4x03 – Hell Hath No Fury

[Scene: On the road in Piper's car. Prue, Piper and Cole are in it. Cole is driving, Prue's in the passenger seat, and Piper's in the backseat. The car screeches around the corner.]

Prue: Okay, turn left up here. And can you step on the gas a little?

(Cole screeches around the corner, nearly hitting a taxi. Piper lets out a yelp, and the taxi driver honks his horn.

Piper: Off the gas! Off the gas!

(She pats him on the shoulder.)

Cole: Does somebody else want to drive here?

Prue: Piper, the demon is not waiting around for us to come and vanquish him.

Piper: We don't even know if we have enough power to vanquish him. Scrying for random evil tells us nothing.

Prue: It tells us where the demons are and since we vanquished two already this week, I say it's working pretty well.

Piper: Yeah, thanks to Leo and Cole for saving our butts. Look, he even has to do the bodyward's role. Two witches and half a demon is not the Power of Three make.

Prue: So what are we supposed to do? Sit around and wait for them to pick us all off? If we weren't going after them, they'd be coming after us.

Cole: They're coming after you anyway, Prue. The Source is coming after you.

Piper: And we won't be ready for him because instead of supporting Phoebe and make her see how white magic is beyond black magic, we're out hunting for every Tom, Dick and Beelzebub in San Francisco.

Cole: Speaking of, do we have any kind of plan here or...?

Prue: The plan is to vanquish the demon.

Cole: Great. Any chance you've mastered to kill demons with you own powers or you'll need Piper to blow up the demon again at random?

(Piper hits him lightly on the shoulder.)

Prue: My powers are growing and someday I'll manage to kill demons on my own and I won't need you anymore. Otherwise, random, but you know what they say, there's nothing like field practice, Piper. Turn here! (Cole screeches around another corner and drives down an alley.) Stop! (Cole slams on the breaks. A bald demon is in the middle of strangling a man. Prue, Piper and Cole get out of the car.) Hey! Big scary demon!

(The demon turns around and the man escapes from his grip and runs away. The demon's eyes glow bright red. Prue uses her power and sends the demon flying into some boxes.)

Prue: Piper, now!

(Piper uses her power and the demon bloats up. The demon's face turn red).

Cole: He's gonna blow!

(Piper and Cole quickly jump back in the car and shuts the doors. The demon explodes and green goo splats on the front of the car. Cole turns on the windscreen wipers. Prue walks over to the car and opens the passenger door.)

Prue: Next!

(Prue grins and gets in the car. Piper and Cole look at each other, then at Prue, who is still grinning.)

Opening Credits

[Scene: Phoebe's room. Phoebe is at her desk reading a Witches and Witchcraft book.]

Phoebe: (in her head) Throughout history, witches have been misunderstood, persecuted and destroyed. The public hanging, drowning, and burning of women suspected of witchcraft is a far more recent chapter of our history then most people realise.

Leo: Phoebe.

(Phoebe quickly puts down the book and picks up a folder.)

Phoebe: Oh, Leo. You scared me…

Leo: Little jumpy, are we?

Phoebe: Well, my sisters are hunting demons with my boyfriend as an exit salvation, so I thought I could... (she tries to hide the book cover from him and smiles awkwardly.)

Leo: Read some with and witchcraft book? Are you okay?

Phoebe: Yeah, I'm fine. Is just I wanted to know more about my roots as a witch, you know.

Leo: You've been being a witch for three years now, do you think you don't know everything about the craft?

Phoebe: Since The Source is coming after me and my sisters I don't want to risk it. I'm doing this for them, even though I'm not sure about being a witch anymore.

Leo: You know I'm not only your brother-in-law. I'm your whitelighter too and I'm here if you need to talk any time.

Phoebe: I know, and I appreciate it. But I think now my biggest worries are about knowing where our magic come from. Knowing this, will help us learn about our powers and maybe how to vanquish The Source and fulfill our destiny.

Leo: Just in case… I'm here if you need me.

Phoebe: Thank you, Leo (she smiles and he orbs out of the room. Then she sighs and grabs the book again, passing the pages throw. Suddenly, Phoebe has a premonition about the past in which she and her sisters are making witchcraft following the white magic rituals. When the premonition ends, she smiles again and keeps reading the book).

[Scene: Manor. Attic. Prue, Piper and Cole are there. Prue crosses out The Kevmay page in the Book of Shadows while Piper looks on.]

Piper: Oh, I know that you're happy that we got him Prue, but is it entirely necessary to disfigure the book?

Prue: Hmm, this one could incinerate human flesh with his eyes. That must sting.

Cole: You think that's funny? You could have gotten yourself killed. Do you understand that?

(He walks over to Prue.)

Prue: Yes, Cole, I understand killed very well.

Cole: Then why would you want to keep risking your life and Piper's, not to mention mine? There's a legion of Bounty Hunters on my ass. I'm supposed to be laying low but instead, I'm out protecting you guys.

Prue: You know what, Cole? Next time, you can stay home.

Cole: If you insist on taking these suicide missions, you force me to be there because there's no way in hell I'm about to let Phoebe lose a sister.

(Piper goes over to him and touches his shoulder.)

Piper: Cole, why don't you go eat something, okay?

Cole: Sure. If I found the Source, I'll just ask him to come by later. (He leaves the attic.)

Piper: Prue, Cole's right. We have a system for fighting demons and it's worked pretty well for the last three years.

Prue: I think, uh, Phoebe being abducted by The Source and nearly die counts as a pretty big glitch in the system.

Piper: I know that you're angry. I am angry too.

Prue: Then w-why are you fighting me on this? What-what's the problem with getting a little proactive?

Piper: Because we're not ready to get proactive. That's what's wrong with it. We're barely ready for anything right now. I mean, just dealing with our everyday normal lives is hard enough.

Prue: That is precisely the point. The faster we get rid of these demons, the faster we can get back to our everyday normal lives or at least what is left of them.

(The attic door opens and Phoebe walks in.)

Phoebe: Knock knock. I uh... I'm sorry to interrupt.

Piper: Uh, it's okay. Don't worry about it.

Phoebe: I heard you were home already and I don't know exactly what to do about this witchcraft thing, but it's hard being alone all the time.

Piper: Are you okay?

Phoebe: Yeah, I'm just studding some things about magic.

(Prue picks up a map and a crystal.)

Piper: Yeah, well being a witch for three years helps a lot. That's why the whole sister thing comes in so handy. (to Prue) What are you doing?

Prue: Um, it's a little chatty up here, so I'm going to go scry for evil in my room.

Phoebe: Scrying again?

(Prue heads for the door.)

Prue: Yeah, uh, Piper will explain. I'll see you later.

(She leaves the attic.)

Piper: She's getting kind of proactive; you know.

Phoebe: Well, why doesn't she read the book? I mean, study it will help, right?

(Phoebe walks over to the Book.)

Piper: You know Prue is beyond that right now. It's kind of hard to explain.

Phoebe: It looks so old… Do you really think what we do is white magic, Piper?

Piper: Yeah. Well, at first you know how scared I was about de witchy thing… but this book has survived a lot. Fortunately, it protects itself from evil and that is a proof about how good it is.

Phoebe: How do you think it protects itself?

Piper: Magic.

Phoebe: May I?

Piper: Phoebe, don't be ridiculous. This book is as yours as ours. You love to read it and learn from it. I would stay here with you, but I have to go talk to Leo.

Phoebe: Don't worry, go with your man.

Piper: Remember you are free to thumb through it. I'll be back in a few minutes.

(Piper leaves the attic. Phoebe flips through the Book and stops at an Instant Karma Spell.)

Phoebe: This could solve a lot of problems. What are the perks of being a good witch if I can't help with my magic?

(She gets out some Post-its and a pen and starts writing down the spell.)

[Cut to the conservatory. Piper and Cole are waiting there. Leo orbs in.]

Leo: What? What is it? What's wrong?

Cole: You've got to talk to Prue.

Piper: Okay, Cole, remember what I said about being gentle?

Leo: What about Prue?

Cole: She's out of control.

Piper: Cole!

Leo: What?

Piper: It's just, we're very worried about her.

Leo: What happened?

Piper: She's very, very angry.

Leo: Well, of course she's angry.

Piper: Right, and if she were punching walls, I would happily call a repairman, but...

Cole: The problem is she prefers to punch demons.

Leo: Well, I'll talk to her.

(Cole moves closer to Leo.)

Cole: She has no regard for her life or anyone else's. She's Charles Bronson, cubed.

Leo: I said I'd talk to her.

(Piper stands in between the two.)

Piper: Guys, guys. Who is Charles Bronson? (Leo and Cole give her a look.) Never mind. (to Cole) We - can we please just have a minute alone?

Cole: Sure.

Piper: Thank you. (Cole leaves the room and Piper and Leo walk in the living room.) Uh, it's not just that she's violent, Leo. She's acting nothing like herself. She's completely dismissive of Phoebe and I don't know what to do anymore.

(They sit on the couch.)

Leo: Strange isn't it? Now on top of everything else, you have to play the middle sister again.

Piper: I was born in the middle, right?

(Leo laughs.)

Leo: Yes, I think so.

Piper: Yeah. I look at Prue and Phoebe and it makes me think back to all those times that I had to play mediator between them before.

Leo: Not a lot of fun, huh?

Piper: It's not a job I would have asked for. And I'm not sure how this is going to get better, but I just, I don't have time to really worry about it right now.

Leo: I'll talk to her.

Piper: Thanks, Leo. (They hug.) And not to rush this tender moment, but she's already started scrying. (Leo orbs out and Piper falls head first on the couch.) I didn't mean you couldn't use the stairs!

[Cut back to the attic. Phoebe has Post-its stuck over the Book Of Shadows. She runs out of Post-its and looks around. She gets an idea, closes the Book and carries it to the window.]

Phoebe: Okay, book, protect yourself. (Phoebe opens the window and drops the Book of Shadows out. It lands on the grass.)

Piper: (from downstairs) Phoebe! I'll be right up! (She heads for the door.)

[Cut to the stairs. Piper's nearly to the top and Phoebe comes around the corner nearly bumping into Piper.]

Piper: Whoa! (She giggles.) Where's the fire?

(They walk downstairs.)

Phoebe: Uh, you know, studying things. I had an illumination. Gotta go.

Piper: Well, we didn't even get to talk.

Phoebe: Uh, yeah, it's all right. Don't worry.

Piper: Will you come by later?

Phoebe: Sure. Yeah. Absolutely. Bye. (She waves and leaves.)

Piper: Bye.

(Piper looks suspiciously up the stairs.)

[Scene: Manor. Prue's room. Prue and Leo are there. Prue is scrying.]

Leo: Look, Prue, it isn't just that it's dangerous.

Prue: Leo, Whitelighters are supposed to guide. Not judge. Just because I'm doing things a little bit differently doesn't mean that there is a problem.

(She drops the crystal.)

Leo: Prue, I'm your brother-in-law, not just you're Whitelighter. When you speak to me like that, there is a problem. I can't help you unless you talk to me.

Prue: It hurts to talk, Leo. It hurts to breathe. So unless you have some idea of how to erase Phoebe's underworld memories and the darkness she had inside her, I don't want to talk right now.

Leo: Is that what you don't want to say? Is that you still blame me for not being able to bring her back?

Prue: No, Leo. I don't blame you. I blame evil. Why-why do you think I'm doing all this? For kicks?

Leo: Honestly, I think you're doing it because it's easier than confronting what you're really feeling.

(Prue starts scrying again and the crystal points to a place on the map.)

Prue: Demon.

Leo: What?

Prue: I have work to do. (She walks out of her room.) Piper, Cole! Let's go!

[Scene: Library. Phoebe is in a desk, looking at the book and writing things down on a paper. A guy, Donnie, walks in, checks out Phoebe and fixes his toupee.]

Donnie: Nothing like a library with a view. (He pours himself some coffee. Phoebe straightens up. Billy, a Phoebe's college classmate walks in.) Hey Clearasil, what's popping?

(Donnie laughs and leaves the room.)

Phoebe: Don't worry about him, Billy. He's a jerk.

Billy: Yeah, I know. That's why he's still in college. (Phoebe smiles.)

Billy: Are you trying to copy a book?

(She covers the book with her notes trying to hide it.)

Phoebe: Nah, it's nothing. It's cool.

Billy: Well, if you need me to help you, just say the word.

Phoebe: Thanks. You're sweet. (He smiles shyly and pours some coffee. Phoebe turns over the Book of Shadows and reads a Vanishing Spell.) "Let the object of objection become but a dream, as I cause the seen to be unseen." (Billy groans and magical light surrounds his face.) You okay, Billy?

Billy: Yeah. I just, uh, got a little head rush.

(He turns around to face Phoebe and she sees that his acne has cleared up.)

Phoebe: Oh my God, it worked. (She closes the Book.) Oh my god.

(She picks up the Book and goes over to Billy.)

Billy: Phoebe, is, uh, everything okay?

Phoebe: It will be from now on.

(She kisses him on the cheek and leaves. Billy smiles.)

[Scene: Alley. Prue, Phoebe and Cole are walking down it.]

Piper: Prue, Cole and I do not support you in this. If you insist on doing it, you are going in alone.

Prue: Okay. I'll see you at home.

Piper: (to Cole) I told you that wouldn't work.

Cole: It was worth a shot.

Piper: Wait a minute. Do you smell smoke?

(They stop walking.)

Prue: It's in there.

(Prue points to a large wooden door. There is smoke rising out from under it.)

Man: (from inside) What is that? What is it? Stop! Stop! (Cole walks over to the door.) Who is th- What are you?

Prue: Get back. Piper, blow it up. Go on.

Piper: Why am I your power girl now?

Prue: Oh, come on, Piper…

(Cole backs away from the door and Piper freezes Cole and the smoke.)

Prue: Uh, Piper...

Piper: Yeah, yeah. Crap. Okay.

(Piper takes off her coat and throws it on the ground. She wiggles her arms to relax herself then uses her power. The door blows up, sending Cole flying across the alley, landing on a car and falling off on the ground.)

Prue: Piper!

(Piper runs over to Cole.)

Piper: Cole? Are you okay?

Prue: He's a demon, he's fine… Oh!

(A man runs outside, knocking Prue over. Three furies follow. Piper helps Cole up. Prue gets ready to use her power.)

Cole: Prue, let them go!

(Prue waves her hand and a blast is thrown blowing up a car in front of the furies. They turn around.)

Prue: What the hell was that? Uh-oh. (Piper tries to freeze them but only freezes Cole.)

Piper: They're-they're-th-th-they're immune to my powers.

Prue: Unfortunately, Cole isn't. (A fury attacks Prue but she dodges their hits. Another goes for Piper. Piper picks up a trash can lid and the fury puts a hole in it. Prue kicks the furies, knocking them to the ground.) Piper, unfreeze him.

Piper: What if I blow him up?

(Cole unfreezes. A fury knocks down Prue and blows smoke in her mouth. She coughs.)

Piper: Cole!

(Cole throws an energy ball at a fury and she is engulfed in flames. The other two furies disappear. Prue continues to cough.)

[Scene: Manor. Prue, Piper and Cole enter the house.]

Prue: I'm gonna take out those chain-smokin' bitches if it's the last thing I do.

Cole: It might be the last thing you do.

Prue: That's very supportive, Cole. Who's side are you on?

Cole: At the moment, I'm on Phoebe's side.

(Prue coughs. Piper and Cole follow her into the kitchen.)

Prue: Well, the last time I checked, Phoebe was still my sister. Which technically puts her on my side. Why are we arguing?

Piper: We're not arguing, we're discussing, Prue. You are arguing. And look, you're already hurt.

Prue: I'm fine. (Prue takes a water bottle out of the fridge and has a sip.)

Piper: You can't stop coughing.

Cole: And your control of your powers seems to be getting worse.

(They walk out of the kitchen.)

Piper: Oh, well, our powers are tied to our emotions, so it would make sense that they would be a little off right now even if Prue's have evolved.

Cole: All the more reason to lay low. These demons are dangerous.

Prue: All the more reason to vanquish them, okay? That is what we do. Eliminate evil.

(They stop at the bottom of the stairs.)

Cole: Regardless of the consequences. Typical Prue.

Prue: Okay, Cole. I'm going to vanquish the cancer girls with or without your help. So either tell me what you know or get out of the way.

(Cole looks at Piper. She shrugs her shoulders.)

Cole: They're called furies.

Prue: Like from mythology?

Piper: The dog-faced women from hell?

Cole: They're modern knockoffs. Their m.o. is the same, though.

Prue: They punish evildoers?

Cole: Exactly.

Piper: Wait. Wouldn't that make them good?

Cole: Well, these furies have no temperance. They'll go after a shoplifter as soon as a murderer, and they take great pleasure in the kill.

Prue: Great. Then we'll take great pleasure in the vanquish.

(Prue goes up the stairs Piper stands in front of Cole.)

Piper: What aren't you telling us? (Cole sighs.) So they go after evildoers. Have they attacked you before?

Cole: When they focus their thoughts on you, they force you to hear the cries of all your former victims.

Piper: Phoebe trust you. And so are we. You're not the demon who did those things anymore.

(Prue screams from upstairs. Piper and Cole go up the stairs.)

[Cut to attic. Prue is standing in front of the empty Book of Shadows stand, mouth open in shock.]

Prue: Evil got the Book of Shadows. How did evil get the Book of Shadows?

Piper: Oh, no.

Prue: Oh, no, Piper? A demon has the Book of Shadows. "Oh no" doesn't quite cover it.

Cole: Let me go see what I can find out. (He turns to leave but Piper stops him.)

Piper: No, wait. Uh, Prue, promise me you're not going to overreact.

Prue: Is that even possible?

Piper: I think that, uh, maybe... well, it-it might-might be feasible that, uh, Phoebe took the book.

Prue: Wait, why-why would you think that?

Piper: See? Now this is what I meant about overreacting. It's just that...

Cole: You think Phoebe would take the Book of Shadows out of the Manor?

Piper: Well, no, I mean, not before, maybe now she's adjusting again. It's just she left pretty quick, and it looks like she might have...

(She looks at the open window.)

Prue: Out of the window?

Piper: Prue, I don't...

Prue: Piper, why would you even leave her alone with it?

Piper: Well, she has to adapt again, right? She's our sister.

(Prue laughs.)

Prue: Not for long!

(Prue storms out of the attic. Piper follows. Cole pulls up a chair and sits down. Piper runs back in.)

Piper: Are you coming?

Cole: To vanquish the love of my life? I think I'll sit this one out.

(Piper runs back out and Cole sits there twiddling his thumbs.)

[Scene: Library. Lila is looking at Billy's face.]

Lila: It's unbelievable.

Billy: Maybe it was the light from the copy machine.

(They start to walk through the library.)

Lila: God, this day is amazing. I mean, you went and got cute...

Billy: You think?

Lila: Totally. And then my car loan comes through, like, out of nowhere. (They pass Phoebe's desk. Phoebe is listening and she smiles.) My credit is worse than Phoebe's. You know, I still can't believe all of this.

Billy: It's amazing.

(Billy and Lila walk away.)

Phoebe: (whispering) Feels like it's white magic after all.

(Donnie comes up to her and stands behind her.)

Donnie: You know, Phoebe? (He talks in her ear.) As a future lawyer, I can get those nasty creditors off your back so easily. And if you can't afford to pay me, we could always just take it out in trade.

Phoebe: Or I could just sue your ass for sexual harassment and pay you with my big fat punitive settlement.

Donnie: The way you dress, the judge would admire my restraint. (He walks away.)

Phoebe: That's it. (She finds the Instant Karma Spell in the Book of Shadows.) Perfect. I'll just change demon to dirtbag.

[Cut to outside the library. Piper and Prue get out of the car and walk towards the building.]

Prue: I don't understand how someone can be that irresponsible.

Piper: I don't understand why you haven't stopped ranting since we left the house.

Prue: You're right. You're right. I'm sorry.

Piper: Yes, Phoebe made a mistake.

Prue: A mistake? She stole from us.

Piper: She borrowed. Borrowed.

Prue: She-she threw our family heritage out of the window!

Piper: Well, that's because she's been struggling a little in the last couple of weeks. She's doubting about all the magic thing. Maybe she just wanted to prove that our magic is for good with the book.

Prue: Okay, Piper, but it is not just a book. It's like, it-it-it is like a part of our family.

(Prue coughs. Piper puts her arm around Prue.)

Piper: Phoebe is not a killer. She didn't kill anyone. And she's not a demon that we're on our way to vanquish.

Prue: I get that, Piper.

Piper: Do you? Because I don't think that you do. (Prue coughs.) You all right?

(Donnie runs out of the building with a bunch of women following him.)

Donnie: Hey! Hey! Get away from me! (They surround him.)

Prue: What the hell is going on?

Lila: Come on. Give Mama some sugar.

(He sinks to the ground and they fall all over him. Phoebe comes out of the building holding her bag so it covers her chest. She goes over to Piper and Prue.)

Prue: You are so... (They notice something wrong and opens her coat to reveal her very large breasts.) Busted?

Piper: Hello!

Prue: You stole our sacred book so you could perform magical plastic surgery on yourself?

Phoebe: You think I did this on purpose? My body was perfectly fine just as it was. Thank you.

Donnie: I mean it! Get away from me!

Prue: Piper, please.

Piper: Prue, I could blow up a dozen innocent people.

Prue: I'll take a chance.

(Piper freezes the people).

Piper: See? Are you listening to yourself?

Prue: (to Phoebe) What happened?

Phoebe: I don't know. They just... grew.

Piper: Oh, right. And you had nothing to do with that.

Piper: Did you cast any spells?

Phoebe: One. (Piper gives her a look.) Five.

Prue: Five?

Piper: Okay, what did you do just before you turned into Betty Boop?

Phoebe: Well, I cast a spell on this slimeball I study with so I could give him a taste of his own medicine.

Piper: Uh-huh. That the slimeball?

(Phoebe looks at Donnie and nods.)

Prue: And that's the backfire.

Phoebe: Why there's always to be a backfire?

Piper: You misused magic to make him the object of ogling, and the spell backfired and did the same thing to you.

Prue: Which you would have remembered if you had bothered to ask. But now instead of vanquishing demons, we're gonna have to spend the afternoon fixing your mess.

Piper: Okay, Prue, call Leo and get him to orb this slimeball back home. And we have to protect him until we can figure out a way to reverse the spell. Phoebe and I will grab the book and meet you there.

(Prue looks at Phoebe and shakes her head. She walks away. Phoebe looks down at her breasts.)

[Time lapse. Phoebe and Piper are driving along the road in Piper's car. Phoebe is driving and Piper's sitting in the passenger seat looking through the Book of Shadows.]

Phoebe: Are my boobs gonna stay this way forever?

Piper: Not if I can ever find the spell.

Phoebe: What about Prue? Is she gonna stay mad at me forever?

Piper: No. It's just, um... she hasn't really been herself lately. You know, a lot of ups and downs since… you know.

Phoebe: The last thing I wanted to do was add to your guys' stress. I just wanted to get back at Donnie.

Piper: Yeah, and I understand the temptation, Phoebe, I really do. But I told you the book does not leave the house and you knew it. I feel like we're regressed two years back and these kinds of things happened to us every week.

Phoebe: Right. Sorry. Did you find the spell yet? (Piper finds a page about furies.)

Piper: No, but I found the demons. Oh my God.

Phoebe: What? You can't say "demons" followed by "oh my god". I'm still adjusting, I'm likely to panic.

Piper: Okay, uh, fury smoke kills bad guys, right? But in good people, it looks for a portal of unexpressed fury.

Phoebe: And?

Piper: It builds until it consumes your humanity and it turns you into a fury. Um, we fought the furies today. Prue got smoked.

Phoebe: Wait. Are you saying that Prue's turning into a demon?

Piper: It wouldn't be the first time, right? (Phoebe gives her a funny look.) Uh, step on it and hit the clutch. I'm going into fourth. Ready? On three. One, two, three. (She changes to fourth.)

[Cut to the manor. Donnie lands on the couch.]

Leo: Easy, Prue.

Prue: What, are you protecting him now?

Donnie: Wh-wh-what the hell is going on? And what's with the chicks? They've gone crazy.

Prue: This chick just saved your ass you snivelling ingrate. (Donnie gets up.)

Donnie: Do you see what I mean?

Prue: Who said you could get up? (She pushes him over the back of the couch.)

Leo: What's the matter with you? Okay, Prue look, I don't know what's going on, but this has to stop now.

Prue: Leo, you know what? I'm sick of everything.

(Prue tries to throw Leo but Leo orbs out in time. Prue goes over to Donnie. Leo orbs back in.)

Leo: Now we really need to talk. Prue, you do not use your powers on a mortal. (He stands behind her.) Do you hear me?

(Cole stands at the doorway.)

Cole: Back away slowly, Leo.

Leo: What?

Cole: She's becoming a fury. (Prue grows large black fingernails.) There's no reasoning with her now. (Leo stands in front of her.)

Leo: Prue, you're a good witch. Do you hear me? Fight this.

(Prue looks at his face, then pushes him over the couch.)

Donnie: Oh God! Help!

(Prue goes over and scratches Donnie. Cole gets an energy ball ready. Prue picks up Donnie and blows smoke. Cole throws an energy ball at Prue which pushes her back. Phoebe and Piper walk in.)

Phoebe: Cole!

Cole: I, well...

Prue: That wasn't very nice.

(She disappears in a puff of smoke.)

[Scene: Manor. Living room. Piper is looking through the Book of Shadows, and Leo is kneeling beside Donnie, who is asleep on the couch.]

Leo: Cole hit her with an energy ball.

Piper: Leo, it was a low voltage. Would you prefer he'd let her kill an innocent?

Leo: I'd prefer that he wouldn't use his demonic powers on a witch. I can't believe that you let him go look for her.

Phoebe: Oh, this all my fault. I shouldn't have stolen the Book of Shadows.

Leo: You stole the Book of Shadows?

Phoebe: Leo, Leo. Concentrate please. (Leo heals Donnie's scratches.) I just hope he finds her fast because if this is anything like the time I turned into a Banshee, she's gonna be hungry for a kill. (Leo stands up.)

Piper: Please, don't remember me that.

Phoebe: I think I need to sit down.

(She sits on the couch next to Donnie. Donnie wakes up and sits up and stares straight at Phoebe's breasts.)

Donnie: Whoa.

(Phoebe punches him in the face, knocking him out.)

Leo: Phoebe!

(Phoebe stands up.)

Phoebe: What? You only said I couldn't use magic to punish him.

(Piper stands up.)

Piper: Okay, Leo, you orb Donnie back to the library, heal him there, then make sure he doesn't narc us out for being witches.

Leo: How?

Piper: I don't know. Be creative.

Leo: What about Prue?

Piper: You have to do your job. And let us do ours. We'll get our sister back.

(Leo touches Donnie and they orb out. Phoebe and Piper sit on the couch.)

Phoebe: Um, I hate to ask, but how are we going to get Prue back? I mean, she's kind of a... full-on demon.

Piper: No. She's not full-on. She doesn't have the talons yet. That probably comes with the first kill. Besides, if we were able to save her when she married a warlock...

Phoebe: Oh, god. Vietnam memories.

Piper: (She finds the Instant Karma Spell in the Book of Shadows.) Is this the spell that you used?

Phoebe: Uh-huh. (Phoebe picks up a notepad and pen.)

Piper: What word did you sub demon with?

Phoebe: Dirtbag.

Piper: Dirtbag. (Phoebe writes something down and scrunches up the paper up. She stands up.)

Phoebe: Okay. (She gets Piper to stand up.) Hand. (They join hands. Phoebe burns the tip of the paper with a lit candle.) "Guided spirits, hear our plea, annul this magic, let it be." (Phoebe's breasts return to normal size. She looks down and groans.) Do you think it worked a little too well?

[Scene: Alley. A man pushes another man against the wall. He holds a knife to his throat.]

Innocent man: Anything you want.

Man: Shut up.

(Two furies come up behind him and one scratches his back. He spins around and the innocent runs away. The man hears voices in his head. He drops the knife and falls to his knees. The fury blows smoke in his mouth. He coughs and is engulfed in flames. He disappears. Prue appears in a puff of smoke behind them. They turn around and make purring-like noises.)

Prue: I've been looking for you.

[Cut to the manor. Dining room. Piper and Phoebe are there. Piper is scrying.]

Piper: Damn it.

Phoebe: Why isn't it working?

Piper: Because Piper isn't a witch anymore.

Phoebe: Can't you just scry for evil then?

Piper: Do you have any idea how much evil is running around San Francisco? (She stops scrying.) Damn it, Prue. (Cole shimmers in. He is bruised and scratched.)

Phoebe: Cole. Thank God. (Phoebe hugs him.)

Cole: Don't thank him yet.

Piper: You didn't find her?

Cole: I didn't get a chance to look. Every time I used my sensing powers, a bounty hunter sensed me. I fought off three of them. (He sits down at the table.) I'm sorry.

Phoebe: No, it's-it's okay. I mean, somehow everything's gonna be okay. I-I don't have even a little idea of how everything's gonna be okay.

Piper: Phoebe...

Phoebe: You know why? Because nothing is okay.

Piper: Phoebe.

Phoebe: My sister is a fury, my boyfriend is a demon... Oh, baby, you're bleeding. (She kneels down next to Cole.)

Piper: Phoebe. (Phoebe looks at her.) When we were trying to reach you in the underworld, Prue cast a spell to find a lost witch

Phoebe: Yes, but I also said that Prue's not a witch anymore.

Piper: Yes, but if you can substitute the word 'dirtbag' for 'demon', why can't we substitute the word 'sister' for 'witch'?

Cole: Would that work?

Phoebe: Well, n-no. Not if she's already looking for a kill. The call won't be strong enough.

Piper: Why not?

Phoebe: Because of the pull of evil. When I was possessed by the Woogie and the venom of the Source, the blood lust was so strong...

Cole: Woogie?

Piper: Don't ask.

Phoebe: The point is... I don't think she'll answer the call.

(Silence.)

Piper: Then we'll add bait.

(Piper glances at Cole, then looks at Phoebe. Phoebe looks at Cole and he looks back.)

Phoebe: No. No. Uh, no. Are you kidding me? No.

Piper: The furies go after evildoers, right?

Phoebe: Piper, we are not using the love of my life as bait.

Cole: Oh, yes we are. It's perfect.

(He stands up and goes near Piper.)

Phoebe: Cole, you have been a demon for over a century. That is a lot of victims. The pain of their cries alone can kill you.

Cole: Yes, but I'm not the demon that did those things anymore. And if facing my crimes helps save your sister…

Phoebe: Cole, I...

Cole: Phoebe. (He sits back down next to her.) I would do almost anything for you, you know that. But I will not be a coward for you. Please don't ask me to be. (Phoebe touches his face.)

Phoebe: We'll need some of your blood.

Cole: Right.

Piper: I'll get a knife. (She goes to the kitchen and grabs a knife. She holds it out in front of Cole.)

[Time lapse. Phoebe and Piper are standing at the table. Phoebe is holding a knife above a lit candle.]

Phoebe/Piper: "Power of the sisters rise, course unseen across the skies, come to us who call you near..."

[Cut to the alley. The furies are touching Prue's hair. Prue is wearing fury clothes and has talons on her face. She hears Phoebe and Piper chanting.]

Phoebe/Piper: "Come to us and settle here. Blood to blood, I summon thee, blood to blood, return to me."

Prue: I know where evil dwells.

[Scene: Manor. Parlor. Phoebe, Piper and Cole are there. Cole is pacing.]

Piper: Are you sure about this?

Cole: I'm good at a lot of things. Waiting is not one of them.

(Phoebe makes a noise and throws her arms down.)

Piper: Honey, what are you doing?

Phoebe: I'm trying to do that levitating thingy. I can't seem to get the hang of my powers after I returned from the underworld. (Cole yells in her face and she levitates.) What happened?

Piper: You levitated.

Phoebe: I did?

Cole: It's a fear response.

Piper: So until you learn how to control it again, you just have to...

Phoebe: Get scared?

Piper: Pretty much.

Phoebe: All right. Well, that shouldn't be too difficult.

Piper: Good. Then we will orb, we will levitate, we will juggle knives if we have to.

Phoebe: Just to keep the furies distracted from Cole.

Piper: Okay, but what I don't get is how we un-demon Prue when she gets here.

Phoebe: Well, we have to close the portal of unexpressed fury.

Cole: Unexpressed? I think she's been raging for days.

Phoebe: That's 'cause there's something she's not saying.

Piper: Which is?

Phoebe: I don't know, but I think I have an idea. (Cole yells out in pain and drops to his knees. He hears voices. Phoebe kneels beside him.) They're close?

Piper: They're coming.

Cole: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

(A fury barges in through the front door. Phoebe levitates and kicks her, knocking her down. She gets up and attacks Phoebe. Phoebe blocks and kicks her back down. Prue and the other fury appear behind Phoebe near Cole. Phoebe spins around.)

Piper: Phoebe! They're immune to my powers.

Phoebe: Nice decoy, Piper. Two points. (She levitates and kicks them both, knocking them down. She sees Cole lying on the floor.) Cole. Come on. Come on. (She tries to get him up. The furies surround them.)

Piper: (Uses her power hitting a fury but not destroying her. The furies turn around.) Sorry. (The furies go over to her.) Really sorry.

(Cole throws an energy ball at the two furies and kills them. Prue pushes Phoebe out of the way and scratches Cole's chest.)

Phoebe: Cole is not your problem, Prue, and you know it.

(Prue attacks Phoebe and Phoebe blocks her hits.)

Piper: (Gets the Book of Shadows. She starts flipping through it.) Please let there be something in here.

(Phoebe kicks Prue down. Cole gets an energy ball ready.)

Phoebe: Cole, don't! (He stops the energy ball.) You think I abandoned you. You think it's my fault that you almost died. You blame me. You should just admit it.

(Prue sends Phoebe flying straight into a cabinet, smashing it. Prue goes over to Piper.)

Piper: You don't want to kill me, Prue. (Cole goes over to Phoebe.) It's not about me. It's not about Cole, is it?

Phoebe: Leo!

(Leo orbs in. Prue tries to scratch Piper, but she dodges.)

Piper: Phoebe's not the sister who abandoned you. (Prue grabs Piper by the neck.)

Phoebe: Leo, do something.

(Leo grabs Prue and faces Phoebe.)

Cole: What is he doing?

Phoebe: What he has to do.

(Prue backs away when she sees Phoebe in front of her.)

Piper: Tell her, Prue. It's all right to hate her. (Prue tries to get rid of Leo but she can't.) You should hate her. It is okay to hate Phoebe.

(Prue looks at Piper.)

Prue: How dare you! (She runs over to Phoebe and bangs on her.) How dare you leave me! How could you go and almost die and leave me here all alone? I need you. (She starts to cry.)

(She screams and sinks down on the ground. She sits there and bawls. She changes back to normal. Piper and Phoebe kneel down beside her.)

Phoebe: It's okay. It's okay, honey.

Prue: It's not okay. You risked your life and never thought about what would happen to me and Piper if you were gone. (Piper starts to cry and so does Phoebe.)

Phoebe: I know.

Prue: How could you think that I could live without you?

(The three of them hug.)

[Scene: Manor. Kitchen. The next morning. Prue is there pouring two cups of coffee. Piper comes in and sits on a stool. Prue hands her a cup of coffee.]

Piper: Did you sleep?

Prue: Yeah, actually, better than I have in a while.

Piper: Mmm. It's quiet, isn't it? Early and late. It's just really, really quiet.

Prue: So, how scary was I?

(Piper laughs. Prue sits next to her.)

Piper: Heck, I've seen worse. I've been worse. But, uh, but Phoebe...

Prue: She completely freaked.

Piper: No, uh, she handled it... better than most people would, I think. She saved your life. She definitely is back.

Prue: I know I haven't been the most welcoming. I just... I was very worried about her. It's hard to imagine opening up again and that something like that happens to us again. With everything that happens in our lives, love just feels like an invitation for more pain.

Piper: So maybe, um... maybe you don't start with love. Maybe you just start with thanks.

[Scene: Phoebe's room. Prue walks in holding a basket of muffins. She spots Phoebe at her desk and walks over to her. She puts the basket on her desk. Phoebe looks up at her, surprised. She looks in the basket.]

Phoebe: Muffins. Thanks.

Prue: Busywork. I'm best in killing demons. You know Piper is better in the kitchen.

Phoebe: So, how are you?

Prue: I've had, uh... bad hours. (She sits down.) And hours that aren't quite so bad. I guess you know how it is.

Phoebe: Yeah. In this couple of weeks, there were some days I didn't think I'd survive the sadness. I promise, it will get better.

Prue: Okay, uh, you saved my life, so I guess we're even on the Book of Shadows swipe, but, um, Phoebe, you have to talk to us. I don't want to lose you again.

Phoebe: I know and I'm sorry. I was just thinking in me and my relationship. I didn't even care about Shax and the innocent… And I must not forget what's our job.

Prue: We're the protectors of the innocent.

Phoebe: We're known as the Charmed Ones.

Prue: And most important…

Phoebe: We are sisters. Forever and always.

(Prue smiles at Phoebe and hugs her. Phoebe smiles a little to herself.)
