Summary: Caitlin sighed and contemplated making another attempt but, well... she'd never had good aim as it was and these kinds of games were always rigged too. She could knock the top row of the bottles off as many times as she wanted, but the bottom row persisted no matter how she tried.

"Which stuffed animal were you wanting?" Asks quite possibly the most beautiful woman Caitlin's ever seen.

Falling For You

Caitlin checked her watch and sighed, wondering if showing up early to the fair had really been a great idea after all. She had figured she'd wander around the art booths before lunch, drop off any purchases at her car, and then meet up with Cisco to do the rides and then the wine tasting tent after dinner, but...

She consulted her map again and frowned. She could have sworn this was the way to the art booths, but instead it seemed she'd gotten lost in the fair grounds.

"Okay, so if I'm here," she muttered to herself, squinting at the map, "but I started there and took a wrong turn somewhere then... I should just backtrack..." Caitlin slowly turned around and then looked up... and froze.

Across the crowded walkway was one of those fair games that everyone knew was rigged. The sort where the bottom row of bottles was weighted to keep them from falling down easily. And Caitlin would have dismissed it as a waste of money except... there was a Grumpy Bear up for grabs. A classic, eighties design style Grumpy Bear. Who knew where they'd even gotten their hands on such a thing, but Caitlin... she had to have it. She'd been a massive Care Bears fan as a kid and Grumpy had been her favorite. Care Bears in Wonderland had been her favorite of the movies, and though she'd deny it to her dying day... Caitlin still knew all the words to Grumpy Bear's rap song from the credits.

So Caitlin made her way over to the booth, tried not to grimace over how much just one throw cost, and paid for several attempts. The unfortunate truth, however, was that she could knock the top row of the bottles off as many times as she wanted, but the bottom row persisted no matter how she tried. After her throw went wide enough that it barely tapped into the left-most bottle, Caitlin sighed and admitted defeat, stepping away from the booth. Looked like things between her and Grumpy just weren't meant to be.

"Which stuffed animal were you wanting?"

Startled, Caitlin turned to look at quite possibly the most beautiful woman she's ever seen. "The, uh, the Grumpy Bear doll."

Winking at her, the woman turned towards the booth and bought herself a toss. And then, eying the bottles carefully, she threw the ball hard, hitting the middle bottle near the bottom with enough force that the whole thing came tumbling down. All the bottles clattered to the ground and Caitlin grinned, cheering for her. Then she pointed out the Grumpy Bear and handed it to Caitlin with a flourish.

"A cute bear for an even cuter woman," she declared, making Caitlin blush. "Hi, I'm Iris."

"C-Caitlin." Blushing, Caitlin accepted Grumpy and held him against her chest, squeezing him tightly. Not a ridiculously big bear, but just the right size to tote around the fair with ease. "Thank you so much. I... can I buy you lunch?"

Iris grinned. "I would love to have lunch with you. Think we can find something that hasn't been fried half a dozen times before being served?"

"Well, I mean, first we'd have to navigate our way to the food stalls. And I'm apparently really bad at following maps. But I'm sure we'll find something." Caitlin tucked her new teddy bear under her arm and held out her free hand towards Iris. "So we, uh, don't get separated..."

She took Caitlin's hand in hers. "Well, this day is just getting better and better. Though I'm not only good at fair games. I can follow maps too."

Caitlin blushed brightly and she wasn't sure her smile could get any wider. Iris was right, though. The day was only getting better and better...
