Chapter 1

Reach

Kat's POV:

How could things go wrong so fast?

The last thing she remembered was running with her team so they could escape the first glassing and get to Dr. Halsey only to come under fire by a phantom along with an enemy sniper on board the phantom who for some reason was aiming specifically at her but had luckily missed her head by a mere centimeter, just grazing her helmet.

However just because it missed didn't mean it didn't hit one of the crumbling walls that was hit by the phantom's plasma rounds having the wall crumble along with the ceiling and being unable to get away in time, the ceiling had quickly collapsed with a large piece hitting her in the head knocking her unconscious while the rest fell in front of her blocking her escape were her team was, preventing them from saving her.

She eventually regained conscious after what seems like hours ago seeing as it was now dark outside and regaining her bearings she quickly notices that her visor was now cracked and covered in blood and of course worse of all her team was nowhere to be found.

She knew they had to continue the mission seeing as they were running out of time to stop the covenant but still the fact she was left behind made her frown.

Turning to where her robotic arm should be she also notices it's no longer attached which could only mean that it was under the rubble. Sitting up she looks for her weapon but doesn't see it anywhere which meant…

"Great. Not only did I lose my robotic arm but I also lost my weapon"

To think one shot from the sniper jackal, ONE SHOT had caused this mess.

Still...she had to admit she got lucky. She had decided to stop and take one last look back at the elevator for some reason which crazy enough saved her life otherwise had she just kept running then there was no doubt in her mind that she would've been killed by the sniper jackal.

Standing back up and checking to see if she at least had some grenades left which too her disappointment she only had one left, she then spots a small hole covered in soot leading outside that was conveniently big enough for her to squeeze through.

As she debated whether or not she should take her chances with one of the elevators she and her team had taken she then remembers that she had seen another landing zone just on the other side with a hornet when she first arrived on this tower and seeing no other way to get off this place and not wanting to take her chances taking the elevator in case any covenant were nearby, she decides to crawl through the hole until she is outside while conveniently there is a small ledge she could walk on.

Seeing as the ledge went around the building to where she wants to go she gets back up and starts her trek around the building while hoping she could catch up to the others not knowing they were already dead.

(keep in mind it has been a few hours so obviously at that point everyone in her team has died and the chief that was on the ship made it out safely)

As she moved slowly around the building, she started wondering why the city hadn't been glassed. Had the covenant changed their mind?

After moving slowly around the building for about a minute, to her relief she finally makes it to the landing zone and lucky for her the hornet was still there.

However there was one problem. There was a large group of covenant scattered around the landing zone.

There were two hunters, four elites, four jackals and ten grunts and to make things worse she had no weapon.

Luckily they hadn't spotted her seeing as they were all looking up at the battle cruiser hovering over the city for some reason. Seeing she had no way of getting to the Hornet she decides to head back inside and just take her chances with the elevator.

Unfortunately before she could back away quietly one of the grunts spots her alerting the others who opened fire on her having her back track to take cover behind the wall while making sure she doesn't fall. Looking back towards the hole she knew she wouldn't make it back in time and glancing back towards the covenant she sees the Elites were getting closer

As the Elites were coming closer her head started hurting while her vision was getting somewhat blurry and with no weapons, one arm and down to one grenade… she knew she was going to die.

Looking back one last time and seeing one of elites activate an energy sword, just as she was about to go out in a blaze of glory and kill as many as she can with her last grenade she then hears a wall explode.

Kat POV End:

The Elites seeing the blue armored demon hiding behind the wall were about to kill it when the wall next to them suddenly explodes followed by multiple little pale yellowish red ball looking creatures with tiny legs and a few spore like tentacles on their heads jumping towards them.

Suddenly out of nowhere one of the elites is down followed by another and seconds later the other two follow shortly.

With Kat:

'What?'

She didn't know what to make of the small yellowish red alien creatures or what had suddenly killed the four elites but then she saw it. She saw the outline of something cloaked in the darkness making it's way towards the remaining covenant who were desperately killing the small creatures which then started killing the grunts who were running around in fear while the Hunters and Jackals were firing at random not knowing what was killing them.

One by one the Jackals were killed followed by one of the hunters having the last one go berserk seeing it's partner killed who then began to fire at her location thinking she was responsible not seeing something decloaking behind it revealing not one but four hideous creatures with what appears to be white elite armor?

The creatures themselves had bodies that resembled that of an elite with the head of the elite twisted to the side of the shoulder. The rest of the body was a pale yellowish red color with the top part where the head should be were three small spore tentacles. In one arm it held an energy sword while the other arm was a hand that had large claws.

To Kat, they resembled the undead.

The four elite undead then all simultaneously stab the hunter in the back instantly killing it.

As this happened she then sees the small yellow creatures forcing their way inside the dead elites bodies and to her shock began to mutate them until they resembled the other four undead elites.

'WHAT THE HELL!'

It was clear that these creatures were far more dangerous than the covenant and not wanting to be turned into one of those things, having no other choice she pulls the pin and throws the grenade at them as a distraction while making a beeline to the hornet with the grenade going off hearing their weird screams and as she makes it inside she turns it on only to find out to her horror that the hornet was out of fuel.

'Noooo…'

Before she could try something else, one of the elite undead lands right on top of her and before she could react it then hits her with its long claws knocking her out.

The hornet was then covered in the small flood and just as they were about to infect her they suddenly stop.

"Bring her to me" a dark voice commanded having the same flood elite that knocked her unconscious grab her followed by all the remaining flood going back inside the tower.

This was just an idea from 2016. Hopefully someone likes it...maybe.
