Well, I have nothing to say. I hope you enjoy the chapter!
One of the things I like to do when not going anything is making a fire and stare at it. It's oddly comforting and relaxing watching the fire crackle and burn the wood. I guess it might be because fire is by nature, beautiful.
A bit of time passes, and I check on Taget, who is still out cold. I guess she didn't like the knowledge that we are stuck in this world.
While watching the fire, hearing it crackle and make other fire noises, I hear Taget begin to flap her wings, apparently waking up.
"Ugh. What happened? I didn't even know fairies could pass out like that."
"I was explaining to you where we were, and why we can't leave before passed out." Taget jumps into the air, floating around in shock and a bit of worry.
"Link, can you feel the magic of this world?" Taget seems upset about this world's magic, for some reason. Though fairies are more sensitive to natural magic, as they are magical beings obviously, something is setting her off is odd.
"I am not a fairy, Taget." I say, noticing her pink light brighten slightly.
"Oh, right. Anyway, the magic of this world isn't right for you, and especially for me. The more I absorb, the more I become more, fitting for this world. What that will entail, I am unsure. But whatever it is, will not end well regardless of how you view it."
"Look Taget, there isn't much we can do now, since we are stuck here so we might as well make the best of it. Quite frankly, I like it here. No one looking at me for being the 'chosen hero of the land' or some other type of thing. I am just Link here, even if some know of my story, they look at me as Link, not the fixer of everything wrong with this world. That's something I hated about other worlds, as I just want to be Link, that's it."
"Link, you know why that was."
"I do Taget, and I never liked it. I didn't want the position, but due to arbitrary chances, I was born to be the Hero of a land called Hyrule. If given the chance, I would have left Hyrule behind had I known the things to come. Especially the Shadow Temple. Fuck that place in particular."
Taget just dims her light in a show of sadness. "Link. I..."
I grab Taget gently, cupping her in my hand, staring at her. "Taget, it's not anything you did, or you can fix. I'm just live with it, and move forward in life with this knowledge. You still are a friend, even if you were only with me for a few days, technically. Maybe my only friend right now in this world currently. Except maybe Crim and Meidri. Otherwise, it's just us now."
Taget seems to dim even more, as she sinks into my hand, letting me see her tiny, humanoid figure, albeit barely. Even then, it's easy to tell she is upset. "Link... Are, are you okay?"
I look at Taget confused. "I am fine Taget, why do you ask?" Why is she asking that?
Taget sighs, as if she is unsure of what to say. "Well, it seems like you have a harder time absorbing magic more than others, but I can't figure out why."
"Maybe because I am special?" I chuckle out, Taget just huffing at my attempt at a joke. I quickly serious up though, and look at Taget. "Taget, it doesn't matter at this point. We are here now, and we might as well enjoy the sights, and have some fun, in between jobs, missions, and challenges. We both don't have to worry about some ridiculous prophecy, a potentially world-ending threat only we can stop, some power-hungry wizard getting too big for his britches, none of that. We get to be normal here, well a loose idea of normal, you get my point. No more 'Look, mommy, the Hero of Time!', 'Hero chosen by the Gods', or 'Warrior of Destiny' crap. We can finally just live our lives without the stupid charade of being okay with it!"
As I talk, Taget seems to dim slightly. "Is... Is that how you have truly thought about everything, Link?" Taget sadly asks, her wings drooping.
"Yes, Taget. It is." I quietly say, looking at the fire, unable to look at Taget.
Taget just floats down into my lap, trying to get comfortable.
The next morning, I gather up what I need, and Taget begins floating next to me, ready to see more of the world. Covering my dead firepit with dirt and rocks to make sure it can't spread somehow, I begin my trek to the volcano that holds the Magmastones for pick up.
Walking up the mountainside is tough, but good exercise, if you ignore the lava bug things.
Speaking of the bugs, one group of them decided to become a titan of sorts, from fusing with each other to as a form of defense.
Though, a single ice arrow defeats them and sends them running. Pity, I hoped it would have been more challenging, but I guess you can't face off against a rookie killer on each quest you go on.
I eventually arrive at a hole in a dormant, yet still warm as Din volcano. I look around the area, unsure of where this Fire Dragons Fem-Flesh BBQ is at. Honestly, the area reminds me of Goron City, where everywhere you looked, it was basically the same in terms of design and layout, though in this case, it's a volcano with walls of blackened stone, and people roaming about.
I notice a sign, that from what I can tell, might be the location next to the magmastones, based on its design and letterings.
Entering the magma stone store, I see a tanned woman, with paths of scales on her skin, her scales being a nice blue, like lakes, a tail, and wings like that of a dragon. Other than that, she could pass as a Hylian or Human.
Walking up to the counter, I knock on the stone slightly, catching the woman by surprise, and I notice that it seemed like she was working on some paperwork.
"Ah! Oh hello, sorry about that. I was focused on some paperwork." she then clears her throat, "My name Hydra, how can I help you?"
"Yes, my name is Link, and I came to pick up an order of magmastones for Ale N Ates, as I took the request as an adventurer."
"Oh good, I was waiting for someone to come about it. Give me a sec." She steps away, to bend down and pick up a box, holding said stones. "Here you go, cutie. By any chance, are you seeing anyone?"
"I can see you in front of me, ma'am, why?"
Hydra giggles at my answer. "You are adorably innocent. If you ever want to have some fun, just come to me, and we will have some fun~."
I just grab the box, and leave, for some reason feeling awkward.
On my way back, I notice a camp of sorts nearby in the plains, so I go over to check it out.
"Have you seen Garmen? He and his group went to ambush the Outer Worlder, but we haven't seen or heard from him since."
"Maybe he was killed by Kenny. He was not completely right in the head after all."
"I don't know man, something feels off about this whole situation. I mean, the boss for some reason wants this particular Outer Worlder dead, yet when asked why he was killed with a simple slap of a hand."
"Oh, you mean Jermah? Wasn't he already to be removed for trying to kill the boss's second in command?"
"Yeah, that idiot. I mean, I get the boss likes his old castle look, but come on, kill Jermah in a more fitting way, like using his tail as a coat or something, not just slap him, and turn him into dust. No use there."
I decide I heard enough, tie a few bombs to my arrows, and fire a few of them, destroying most of the camp, and I see a single survivor from my attack, who looks severely injured. I quickly run up to him and hold him down, to make sure he can't do anything, before pointing a sword at his neck.
"I have a few questions for you, that I would like answered. Who is your boss, and why does he want me dead?"
I watch as he struggles before he feels the tip of my sword on his neck. "I-I don't know man! I was just told by one of his commanders!" I can see the panic in his eyes, and a slight trickle of blood flowing down from his neck.
"How many commanders are there, and who was the one who told you?"
"I only know that there are four of them, but I only have interacted with one of them, Commander Serein! Please, don't kill-"
I cut his head off, knowing that he's done worse than what I can easily say. I get up, wipe my sword to remove the blood off of it, and set the area on fire, to remove the dead bodies.
"Link...That was ruthless of you. What had happened to you since we last spoke?" Taget asks, floating next to my head.
"A lot Taget, a lot. I will tell you about it later." I tell her, watching the fire slowly die down, as the fuel it had run out.
I slowly leave the area, passing the spot where I was ambushed originally, and eventually return to the city.
"Ah, Link! You brought the Magmastones! I didn't think anyone would do the quest so soon." Meidori says.
"It's no problem Meidori. I am always happy to help." Meidori giggles at me, before handing me a note.
"Give this to Carlina. She will reward you for the quest, but make sure to stop by Link."
"Uh, sure." I leave the tavern, feeling awkward for some reason, and my silver ring seems to heat up slightly, for some reason.
"Ah, welcome back Link!" I give Carlina the note, which she takes and reads. "Ah, you completed it. Here's your reward. Come back tomorrow if you decide to do another quest." She yawns, clearly tired. "The guild was about to close for the day. See you tomorrow." She yawns out, leaving the guild for the day.
Well, I guess I will just look around for now. I leave the guild building, and as I start to walk away from it, I bump into someone, who I knock over by accident. "Oh, sorry! I didn't see you there." I offer my hand to help her up, and she takes it, only to suddenly toss me into a wall.
"So you are the man the boss wants dead. Heh, looks like I don't have to go looking for you now." She says, grinning maliciously at me.
I know, cliffhanger after the wait for this chapter. Believe me, I hate cliffhangers as much as you guys do, but it is necessary, as I don't want to make a chapter very long, and for me to get burnt out and not touch it for a while.
No spoilers for anything coming up, but it should at least be interesting.
Though, over 100 Followers for this story, that honestly surprises me. I would have figured with this being a very niche anime and crossover story, at most, I would have gotten maybe 10 at most. But I thank all of you the same, regardless of the fact.
I have admittingly thought of making this a one-sided harem, where Link only wants one girl, but events say and make it otherwise.
Finally, I do have plans for the Arc, but I will reveal the arcs name (and the enemies group name) next chapter.
If you have questions (that's won't involve spoilers) or just want to say if I seemed to made something weird, just let me know.
Have a great day, and a great June!
