AN: Sup y'all. I got side tracked with life obligations so this is a bit late.I'm pretty sure this chapter is gonna seem a bit OOC on Rick's part. That's on purpose for the sake of how I'm portraying this part of his character after the last chapter. If he seems too OOC to you, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Hope y'all enjoy.
Morty didn't know what part of that actually made him cry: the validation or the fact he just made an assumption about Rick being that big of a dick. "Yo-You mean it?" Morty shakily asks. Rick nods and says "I-I-I may be an ass-asshole but that doe-doesn't mean it isn't va-valid." He looks at his grandpa who is staring more towards the wall in the dark. "Y-You aren't gonna… Y'kn-Y'know, erase th-this from my me-memory, right?"
Rick sighs loudly. He should have known this question was coming. He couldn't say he blamed Morty's question nonetheless as he'd done it before. Every memory he didn't want Morty to remember would be removed but… He feels that this is not one he wants to remove for the sake of being embarrassed or being a fucking moron. "Morty, I-I'm not going t-to remove this fr-from your memory." He sighed out, more upset that it came up rather than annoyed he asked. Rick is not the best at being comforting, Morty knows that, hell everyone in the family knows that. But today, he's trying. Even if it's more out of character for him to do so.
Morty fidgeted with his fingers. He doesn't quite know what to think about this, other than the fact he is more surprised he gave a shit about how he felt for once. "Yo-You're not just sa-saying that to keep me he-here right?" He asks, half hoping Rick would actually look at him. Instead, Rick takes a drink from his flask before speaking to stop feeling sober and having a goddamn hangover. "Morty, yo-(urrrp)-u don't have mu-much of an option bu-but to stay here." He says in a matter of fact voice. Morty sighs and looks at him again. "That doesn't answer my question," He starts and clears his throat. This was half an attempt to grab Rick's attention and to keep his stuttering down a bit. "You're not just saying that to keep me here right, Rick?"
He looks towards Morty, taking another sip of the alcohol before he says anything. It's his way of thinking even when he's too drunk to coherently think. "N-No, Morty, I'm n-not just (uurrrp) sa-saying that so yo-you'll stay here." Rick finally answers. He takes a big swig after he answers in an attempt to not be talked to about these kinds of things. This kid is gonna make me need more alcohol. He thinks to himself. From the corner of his eye, he sees Morty's face. His face looks both relieved and half way to not trusting him.
He's changed somehow.. I don't really know how but he did. Morty thinks to himself and shifts his gaze towards the floor. He doesn't know what to say. He started to watch his hands and breathed slowly to fully calm himself down. The nightmare-like dream took him for a mental ride. The noise subsides when he can breathe and focus but when trying to focus on something else, it causes him to hear it all over again. He sharply inhales when he's pulled towards Rick's side while sitting on the bed. It caught him off guard, so he looked to see Rick's hand on his left arm. "M-Morty."
Morty's staring gaze at Rick's hand was broken by his name being called. "W-We're gonna get ou-outta here, Mo-(uuurrppp)-ty." Rick said soft yet drunkenly. Morty didn't mind being in the slight, what could be considered an embrace by Rick's standards. It actually made him feel better about his life choice to stay with him and gave his mind a reason not to worry. He felt relieved that his grandpa was making at least an effort.
After Chapter AN: I am prewriting a few chapters to get them out quicker. A lot of the story has already been developed so it's possible that I'll be able to get em out quicker and add them to the doc manager.A head's up for future chapters: many might be based off of songs I listen to while writing. Be aware that I won't put in the lyrics but it'll have potentially a reference to it or have the same feeling as the song.Anyways, stay tuned for the next chapter.
