"Alright people let's get to work" hotch said
JJ stood at the door for a moment panting, Luke had got in his car which was parked at the station and headed off to the tavern so get a room.
"JJ you coming?" Emily said
"Yeah on my way"
They walked into the conference room where Garcia was already set up over Skype.
"Alright Morgan and prentiss you talk to the family's, JJ and Reid go to the dump sight, me and Rossi will stay here and try to find out why the unsub chose these children" hotch explained "Garcia I need you to find out what these 3 kids have in common friends, hangout spots everything, and no one forget about the phone call saying something was going on here, it's probably nothing but keep it in mind.
They all went their separate ways

Derek and Emily knocked on the first family's door, a middle aged women opened the door looking confused to see them there.
"Can I help you?" She asked
"We're with a fbi I'm agent prentiss this is agent Morgan we're here to ask you some questions about your daughter, Danny Clark,if that's okay"
The women thought for a moment before opening the door wider and letting the two agents in and led them to the couch to sit down and went to get her husband from upstairs, and everyone was seated on the couch
"We're so sorry for your loss" Morgan started "can you tell us a little about your daughter, friends, hobbies, crushes"
The parents seemed to tense slightly at the mention of crushes but they continued anyway.
"Danny was a good kid, she played baseball, kept her grades up, never had any trouble making friends" mr Clark said
"What about hobbies what did Danny like to do" prentiss asked
"She um- she liked playing outside, always seemed to come back with random bruises"

JJ was driving with Spencer to the dump site, Spencer seemed to be holding himself back from saying something, he sat there fidgeting with his hands.
"You ok Spence?" JJ asked keeping her eyes forward
"I should really be asking you" he said plainly
"What do you mean?"
"Jennifer, you were late which you never are and came back hurt, and somethings clearly bothering you"
JJ had nothing to say to that, but remained quiet till they pulled into a small parking lot beside a large chunk of woods, on the opposite side of town from where she went with Luke the night before.
They approached where the body's were found, there was still crime scene tape around the it with a few officers waiting on them, JJ let Spencer walk in the front, which was probably a good idea because the officers kept shooting JJ dirty looks.
They were examined where the body's were found, nothing was weird, but there was no way that the murders happened there.

"Ok so let's talk about the sexual assault on these victims, was the same person that abused them the person that murdered them" Morgan started
"Also none of the kids were reported missing before the body's were found, that paired with the lack of defensive wounds means the children most likely trusted whoever took them" Spencer added
"When we talked to the parents they all had the same story, with kids having good grades, loved playing outside, except none of the parents seemed particularly- um" Emily searched for the right word "upset, angry, they all seemed almost satisfied, what's the likelihood that the parents did this"
Just then Garcia popped up on the screen "guys I might have something, while none of the kids were reported absent from school recently, it doesn't seem like they were there, there's nothing to show they were there."
"What do mean?" JJ asked
"Ok well there's nothing in pictures, there's no text messages about school, and there's no record of their grades anywhere in school records"
"Thanks Garcia" hotch said
"No problem pg out"
"Alight JJ and prentiss go talk to those teachers"

"JJ do you know any of those teachers?" Emily asked as they we're driving to the school.
"Actually all of them, the same workers have been working there for many years" JJ said
"What was school like as a kid for you?" Emily was trying to figure out why everyone seemed to have something against JJ, they all were, but they knew it would take some prying.
"Oh you know, I was on the soccer team from kindergarten" JJ said "that's what I spent a lot of my time doing"
They pulled into the school, it was a Saturday but there were a few sports teams practicing and most of the teachers were there.
As they walked into the building JJ took in everything, she promised herself she would never come back and here she was.
There was a secretary at the front desk who glared at JJ over her glasses.
"Miss jareau" the lady said with a hint of venom her voice
"We're going to need to talk to each teacher that taught 7th or 9th grade classes or coached that age" JJ said sharply "we will use the guidance counselors office" she paused "Key please"
The woman looked taken back, but dropped the key into JJs wrapped hand and stood to go get the teachers.
"God I've always hated that woman" JJ said once th woman had left
"Any specific reason?" Emily asked as they walked
"To many" JJ unlocked the door to the guidance counselors office it was small with a desk and two chairs, JJ remembers the everything that happened in this room, and didn't like it but she couldn't avoid everything that brought back bad memories, that would be impossible.

"Excuse me miss jareau, come with me, bring your things" Mr Lewis the guidance counselor said popping his head into JJs 5th grade Math class "Mr hart you too" he said to Luke
JJ and Luke looked at each other confused they hadn't done anything wrong— well nothing the school would know about. Nonetheless they got up and followed mr Lewis to his office
In the office waiting on them was, JJs parents, Luke's parents, the principle, 4 deacons from the church, and Bro. Jesse, their pastor

"Now Dr. brown is it? Why didn't you mark Danny Clark, or Abby drew absent from school" Emily asked
"I don't know what your talking about" he said
"Really, because there's no record of anything to do with these kids for the past 3 years, and you know better then I do this school does not lose record" JJ said
"Jennifer"
"Agent Jareau" Emily corrected him
"Jennifer, I'm afraid I can't be of any help in this situation" and he got up and left
They didn't bother going after him they weren't going to get anywhere with him.
After interviewing a few more teachers with the same results a man who looked to be in his early 50s came in, the second he saw JJ his eyes lit up.
"JJ! You've grown up so much, last time I saw you you were only 16!" He opened his arms to hug her
"Coach Taylor! JJ jumped up and hugged the man
They released each other and JJ felt her eyes fill with tears which she quickly blinked away.
Emily was confused everyone who they had spoken to had seemed to have hated JJ, but this man was incredibly happy to see her and seemed almost relieved
"Emily this is coach Taylor, my soccer coach for many years of my life"
Emily nodded and understood, JJ loved nothing more then soccer, and this man taught her all that, what didn't make sense was everyone else's behavior.
"Well coach Taylor can you tell me about Abby drew, Danny clark, and Jonah lee, specifically why they were never marked absent" Emily used a softer tone on the man, based on JJs reaction to him she doubted he was hiding anything.
"Well agent I won't lie to you, I have no idea where the kids went, but we were all under strict orders from who knows who to never mark any of the kids absent"
"And why is that?" Emily asked
"No one knows, we're just trying to keep our jobs"
"Alright thank you for your help,we'll be in touch if we need anything else" Emily said standing, coach Taylor was the last person they were talking to.
He stood as well shaking each of their hands, then reached into his pocket pulling out 3 Business cards, handing one to Emily and two to JJ.
"One for that Luke kid" he said with a wink
JJ smiled and tucked the cards into her pocket. "Talk to you later sir"
And he left with no other words

Emily and JJ arrived back at the station after calling hotch with the information, they walked in and JJ stopped dead in her tracks causing Emily to stop as well.
There, right in the bullpen we're JJs parents.
There seemed to be a stare down happening between JJ and her mother.
Although they had made no noise, the silence was enough to draw the attention of not only the whole team but the whole station.
JJs mother stood slowly and took a few steps towards her yet her father remained seated. JJ flinched slightly as her mother stepped forward.
"Jennifer, long time no see" her mother known as sandy said venom practically from her mouth.
JJ didn't respond only lowered her gaze to the ground.
The tension in the room was unmatched, it was like everything had stopped moving
Her dad came and stood by her mother only a few steps away from JJ. "Would you like you tell us we're you've been for the past, how long has it been, ELEVEN YEARS!" He shouted the last words causing JJ to visibly finch, and take a full step back eyes full of fear.
Unfortunately that fear wasn't irrational, the next thing that happened JJs father punch JJ right in the eye. JJ didn't fight back she just stood there, as her father grabbed her by her collar slamming her against the nearest was that just to happened he be brick
"Did you hear me!" She shouted hitting her again, she didn't make a noise she just took it, she didn't respond, there was no grunt of pain, she just looked at him eyes watering from the punch.
You would think assaulting a federal agent wouldn't be so easy in a freaking police station! But none of the officer nor JJs mom did anything. The same couldn't be said about JJs team.
Rossi and Emily were trying to hold Morgan back, they wanted to arrest the guy not kill him— let me rephrase that they were supposed to arrest him not kill him. They realized there was no stopping Morgan and let him go.
He along with hotch ran over to them where he was now choking JJ, Morgan pried the man off JJ and threw him to the floor taking out his cuffs, JJ collapsed down the wall gasping for breath. Hotch in the meantime cuffed JJs mother for JJs own safety plus that she just allowed her husband to Beat their daughter.
Emily ran over to JJ dropped beside her "Spencer call a ambulance" she yelled at Spencer behind her
"No— I'm fine" JJ gasped between coughs "I'm not— going to the hospital" or took a minute but she calmed herself for just a moment to talk "Just let them go— I don't care, I'm not pressing charges"
Reluctantly Morgan and hotch released JJ parents but walked them outside making sure they wouldn't come back.
JJ stood and nearly fell over, she could feel her chest tightening and the dizziness definitely didn't help either, it was getting harder to breathe and everyone's voice sounded more like a echo, she limped her way into a bathroom stall and locked it and slid down the wall
Emily watched as JJ half ran half limped to the woman's restroom, she looked at hotch who nodded and ran after JJ, when she got in the restroom she could faintly hear yelling outside and could only imagine what all the officers were hearing, but she knew it wouldn't be pretty.
She looked down the row of stalls and while she normally appreciated stall doors that went all the way yo the floor with no gaps right now she wished it was like a normal bathroom it would be much easier to find JJ if she could see under the stall
She found a locked stall and knocked "JJ, honey are you in there"
No response except rapid breathing "JJ please let me in" still no response
"Jennifer if you don't open this door right now I'm picking the lock" she waited for a moment and with still no reaction she pulled a Bobby pin out of her pocket and quickly picked the lock.
The door swung open, and the sight before her broke Emily's heart, JJ was leaning against the wall chest rising and falling quickly her eyes were glazed over and she tightly gripped her necklace.
Emily sat down on her knees next to JJ, she reached out to touch her arm she quickly regretted it when JJ flinched hard, she moved her hand away and tried to get JJ to at least breathe a little slower.
"JJ can you hear me, it's Emily, just me, your safe your in the station bathroom" she tried but JJ made no indication that she had even heard her

JJ ran into her bathroom her dad running angered behind her she closed her door and locked it standing in the farthest corner, her bruises ached, she could feel her chest bleeding and a knot forming on her head.
There was a sudden banging on the door "JENNIFER I WILL BREAK THIS DOOR DOWN"
JJ shrieked and pushed herself further against the wall
The door burst open to reveal her father eyes full of pure anger, he grabbed her and threw her against the wall, she kicked and screamed but he didn't stop he punched and kicked and slapped and yanked, anything you can imagine her did to her.
The next thing she remembered was waking up in roslyns bed with a wet cloth on her forehead she blinked and looked up at Roslyn who had a black eye
"Is he gone" JJ asked voice cracking
Roslyn sighed and stroked her 7 year old sisters hair "for now"
JJ closed her eyes wanting to fall back asleep but she heard a voice from nowhere "come on JJ, your here at the station your safe in right here"
No that didn't make sense she was here with Roslyn, then she remembered.

"Hey there you are" Emily said sweetly reaching out to stroke JJs face this time she didn't finch "you gonna need some ice for that eye and probably your head to"
JJs breathing had returned to almost normal but she still seemed kinda out of it, but Emily helped her up and guided her out to one of the SUVs no one even acknowledged them as they left and Emily knew hotch probably scared they living hell out of all them
the rest of the team had already loaded into the SUVs and we're waiting to leave as they pulled out of the parking lot JJ closed her eyes and her mind finally caught up with her body and she registered what had just happened.
She was a federal agent she shouldn't just stand there and let herself get beat, and the question—oh god the questions, she couldn't imagine the amount of questions she would get, right now she just wanted to sleep.
As they pulled into the taverns parking lot she looked over at JJ who looked to be sleeping, she reached over and gently shook her happy she hadn't flinched again "come on we're here we'll get you some ice and you can sleep"
JJ opened her eyes and climbed out and slowly walked in with Emily's help she had at some point in the whole ordeal twisted her ankle.
They got in and Emily helped JJ sit down on a couch in the front room and immediately everyone started fussing over her making sure she didn't need to go to the hospital (she did but she wouldn't tell anyone that) Spencer came with not one not two, but four ice packs.
Luke hearing all the commotion came out of his room, we saw JJ and gasped "JJ what happened!" He said shocked and she to sit by her
"More like who happened" JJ said humorlessly
"What! Who did this"
"Take a guess"
"Oh my god— I'm going to fucking kill him!" He jumped up but JJ grabbed him with her unwrapped hand
"Leave it" she then realized the rest of the team was still in the room and probably very confused "guys this is Luke, Luke this is my team"
"There was a synchronized "ahh" as all the people in the room found out who the others were
"Um I brought ice packs" Spencer said
"Thanks Spence" JJ said taking them from him and placing one of the back of her head one on her eye one on her ankle, and one on her stomach where she had unfortunately.
"I think it's time to rewrap your hand" Luke said and got up to get gauze out the first aid kit
"Speaking of what happened to your hand?" Hotch asked
"I got a piece of tree bark stuck in my hand"
"You we're in the woods?" Morgan questioned
"Maybe"
"What were you doing in the woods?" Rossi said
"Don't worry nothing illegal besides— ow!" JJ yanked her hand away from Luke Rossi had taken over holding the ice pack ok the back of JJs head so she could get her hand rewrapped
"Sorry, I apparently missed a piece of bark and had to take it out" Luke apologized
JJ gave her hand back and once it was wrapped and she went back to holding both ice packs.
Everyone sat on the couches with JJ leaning on Luke, Emily felt a pang of jealousy.
But JJ and Luke weren't together.
JJ would tell her, right.
Right.
