That weekend, Charlie had the day off and went over to the reservation to go fishing with one of his friends. After finishing my homework, I quickly checked the news on my laptop and saw the same news about the group of muggers in Port Angeles that Charlie had been worried about all week. But because he was Forks police, he couldn't do anything about it.

I saw it was getting dark, and Charlie wouldn't be coming back any time soon, so I figured it wouldn;t hurt to patrol the area for a bit.

I quickly transformed in the nearby woods and flew over to Port Angeles, looking for anything suspicious. As I passed over one of the alleys, I saw a dark figure lurking. I couldn't quite see their face, so as quietly as I could, I flew down, landing behind them.

Apparently I wasn't quiet enough because right as I landed, the figure tackled me to the ground. I was somehow able to flip us over to see who my assailant was.

I immediately relaxed when I saw who it was my partner.

"You!" I blinked at him.

"You," he laughed.

I narrowed my eyes at him, getting up. "What are you doing here?"

"Calm down, Beauty," he shot me a crooked smile, his eyes sparkling.

"Excuse me? What did you call me?"

"Beauty. You know, like Pale Beauty," he explained slowly like you would to a child. "Kinda fitting don't you think?"

"Not really, no."

"Well I think it's perfect," he bumped his foot with mine.

Was he flirting with me or something? Or maybe he's just extremely cheeky and arrogant.

Ugh, this is not something I want to be thinking about when I'm in "superhero mode." I could never forgive myself if someone got hurt because I had been distracted.

"So what do I call you then? Knight?" I asked, trying to take the attention off myself.

"Sure, if that makes you happy," he winked. Winked!

I rolled my eyes, trying to decide if he was now being annoying or endearing. I think I'm leaning towards the former.

"So what are you doing here?" I asked him again.

"I could ask you the same thing. But to answer your question, I'm just patrolling the area."

I nodded. "I'm doing the same. So what if we split-"

I was cut off mid sentence by a scream. We both turned and looked in the direction it came from, giving each other a nod before heading off.

A couple blocks away, we saw a young woman surrounded by three men matching the description of the muggersShe looked terrified, clutching her bag to her chest, as they moved closer and close to her.

I felt my blood boil looking at the scene in front of me. How could humans decide to be that evil. I flew down, placing myself in between the woman and the muggers just as one of them reached for her, knife in hand. I grabbed the guy's wrist, stopping the knife an inch away from me.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I smirked at them.

"Why? You gonna stop us?" One of the other guys asked. "Didn't anyone tell you it's not Halloween?" They laughed.

"Didn't anyone tell you not to underestimate superheros?" Knight came up behind them.

All three of the guys whipped around, not having expected him to be there. As soon as their attention was off of me, I bent down, sweeping my foot across the ground, knocking them all off of their feet.

It was all very anticlimactic, really. As soon as I knocked them down, Knight pressed some pressure point or something on them so they passed out, and I found some old rope near the dumpsters to restrain them in case they woke up.

I finally turned to the woman who was still shaking by the wall.

"Are you okay?" I asked her, Knight coming up next to me.

She nodded, although she kept her eyes and attention on Knight.

"Are you hurt?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Oh, thank you!" She sobbed, launching herself at Knight, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Just doing our job," he told her, patting her back.

The woman pulled back, not letting go of him.

"I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't shown up," she looked up at him, batting her lashes and running her hand down his chest.

"You have got to be kidding me," I grumbled, although she didn't hear me as she continued to run her hands down Knight's arms.

I rolled my eyes, grabbing two of the guys, and started to drag them off.

"Stay safe," Knight told her before jogging over to join me, grabbing the third man.

I heard the woman huff before storming out of the alley.

"She certainly seems better," I commented. "You wouldn't even know she just went through a traumatic event."

"Are you jealous," Knight asked, amusement clear in his voice.

"E-excuse me? No, I just think it's unprofessional to flirt when there are literal criminals passed out two feet away from us," I snapped at him.

"She wasn't flirting, she was just showing her gratitude," he defended.

"Please!" I let go of the guys for a second, stepping right up to Knight so we were practically chest to chest. His 6'2-ish frame towered over my 5'4 one. I looked up at him through my lashes, batting them the way the woman had done.

"I-I don't know what I would have done without you," I used my best damsel in distress voice, and ran my hand down his chest which was harder than I thought it would be.

Knight's eyes glazed over as he stared at me, his mouth slightly open.

"Might want to close that before you start drooling," I brought my hand up to close his jaw. I winked at him before turning back to grab the two guys again.

It took Knight a couple more seconds to snap out of whatever was going through his mind, and join me again.

"Oh well, I didn't notice," he shrugged.

"Besides," he continued. "You know I've only got eyes for you, babe."

Aaaaannnnd there he was, back to his cheeky self.

I rolled my eyes, picking up the two guys, dragging them off again.

"Police stations three blocks away. Meet you there," I told him, flying off.

When I got there, Knight was waiting outside with a couple other officers who already had put handcuffs on the third guy.

"Oh, here she is now," he spotted me as I flew down, landing in front of them.

"Here," I held out the two guys.

The officers seemed surprised at my strength as they placed handcuffs on the guys, having a couple deputies take them inside the station.

"Thank you, Dark Knight, Pale Beauty," the officer in charge used the name in the headlines. "We've been after these guys for weeks.

"It was our pleasure," Knight told them.

They thanked us again, heading into the station to start processing the criminals.

"I'd say we make a pretty good team," Knight gave me his crooked smile, bumping my shoulder.

Now that the criminals were put away I felt I could relax a bit. So instead of trying to dismiss him as I usually did, I smiled back at him.

"Yeah, we do," I bumped him back.

I looked around and saw it was getting late. The sun had already gone down and Charlie was either already home or was about to be home soon.

"I should go. But, um, see you around?" I looked over at Knight.

He nodded, and I swiftly flew away, making it back to the woods near my house in only a few minutes. Changing back, I saw that Charlie's cruiser was already in the driveway.

"How was fishing?" I asked him as I came in.

"It was good, good," he answered, seeming distracted.

"What's wrong?" I sat down at the table across from him.

"I heard you caught the muggers."

"Oh, yeah. It was kind of unexpected, I went to go patrol the area and I ran into Knight-"

"Knight?" Charlie asked.

"Uh, short for Dark Knight. You know, from the headline? Anyway I ran into him and then we heard the muggers so we stopped them," I explained.

Charlie nodded. "I expected as much."

I looked at him, confused. "Is that what you wanted to talk to me about?"

"No," Charlie turned serious. "I got wind that a couple of villains heard about a pair of superheroes in Forks. And you know how rare it is for superheroes to work together, any kind of news like that and it gets around. We think they might be coming after you two. Obviously they don't know who you are, but you should be extra careful."

I took a second to process what he was saying. I've never had to fight any other superheroes so I didn't know what would happen if it came down to it.

"I will, dad," I assured him.
