I paced restlessly in front of the small window of my room facing toward the mail box and let out another anxious sigh. It had been exactly two weeks since I had completed the entrance exam. Two weeks since I defeated the Zero Pointer and hit my head on a nearby building. My head still hurt just thinking about it. Present Mic, the Pro Hero who had been informing us- loudly, I might add- about things pertaining to the exam, had said that it would take about two weeks for our letters to arrive. It had been exactly two weeks, and I was impatient.

My head snapped to the window, seeing the mail man in my peripheral vision. I dashed bare footed through the house and down the stair case, opening the main door to the apartment complex. I rushed to the mail man, Misugi, eagerly awaiting what I hoped was my acceptance letter.

"Good morning, Ms. Akikuda!", He greeted me in a cheerful manner. "I'm assuming this is what you were all exited about?"

He offered me a single envelope, sealed with the U.A logo. Addressed to me.

"Yes! Thank you, Misugi-san!" I took the letter, my hands shaking with excitement.

He tipped his hat to me. "Good luck!"

I rushed back up the stair case, almost tripping over my feet. This was it! Hopefully I had passed the test.

"Ojiisan*! Ottoto-san*! Imoto-san*!", I yelled excitedly as I flew through the door. "My letter! I got my letter!"

Kei and Sei were coloring at the kotatsu* with Uncle Reo, and the twins looked up eagerly, scrambling to make room for me on the table.

There was an uneasy, tense silence as I carefully opened the letter. I was expecting a piece of paper, but instead a small metallic disk clattered to the table, projecting a picture of Principle Nezu.

"Hello! This is your principal, who is neither a cat, nor a dog, a mouse or a bear! I am here to inform you, Zephrina Akikuda, that with a total of 69 points, you passed the hero course entrance exam! I would like to remind you that the first day is on August 8! You uniform and handbook should arrive shortly after receiving this message! I would like to congratulate you again! Welcome to U.A. High!"

I stood before the looming gates of U.A., my hands nervous and sweaty. I adjusted my tie one last time before walking into the crowd currently coming in. Clutching the strap of my brown messenger bag harder as we neared the front doors, my heart started beating madly. There were so many people, and so many things to take in all at once!

I checked my schedule one last time. It stated that my homeroom class was 1-A, with Shota Aizawa. I looked around frantically. This building was several stories tall, so who knew what floor it was on. I scanned my paper again, breathing a sigh of relief. Hero Course was on the 2nd floor. I took the stairs up a level, rounding the corner, and then-

SMACK!

I stumbled backwards falling on my butt with an oomph. Was there a wall? I looked up, confused. A boy with spiky red hair looked over his shoulder, panic crossing his face.

"Oh, man! I'm so sorry!", he apologized holding out a large hand, rubbing the back of his neck, evidently embarrassed. I took his outstretched hand and he easily pulled me back to my feet.

"I'm the one who should be saying sorry! I wasn't paying attention." I waved my hands madly in front of me, and on second thought, bowed. "I'm Zephrina Akikuda!"

He bowed back, his face stretching into a grin that showed a row of pointy teeth. "I'm Ejirou Kirishima! Nice to meet you!"

We shared an embarrassed laugh. "Um…since I bumped into you here, do you happen to know where classroom 1-A is?"

He grinned again, pointing to the door we were stopped in front of. "Right here! We're in the same class!"

He held open the door for me, and I walked into the class room. It wasn't a fancy room, it was just huge. At least height wise. There were exactly 22 desks lined up in near perfect rows. There weren't very many people here yet either. Just a blonde boy with spiky hair, and-

"Iida-kun!", I laughed happily, and with much surprise. "You didn't even tell me what class you got in!"

He turned fully to me, straightening his shoulders with pride and pushing his glasses up his nose. "I decided after much thought that I wanted to surprise you!" he announced with his usual perfect manners.

I snorted in amusement, and then bounced up to give him a short hug. He awkwardly patted my back, not even after all these years comfortable enough with me to give a normal, casual hug. But trust me, I was working on it...slowly. I let go and sat quickly in one of the desks next to him. I felt a whole ton better having somebody I knew in class. I turned to Kirishima, how was sitting next to me and behind the spiky blonde.

"Kirishima-san, this is Iida Tenya, Iida-kun this is Ejirou Kirishima, he helped me find the classroom!", I introduced the two boys to each other, gesturing to each as I did.

But, Iida being Iida, caught on quickly. "You didn't memorize the layout of the school? I should have guessed...being prepared was never your strong suit."

I pretended to be hurt by his criticism, letting my face fall into a mask of sorrow. "You're so mean Iida-kun..."

He looked taken aback for only a moment, and then he glanced toward the door, his face abruptly changing into confusion before folding into his usual stoic mask. I stared at him for a moment, surprised. That was out of character. Iida rarely looked surprised. I glanced to the door, curious about what had made Iida do something so strange. And I froze.

My blood ran cold.

My heart stopped.

My hands began to shake.

It couldn't be. She wasn't there, I never saw her. She didn't apply to U.A., she said she would try Shiketsu.

But sure enough, there she stood, her blood red eyes focused on me as she found her seat.

Yuriko Tsumiyo.
