Chapter 8: Normal

(Narrator POV)

It was no Saturday and Noah was being released from the hospital. He showed major improvements that made his doctor comfortable to send him home. There was still some pain every now and then but nothing too bad. Olivia was happy that she could finally leave this hospital. Edgar however, who stuck by Olivia's side this entire time. Now had to go home alone. Of course he would still call and text but it wouldn't be the same. Hopefully he and Olivia can finally go out on their date together once she get Noah settled.

It was now 7:30am Sunday December 12 morning and Edgar had just finished getting ready for work. He text Olivia 'Good morning sunshine. Hope you have a wonderful day. If I can get through all of my missed work from last week early I might come see you at work or come by and see you and Noah. Have a good!' And with that he went to work.

Olivia had seen his text and her face lit up. He was such a sweet man. She replied 'good morning to you too! I hope you have a wonderful day as well. I wouldn't mind seeing you later if you can come. I always enjoy our time together. Give me a call whenever you have some down time.' Olivia sent the text but she didn't if she would have any downtime herself she was backed up on so many cases and the loads a paperwork she had waiting for her at the office she would not be prepared for.

She got dressed left Noah with Lucy, finally able to come back after her incident with her mom. Luckily it was just some indigestion the saw in her scans. Everything couldn't be better for the four of them. Well except if Olivia would finally go out with Edgar it'd be the icing on the cake.

It was around 2:30 when Liv got a text from Edgar saying 'lunch at that bistro?' She thought about it. She felt bad, she hadn't been able to go out on the official date he had planned the other night due to Noah being sick so she said yes. And left to meet him at the bistro a few blocks away she walked to get some fresh air, even though it was snowing she didn't mind. Neither did he. his firm was only two block away from the place.

Edgar arrived first and asked for a table for two. Asking to be seated next to a window. And tell the waiter that he was expecting a beautiful lady. From that point forward many beautiful looking women had walked in but it wasn't until Olivia walked in when the waiter spoke up and said her table was right over there pointing at Edgar. He was looking at the menu when she walked in the door, he felt her presents and stood up and took her coat of for her and they both slid into opposite sides of the booth.

"Well hello beautiful!" Edgar stated with a warm smile. Olivia blushes and smiled back.

"Hi. I'm glad I could get out of that office. Being cooped up in there was horrible." she laughed. "How has your day been?" she continued.

"It's been full of paperwork and lots and lots of phone calls but now it's amazing." he said smiling and winking at Olivia. "How are you?"

"If I'm being honest... I haven't been the greatest but I'm adjusting. I miss having you around to help. And so does Noah. He misses that masculine energy. But other than that I'm doing great." She knows she misses him more than just to help but she doesn't say that.

Before Edgar had a chance to respond the waitress came and asked if they were ready to order. Olivia got her usual sandwich with hot green tea. And Edgar said "I'll have what she's having just with a water please." The waitress left and took their menus. There was an awkward silence before Edgar spoke.

"Back to our conversation, I could come over a few times a week and take Noah out to the mall or whatever he likes to do. So that you have a break and Noah gets some masculinity."

"You don't have to do that. Noah will fine." Olivia brushes him off.

"But I want to Olivia. That kid is special, I know that from the little time I spent with him. Please let me. I will do anything for him." 'And you' he thought to himself.

"Fine. I'm sure Noah would love that." She smiled.

"Great! Just shoot me a text whenever and I'll come by and get him." Olivia Nodded.

"Edgar I never got the chance to really thank you for being with me last week. You are real sweet and amazing for doing that. And I still feel bad for having to cancel our date so if you still wanna take me out, one night?" She said.

"I don't know Captain. You really broke my heart when you cancelled on me. I was really looking forward to our date." He said jokingly. "But I suppose. Olivia will you go out with me Thursday night?"

"Well counselor, when you put it like that I can't say no. So yes I will go out on a date with you, but under one condition."

"And what would that be?" Then once again the Waiter has perfect timing and cut there conversation and had their food. They thanked the waiter and continued their conversation.

"Ms. Benson, you never answered my question. What is the one condition?"

"You have to accompany me to the NYPD Mandatory Christmas Gala next week. It's always really fancy so where your best attire." She stated

"More time with you... count me in!" He exclaimed.

They finished eating their food with light conversation in the mix and paid then left. Now they were outside and they stopped. Edgar took both of Olivia's hands.

"This was nice." he stated

"It really was I enjoyed myself." Olivia said with a big smile on her face.

"Why don't I walk you back to the precinct? It's not to far from here or my firm." He asked hoping she would agree.

"I wouldn't mind that at all." They began walking his hand on the small of her back. the three blocks back to the precinct and Olivia asked. "So the date Thursday night? where are we going and what should i where?" she anxiously asked

"You should where a nice dress, but where we are going has to remain a surprise." He said leading her on. She whined in response to his response.

They were at the precinct and he walked her inside hugged her goodbye. And went on about there day waiting for Thursday to come.
