Sorry a new chapter took so long to post. I know where I want this story to do, but it's been hard to put into words. Enjoy and thanks for reading.
Kia walked along quietly with Saurfang as they neared Orgrimmar. They had portaled as close as they dared and were now walking. It would only be a day or two before they were discovered by a passing patrol and would be taken to see the warchief.
For as pregnant as she was, Kia felt amazingly good walking along. She knew night elves were known to be very active when carrying a child, even in the later stages, but it was nice to find the knowledge true for her, regardless of her half breed status. She was nervous and scared, but at least her body was holding up.
Saurfang paused for a moment, looking back at Kia. "Do you need to rest, Your Majesty?" He asked gruffly.
"I'm fine. I can go a bit farther. And please, don't call me Your Majesty. I'm not your queen and an enemy would not show me that kind of respect." Kia smiled at him. "Though I do appreciate your concern."
The orc nodded curtly in agreement, then turned and continued to walk.
Just before nightfall, they made camp just a few miles away from their destination. Though he didn't admit it openly, Kia could tell her orc companion was trying to help make her comfortable, having picked a spot to camp which allowed for a semi comfortable place to sleep next to several trees. Once full dark fell, they sat quietly next to a fire, listening to the sounds of night all around them while they ate a simple meal of cheese, bread and fruit.
"Tomorrow, I'll need to bind your hands and tie a lead on you, if we're going to make this plan of yours work." Saurfang said, breaking the silence as he drank deeply from a mug of ale. They had brought enough supplies with them to last until they were discovered, though nothing too extravagant. He was an escaped prisoner, afterall.
Kia nodded, though the gesture was hard to see in the light of the small fire. "I know. Do what you must. I'm ready."
Saurfang growled slightly, Kia's calm being more irritating than reassuring to him. "This is a stupid Idea. Brave, but also very stupid. You're going to get yourself and your child killed."
"I'm taking a very large risk." Kia replied. "But what choice do I have? What choice does anyone have? If nothing is done, there will be no future for any of us, Alliance or Horde."
Saurfang glared at Kia. He didn't know exactly what the plan was after he delivered the queen to Orgrimmar, but King Anduin had to be desperate to put his mate and his only heir in a dangerous situation such as this. The orc knew his part, but wasn't completely clear on the young half breed's plans.
"You know full well the kinds of things Sylvanas will do to you. She won't care about your condition. In fact, she'll probably be more likely to torture you because of it. She'll make you suffer, to make the king suffer. To make the druid suffer."
"This will work. It has to." Kia replied, fully aware of the things the undead banshee queen would plan to do with the grand prize the newly escaped Saurfang had taken from Stormwind. Kia was banking on being too valuable to kill outright, since the orc was right about Sylvanas most likely wanting to make both Anduin and Malfurion suffer.
Saurfang grunted again. "I don't share your confidence, but I will do my part. For the chance to get my Horde back." He leaned back, settling in. "Get some rest. It starts tomorrow."
Kia leaned up against the fallen tree she was using as a backrest and closed her eyes. She doubted she'd fall asleep, but the exertion of the day compounded with her condition ended up making her pass out almost as soon as the talking stopped. Her last thought before slipping off to sleep was a prayer that Anduin knew Sylvanas as well as he thought he did and Kia and her child would both, somehow, making it out of this alive.
