I swear, everytime I write Meidris name, I feel like I am suffering the Mandela effect, as I always spell her name as Meidori. Maybe its because it flows better, when I am spell checking by reading it out loud, I don't know.
That or her names spelling was changed at some point. I don't know. Maybe I am just going insane.
Cancel that, it was because her Romanji is Meidori. I guess I was technically correct, but Meidri is her actual name. Damn.
Sorry for rambling, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
"So you're the one the Boss wants dead." The woman smiles maliciously at me, her teeth seeming to form akin to daggers, or a shark's mouth. "A shame too, you are quite cute, but the Boss wants you dead and who am I to ignore that?" She then pulls out a sword and runs at me.
I quickly push myself out of the wall I was thrown into, and raise my shield quickly to block her sword swing, forcing her sword to be slammed into the wall she tossed me into. I then kick her away from me, as she pulls her sword out of the wall, and stumbles away from me, due to the blow to her stomach. I fully get up from my crouched position and pull out the Master Sword.
"Link, what's going on!?" Taget asks, flying out of my hat in confusion.
"I am being attacked Taget." I tell her, watching my opponent closely, waiting to see what she will do next. Taget flies back into my hat, feeling she would just get in the way.
"I must admit, you got me by surprise. Very few have done that, and even less have lived to tell the tale. But you have no hope against me, Link." She says, before ripping her own left arm off as she is using her right arm for her sword and throws it right at me. I jump to the side, avoiding the arm. Instead of the arm landing in the ground like I thought it would let alone her shoulder not producing any blood as any normal living being would she just grins and I get smacked in the back of my head and watch as her arm flies back to her, like a boomerang. She quickly attaches her arm to her shoulder, the flesh molding to reaccept it.
"What the Din was that?" I mutter to myself.
"It... It's Geringa! The Zombie Captain of the Karama Overturns!"
"Karama Overturns? That's the group wanting me dead?" I ask myself, conflicted about that.
Geringa just sighs. "I hate civvies. None of them know how to keep their mouths shut. Lucky for you Link, you get to die by my hand though, maybe the boss will reward me for bringing him your head." She says, licking her lips while she seems to shudder a bit from her thoughts.
I quickly run up to her, and as I go to slash at her, in an attempt to cut her from her shoulder to hip, she blocks my slash with her sword, locking it in place. "Now now, be patient prey. You will die soon, I want to have a little fun with you first. Hell, it's not like you can kill me anyway." She says casually as if talking about the weather before she begins to push against me, trying to push me back away from her.
For a few minutes, our blades clash in this sword lock, before I decide to hop backward, and take advantage of her losing her balance, and cut her head off cleanly. I watch as she falls forward, and her head falling off backward, before I put my sword up, and begin walking away.
About five steps are taken when my sense tells me to move, and I do, but then I feel a strong spike of pain come from my left shoulder and I see a sword that just struck where it would have been able to go through my skull instead of just hit the top part of my shoulder.
"Fool, you can't kill a Zombie that easily." She says, as her head fuses back onto the stump where her head once rested. I test my shoulder, and just my luck, she hit my shield arm. But, I have an idea on how to beat her. I quickly put away the Master Sword, and I pull out the Gilded Blade, as I am willing to bet her powers won't help her against it.
I rush up to her, and we begin a sword clash, our swords causing sparks to fly from the amount of pressure and how sharp both are, as our strengths are enough to stalemate the two of us. Realizing that I can't keep this up forever, while she seems as cool as a cucumber in a barrel of cold water, I decide to kick her in the knee and watch as she backflips away from it, talking all the while.
"You think I haven't fought warriors with weapons marked with Death, Link? I have been around for over 8,000 years, I was old while your grandparents were probably still in the womb. I can't stay much longer though, so might as well leave you with a parting gift." At that, she rushes at me, faster than I can follow, and uses her sword to leave a small, shallow cut on my cheek. "You're cute when you bleed. But you're probably better bleeding your white blood. Toodles Linky~" She suddenly jumps up into the air and starts hopping away, going from roof to roof.
I watch as she leaves out of my sight. What the fuck just happened? I decided that since she left, I might as well head to Ale N Eats, and see if Stunk, Zel, or Meidori know anything about this Karama Overturns.
Before I head into the tavern, the first thing I do is drink a bottle of Great Fairy Tears to heal my injury. I then enter, to see it's crowded with all sorts of beings, ranging from humans to elves, to massive wolfmen, slime creatures, Crim, and Meidori.
As soon as I enter, Crim notices me and floats as fast as he can towards me, with Meidri close behind. "Link! Are you okay!" Meidri exclaims, looking me over, looking for something, and inspecting the gash in my tunics shoulder, and the slight cut that's on my cheek still, for some reason. Clearly, she doesn't like the gash, as she gains a slightly concerned look, and some other look I really don't know of, but almost angry, I think.
"I am fine, Meidori. But, do you know anything about the group Karama Overturns?" At the name of the group, Meidori seems to pale slightly.
"I don't know much about them, other than they are a dangerous group. Maybe Stunk and Zel will know more?" Meidori turns around, and motions for me to follow her, and leads me to a table, where Stunk, Zel, a short guy with light blue hair, and a bear-looking being, with dark blue fur. They all turn to look at us, and I notice Stunk motions to grab Meidri in a strange area, and Meidori makes a bar stool appear from nowhere, and smashes him on the head with it, causing the stool to shatter into many small pieces. The other three have a sweat drop form on their heads, somehow about a third of the size of their heads.
Stunk suddenly gets back up, a massive lump on his head grinning all the while, looking at me and Meidori.
"Come on Meidori! It's all in good fun."
"Stunk, Zel, what do you know of the Karama Overturns?" I ask before Meidori can hit him with another stool.
The table instantly goes quiet, same with the neighbor tables. The four gain serious, concerned looks. The bear-looking guy seems to gain a slightly upset look, telling me that he has some unpleasant memories of them. "The Karama Overturns. While not a lot is known about them, besides a few commanders like Geringa, what is know is that the group is small, run by a powerful being, and they are a threat to Jade tier and below groups. Their last attack crippled Mori City, well Mori village now. They hate out worlders for some reason, and the leader while never seen is believed to be the strongest of the group. I am guessing you encountered the group?" Zel says, using a small dagger to leave thin cuts on the table, clearly nervous based on his slightly shaking hands.
"Yes, I did." So I explained my encounters with the group to them.
As I finish, Taget comes back out from hiding, looking around curiously.
"Geringa and you fought? Well, the fact you are still alive is a bit surprising. She isn't known for leaving her targets alive after all. You must have either impressed her, which isn't a good thing, or got her to like you in some capacity, which also isn't good. But the fact that you survived, is very surprising."
"That and the fact she didn't use her massive ti-" Zel is suddenly knocked down with a bar stool by Meidori, who has a massive red vein throbbing on her head's left side.
"Bad time to joke, Zel."
"Can you blame me for trying to lighten the mood somewhat Stunk? Brooz looks like he's gonna pass out."
Indeed, Brooz, who I assume is the blue bear guy, seems to be shaking like a leaf in the wind, at the mention of Geringa. "I assume the two have history?"
"Yes. Back when Brooz was a mere child, his family was rich, like rich enough to buy every establishment in the city, and possibly the city itself, and still have extra. To protect their son, Brooz, they hired Geringa as his bodyguard. Brooz, is it okay to continue telling him? I know this is very personal for you." Brooz just nods his head, hesitantly though. "Geringa was kind to Brooz, yes, but she had ulterior motives. His parents were targeted by someone, and Geringa was their hunter. Brooz was lucky, or unlucky depending on the point of view, able to hide from Geringa, though it is believed she let him live, and he watched her slaughter his parents. It wasn't pretty, but very nasty. She then stole their fortune and valuables, then left Brooz to mourn for his parents. That's just one story of the literal thousands she has been apart of." The short blue hair guy explains.
"Wow, Kanchal. I didn't know any of that." Meidori says, tearing up slightly at the story. Stunk and Zel also look shocked at the story given, clearly, they never heard this about Brooz.
Brooz on the other hand, has his head looking down, making it impossible to read his expression, though from the way his body is trembling, he a either crying or suffering from some form of mental pain.
I just start patting Brooz on his back, trying to help him calm down, even though I don't know him that well.
"Unbelievable. She's a monster." I say quietly, continuing to pat Brooz on the back, who is shivering slightly.
"Oh she is, I have also heard she's a monster in be-" Meidori suddenly smashes a table onto Zels head, knocking him out. Stunk just sighs, shaking his head at Zels antics.
"Damn it Zel. Well, Geringa is a bad lady, and she has a literal cabinet full of crimes she has committed, or been suspected of committing. It also doesn't help she is older than most elves, and she has the experience from said age, with no flaws of, well, age. She is an extremely dangerous opponent, one that can beat most Jade Teams on her own, with little trouble. The fact you survived an encounter with her, speaks highly of your ability and level of strength." Stunk says.
"Maybe, or it speaks that she felt I wasn't important enough to deal with." I say, walking back over to Meidori.
"Not really. She probably left you alive, because she finds you worth her time." Stunk says, taking a swig of a drink of some kind.
"If she left you alive, then she wants you for something." Brooz says softly. "She's a monster, but not a stupid monster, she knows what she's doing, and if she left you alive, she wants you."
Meidori gains an odd look, that looks slightly angry, be for dit disappears.
"Well, I guess I will have to deal with it when the time comes. Meidori, could I rent a room for the night?"
"Sure Link! That will be 3 Elf coins!" Meidori says happily.
"Wait... I thought it was five Elf Coins?" I tilt my head slightly, confused at the price difference.
Meidori seems to blush slightly. "Don't worry about it, Link."
I try to hand Meidori the five Elf coins, but she only takes three, before she pulls me to the room I am renting, and shoves me in. "Have a good night Link!" She's says before running off, I guess she has a lot of work to do still.
I go to the bed, and lie down, falling asleep easily.
Holy shit. I never expected this story, or any story of mine to reach 100 of anything, even views.
