Give the fans what they want, part 2
The campers began to pick their stuff. Even if Chris announced the title of the show, the cameras were still filming. It was only the queue to add the commercial break on the actual show.
They walked to their cabins. On the west side was the Foxes cabin and at the east the Ferrets. The shacks where dilapidated cabins just as those in Wawanakwa island.
It was clear Chris wanted to annoy them. The cabins were built for this season, so the pitiful conditions were intentional. Even then, the Pahkitew competitors were grateful that at least they have a roof and meal 3 times a day without needing foraging for it.
Beth came next to Duncan, making some small jumps. "Hey, Duncan, want to catch up?"
Duncan watched Courtney walking to the cabins. He took his sack and ran after her while replying, "Sorry, Beth. I'm in a rush."
"Bromigo what-" started saying, Alejandro. But Duncan ignored him and went running behind the camp counselor.
Alejandro stood there, blinking a couple of times."Bueno, it seems he doesn't like me."
"Maybe he is trying to go back with Courtney," said Beth, also surprised by the delinquent attitude.
Alejandro and Beth look at each other and said "Noooooo," at the same time, before laughing. Both knew Duncan, and there is no way he would try that. And even if he tried, Courtney would never agree.
"Señorita, you are so much fun, need help with that?" Said Alejandro pointing at her suitcase.
Beth blushed, looking at the ground. "Oh, no, no. Thanks anyway."
Alejandro winked and picked his backpack. "Well, see you later." As he went away. Heather glared at them with contempt, before she also made her way to the cabins.
Lindsay walked to Beth, who was watching with sparkling eyes at the Spaniard. "Isn't he dreamy?"
Lindsay put her finger on her cheek and tilted her head. "Maybe, I'm not sure. Tyler said he didn't remember quite well after the concussion, but maybe Alberto betrayed him. So be careful, he could be a model in cheap clothing."
"I know, thanks Linds, I'll be careful," replied Beth smiling, and then added, "And I think the proverb is a wolf in sheep's clothing."
Lindsay laughed at Beth's 'joke.'"Hihi, don't be silly Beth! Wolfs don't wear clothes, they are animals."
Courtney noticed Duncan running behind her, and decided to walk faster. She was not in the mood to talk with him. But the delinquent ran around the road and stopped in front of her, blocking her path. Courtney rolled her eyes, sighed and looked into his blue eyes.
"What do you want?" said Courtney coldly. It was bad enough that Gwen was not in the show to also had to deal with her ex-boyfriend.
Duncan looked at without smirking or smiling, talking in a serious tone. "I need to talk with you alone."
Courtney didn't have time for this. "We don't have anything to talk about." She made a conscious effort to don't yell and pushed past him toward the cabin.
Duncan ran around the trees, going ahead and blocking her path again.
"It's important! Listen to me, after this, if you want, we will never talk again." Duncan used the same serious tone, making an effort to don't smirk.
Courtney sighed again, trying to don't make eye contact."Just empty promises." And pushed past him again.
But he went ahead and blocked her path AGAIN. At this point, Courtney was losing her patience.
The delinquent looked into her eyes. "Courtney, please, I'm serious. Meet me at 10 at the campsite. I will be waiting for you."
It must be something silly, maybe he wants to make an alliance, or eliminate someone. I could use it. I mean Gwen is not here, and I don't have many allies. BUT NOT DUNCAN. He will only betray me again, same old Duncan. Thought Courtney, she was not so naïve to trust him again.
"No, Duncan, wait forever. I will not meet with you." Now he will insist. But to her surprise, the delinquent stopped blocking her path and ran to the cabin.
"I will be waiting for you!" shouted Duncan. The other campers looking at him shouting at the L.I.T.
Courtney looked at him with wide eyes and the mouth open. He had some nerve to embarrass her like that. "Didn't you hear me? I will NOT MEET WITH YOU!" she shouted, frowning and clenching her teeth.
Now even the people on the cabins were looking from their windows at the scene.
"I hear you, and I will be waiting!" Replied Duncan, running to the cabin.
Courtney used all her will to stop herself from yelling at that Neanderthal or throwing her suitcase to his head. She stomped her foot at the ground and went fuming at her cabin. There is NO WAY she will meet with him.
On the inside, the cabins were not better than outside. It was only a room with 4 bunker beds, old and dusty walls, and the floor was no better. Nobody would think that they aren't even 6 months old. Even then, the Ferrets girls were happy they didn't have to build their shelter.
"I will take a top bunker," said Amy, just entering the cabin.
Sammy frowned at her sister, raising her eyebrows. "Hey! Don't decide that by yourself."
"What's your problem, Samey? You will disagree with everything I say just because your friend Jasmine is here?" asked Amy in a mocking tone.
Sammy sighed and look at her sister's eyes. "First, My name is Sammy. And second, no, I disagree because there are only 4 top bunkers. And maybe someone else wants to sleep on top. To be fair with everyone, we all should agree."
Amy also sighed and glared at Jasmine. "Giant woman, you want to sleep on the top bunker?"
"No, I will be sleeping outside. And even if it's forbidden, I would prefer a lower bunk under Sammy." Jasmine said, putting a hand on Sammy's shoulder.
"Oh, your friendship is so wonderful," said Amy making a gag gesture, she then faced the treehugger. "Lilly, you prefer to sleep on the top or the bottom bunker?"
Lilly answer with some inaudible whispers.
"See, with her, there are two people that prefer bottom, so I can sleep in a top. Are you happy now, SAMEY?" Amy said, glaring at her sister.
Sammy looks at her sister with sad eyes. "That was not the point Amy, what I wanted is that you respect-"
"Yes, yes. Just accept you lose this time and leave me alone." Said Amy interrupting her sister. "C'mon Lilly, we can share bunker."
Sammy looked at the ground with the same sad expression. "I only wanted that she respected everyone's opinion before imposing hers."
"You did what you could Sammy, forget about her," said Jasmine. Just then, Sky and Charlotte come into the cabin to choose their bunkers.
Confessional Sky:
"Well, these months after losing Pakhitew were hectic. I have been focused on my Olympic career, and my trainer told me to not come back. But I have to come here to make sure of something. I only hope I can stay on the game long enough to find it." Sky said, looking at the door with a worried expression.
Confessional Charlotte:
Charlotte folded her arms and smirked at the camera."Well, it's a shame. I wanted to compete on Total Drama alongside other gamer legends like LazySchemer and M45TERS4M, but none of them are on the season. I will have to prove by myself that gamers are the master race. Especially against the ones like Jasmine."
Confessional Sammy:
"You know something. Jas is right! I am tired of trying to make Amanda into a better person. Sorry, mom. I know what you say about being the bigger person and helping my sister realizing she must be more kind. But it's useless! The first time we lose, Amy is going out of the island!" Said Sammy, hitting her palm with her fist.
On the ferrets' boys cabin they could hear the twin's argument quite clearly.
"Those sisters seem to have a lot of energy. That will be great for the team," said Brick with a grin across his face.
Topher shrugged while unpacking. "I will not be so sure. They seemed quite friendly, at least in the past season. But if you see the episodes, there was some kind of feud between them."
"Well, they are a pair of hot sisters, dude. They must be of the best in our team." Jay said, smirking while taking his skateboard.
Brick frowned, giving a stern look at Jay. "That's was not cool. You should show respect for your fellow teammates, Jay."
Jay smirked. "Relax dude. I didn't mean any harm. Don't lose your head, you will get gray hair." Then he went out to try to skate a little.
"My hair is still as black as ever, right?" replied Brick in a worried tone, looking at Dramaman.
The masked man looked at him, and give him thumbs up, before also going out of the cabin.
"Thank you." Said Brick saluting, then he turned to Max and Topher. "He seems like a nice guy, except for the creepy mask and all."
Max chuckled while carefully making his bed."You're all so naive. We may be teammates right now, but in the end, only ONE can win the prize. And that one will be the most cunning, the smartest and the most EVIL among us."
Brick blinked a couple of times, not knowing if Max was joking or not, he then looked at Topher who shrugged.
Confessional Shawn:
"Well, I hope they don't force us to sleep in the cabins. After all, if any of them turn into zombies in such a cramped area. We are all dead." Shawn said, looking worried around him.
Confessional Jay:
"What's the problem with that dude. He is only a softie from ROTI season, and he thinks he can order us around. What a joke." said Jay putting his hands behind his head. "Total Drama is all about hook up and make out. Everybody knows that. That's why I came."
Confessional Dramaman:
"Yes, I can talk, but I prefer not doing it. What's more, I would prefer not to be here, but business is business." The wrestler sighed. "Also, what kind of name is Dramaman? Chris, you will pay for this." He said, pointing at the camera.
In the foxes boys cabin, things were different. Among them, all knew each other. In fact, sans Cody, all have been together in All-stars season. So the atmosphere was heavier.
Lighting put his sack on a top bunker."Well, I hope this time the team is better. Last two times Lighting teams suck, we need to up our game."
"C'mon guy relax. All of us have been the third place or higher in at least one season. And the girls are also awesome, don't be so negative." Said Cody, trying to calm down the jock.
"Really? You don't seem to all that tough, scrawny boy," said Lightning jumping in front of Cody.
Cody smiled smugly. "You would be surprised." He wasn't intimidated by Lighting attitude, he has seen worse.
"Lightning likes your attitude, scrawny boy. You at least had a backbone, not like the others scrawny boys here." said Lightning looking daggers at Cameron.
Mike walked in front of Cam to back up his friend, while the brainiac looked confused at Lightning. Cameron didn't know why Lightning was so aggressive. But before he could reply, Alejandro stepped between them.
"Let's leave it at that. We are teammates, we need each other to win the challenges. Let's try to get along. De Acuerdo?" Said Alejandro looking first at Lightning and then at Cameron.
Lightning huffed and went back to continue unpacking, while Cameron relaxed. Alejandro looked at him and Mike and give them thumbs up.
Cameron smiled and sighed, relieved. "That Alejandro seems nicer than the last season, maybe he really changed."
"Be careful, Cam. I will not trust him too quickly. That guy is dangerous," said Mike. He never interacted with him personally, at least not Mike. But since he tried to blackmail Mal, he didn't trust him.
"I know, Mike! I'm not a child. He may be lying, but again, maybe he really changed. It would not be fair to at least give him the chance to prove it," said Cameron while adjusting his glasses.
Mike looked at Alejandro, lowering his eyebrows."I hope you are right, cam, I hope you are right."
Just then, Duncan came into the room. He threw his sack into a free bottom bed and then walked away to the door. Cody looked at him, narrowing his eyes, but didn't try to greet him.
Mike instead jumped to greet him, showing a sheepishly smile. "Hey, Duncan! Hello. I hope this time we can get along better and clear any misunderstanding between us."
Duncan looked at him, and said. "Yes, let's talk later," in a cold voice that gives Mike a shiver down his spine.
The delinquent then went out of the cabin, leaving a perplexed Mike looking at him.
"Maybe he thinks that Mal is still inside you?" said Cameron trying to
cheer up his friend.
Mike rubbed his arm and sighed."Maybe. I only hope I can make him understand that Mal is gone. Zoey really cares about him, so I want to be his friend."
Confessional Cody:
Cody made finger guns at the camera "The Codemaister is in the house, and this time, I plan to win the prize. Just wait and see. The problem is my teammates. Alejandro, I don't forget that he throw me to the sharks in Hawaii. And don't let me start about Duncan."
Confessional Duncan:
Duncan is smirking at the camera."If you are wondering, how or why I am here bad luck, I'm not telling you. It is true that I was in jail for blowing Chris' mansion, but now I'm back, and my team will end on top. I don't care if McLean is favoring the newbies, I mean, they get a giant amazon and we the polite midget? C'mon McLean, how much handicap you intend to give them?"
Confessional Cameron:
"Everyone underestimates me. But I'm not the same bubble boy I was in the All-Star season. After my accident, I have evolved into a better and fiercer competitor. Just wait and see." Cameron scowled at the camera with a fierce expression, or at least as fierce as he can do.
While in the foxes girl cabin, things were not much better. All the girls sans Courtney were already there.
Zoey walked next to Dawn, looking to the ground and rubbing her hands nervously. "Umh, well, Dawn, nice to see you again. How are you?"
Dawn's face beamed as she faced Zoey."Oh, Zoey, hello! I'm fine. I will use this chance to try to help mother earth. I'm happy to see you again, too."
"You will not say something about my aura or my childhood, right?" asked Zoey with a trembling voice.
Dawn looked at her with a sad smile."Do you want me to tell you about it?"
"Well, no. To be honest, I would prefer if you don't tell me, at least until I'm ready to hear about it, last time it really freaked me out," said Zoey rubbing her arm.
"Don't worry, then I will not tell anything about it. I only want to be friends and also help others. But if you feel uncomfortable with my readings. I will keep them to myself," said Dawn, looking at her in the eyes.
"Ok, we have a deal! Now tell me, what is your favorite music group?" said Zoey smiling happily at Dawn.
At the same time, Heather was looking at Beth and Lindsay chatting happily. The queen bee took a deep breath and walk to them.
"Hello girls, it's been a while," said Heather forcing a smile.
Lindsay frown at the Queen Bee."Not enough time, Heather-"
"Yes, what do you want?" said Beth, also frowning at her.
Heather scowled at them and tossed her braid. "Oh? I only wanted to greet you. But I didn't think you will be so rude and hostile."
"What did you expect? We trusted you and were your friends. And you just use us as tools and then threw us away at your convenience." said Beth raising her voice.
Lindsay looked at her with misty eyes. "Beth is right. You betrayed us. Even when we were the only ones that support you. And the worst of all, you never show any regret about it."
Heather stood there, glaring at them and holding her head high. She thought for a moment and then replied. "Just forget it. I can't do it, you are so pathetic. Keeping your resentment for something so pitiful that happen many years ago. You are so pathetic." She then tossed her braid again before going out of the cabin.
"For us, it was important. You were my best friend." Shouted Lindsay. "How can she be like so mean?"
"Forget it, Linds. She is going out after we lose the first challenge," said Beth glaring at the door as Courtney entered the cabin.
The Latin girl was fuming. All the girls hear the last part of her exchange with Duncan, so it was an awkward situation.
Courtney lay on her bed. She took a pillow and began to scream in it, smothering the sound with the pillow. She also punched it some times.
Zoey came closer and asked timidly. "Are you all right?"
"I hate him! I truly hate him!" Said Courtney, still grasping her pillow.
"Are you talking about Duncan?" asked Zoey. The rest of the cabin discreetly snooping at the conversation.
Courtney sighed. "Yes, I cannot believe his guts. How dare he to talk to me after all that happened. He is so shameless. There is no way I will meet with that excuse of a human being."She then sank her face again in the pillow.
"I think you should go. It sounded important." Zoey said, looking tenderly at Courtney.
Courtney sighed. She, at last, regained her composure. "Really? He would say and do the same things as always. I'm tired, it's always the same game with him."
"Maybe he had a change of heart. You should listen to what he has to say. You can always decide to ignore him after listening. But if you don't go, you may regret it." said Dawn, trying to give her some comfort.
"Thanks, but it is not worth it. He will never change," said Courtney, closing her eyes, making a nostalgic expression.
Beth frowned, not liking Courtney's attitude. "Why should he change? Duncan may not be perfect, but at least he is honest. He may be rude and scary, but you know what to expect. He is so different from a two-face, hysteric, controller like you."
"Yes, Courtney, if changing is like so easy. Can you change yourself? Because I try and still can't remember most people's names," said Lindsay trying to support Beth, but she really didn't feel hostility toward the L.I.T.
Beth, Lindsay, and Zoey expect the Courtney to go full ballistic. But instead, she stood up from her bed and went out of the cabin, replying, "I don't need or want to argue with you. Thanks, Zoey and Dawn. Let's talk later."
Zoey looked Daggers at the girls of the first generation, "That was uncalled, why you must be so mean with her?"
"Mean? She is Courtney! One of the meanest and bossiest persons we ever knew. If you let her be, she will be complaining all day."Said Beth, not believing Zoey was defending her.
"Even then, she was upset and venting with us. You have no right to bully her like that. Even if she was mean to you in the past," answer Zoey, before storming out of the cabin.
Lindsay put a hand on her friend's shoulder."She is right, maybe we go like a little too far."
Confessional Heather:
"Yes! I know I need allies. And I tried, I promise I tried, to talk with that four eyes and her barbie friend. But sorry I CAN'T. I can't feign being her friend. Is impossible, it would be humiliating." said Heather, almost spitting these last words.
Confessional Courtney:
"Well, here I am again. I come back to try to make amends with Gwen and maybe Scott, and none of them are in the season. Gwen, this plan of yours to come back to fix things with other contestant have more holes than Swiss cheese," said Courtney with a tired expression.
Confessional Zoey:
"That was disappointing. I hoped this time I could be friends with Lindsay and with Beth, they seem like nice people on TV. I can't believe they can be so mean in person," said Zoey pouting. " I mean, I also know that you cannot trust Courtney. But she was only venting. There was no need to told her that."
It was dinner time, most people went to the dining hall, except for Duncan, Shawn, Jasmine, Dramaman and Max. The place was like the one on Wawanakwa, old, dusty, and dilapidated. Behind the counter was Chef, frowning and dressed in his apron and chef's hat, which was too small for his head.
"Why is Chris' pilot dressed as a cook?" asked Sky raising an eyebrow.
Beth covered her mouth and whispered to Sky."Because Chef was the cook of the camp. At least in the first seasons."
"And can he cook?" whispered Sky in a skeptical tone.
Beth shook her head."Of course not, but don't let him hear you,"
"STOP THAT WHISPERING! This is where you get your meal, most of you will get the slop. NOW PIGTAIL, come here." Shouted Chef, the veins pulsing in his neck.
Zoey walked to the front, biting her lower lip. "Yes?"
"Here, fruit salad. Bon appetite." said Chef handling the salad to Zoey.
Zoey smiled, looking at the salad with wide eyes. "Wow, it even has oranges. But why?"
"Because you are the most popular camper off the lot, at least for now," said Chef shrugging.
Heather glared at Chef, frowning furiously. "Are you saying she is more popular than me?"
Chef huffed and rolled her eyes. "I don't know, ask DAM, is the computer which decides who is the most popular. I also have a special dish for the coward soldier, the creepy shorty, and the brunette geek. Now, where are the Aussie and the Zombie freak?"
"Jasmine is not here, she will skip dinner. I think Shawn is with her," answered Sammy.
"For what I care! The rest, get in line." said Chef shrugging. He gave Cody, Dawn, and Brick a personal dish and the brown slop to the rest of the campers.
At the foxes table, Alejandro sat next to Lightning while Heather sat in the furthest side of the table from him.
"What do you want?" said Lightning, while munching the slop.
Alejandro smiled, bowing his head a little. "Nothing. I only want to sit near the best athlete of the team. But if I bother you, I will take another seat."
"Mmm, You are a smart guy. You can sit with the Lighting. Most people don't realize that Lighting is the best. Shazam!" said Lightning, posing.
"Of course, you know it was a shame that Jo, Scott, and Gwen vote you out last season. We would have dominated with you on the team," said Alejandro with a sad expression.
Lightning nodded, and looked to Alejandro with a wide smile on his face. "Of course we would. It was about time someone realizes that. You are not as stupid as you look, Al."
Alejandro's eye twitched. He had to use all his willpower power to keep smiling and eating. This would be harder than he thought.
Confessional Lightning:
"Al is a smart guy. He realized how Sha-Lighning is the best and the strongest. I can't believe it took 2 seasons for someone to notice it. I mean just looks at these babies," said Lightning, flexing and kissing his biceps, "they are the best."
On the other side of the table. Heather sat next to Cody, who was talking with Cameron.
"And then she stole my glasses to measure them and make a copy. If she was infatuated with you. Why did she try to make a copy of my glasses?" said Cameron in an upset tone.
Cody shrugged and laughed. "Please don't be too harsh with her. She may be a little eccentric. But she is a good person."
"Well, she was not a mean person. But she didn't respect private property, personal space, or the meaning of the words, 'please stay away,'" said Cameron sighing.
Cody rubbed his chin. "Yes, it was weird. Sierra is not usually like that, I mean not anymore. But on TV, she seemed exactly like she was when we first met."
"You should have looked at her, she was totally in stalker mode. How is she doing right now?" asked Heather, intruding in the conversation.
Cody raised his eyebrows and shook his head. "I honestly don't know, Sierra received the invitation, but somehow she avoided come here. But anyway, even if she were here, she would be on the fan's team. I mean she is the uber-fan after all."
Cameron shuddered, "We can consider us lucky she is not here after all."
Heather made a small smile."Don't be like that. She can be fun and a good friend at times."
"Wow, Heather, it is so rare hearing you talking good about someone," said Cody, looking at her with wide eyes.
"Is indeed an abnormal behavior, are you feeling all right?" asked Cameron, adjusting his glasses.
Heather glared at them, but keep smiling. "Hahaha, very funny both of you, for your information, I can be very kind when I propose it."
Cam, Cody, and the queen bee laughed. After that, Cody and Cameron then began to discuss Einstein's theories while Heather started to question if sitting with them was a good idea.
In the ferret's table, Amy and Sammy sat in opposites sides of the table, the younger twin sitting across Sky while Lilly sits across Amy.
"Hello, Sky. You know, it is kind of weird, but I feel we are friends just because Jas is also your friend," said the twin trying to be friendly.
Sammy felt awkward. She didn't know much about Sky. She knew what Jasmine told her, what she saw on TV, and of course, the rumors. Even then she honestly wanted to be her friend.
"Hehehe, it's true is weird." Said Sky smiling timidly. "We didn't have the chance to talk during the last season, being in opposite teams and all that."
"Yes, but you did a great job, I mean you ended as the runner-up, that was impressive, I instead was eliminated 5th." Said Sammy with a sad smile.
"I was not that impressive. I have a lot of help from my team until the merge, and after that, I only did what I could." Said Sky, blushing.
"Don't be so shy. You were wonderful! You took each and every challenge head-on. Don't tell Shawn of Jas, but I was rooting for you in the final." Said Sammy in an excited voice.
Sky smile disappeared, she kept looking at the door with a sad expression "I was not wonderful. I make many mistakes. Too many mistakes."
Sammy blanched. Great job, Sammy. You just ruin the conversation. What is this uncomfortable feeling? There must be something I can do to solve this. But WHAT? Sammy bit her lip. Then her eyes sparkled, she found an answer.
"Crepes," shouted Sammy excited, Sky looking confused at her. "My favorite food is crepes, especially sweet crepes, chocolate, and banana being my very best favorite."
Sky chuckled. It was just so awkward. "Well, I don't like sweet food too much, except for chocolate. That's my favorite. But I don't eat much because it had too many fats. So I use it to reward me every now and then."
Sammy smiled, more relaxed. "Then, both love chocolate! That's wonderful. I also love gymnastics, but between gymnastics and cheerleading, I choose cheerleading. There is something in supporting the team that warms my heart."
The two girls' conversation was more relaxed from that moment. Amy looking at them from afar, narrowing her eyes.
"If Samey makes an alliance with Sky, we are in big troubles, Lilly," said Amy, biting her lower lip.
Lilly was puzzled, trying to pinch her brown slop, but it moved away every time she tried to pinch it with the fork.
Amy looked at her friend, raising an eyebrow."Are you listening?"
The redhead nodded hastily, "yes! but why do you say so, Amanda?"
"NEVER call me Amanda, please just call me Amy. Anyway, I say so because, with the zombie nut and the giant, they had four votes. That is a strong alliance, especially in the first challenges. They can eliminate anyone, including you and me." said Amy, looking at her slop, not knowing if she should try to eat it or not.
Lilly looked at the table, twiddling her fingers."Samey seems to be a kind girl. Maybe you can settle things with her, and work together."
"HA! Ple-e-ase Lilly. She hates me and is planning to eliminate me, only because I am better than her. But she is in for a big surprise." Amy, without thinking, pinched the blob an ate a portion, her face retorting with disgust as she swallowed it.
Confessional Lilly:
"I came here to try to be more confident, but I am also a fan of the show. So I know Amy was too mean with Sammy. But now Amy is the only one that has been kind to me. What should I do?" said Lilly in her soft voice, with a worried expression.
At the same time, in the forest, Jasmine found Shawn, that was foraging for food.
"You know we don't need to do that this season, right?" said Jasmine in a tender voice.
Shawn smirked, he had a bag full of food on his hands."I know, but I prefer to do it, you never know what they can put on the food." And he said that without seeing the blob they are supposed to eat.
"Did you found something?" asked Jasmine, putting a hand on her hip.
"Some berries, and some mushrooms. Now that there are real animals on the island, the food is scarce. But in an emergency, we can hunt a rabbit or a duck," said Shawn eating a handful of berries and offering the bag at Jasmine.
Jasmine took a handful of berries before looking at his boyfriend with a sad smile. "Also, I wanted to talk about Sky."
Shawn frowned, raising an eyebrow."What is there to talk about her? I mean, yes, she is here, and she is a strong opponent. But I think we can use her skills to win some challenges before eliminating her."
Jasmine crouched to look at her boyfriend's eyes. "No, Shawn. What I wanted is to form an alliance with her and Sammy. She is a good girl, and you were his teammate before."
"Eh? No, nope, ah ah, there is no way we are working with her. She is the type of person that enters your bunker. And when you ask her if she is alright, she answers 'yes I am fine, but-.' Until you find that the BUT means she is really bitten by a zombie in the leg and BAM! She raises as a zombie and eats you." Shawn said, folding his arms and turning away from the Aussie.
Jasmine sighed. "Oh, come on, Shawn! She is not at fault for what happened with Dave."
"Of course, she is! She led and betrayed him. You cannot play with other people's hearts like that. Especially if the other people is my friend," said Shawn pointing a thumb at himself.
"Shawn, that's not fair. She tried to tell him, and he didn't listen to her." Jasmine said, frowning. She hated how stubborn Shawn was about this.
Shawn sighed and faced his girlfriend. "Sorry, Jas. I don't want to argue with you. If you wish, I will not vote for her. But don't ask me to be his ally."
Jasmine looked at his eyes."You saw the reruns of the show. She also liked him. It was just a lot of bad luck, misunderstandings, and Chris putting that video,"
"She could feign those, just to gain sympathy after she led him. She knew they were recording. I am sure she is laughing about this and still dating that other guy," said Shawn frowning angrily.
Jasmine took a deep breath and put her hand on his shoulder. "At least hear her side of the story.".
Shawn sighed, defeated, and put his hand over hers. "I will not promise it, but I promise to try."
Jasmine kisses him tenderly on the cheek. "Thanks, Shawn, you are the best."
Confessional: Jasmine
"Shawn can be so stubborn, and not only about the zombies. He is a man of firm convictions. It can be lovely when it is about defending his loved ones. Still, it can be tiring when he discusses who are the true leaders behind the government, or the secret ingredients in pancake syrup that make it dangerous," she said, rolling her eyes as she mentions the last part.
It was night time, most campers have gone to sleep. In the ferrets' side, Shawn and Jasmine sleep outside the cabin. Max and Dramaman returned late, the last one with a different mask, also yellow and red, but with a red 'ZZZ' instead of a black net over the face. On the girls' side, the twins ignored each other, so it was a peaceful night.
On the foxes' cabin, Duncan slept outside, Mike wanted to look for him, but after what happened earlier, he decided it was for the best leave the delinquent alone. On the girls' side, there was a lot of tension. Beth and Lindsay against Heather and Courtney, Zoey against Beth and Lindsay, but even then, there were no more arguments that night.
Some hours later, Courtney looked around to be sure her teammates were asleep. She went out of the bed, still dressed, and walked to the campfire. There is no way he was still there, but she wanted to be sure. After all, Dawn was right, there was no harm in hearing him and then told him to get lost.
As she came closer to the campfire, she saw the flames were still burning and sitting near them, a shadow and the light of a cigar. She couldn't believe Duncan was still there. Courtney huffed and decided to go and end this charade.
Chris was drinking and watching a movie in the editing room. The room was a fancy area he used to rest and to edit the episodes that will be broadcasted. While he enjoyed himself, two interns were working in editing the material for the first episode of the show. It's late, but Chris wanted to watch the first edition before going to sleep.
The doors of the room opened. Chef entered dressing a white nightshirt and a nightcap.
"The challenge is ready, so I'm going to sleep." Chef said in a tired tone. The big man then raised an eyebrow as he looked at the screen Chris was watching, "Are you watching again 'the cat got your wallet?' It must be your worst movie."
"Oh, poor unenlightened Chef! This is a masterpiece ahead of its time. If we had released it a couple of years later it would be the best comedy EVER. Better than the movie of Will Ferrell I forgot the name." said Chris smirking and drinking.
"If you say so," said Chef rolling his eyes. He then glared angrily at one of the monitors. "What are those kids doing in the campfire?"
Chris looked at the monitor and raising both eyebrows and with an impishly smile."It's true, I didn't notice them, hehe. Let's watch what our sleepwalkers are doing."
But when he changed the feed for the campfire's camera, he found a great surprise.
The next morning, Brick waked up soon to go out and run. It was his daily routine, he was surprised as it was early and at least Shawn and the wrestler were not on their beds. (He ignored that the first didn't sleep on the cabin.)
As he went near the forest, the cadet noticed a familiar figure of a short blond girl sitting cross-legged on a trunk stump.
"Hello, ma'am! It has been a while," said Brick, jogging on its place and saluting.
Dawn opened her eyes and smiled at Brick, "Greetings Brick. Yes, it's been a while. Your aura is brighter than before."
Brick didn't understand about auras, but it was clear she meant it as a compliment. "Thank you, I hope that even if we are on different teams, we can get along."
"It's a delightful idea. We don't have to be enemies only for competing in this perverse game," said Dawn smiling.
"Also I-" but Brick was interrupted by the LOUD air horn sound that was played on the island broadcast system.
"Good Morning Campers, please come to the base of the mountain. It's time for your first challenge." Chris said in a serious tone.
Brick smiled at Dawn, "Well, it's time, good luck in the challenge."
Dawn stood up and bowed her head, "Good luck too."
Both went to the base of the mountain. Knowing that even if they wish the best to each other, tomorrow at this hour, there will be only 23 campers on the island.
Author Notes:
Well, it has begun, I hope you enjoyed the story so far, the next chapter the first challenge starts.
This fic is the longe version of my other one-shot I miss you, But there is no need to read that one to understand this one. The other is a resumed version of these 2 chapters from Duncan's perspective.
Do you already know who will be the first boot? Who will win the first challenge?
I decide to use this chapter to show some of the relations between the cast before jumping into the action, I think it's more natural than just jumping into the challenge, but that may be a matter of opinion.
As always, thanks for reading and I hope you like it.
