Chapter Two

When Dumbledore's vision cleared after his initial unconsciousness when he was blasted back in time. Looking around, he found himself in his office, with the calendar at 31st October, 1980. He had done it! Hours of intricate planning and research had finally paid off. Dumbledore grinned, and for the first time in a long, long time, he felt happy again. Happy that he had another chance to set it all right.

He suddenly remembered something and realized that Harry and his family were going to be attacked that night. Positively leaping out of his seat, he took his wand and hastily grabbed a handful of floo powder and shouted, "Godric's Hollow!" before being engulfed by the emerald-green flame. Dumbledore arrived at Godric's Hollow, and saw James Potter by an armchair.

"Hello, Albus! What brings you here?". Dumbledore replied, "James! Barricade the doors! Voldemort's coming!". It was too late. The door blasted open and Voldemort walked in, smirking. James shouted, "Lily! Take Harry and go! I'll hold him off!".

Both James and Dumbledore brandished their wands. "Avada Kedavra!" The killing curse sailed towards James. Dumbledore's eyes widened, remembering his promise to Harry. He lunged, waving his wand and sending a table to block the curse. But it was too late. James fell onto the floor with a dull thump.

Dumbledore turned around, and saw that Voldemort was nowhere to be seen. He had let his concentration slip. Suddenly, he heard the faint pop sound of someone apparating, and turned around just in time to see Voldemort sending a dark curse to him. Quickly blocking, the force of the curse catapulted him backwards and through the front door. "I'll deal with you later after I kill the Potter brat, sir," Voldemort said in a mocking voice.

He walked upstairs, wand at the ready. Harry opened his eyes, and looked around him. He was ecstatic. It had worked! He had gone back in time! He found himself in a white cot in a room that he recognized as one of the rooms in Godric's Hollow. Suddenly he heard a shout from outside the door. "No! Not Harry! Take me instead!" and a cold voice saying, "Stand aside, Mudblood,".

The female voice, which Harry figured was his mother, shouted once again in protest. He heard a hiss of "Avada Kedavra," and a thump. Now Harry was starting to feel worried. Where was Dumbledore? Hadn't he promised to save his parents? Voldemort went inside the room. He cast, "Avada Kedavra!". The bright green of the killing curse was the last thing he saw as he blacked out.

Dumbledore pulled himself out of the rubble, and after casting a few healing and numbing charms, he ran up the stairs to see a dead Lily Evans, Voldemort's cloak on the floor, and an unconscious Harry. Grabbing the unconscious Harry, he put him in his hands and ran out of the door, only to be met by death eaters outside the door. Dumbledore frowned.

This never happened the first time it happened, Dumbledore thought. Nevertheless, he cast aside his thoughts and immediately started dodging and deflecting all the curses being sent his way. Stunning three death eaters, Dumbledore heard the faint pops of apparition, and saw the Order of the Phoenix rush forward to his aid. 'Mad-Eye' Moody rushed forward to check on Dumbledore, and in no time the death eaters were all stunned and apprehended.

"Albus! What happened?" Mad-Eye asked in alarm. "Voldemort came for the Potters," Dumbledore said. "Voldemort has been vanquished by young Harry here. James and Lily are dead,". "James and Lily! They were such good aurors. And young Potter vanquishing Voldemort?". "Indeed," Dumbledore replied.

"Alright then, come along, you'd better get some medical attention," Mad-Eye said, pointing to the cut on Dumbledore's arm. "We'll also need to find Harry's future guardians,". "No need, I'm thinking on adopting the poor boy,". Mad-Eye muttered under his breath, "The press will have a field day," before side-long apparating Dumbledore and Harry to the Medical Wing in Hogwarts.

Daily Prophet Special Edition: You-Know-Who Defeated?

Last night, 31st October, You-Know-Who attacked the Most Noble and Ancient house of Potter, killing Lord James Potter, as well as his wife, Lily Potter. However, when aurors reached the scene, Voldemort was nowhere to be found.

His wand and cloak were discovered at the Nursery, leaving us to believe that he has indeed been vanquished. Eyewitness accounts report that Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, was seen carrying Harry Potter, son of the two deceased Potters, out of their house and then apparated away with auror Mad-Eye Moody to receive medical attention. Mad-Eye Moody said, after being interviewed, that young Harry Potter has vanquished Voldemort by deflecting the Killing Curse itself. An auror who wishes to remain anonymous said that he saw Harry killing Voldemort himself, but whether this is true or not is up to spectulation.

Adding on to this, our aurors along with the help of viligante group Order of the Phoenix (founder no other than Albus Dumbledore himself) have apprehended many death eaters, along with many of the inner circle. The group consists of Lucius Malfoy, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, Bellatrix Lestrange, Severus Snape, Igor Karkaroff, Augustus Rookwood, Corbin Yaxley, Alectus Carrow, Amicus Carrow, Antonin Dolohov, Evan Rosier and many more yet unnamed death eaters. Celebrations have already started, but the Ministry advises that everyone should still lay low until the defeat of Voldemort and his followers are confirmed.

The Daily Prophet will provide you more information in tomorrow's daily newspaper.

1.1k, not bad. I think the paragraphs still sound... somewhat off, but I'll guess it'll have to do. Thanks everyone who liked and followed my story, and feel free to leave a review, I'd love the feedback! [I also somewhat tweaked the first chapter a bit]

Thanks,

Andrew
