Archelaus and Aphrodite spent the entire day watching south park. They laughed, sometimes crying as well they had laughed so hard. At the end of the day they fell asleep together on the couch, his arm wrapped around her shoulders, her head laying on his right pec. His head leaning on hers, happy, truly happy. For the first time in a very long time, they were both happy.

We stepped off the train, having an hour layover period before the next train departed. "Oh! Can we visit the St. Louis Arch percy? Please?" Katie practically begged. I sighed, I guess the fates really want me to fight Echidna and the Chimera. I nodded, "Sure, knock yourself out." I told her, smiling slightly. She grabbed my hand and dragged me along with her, Grover following close behind. We went into an underground entrance and I heard Grover sniffing the air. "Smells like monsters.." He muttered to himself. "I hate the underground, it always smells like monsters." He kept talking to himself. "Don't worry G-man, if it comes down to it I will protect you." I told him, trying to reassure him. He smiled a bit and nodded, "Thanks Perce." He said gratefully. I turned back forwards and activated Observe, intent on leveling it up. I dismissed the popups as they came, looking around for Echidna and her son. After a minute of travel we reached the elevator. We got crammed in, when suddenly I heard a yip. I looked behind me to see a tiny chihuahua on a leash, nearly foaming at the mouth while growling at me. And the leash held by an incredibly fat woman. "Now Sonny, calm down, be patient." She said. I used Observe them, although I already knew who they were.

Description- The Chimera is an abomination born from the union of Typhon and Echidna. It is an amalgamation of a Cobra, a Goat, and a Lion. It's hide is one of the toughest in the monster kingdom, being able to withstand blows from even celestial bronze. It breathes fire from it's mouths and the snake tail has one of the deadliest venoms known to immortals. It is hungry and wants to eat the demigods in front of him.
What. The. Actual. Fuck. This is insane! I know I am as powerful as people like 3 to 4 times my level, but this is ridiculous! I don't know if I can even kill the Chimera, much less his mother who has 20000 more health than him. While she is weaker I am sure she has tricks up her sleeve.
I gulped loudly and gave her the most innocent smile I could. " Is your chihuahua's name Sonny?" I asked Echidna in the most innocent voice I could, while keeping my anxiety hidden. "No." She said simply. I turned back to the front, discreetly sliding my hand into the pocket with riptide. I knew riptide did 1000 damage, which when facing normal monsters and demigods is a lot. But the description said the Chimera's hide is strong enough to stop even celestial bronze. If I want to make it out of this alive I am going to have to go all out possibly. The opposite of me, was the tiny piece of my mind that always craved a fight. It was raring to go, begging me to tear apart the two monsters behind me. I pushed it down.
Ding! The elevator door opened and the passengers all filed out. I walked around for about a minute, pretending not to know about the monsters trailing me. After I was fed up of walking around aimlessly, I went looking for Grover. It wasn't hard to find him, since he was the only one with a cap on and crutches. I grabbed his shoulder, making him jump slightly. "Whoah, it's just me buddy. Now, I need you to grab Katie and get the fuck out of here." I told him emphasizing the part about getting out. He kind of recoiled at my language. "What's wro-" "Monster, get her out of here. I will stay back and keep them busy." I told him. He nodded then his eyes widened. "Them!?" He whispered with fear in his voice. I nodded. "Perce, you need to get out of here too." He said worriedly. I shook my head. "No, I can't leave them alone here with the mortals." I told him. He bit his lip and nodded, hobbling off to find Katie. I stepped towards the glass window, leaning on the railing. I heard the ever present yipping behind me and didn't bother to look. "Let the mortals leave Echidna, then we can duke it out alone." I told her. "Ho ho. So you are an intelligent son of the sea. That is unusual. Although I am glad that I do not have to go through the trouble of getting you alone. Maybe you have a death wish or something?" She asked curiously. The Chimera barked viciously. The guard up here called everyone back to the elevator. I watched Katie and Grover get on it. "We will come back up in just a minute for you visitors." The doorman said, getting onto the elevator and going down with the rest of the passengers, just leaving a small family up here with the monsters and I. "Mmm, looks like Sonny will have some extra snacks after the main course." Echidna said and the Chimera slowly began to grow. "Leave the mortals out of this Echidna." I told her sharply, turning around and drawing riptide.
"Who do you think you are boy, to give orders to the Fearsome Echidna! Mother of Monsters!" She screeched and began transforming herself. I heard whimpers from the corner of the arch, seeing the father huddled protectively over his wife and daughter. "I'm the one who is gonna kick your ass." I replied simply. She cackled evilly as their transformations ended, revealing their grotesque forms. As the description said, the Chimera had a goat head and a lion head. Instead of a tail it was the upper body of a Cobra. Echidna herself had the upper body of a hideous woman, but the lower body of a 15 foot long python. I pulled up my own Status screen.

The tiny part of my mind always craving for bloodshed was practically begging to be released, but I held it back, intent on fighting this my own way. I splashed myself with water and immediately activated Strong Arm, Thought Acceleration, and Super Speed.

I could feel the muscles in my arms swell to an almost painful level and I grunted at the strain it put on my body. Echidna just laughed at me, "Haha, what the Hades is a water bottle going to do for you?" She cackled. I just smirked as time began to slow for me as my brain went into overdrive. While I had three minutes for Thought Acceleration, I had never even used Strong Arm before which meant I really only had 2 minutes before my body gave out. I had to make the most of it while I could. "So you truly intend to fight us. Foolish demigod, this will be your grave! Sonny Kill hi-," was all she managed to say before I pushed off the ground, moving at such speeds I could feel the air around my heat up with friction. Before either of them could even blink I was in front of the Chimera, mid swing. With a sickening slice the goat head was cleaved from its neck.

There was a moment of silence before the lion head roared loudly and spewed fire at me. Simultaneously the snake head lunged for my leg. I was far too fast for it though and leapt backwards, avoiding the fire and snake. "Y-you hurt my sonny! I'll kill you!" She screamed in slow motion. It still amazed me how much I could perceive with my brain overclocking.
Anyways, back on task. The Chimera lunged at me faster than I expected. If I hadn't had Thought Acceleration on I would've had a nasty scar after this fight, but since I did I ducked under its paw, slicing open its stomach. Or, I would have if the hide on his stomach had not been so thick that my sword couldn't get more than half a foot in.

I rolled out from under it as it roared in pain once more. Honestly, this entire fight seemed too easy. My strength, speed, and reflexes were far above even this legendary monster. I sighed and decided not to drag it on too much longer. I kicked off the ground, denting the metal under my foot as I shot forwards at max speed. It seemed as though the Chimera was ready, It fired a huge blast of fire in my direction, I hissed as the fire covered me, a few pings going off in the background telling me my heat resistance had gone up drastically. A giant hole was left in the arch in the wake of the flames. I looked over at the family in the corner to make sure they were okay, which they were. It turned out to be a mistake as I felt a sharp pain in my leg and screamed out.

Gritting my teeth I grabbed the neck of the snake and ripped out of my leg, causing me to scream due to the excruciating pain.

"Not as easy as I thought," I hissed and chopped off the snake head, causing the rest of the tail to disintegrate. The Chimera roared in anger and pain, charging forth. I was slowed down due to the venom coursing through my legs. It tackled me and we fell out of the tower. I looked up, the world still moving slowly. Echidna stood on the edge with a sick grin on her face. It made anger flare up inside me. I roared and used a water bottle to create a large water blade. I thrust my hand forward, the giant sword racing towards the Chimera. The sound of a blade slicing through flesh reached my ears. I watched the Chimera turn into golden dust as I continued to fall. I looked up to see Echidna with a look of rage on her face. Remembering one weapon perfect for this moment I pulled out my mana pistol. I pumped 60 Mp into the pistol summoning imperial gold bullets. I pointed the pistol at her, and with my concentration starting to wane I pulled the trigger. I stayed conscious long enough to see the bullet rocket out of the barrel and land straight into one of her fat rolls, subsequently exploding inside her, literally blowing her up from the inside. Almost like a bad case of explosive diarrhea.
I woke up inside a murky river, trash floating all around me. "Milord." A voice sounded from behind me. I turned around to find the Nereid from my previous time here in the exact same spot as my first life. "Hello there." I replied. "I have a message from your father. I cannot stay here long so listen closely. Go to Santa Monica Pier, he has something for you there. Also, do not trust the gifts." She said. I nodded, and she disappeared into the water. I sighed, if you can really do that underwater and waited around for the poison to finally be healed. It took about five minutes but eventually the status effect vanished. Right before I was about to swim to the surface I got two notifications.

I was impressed. I could practically walk through most fires and be fine. Poison resistance would be good in the future as well. I swam up to the surface and climbed onto the bank of the river. I saw Katie and Grover staring into the water hopelessly, they both had tears coming from their eyes. I walked up behind them. "Whatcha waiting for?" I asked innocently. They turned around so fast I was afraid they would get whiplash. "Percy!" They shouted and hugged me. "What the hell is wrong with you!" Katie screamed into my ear. I recoiled, clutching my now ringing ear. "Katie what the hell? Don't scream in my ear." I whined. She just glared at me, immediately making me shut up. "How could you face those monsters alone? Do you have a death wish?" She asked angrily. I shook my head, "I couldn't fight them and protect you two at the same time. I didn't want you to get hurt when they were after me to begin with." I responded. She looked hurt and Grover looked sad. "Percy, you don't have to protect us.." She told me, I closed my eyes as flashes of the deaths of my friends in my previous life shot through my head. I wouldn't let that happen again, that is why I needed to be stronger. ".. we are on this quest together kelp head. We need to work together as well." She said putting a hand on my shoulder. Grover nodded in agreement. "Alright, I won't do that again." I lied, knowing I would never let her or Grover fight Ares with me. I felt bad lying to them but it was necessary.

They both smiled and I looked at the time. "Shit! We only have five minutes before the train departs! We gotta go!" I yelled and ran for the train, Katie and Grover following close behind. I honestly could not help but smile. It felt nice having so many people care about me. I had Katie, Grover, my mom, my patron, Hestia, Medusa(I think?), the unclaimed kids at camp. So many people precious to me. It just made my will power grow stronger. I would stop Kronos, even if I have to destroy myself to do so.

AN: Sorry for the bad fight scene. I kind of lost the will to write tonight since I am exhausted from work today. Hopefully I can push out a chapter tomorrow that will be better. Next chapter will probably be another look at Archelaus and Aphrodite. Just so you know everything happening with them is happening at the same time as Percy's quest.
