, but I'll be thrilled to have you for life." Sonic quipped.

Vampirella giggled and the two of them kissed once again.

Half an hour later, the two of them were sitting on a hilltop away from the party and looking up at the dark sky, stargazing and observing the moon, holding hands. Sonic felt thrilled the two of them had reached the moment they'd been waiting for since they fell for each other. He would never forget it and neither would her.

"Some party, wasn't it?" The speedster remarked, having enjoyed himself with all the dancing, hanging out with his friends and getting to meet and see Vampirella's friends. In all of his adventures he'd been on, especially when it came to the supernatural and spooky stuff, Sonic had only met ghosts but not vampires.

As a matter of fact, he was surprised he never fought zombies or werewolves. As for magic users, he'd only faced a witch but not a male wizard. Vampires were becoming one of his favorites in the universe, they were so cool, Sonic almost dreamed he was a vampire. But it was fine, he didn't have to become one.

"I love you, Sonic the Hedgehog!" Vampirella said, rolling over and snaking her arms around the speedster. Sonic placed his hands on her hips and held her close to him even as she pressed her body against his. "And I love you, Vampirella Drakullion." Sonic replied and the two of them began to make out once again...
