"She was only six" JJ whispered so quietly Emily had to strain to hear her. JJ had been zoned out for nearly 20 minutes with Emily unable to get through to her, the only indication that she was even alive was her quick and short breaths, other than that her eyes were empty and body still.

Emily has been gently trying to coax her out of wherever her mind had trapped her, but JJ wouldn't budge, this was the first thing she had said since she had collapsed into Emily's arms, and Emily had no idea what it meant.

"Who honey?" Emily asked hoping JJ was lucid enough to answer, she could tell from JJs eyes she was slipping back into that dark place and hurried to stop her "Hey stay with me, I'm here, your safe" she said lightly stroking JJs back.

"I'm sorry" JJs voice broke as she spoke, she sat up in Emily's lap wiping at already dry tears she slowly pulled herself away and scooted between her bed and the nightstand. She still seemed a little out of it but more lucid than before.

Emily wasn't sure what to do or ask at this point, she hadn't got any information out of JJ but talking about it might send JJ back into a panic attack. She watched as She pulled away and situated herself on the floor.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, I'm just worried" the older agent reassured turning to face the other, she decided it was best to give JJ a bit of space

"I'm sorry, I'm just not ready to talk about everything" JJ shook her head trying and failing to steady her voice. Emily sighed sympathetically and nodded.

"Ok but I can't let this go, how would you feel about talking about it when the case is over" she offered and JJ gave a hesitant nod. That was enough for Emily so she stood up offering a hand to JJ who took it, and as soon as they were both standing Emily pulled JJ in for another hug. JJ happily accepted the hug wrapped her arms around Emily holding back tears.

They separated and Emily held her at arm's length, "you know you can tell me anyone right"

All she got in response was a nod as JJ looked away unable to meet Emily's eyes.

JJ sat down on the edge of her bed for a moment before silently getting up and grabbing clothes out of her bag.

"Um, where are you going?" Emily asked confused

"I just gonna go a few places around town I won't be gone long"

"Fine but I'm coming with you"

"Emily…"

"Nope I'm coming or you're not going"

"I am a grown adult you can't control me"

"I'm not controlling you I'm looking out for your safety"

"Fine! Whatever" JJ stormed into the bathroom to change leaving Emily hoping she didn't go too far. Emily also changed while JJ was in the bathroom. After they were both dressed JJ came out of the bathroom still looking mad, but her bruises from the day before stood out and JJ made to attempt to hide them.

"Alright, ground rules" JJ started "I lived here much longer than you have been here so if I make you a weird way somewhere I know what I'm doing. People don't like me here, I'm just going to do a few things so ignore the rude glares and remarks, and for the love of all that is good in the world. Do not. Touch. ANYTHING colored red. You'll know what I mean later." She finally looked back at Emily. "Got it?"

"Got it" Emily agreed confused by JJs sudden change in behavior, less than 15 minutes ago she was completely zoned out and now she was telling Emily not to touch anything red. "Why can't I touch anything red?"

"It's a long story but just trust me, it's one of the worst things you can do," JJ Said pulling in her backpack "let's go, I'm planning on just walking"

"Yeah let's go"

They made their way out of their room and outside, the town seemed normal considering 3 kids were just found dead, there were kids running around in their front yards or riding bikes down the street.

"Remember what I said about trusting me, nows's the time to do that" JJ said and turned and walked around to the back of the tavern Emily following. They walked along the same fence JJ would jump over to get to the hut but passed the Burt our streetlight.

They reached a small dirt path leading into some trees that weren't fenced and started down it after just a few minutes the trees cleared and there sat a graveyard and Emily realized what JJ meant by things colored red.

All over the graveyard, there were mixed in with everything else red benches and water fountains completely red the same color as a fire truck. The yard was empty other than her and JJ but she still felt the need to keep an eye out for anything around her.

JJ didn't say anything just kept walking but then stopped abruptly. "Can you wait here?" She asked Emily.

"Yeah whatever you need," Emily said, she had a feeling she knew why JJ came here.

"Thank you" and JJ walked away she walked deeper into her yard careful not to step on top of any graves till she reached the one she really came to see, the red headstone of her sister's grave.

As she looked at the bright red headstone that Emily was too far away to see, she let a few tears roll fall down her face but quickly wiped them away. "Oh, Rob" she knelt next to the stone that had Likely never been visited.

"Why did this happen, I thought I was done here but here I am I guess. Then I come to see you and you have this stupid red thing, bastards. I promise I will fix this, I will not let them do this to you." She Said like she was talking to her in person "I know what I need to but I have to idea how to do it."

She spent close to an hour just pouring her soul out to Roslyn's headstone and as she got up to leave said "you always protected me, it's my turn to protect"
