After showering and dressing himself in what he had worn last night, Aegon headed into the kitchen where he found Karen at the stove, obviously cooking breakfast. "Nope. It's maple syrup," Karen replied as she ate a forkful of pancakes.
"Maple. As in maple trees?" Aegon clarified and Karen nodded in response. "How can one eat tree sap?" he asked in disbelief.
"Believe it or not, maple syrup is actually delicious and a much healthier alternative to honey," Karen said. Upon seeing the look on Aegon's face she added, "It's not gonna kill you. Serving you poison at breakfast, lunch or dinner would be the last way I would kill you."

"Right," Aegon muttered as he cut up a piece of pancake that had been doused in maple syrup and speared it with his fork before bringing it to his mouth. "Very much so," Aegon replied. "You'd make a good wife one day," he said off-handed before cringing and made to say an apology but Karen beat him to it.

"I understand," Aegon said reluctantly as he and Karen stood to their feet. Aegon pulled the waistband of his pants back up. With a burst of super-speed, Karen was dressed in her Power Girl uniform. Aegon placed the Gorget of St George on and grabbed Blackfyre. Opening the window, Karen hoisted Aegon up by his shoulders into the air and they flew towards where the shootout was happening.
Arriving at the scene, Karen and Aegon saw the shootout was between some female police officers and Intergang thugs. "Intergang! What the hell are they doing here?" Karen cursed as she prepared to stand between the gangsters and the police. Aegon moved to help with any wounded and bring them to safety.
Karen just let the Intergang thugs fire upon her, focussing their fire on her then one of the gangsters pulled out a missile launcher and aimed not at Karen, but at a police squad car. The RPG burst out of the barrel in a blast of flame, Karen sped off after it and caught just mere inches away from the squad car. Aegon then moved in summoning his armour onto himself.
"Grab him! The boss wants him alive!" one of the Intergang thugs shouted.
Aegon snorted as he attacked the thugs, the sharp Valyrian blade cutting through their body armour like they were made of cloth. Aegon refrained from killing the thugs, but he opted to knock them out instead and leave them with a few good cuts.
After disposing of the missile, Karen flew back onto the scene where she found Aegon standing over his beaten opponents, wiping the blade of his sword clean. "They're still alive right?" Karen asked the Valyrian who nodded in response.
"What did Intergang want here? A bank robbery is too small-time for them," Karen then said.
"As soon as they saw me, they tried to capture me," Aegon said. "I think I was their real target," he added grimly.
"Yeah, but they had to be idiots if they thought a small crew was all it would take to snatch you," Karen replied.
Then a male voice spoke from behind Karen. "Oh no, those were just an appetiser." Karen turned around and was met with a metal fist to her face which sent her flying back into a wall, cracking it deeply. Aegon ran over to Karen's side.
"Are you alright?" Aegon asked her. Karen cracked her neck before saying, "Just caught off guard, that's all," she said before standing to her feet and she looked to see who it was that had sucker-punched her and it was a familiar sight.
A tall broad-shouldered man with dark blonde hair cut short wearing military fatigues stood there with a smirk on his face.
"Another man?" Aegon asked. "How are you alive?"
"He's an android! Metallo!" Karen said in anger.
"In the flesh, so to speak," Metallo grinned as he partly opened up his shirt to reveal a green glow behind his skin. "And while I can't say that I didn't want to kill Superman myself, the virus did the job for me," he chuckled.
"What is it you want, Corben?" Karen demanded.
"I'm a simple man, alien," John Corben AKA Metallo replied. "Intergang's new boss hired me to bring in the kid," he said pointing at Aegon. "Apparently, she and the egg-headettes have an idea of how to transfer my consciousness into his brain. I'll be human again!"
"Over my dead body!" Aegon spat as he readied his sword.
"Well, you'll be mostly dead when I bring you in to Maria," Metallo chuckled as his eyes glowed green before firing a blast from them. Karen stood in the way and took the blast; she yelled in pain as the Kryptonite lasers burned her skin.
"My lady?!" Aegon yelled in shock and dismay. Growling in rage, Aegon surged past Karen and charged towards Metallo and swung his sword at the cyborg. The Valryian blade bit deep into Metallo's robotic body, stripping away the false flesh he wore on the outside. Metallo swung a fist at Aegon who barely managed to duck in time and he tried to tackle the cyborg to the ground. Metallo laughed before he grabbed Aegon and spun him around before throwing him. Aegon grunted in pain and discomfort as he hit the side of a police car. Shaking his head to shake off the dizziness, Aegon looked up to see Metallo looming over him.
Metallo lifted his foot to stomp on Aegon; Aegon rolled out of the way just as Metallo's boot came down, leaving a small crater in the road. Scrambling to his feet, Aegon held Blackfyre ready before thrusting the blade towards Metallo's face. Metallo gave a grunt of surprise as the fake skin of his face was cut away revealing his featureless cybernetic head underneath.
"My face?! You ruined my face!" Metallo screamed in rage and he tried to grab Aegon in an effort to choke him. Suddenly Karen appeared behind the cyborg and grabbed his arms holding them back with her all strength.
"Cut out the Kryptonite!" Karen shouted to Aegon. "In his chest! Cut it out!"
Aegon nodded and launched himself at Metallo and with his bare hands, he ripped away from the false skin and revealed the glowing green kryptonite heart that powered the cyborg. Wrenching it out, Aegon tossed the radioactive mineral away and Metallo screamed, "No!" as his systems lost power and now all he had left was the back-up power. Karen released her hold on the cyborg confident that he was no longer a threat.
"Nice job, Aegon," the Kryptonian complimented Aegon who nodded and sighed in relief.
"What about that?" Aegon then asked indicating the still present kryptonite.
"Let the police take care of it," Karen said. "I'll just my distance from it," she added.
Soon enough the emergency services came in and some STAR Labs technicians came by to safely remove the Kryptonite. As the police officer's prepared to move Metallo onto a prison van, some women dressed in black suits drove in and took Metallo, flashing some form of ID to the protesting police officers. Aegon watched as Metallo was hustled into one of the cars and they drove off. "What was that all about?" he asked Karen who had also been watching.
"Nothing good I'll bet," Karen replied and she then noticed the news crews rushing into to get interviews and quotes. "And here comes the circus," she said tiredly. Almost immediately, the media surrounded Aegon who looked perturbed by all the questions thrown his way and the camera flashes were disorienting to him.
"Mr Targaryen! What is your relationship with Power Girl?" was one question.
"Are you dating any of the Justice League?" was another query thrown at Aegon.
And there was even a lurid and frankly rude question that was asked of Aegon, "Have you had sex with all the Justice League?"
"Okay, question time is over!" Karen stated as she flew over and lifted Aegon out of the throng of reporters. They then flew over to a nearby rooftop where Karen set Aegon down and asked him, "Are you okay?" Her face was etched into an expression of concern.
"I'm fine," Aegon replied in a slightly shaky voice. "Gods! Those… people!" he said as if calling the reporters people was too nice to describe them. "Don't they have any concept of personal space?" he asked.
"Yeah, the media's a circus," Karen said apparently agreeing with Aegon's sentiment. "But you're probably gonna face more of it in future," she added grimly.
"Must I?" Aegon looked at her pleadingly and Karen shrugged her shoulders in response which caused Aegon to slump his shoulders in defeat. "Bloody vultures!" he muttered darkly.
"Are you okay? You wanna head back home?" Karen offered.
"I don't want to dictate the schedule of your day," Aegon said. "Let's just get on with patrolling the city, take my mind off those buzzards," he added.
"Okay, let's do that then," Karen said with a nod of her head. Together, they patrolled the city for a couple of hours before heading back to Karen's apartment through the window. Stinky was there to greet them and he gave a meow of greeting.
"Hello, Stinky," Aegon said to the feline with a tired smile as he sat on the sofa. Stinky then jumped up onto the couch and sat on Aegon's lap and looked up at him. Aegon smiled and as he stroked the cat's soft ginger fur and said cat purred contentedly.
"I think he likes you," Karen commented as she stook her cape and gloves off and set them on the kitchenbench.

"I know you are, but after last night and this morning? Well, I think we can address each other less formally," Karen said as she tapped her smartphone to order a pizza.
"Very well then," Aegon said nodding his head.
Karen finished the order and spoke, "Pizza should be here in thirty minutes. Plenty of time to shower," she said and she looked at Aegon. "Coming?" she asked him.
"You can have first shower, I'll wait for mine," Aegon said in a gentlemanly manner.
Karen smiled sultrily and said, "Who said we were gonna get cleaned up?" She then pulled the hidden zipper of her costume down and stripped off completely before toeing off her boots so that she was naked in front of Aegon.

"Remember what I said about time and practice?" Aegon nodded.
