This story takes place after The Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry awoke to the screaming of Aunt Petunia outside of his bedroom. The loud persistent knocking on the door annoyed Harry enough to get out of bed like every other day. As Harry sauntered down the stairs, he heard the shrieking of his uncle for him to immediately start making breakfast. This morning was no different than any other day Harry had experienced. For the umpteenth time, Harry was forced to make eggs and bacon for his dreaded relatives. Despite all of this, Harry was counting the days until he could return to Hogwarts. For now, he would have to wait for another month before he could have the great pleasure of returning to Hogwarts. Finally, after he had prepared breakfast, he went back to his room to finish his homework for Professor Snape. The slimy git had given them an assignment that needed to be at a minimum two scrolls long. His disdain for the slytherin angered Harry because of all of the atrocities he had committed against him and his friends for no apparent reason.

Suddenly Mr. Dursley yelled at the top of his lungs for Harry to grab the mail while Mrs. Dursley made lunch. Normally this would have been delegated to Harry, but the Dursley's decided that they already had enough of Harry's cooking for the week. While searching through the mail, a small habit that Harry learned from a young age, he discovered a letter from his Godfather. Although the memories from his first year were fresh in his mind, Harry again took a letter but was better able to hide it this time.

"Boy, what are you doing! Bring the mail to me immediately!" Uncle Vernon yelled.

"Yes uncle, right away" Harry replied nervously.

Lunch was more delicious than usual. This might have been because he was looking forward to reading the letter, but usually Aunt Petunia did make a better meal because of years of experience. As soon as lunch ended, Harry rushed to his room in order to read his much anticipated letter.

Hello Harry,

I hope you are doing well. I hope you remember that offer that I extended this past year. I would like you to accept this offer as I have much I would like to explain to you and talk to you about. I am always reachable, day or night, via owl. Hedwig should be able to travel to Grimmauld Place. I hope to see you soon Harry.

Sincerely,

Padfoot

Standing near his bed in disbelief, Harry slowly sat down mulling over Sirius's offer. It would, no matter the situation, be millions, if not billions of times better than remaining with his abusive relatives.

"HARRY POTTER!"

The indiscriminate shrill of voices traveled so far that Harry was certain all of the neighbors close by could hear. After quickly running down the stairs, Harry squeaked out a barely audible reply.

"What's so important that you had to yell at the top of your lungs for me?"

"Why you insolent pratt! Your aunt and I were so generous to let you stay with us for all of these years." Mr. Dursley snarled.

"It just so happened that we are leaving for a lovely vacation up in Manchester. You better not do anything while we are gone, Mrs. Figg will be watching to make sure you don't do anything."

While Harry wanted to burst out that he would be staying with Sirius, but he was frightful of the rejection that was sure to come. Now if he was able to pin it as less of a burden on Dursley's, then they were bound to force him to leave.

Now confident in his ability to persuade them to allow him to leave, Harry promptly responded. "Hey Aunt Petunia, I was contacted by my godfather, and he said that he would be able to take care of me for the rest of the summer, so you wouldn't have to worry about me in the house, nor feeding me for the rest of the summer."

After a couple of minutes of intense discussion and contemplation between his Aunt and Uncle, they came to a conclusion.

"You may go, but you must leave by nine tonight" his aunt and uncle stated in unison.

After they had given Harry permission, Vernon and Petunia left for their bedroom in order to prepare for their vacation. Meanwhile Harry headed to his room in order to owl his godfather. After having prepared his letter, Harry sent Hedwig to Grimmauld Place. Having sent the letter, Harry sat down on the bed to fold his clothes in order to pack his trunk. After completing this, he hurried down stairs with the packed trunk. After setting it down near the front door, Harry sat down in the living room.

I wonder what Sirius wants to talk about. What is so important that Sirius would send the letter to remind me of the offer. Should I have so hastily sent the letter to him. Should I have talked to the Dursley's about such an offer? Should I have waited for the start of the next term?
