The picture is of Zephrina Akikuda! Art by me!
I stared up at the perfect, cloudless blue sky, drinking in the fresh air, inhaling deeply and carrying it from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. I was thankful for moments like this. Peace. Simplicity. One with nature. I probably wouldn't get many more moments like this. Especially if I passed the entrance exam to get into U.A..
U.A., I thought, anxiety coursing through me. It was my one and only dream. The only thing I ever asked for. Being a hero...it was everything I wanted and more. I'd worked extremely hard for the past eleven months, strengthening my body and quirk to its very limits. And that would, hopefully, all pay of tomorrow. The day of the U.A. Hero Course entrance exam.
"Uncle Reo! I'm home!" I called into our small apartment. I've lived with Uncle Reo, Sei, and Kei- his two children, my cousins, since I was ten.
Since my Dad died.
Since my mother went crazy.
"Oh, hey Squirt! Get all your last minute training in?" He appeared around the corner, dressed in his work attire- a long white coat and scrubs. He was a doctor at the local hospital.
I nodded. "Yes, I'll be ready to go in just a moment!"
I rushed through the kitchen and down the hallway to my room, hastily brushing my long blond hair and braiding it back. I usually didn't braid my hair, but I figured it was for the best. I pulled on my favorite athletic wear- a purple zip-up hoodie and matching purple joggers, and rushed back down the hallway and flew through the front door, waving to my Uncle as I dashed toward U.A... Or, in a more epic way, toward my future!
I flipped backwards, dodging the clumsy robot, landing deftly on the side of a fake utility pole. I pushed off and landed on its back, pressing my hands into the side of the hunk's head, using Sei's quirk- Steam- to push the perspiration into its system, effectively shutting it down. Number...20? 30? I had lost count at some point. I rushed down an alleyway, sweat dripping down my back and beading on my forehead. This wasn't hard, but god did it take a lot of running. I ran into another robotic beast, a three pointer, lucky me. I dispatched this one the same as I had the last...oh, how ever many, and rushed onto the next.
I had made my way to the rough middle of the fake city. At this point, the fake villan robots were becoming scarcer and scarcer. The only thing that I hadn't encountered was the zero pointer, not that that mattered much anyway.
BOOM! BOOM!
I whipped around, trying to discern the cause of the loud booming. It sounded huge. Way too huge. A shadow fell over the city, causing everyone to stop and stare. It was huge, colossal, and definitely not how I imagined the zero pointer being.
Then the screaming and running started. But I was frozen, locked in place by awe and fear. They really didn't expect us to beat this guy, huh? My muscles unlocked and I turned to run, but then the sound of high pitched, girly screaming grabbed my attention. A boy with short brown hair (BTW this is not a character in the manga) was struggling, scrabbling, and trying to unpin himself from the rubble.
Well, It looks like Big-Boy was going to have to go down. Lucky for this guy, I was brave.
I ran full tilt toward the nearest building, scaling up the side and pulling myself onto the roof. If I was going to beat this monstrosity, I would have to be on its head. I was suddenly very thankful it was humid today. Sei's quirk should be strong enough for it, especially if I paired it with Twin, my uncle's quirk. I made a flying leap off the building, landing squarely on the beast's head.
No going back now. It was now or certain doom.
I activated Twin, and exact copy of myself materialized across from me.
"Grab on to its head and use Steam! Give it all you've got!" I commanded. She grabbed onto the robot's head and activated Steam the exact same moment I did.
A huge swirling tornado of mist, hot and damp, surrounded the Zero pointer. This had to be the largest scale of attack I'd ever used. I gritted my teeth, pain searing down my spine and clutching my head. Now or never! With a final heave of effort, I pulled the moisture into the robot, struggling to hang on. With a sudden burst of energy, I leaped away from the falling robot, stuck in a free fall.
I smiled as I fell. If I haven't impressed who ever was grading these exams, I was sure I had now.
Sorry for the short chapter! Please comment your opinion! It would really help!
