Chapter 14: The News

(Narrator POV)

Back in Edgar's room the doctors were trying to save him and looked for what went wrong. It has been almost five minutes since everyone was escorted out of his room. They got him back... just to lose him again.

The doctor was looking at him while everyone was frantically moving to resuscitate. He put his stethoscope to his ribs and screamed "it's his lungs! We need to trache him and get him to surgery; Fast! His lungs are filling up with blood. He has a blood clot in his lungs." The doctor moved everyone out of the way and got Edgar down to surgery. There was no way he would let him die. He couldn't do that to Olivia.

In the family room, everyone was getting tired. Everyone was emotionally drained. Once Kevin returned with the kids Dianne had been asleep for some time and Ulrich was dosing off. Morgan fell asleep when Kevin got back. AJ and Sasha were sitting on chairs but they were tired too. Olivia decided it was time to leave the family room she didn't know if she was gonna stay at the hospital or go home. She told AJ and Sasha to lay down on the bench and they were sleep before you knew it.

Noah was sleepy too. She put him on her front side while he rested on her shoulder. She opted out on leaving so she sat in the emergency area waiting room. She just sat and thought while Noah rested in her lap, about all of the possibilities she had with Edgar. He would marry her, have kids with her, be together forever. But right it seems like that's never gonna happen.

An emergency had just come through the emergency room it was really loud and she had an extreme migraine. The person on the gurney was having a seizure. She saw a certain blonde following the gurney who was stopped by doctors. It was Kathy Stabler.

Kathy turned around and is crying walking into the waiting room. When she saw Olivia. "Olivia?" Liv looked up and there Kathy was she was sure of it now. "Hi Kathy" she said with a light smile.

"What are you doing here? And who's this?" She asked trying to desert her mind from her son.

"My boyfriend was in a car accident and this Noah; my son." She spoke with a smile.

"Wow. Time has gone by fast. How bad was the accident?" Kathy asked.

"He's in pretty bad shape. I actually don't know if he's even alive anymore. He flatlined when I was in the room. So he's probably dead at this point."

"Don't think like that. He is probably fine they would have already told you if he was dead. But he's not he's gonna be okay."

"Thank you Kathy. Why are you here?"

"Oh umm... dickie isn't the same person he used to be. He started doing drugs and he overdosed..." she started crying again. "Oh my gosh it the scariest thing to see. He started to seize and all I could do was call 911."

"It's okay Kathy. Once they get calmed and give him naloxone he will be fine. I promise."

"I hope so..." they both looked up and saw a man yelling and punching this guy. Olivia's migraine couldn't not take this. She felt like she was gonna pass out. After the altercation was dissolved she saw what looked like a familiar silhouette but her vision was getting blurry. Next thing she heard was "hey Elliot." From Kathy. But was it just her mind messing with her. "Hey Kathy how is he?"

"They just took him not too long ago." They turned to go sit back where Kathy and Olivia are sitting when Elliot saw her. "Olivia?" Olivia has so many emotions going on: she is mad, sad, happy, shocked, and in pain all at the same time. She asked Kathy if she could take Noah for a second. Her emotions were flowing. But her anger took over her emotions and she glared at him and stood up and walked away briskly. And of course Elliot followed.

Outside in the parking garage Elliot caught up to Olivia and grabbed her arm she turned around and punched him very hard in the face. "Stay away from me... I know you're good at because you've done it for almost ten years now!" She was raging but that only made he migraine worse.

"Wait Olivia. Please I just want to talk to you."

"Now! Now you want to talk! Why couldn't we talk... I don't know eight years ago before you left? Why couldn't we talked after everything that happened? I know why, it's because you left. Without any type of notice, without telling anyone, and without telling me! Me! Elliot, me! I was your best friend, we went through everything together. But one day you just decided you wanted to leave. Like I was nothing to you. You never even tried to call or text me! I know because I called you a million times Elliot! But if I ever pulled a stunt like you did, you would never talk to me again!" Elliot cut her off there.

"But you did pull a stunt like that Olivia! You left and went to computer crimes."

"Because you didn't want me as your partner. I guess you forgot that part. You were tired of having to look out for me. You couldn't handle it. Even though that's what a partner is for. You said you didn't want me as your partner. So I went to computer crimes. I still talk to you didn't I? Yeah I did. I didn't just go totally off the grid!"

"It was hard for me too Olivia you think I just wanted to leave you!"

"Yes!"

"Olivia you know that's a lie! I would never leave you-"

"But you did! The damage is done Elliot! I hate you. So do myself and you a favor and stay the hell away from me!" And Olivia went back into the hospital to grab Noah with

tears streaming down her face. "Olivia are you okay?" Kathy asked concerned with the tears falling down her face and she looked pale.

"Yes I'm fine." She snapped. Edgar's whole family walked into the waiting area.

"Olivia wait!" Elliot yelled. The waiting was quiet.

"Wait for what Elliot! All I have done for 8 years is wait and wait for you to show up or call or something! But you never showed up! So why should I wait for you any longer?" Olivia tried to get Noah from Kathy but, Kathy stopped her.

"Olivia I really think you should sit down or get checked out. You don't look well."

"Give me my son! I'm fine I just don't need this right now or ever!" She said talking about the situation with Elliot.

"Olivia please get looked at I don't want you to pass out and then have Noah fall as well." Dianne stepped up and offered to take Noah. Olivia agreed to that. Elliot tried once again to talk to Olivia.

"Olivia please hear me out." He pleaded.

"No Elliot I'm done!" She turned to walk away but he grabbed her arm.

"Elliot let me go... Now! I'm not kidding Elliot if you don't let me go. I promise I'm gonna kick your ass. Now let me go." And before Olivia could, Kevin and Ulrich stepped between them.

"Sir, Olivia obviously doesn't want to talk to you. I need you to let her go." Kevin said calmly.

"Look I don't know who the fuck you are but if I want to talk to Olivia I'm going to. So move." Talking to Kevin. "Olivia I just want to talk to you. Please." Now talking to Olivia begging to talk. Olivia was beyond dizzy she felt like at any moment she would pass out.

"Okay, sir! I'm telling you, you need to let her go now! And I'm not kidding. Olivia is obviously doesn't want to talk to you and as you can see we are concerned with her wellbeing so let her go!" Kevin said getting mad a little bit. Elliot let her go. Kathy took Elliot outside. Ulrich was supporting most of Olivia's body weight she felt so weak.

"Olivia, honey what's going on?" Ulrich asked.

"I have a really bad migraine. I just need to lay down I was on my way home. I was gonna let you all lay down and take a nap in the room so Noah and I left. Oh my gosh." She groaned in pain. "My head is killing me I just need to go home or somewhere not here, I just can't take it anymore.

"Olivia I think you ought to stay here and get checked out. You're hot and have a headache. I think you should stay." Ulrich trying to make Olivia stay but it wasn't working.

"No I need to go." Releasing herself from his arms dizzily. "Come on Noah."

"Let us keep Noah, so you can rest. Please he will be fine with us." Dianne trying to relieve some of Olivia's stress. Olivia obliged and left. Ulrich walked her out not knowing if she would cross paths with Elliot again and drove her to her apartment. When she got to her apartment all she could do was cry she had be through so much over the past three weeks and Edgar was there for her and now his life is in jeopardy because of her she felt like. And she finally is happy in a relationship , she wants to be with Edgar, become his wife, be everything to him. But it seems like her fairytale is over.

After Olivia had no more tears to cry. Her migraine had only gotten worse she attempts to get up and get to the medicine cabinet but her head feels so heavy she can't walk straight. She call the precinct and Kat answers. "SVU this is detective Tamin how may I help you?"

"Kat it's Olivia."

"Hey cap how is everything?"

"I need you to come and get me."

"Where?"

"My apartment."

"I'll be there." Kat got up told everyone she was heading out and Olivia needed her to pick her up. Fin asked if she needed him to go but she declined his offer.

15 minutes later Kat arrived at Olivia's door "hey Cap I'm here."

"The door is open." She weakly stated. Kat walked in and Olivia was bent over the counter her arms covering he head. "Cap?" No answer. "Liv? What's going on?"

"I need to get back to the hospital I don't have my car." She said still in the same position.

"Okay but are you okay?" She walked over and place her arm on Olivia's shoulder.

"Yes I'm fine let's go." She shot her head up regretfully. She lost her footing but she caught herself on the counter and Kat caught her back. "Uhh Liv what's up with you?"

"Nothing I'm just tired and I need to get back to the hospital." They safely made it to the hospital and they walked in and the lights were so bright Olivia had a hard time getting to the family room. Kat kept one arm on Olivia's back to make sure if she fell again she would catch her quicker. No one was in the family room. So her and Kat sat in silence until everyone got back. Kat took a phone call outside and that's when Edgar's family arrived. She hung up and told them, "hey guys Olivia is in there she's not sleep but she looks like it. She seems kind of off. I know that right now nobody would be perfect. But it seems like something going on below the surface. The lights are dimmed and she is sensitive to bright light and loud noises. So if you could keep it down when you get in there please and try to figure out what's wrong she won't tell me." They nodded. Morgan spoke. "I'll try to talk to her I think she'll talk to me." Suggesting that she should be the one talking to Olivia given that they are closest out of the family group.

"Great well I'm gonna let Olivia know I'm leaving and I'll be out of your way." They all walked up to the chair Olivia occupied and Kat told Olivia. "I'm leaving and Edgar's family is here now. Try to get some rest."

Olivia propped herself up on her elbow "thanks Kat." Weakly smiled. "Hey guys! You can turn the lights up if you want." Not really meaning it but the room is for them.

"Are you sure?" Ulrich asked

"Yes."

"I think we'll leave it as is." After that everyone did there own thing but Olivia realizes that kevin once again isn't here. "Where Kevin?"

"He's at a hotel getting us a room. He should be back any moment now." Morgan states.

"You don't have to pay for a hotel you guys can stay with me and I'm sure Edgar wouldn't allow you to stay at a hotel his house is plenty big but is about 20 minutes away."

"It's no problem we'll figure everything out when Edgar is okay." In come Kevin "why is it so dark in here?" He flipped all the lights on and everyone eyes had a hard time adjusting but Olivia she had to hold back a painful scream. All she could say was "oh God, oh God... please help me. Oh my Gosh."

"Kevin turn the lights back down!" Morgan snapped.

"No it's fine he can leave them on." Breathing deeply trying to calm herself.

"I'm sorry I didn't know. Why were they so low?"

"Umm I was in here... trying to rest." Trying to figure out an excuse because she knew everyone would just get worried again.

"Olivia what's really-" there was knock on the door. The doctor walked in "may I speak with Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin?" Dianne and Ulrich walked out. "Yes doctor is my son okay?" Dianne said needing to know answers.

"Edgar is fine he is stable right now he isn't conscious he should wake up in about and hour or two. But your son almost had an heart attack there was so much strain on his heart because of its extra work to pump out blood and the blood clot in his lungs didn't help. But he should be fine. He's gonna need physical therapy for at least two months because his leg almost was severed. You guys can go see him but until we move out of the emergency ward only two at a time please."

"Oh thank God. Thank you Jesus!" Dianne shouted.

"Thank you doctor." Ulrich said.

They went back in the room everyone was waiting patiently to hear the news on Edgar. Dianne walked in and just yelled "he's alive!" Everyone had so much weight off the shoulders. Her yelling really irritated Olivia's headache. But Olivia couldn't be more relieved right now. "Can we see him?" Olivia asked.

"Yes two at a time though. And he's unconscious but should be up in an hour or two."

"Okay. What are you two waiting for go see your son."

Everyone practically ran out Olivia didn't move and it didn't go unnoticed by Morgan. "Hey Liv? Can I call you that?"

"Yeah that's fine. What did you need?"

"All day you have seemed off is there something else bothering you?"

"No I'm good thank you for asking."

"You know I'm a psychologist right? I can tell when someone's lying to me and you have been doing it all day. I know it's hard to open up to a stranger. But sooner or later I'll be you sister, you can trust. So what's going on?"

"I have been really stressed about everything and my old partner showing up didn't make anything better. I have had the horrible migraine for hours and nothing is working the pain is so strong and so complete I feel like I'm gonna pass out. My head is really heavy but I'm trying to keep my focus on Edgar and not a big deal out of a headache. That's it. Thank you for checking on me though but I'll be okay I promise."

"Okay well I think you should listen to my dad and get one of your doctor friends to give you a check up." And left with that statement. Olivia was tired of people saying that so we went to go get looked at so everyone would stop saying it.

After thirty minutes of waiting. The doctor said she's very dehydrated and needed to drink lots of water if she didn't want to be hooked on an IV. She went back up stair to Edgar's room Morgan and Kevin were in there and so she decided to check his phone which had been blowing up all day. She saw one text that stood out to her it was Steve the guy from the hotel they were supposed to meet for coffee apparently. She responded and told him lightly what happened he asked what hospital and room number she gave it to him. It was her turn to see him.

She walked in and she had flashbacks to the first time she was in here. Ulrich urges her in lightly pushing her. "Do you want me to come in with you?"

"No I think I need to do this by myself. Thank you though." She smiled. She sat on the chair on his left side. Held his hand she heard the door close and she started talking. "You can't keep doing this to me. This is the second time in under 24 hours. Don't let there be a third because I will personally kill you before you kill yourself. You can't keep dying on me. You know how I am and how I get. I love you so much. Nor than you can know I'm just so scared. I want to be with you. Please be okay. Please.

"I'll be okay." Edgar said hearing the majority of what she said. It threw Olivia off. "Edgar?"

"Yes baby?

"Oh my gosh you're really alive! Don't ever do that to me or-"

"You'll kill me before I kill myself I heard that part. I heard bits in pieces I was in and out." He said with a raspy voice. She laughed everything would be uphill from now on but she could think of anyone to do it better with.
