Chapter 17: You're kidding

(Narrator POV)

That night Edgar had spent the night with Olivia and Noah. Olivia had a hard time sleeping she stirred in her sleep. Edgar just held her until she relaxed. He hadn't been to sleep yet he had done a lot of think but his train of thought went away when Olivia woke up and ran in the bathroom, of course she didn't know Edgar was awake. She threw up and she heard a light knock she stood up and opened the door and Edgar was there. "Hey." She weakly smiled.

"You okay?"

"Not really. I have no idea where that came from. It's probably because all of the stress I have dealt with in the last 24 hours. But I'm okay now." She moved past him and laid down. "What are you staring at? Come get in the bed with me already." She laughed.

"Don't have to tell me twice." He hopped over to his side of the bed, decided against the crutches. He wrapped his arms her and stroked her smooth skin. Olivia feel asleep and was very peaceful.

Edgar about 30 minutes later heard something fall in Noah's room he went to make sure everything was okay. Noah was silently crying. Edgar flipped one light on and saw him crying. "Noah what's wrong?"

"I'm okay." Trying to be a big boy he shrugged the question off.

"Noah... you're crying somethings wrong."

He moved to Noah's bed and sat with him.

"The bad guy he took mommy away from me, I never saw mommy again, and I was all alone. Nobody loves me but mommy. And what am I supposed to do without her. I don't have a dad like my friends do, she's all I got."

"Well Noah I can tell you that no bad man took your mom because she is in her room sleeping right now. But I don't think mommy is the only person who loves you."

"Then who else? Grandma Sheila went away and mommy has no family but me."

"Well... I can name a few people; Uncle Fin, Chief, Aunt Amanda."

"You don't love me?

"Of course I do! But I was telling you that there are other people; other than mommy, who love you. And I thought you knew I loved you?"

"I don't know maybe."

"Come on we're bro's... of course I love you! But the real question is do you love me?"

"Are you kidding? I love you so much. You make mommy happy and if mommy is happy then I'm happy too! And like you said we're bro's." The two boys hugged and fist bumped each other.

"And Noah? Soon my family will be our family! I love you kid." Noah smiled.

"Can you lay with me until I fall asleep?"

"Sure Noah!" Noah snuggled his head into Edgar's chest. About 15 minutes later he was out. Edgar tried to move but Noah looked like he was about to wake up every time he was moved so he stayed with Noah for the night.

Olivia got back up again to puke and notice Edgar was gone. She knew he wouldn't have driven, or at least shouldn't have so she walk into the kitchen area and he wasn't there, then peaked over the counter he was in the living room she turned around to look in the guest bathroom and she suddenly stopped, backed up, and there he was sleeping while holding her son. She taken aback by the sight of her boyfriend and her son. Olivia is glad that they get along so well it makes it so much easier for her because she loves both of her boys but of course Noah is her top priority. She didn't know what she would do is Noah didn't like Edgar. But she stops that though and try's not to focus in the what if's.

She went back to her room and grabbed her phone to take a picture of her two boys hoping that the flash wouldn't wake them up. She turned back to her room and looked at the picture, closed her phone, and just thought about life. Where she wanted to go, who she would be with, would she and Edgar last forever, how many kids she wanted. Just little things. Then she heard tapping on the floor and knew it was Edgar's crutches. You could tell he was trying his hardest to be as quiet as possible but it's a little hard given his circumstances. "What are you doing up?" He asked.

"Oh nothing I threw up again and I'm just thinking." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He moved to his side of the bed and laid beside her.

"Yeah." She whispered and played with his hair.

"So what were you thinking about?"

"Oh just life, you and Noah. And thank you for laying with him."

"Nah, it's no problem!" After that they sat in silence for a few seconds Olivia asked Edgar "do you want kids?" Edgar new his answer but he wasn't expecting that question so he didn't say anything. Olivia turned to look him in his eyes. "Uhh yeah I want kids. I wouldn't mind a little me and you running around."

"So you want to have kids with me?"

"Yes I told you already I'm done after you if you ever break up with me. Why? Are you pregnant!"

"No reason just another one of my thoughts. Just seeing where your mind was too."

"Oh. Do you want more kids?"

"Of course I do and so does Noah he really wants another sibling around or a pet."

"Good to know. But as long as I have you and Noah I great."

"You're sweet. Let's get some more sleep." They spooned each other. And as Olivia dozed off Edgar whispered "I'm gonna marry you one day." Olivia heard it and couldn't stop smiling. He wanted to marry her. And she wanted to marry him.

In the morning Edgar and Olivia woke up to loud banging at the door. "Coming!" She got up and she felt nauseous. She held it back though. Edgar wasn't too far behind getting up to see who was at the door. Olivia opened the door, there was standing Dianne and Ulrich. "Where's my son? Oh Edgar you're okay! You didn't reply to anyone's text or calls we thought something was wrong by the way Olivia came storming in the house last night. Is everything alright? Are you two okay?"

"Yes mom I'm okay and we are too! There was a just miscommunication between us but it's all figured out. I'm sorry I didn't answer to you guys I was just busy over here, trying to figure why she was upset."

"It's alright son. Olivia? Are you okay honey? You seemed very bothered last night."

"Yeah I'm fine just some familial issues but I'm fine. He helped me calm- excuse me for a second." She turned and went into the bathroom a threw up once again. Edgar invited his parents in while he went to go check on Liv. "Woah- you sure you okay?" All of the puke that just came out threw him off.

"I don't know I'll ask a doctor when I go to the hospital today if we do at work. If not I'll make an appointment." She stood up and rinsed our her mouth.

"Okay well in the mean time I don't want you to go to work-"

"Okay."

"I know you won't listen to me- wait. What? You said 'okay'?"

"Yeah. I'll stay home until the Christmas gala tonight. You do remember that we are supposed to got to that... right?"

"I'm sorry I can't I scheduled somebody and a meeting around that time." She nodded and moved pasted him. He knew she was mad but she was trying hold it back. They talked to Ulrich and Dianne for a few minutes until Olivia basically told them; including Edgar, it was time to leave. It was just her and Noah for the day she knows that Noah loves the snow and whenever her got up they would go out and do some activities.

After a few hours it's 2:00. Olivia and Noah are out and about. They first went down to the park, then to the sledding hills, next was to go home change and go to lunch. And of course they went to everyone's favorite bistro. Once seated Olivia and Noah started to have a conversation. "Hey mom?"

"Yes honey?" She said still looking at her menu.

"I like Edgar. I know I have said that but I really like him." Olivia put her menu down with that statement.

"You know Noah I really like that you like him. It makes mommy happy. But what is all of this about?"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh come on Noah I know when something's up. What is it?"

"I don't it's just Jeremy he keeps talking about how awesome his dad is and I don't have one, and I really like Edgar and I don't want him to go away like Uncle Rafa did."

"Oh honey, I can assure you that Edgar is not going anywhere. He is here to stay. And with Edgar we have more family like his parents and his sister and AJ and Sasha."

"That's so cool I really love spending time with them. Can Edgar come with us for the rest of the day until you leave tonight?"

"Unfortunately, Noah. Edgar has other places to be and he won't be with either of us tonight." Noah frowned. "I know right kid." They both laughed, ate, then left it was about 4:00 they were both really tired especially Olivia she started to feel sick to her stomach she went and laid down in her bed and Noah came to join.

"Hey mamma!"

"Hi baby what do you wanna watch?"

"Wreck it Ralph!"

"Okay hold on." She ran in the bathroom and threw up there was a little blood which freaked her out but Noah saw it in the bowl too. Should I call 911? Mommy?" Olivia just kept throwing up. Noah took it upon himself to call someone for help... Edgar. It rung three times.

"Hey Liv!"

"Edgar?"

"Noah? What is it buddy?"

"Mom is throwing up a lot and there's blood she told me not to call 911 so I called you because I'm scared."

"It's alright Noah I'll be over as quick as I can."

"Okay. Bye." Edgar knew he shouldn't drive but it was the only way. He had to to get to Olivia. Make sure she's alright. He grabbed his keys to his car that hasn't left the parking lot in over three weeks and moved as quickly as he could. "Mr. Goodwin are you in a hurry?"

"Actually yeah."

"Is your ride here?"

"No I have to go my wif- my girlfriend need my help so I must get there. So you lease excuse me."

"Sir I understand that. You girlfriend gave us the rules to never let you drive until she says so."

"Well too bad. I have to go..." he was off he just need to be with Olivia.

"Edgar where you going man?" The desk guy asked.

"My girlfriend needs my help so I gotta go. No I don't have a ride I just need to get there."

"Now Olivia would be mad if I let you drive so let me drive you I'll get a cab when I drop you?"

"Okay let's go!" The ride to Olivia's house was long and Edgar couldn't take it he was getting antsy. Olivia on the other hand got back in bed. Noah cuddled up with her as they watched Wreck it Ralph. About ten minutes later Olivia heard someone unlock her door. The only person it could be was Edgar. I came in as fast as possible. He saw Noah walk into the hallway. "Olivia! Noah? Where's mommy?"

"She's in the room. I think she feels better."

"Okay well let's see... Olivia?"

"Hey."

"I thought you had work."

"I did, and I still do. But Noah said that you were throwing up and there was a little blood He was scared so he called me to come make sure you were okay."

"Mhmm." She flipped her back to him. Edgar knew she was still upset about the fact he wasn't gonna be at the Christmas thing tonight with her.

"Okay, uh Noah can you go out for a second?" He nodded then left. I star set his crutches in the wall and hopped to the bed and propped himself up on one elbow and said, "look I know you're mad at me because I didn't keep my promise about going to the dance with you. I'm sorry I just-"

"It doesn't matter I don't even like going to these stupid things anyway. I only have to be there for an hour. Don't worry about." She said alarmingly calm. Edgar didn't know what message she was trying to cross but he was confused.

"Yes I'm sure. Now can you move or leave I don't care which but I want Noah back in here. We were enjoying our time together."

"Yeah but first are you okay? I really only came over here to check on you."

"Yeah I'm fine just a little queasy."

"Okay..." he got up and opened the door and told Noah it was okay for him to come in now.

"Edgar can you stay and watch the movie with us?" Edgar didn't want to say no but he knew he couldn't stay.

"I'm sorry kid I can't. I gotta get back to work."

"Okay." Noah said sadly.

"I'll text you later Liv."

"Okay, whatever." He crutched over and kissed her "I love you."

"Yeah. Love you too, bye."

"Love you Noah." Olivia looked between the two boys wondering what was going on.

"Love you Edgar!" Edgar was out the door and we n his way back to work. It was Christmas Eve and he was already failing at everything. He want Olivia to have a good holiday and he is ruining it.

Back in the room with Olivia and Noah. "Hey Noah? What was that about?"

"What was what about?"

"You and Edgar when did that start?"

"Uhh last night. I had a bad dream that you had died and it made me realize that I don't have any other family. But anyways he heard me in my room and he came in, talked to me, and he said that he loved me, I was his family, and his family would soon be as our family." Olivia let all of her frustrations go at the last statement. They had never talked about marriage because it was too early in the relationship, but there's no one else the wanna be with. That's the reason he was in Noah's room. It all makes sense now. She loved her boys and now they love each other. On the inside she was on cloud 9.

"He said all of that?"

"Yup and he laid with me until I fell asleep."

"He's pretty awesome isn't he?" Noah agreed with his mother. They finished watching Wreck it Ralph and by that time it was time for Olivia to get ready for the policeman's dinner.

"Okay Noah mommy has to get ready. When I'm ready I'm gonna drop you off at Edgar's house." He nodded and went of to play with his toys in the living room. Olivia had already, well Edgar had picked out Olivia's dress for her since they were gonna go together. It was a navy blue colored dress with over the top ruffled short sleeves. But she didn't know how she would feel about wearing the dress since Edgar wasn't gonna be there. And she didn't feel like having men checking her out. Especially her colleagues. But she didn't feel like searching for something else to wear. She put on a nude face of makeup, she paired her outfit with white heels that had silver crystals sporadically around it, grabbed her wallet, and was out the door with Noah on her way to Edgar's house.

When she arrived she saw a huge, glamours tree from his window. She knew I hadn't been Edgar who did this it had to Morgan and his mom. She knocked on the door. And the door swung open by AJ and Sasha. "Olivia, Noah! You are just in time we decorating the tree and making cookies!"

"Awesome!" Noah ran in the house Olivia walked in behind him. When Kevin walked up to her and gave her a hug. "Hey Liv."

"Hey, thank you guys for watching him I won't be gone long. Sorry to interrupt your festivities but thank you again."

"It's no problem the kids love being together so it's no big deal. And we love Noah as well." Kevin shrugged his shoulders, then Morgan came in.

"Olivia! It looks like someone has a date with my brother tonight...?"

"Actually he cancelled on me. We were supposed to go but then he couldn't." She tried not to show it on her face but she was very disappointed and sad. And it was aware to both Kevin and Morgan.

"Well his loss right?" Morgan said.

"Yeah. Well I'll see you guys later. Noah be good okay?" Morgan gave her a hug.

"Okay!"

She was out the door. And Kevin has an issue with Olivia going to the policeman's dinner by herself. So he called Edgar. It ring three times. "Hello."

"Edgar are you serious! How could you just completely stood Olivia up on Christmas Eve!"

"I didn't mean to it's just have been behind at work and I have all of these meetings. I didn't it on purpose if that's what you're getting at!"

"I didn't say that. All I'm saying is that there is gonna be a lot of men at this thing and I trust Olivia, I just don't trust these guys"

"Alright I'll call fin-"

"I don't want you to call fin I want you to go there be with your girlfriend on Christmas Eve because she wants you there."

"I can't be there Kevin. I gotta go!" The both hung you the phone aggressively. He sent Edgar a text 'you can at least invite her over for Christmas!' Morgan walked in "what was that all about?"

"Edgar being an ass. He knew he was supposed to go with her tonight but, you're gonna love this... he can't be there because he has to work. All that time Olivia was with him she had to work but she didn't care. She was by his side everyday! He's just being a real ass right now."

"Okay don't let that spoil you Christmas Eve. Come on we're decorate the cookies." She grabbed his hand and they went down. Stairs.

Olivia has now arrived at the dinner. She was Escorted to the chiefs and captains table. But she saw SVU table and she wanted to sit over there with her friend. Not with these 50 year old, wifeless, men.

"Hello Olivia." It was William Dodds she hadn't seen him in a month or so. Ever since she was captain.

"Hey chief!" She gave him a hug.

"How have you been."

"I've been pretty good how about you, how's your new place treating you?"

"It's definitely not as exciting as SVU, like case wise not many of them take much investigation."

"Mhmm."

"So anything new?"

"I guess you could say so..." she picked up her phone and showed Dodds her lock screen it was a picture of her and Edgar from their first date. When they were dancing.

"Oh does he have a broken leg? Is he here?

"Not exactly but he is in a boot and crutches. And no he couldn't come tonight. Do you know him?"

"No he's just standing behind you." Olivia turned around and there he was.

"You're here! You're here?" Before Edgar could speak Dodds excused himself seeing that Olivia had he eyes on Edgar.

"Yes Kevin talked some sense into me. And I had to be here with you." She kissed him. And every man that wanted to get with her tonight was shut down. She loves Edgar and she doesn't want any of these men anyway.

"Come on I wanna sit with SVU." She walked slowly so that Edgar could keep up. They got there and Olivia helped him into his seat and everyone greeted each other. Edgar whispered in her ear "I like this dress, I'm glad I chose it."

"You almost didn't get the chance to see it you weren't gonna be here remember?" She would never let him forget that.

"You guys know it's rude to whisper a the table right with other people?" Rollins jokingly spoke. "So Edgar how have you been?"

"I've been good I have to wear my boot for 4-6 months then whenever I get out of the boot I have PT."

"Glad you're doing better man." Fin said. An hour or so, had passed by and they clicked their glasses to get everyone's attention it was time to award the Medal of Honor. They never liked to watch this because some lousy guy always won and it pissed them off. But they wanted to see who got it this year before they all left. The chief of police started talking. "I would like to present this Medal of Honor to someone who do deservingly deserves it. But this person has come into more dangerous people to last a lifetime. But through it all they survived and persevered. They are one of the most important people in the NYPD and to the NYPD. This person puts everyone and everything because themself, sometime you have to remind them to slow down. I really don't understand how they haven't already gotten this award because they have been through hell and back too many times and the have saved the lives of many so this year I would like to award the Medal of Honor to Captain Olivia Benson." The crowd stood up and applauded Olivia.

Olivia turned around and was in complete shock. She didn't know she was even a contender for this award. She got up kissed and hugged Edgar, the gave hugs to everyone at the table. She walked up to the stage and the applause ended. She was handed a box with her medal in it. And a plaque. The chief gave her the mic she really didn't want to give a speech but she had to. "Uhhh I don't even know where to start. But yeah guys, come on how come I have got it yet until now?" The crowd erupted in laughter. "It's all jokes, all jokes. But thank you to all of you out there throughout the years who have stuck with me and been by my side. Everyone who has help me in life, to be a better person made me who I am. And for the bad guys too. They showed me how strong I am and how much of a badass I truly am." More laughter from the crowd. "But this truly is a blessing I want to thank Chief Garland and Chief Dodds for all of your support through the years. I want to thank the best and baddest squad out there, you guys are my family and without you guys..." she started to get choked up. "I probably wouldn't have made it out all of those times. So I really thank you guys. And thank you to my boyfriend Edgar... you're too good to be true and I love you. Thank you for staying with me even with everything." The crowd awed "Thank you!"

They gave her another standing ovation as she made her way back down the stairs to her table. The even was over now. Everyone basically leaves after finding out who won the Medal of Honor.

"Congrats Liv!" The squad shouted.

"Congratulations baby!" Edgar kissed her.

"Thank you guys. But I'm ready to go home and be with Noah."

"Yeah gotta get home to my babies too!" Amanda agreed. The six of them rounded their things together and went there separate ways.

"Let's go to your apartment." Edgar told her.

"Okay!" Twenty minutes later the made it to Olivia's apartment and when she opened the door, walked in, she immediately saw that all of the presents that were under the tree were gone. "What the hell?" She groaned. Then started snapping off to anyone who was listening.

"Okay, okay! Liv calm down. I sent a text to my dad asking if he could get the presents and take them to my house. Christmas, my place?"

"Ohhh yeah I would really like that. Well since I want you to open on of your gifts from me. It's something me and Noah do every year. Stay here." She ran into her room and grabbed the back from her nightstand. Ran back in the living room. He unwrapped the paper "You remember that watch you liked in that magazine at the hospital well they didn't have it in the color you wanted-"

"What the hell this isn't a watch." His face went through all of the facial expressions. "Wait... Ohhh! You?"

"Yes!"

"You're really... pregnant! Wow! We're having a baby? We're having a baby! That explains the throwing up and mood changes."

"I didn't have mood changes!" She hit his shoulder.

"Yeah sure you didn't." He went back to staring at the pregnancy tests. All five said positive.

"Wow you're really gonna have a baby, my baby, our baby! I'm so happy... wait are you happy do you want the baby?"

"Yes of course I want the baby. My man gave me a baby so of course I want this baby. I'm really happy too!" She started crying. He kissed her lovingly.

"Remember no mood swings." They laughed and she hit him playfully.

"Shut up. It's your fault."

"I think it takes two people." The laughter died out and it got quiet. Edgar was admiring the pregnancy test. While Olivia thought.

"What will your family think?"

"What?"

"I mean they will have to find out at some point. What will they think? We've been together only over a month and Bam! We have a baby."

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. Let me handle them. The only person who I'm slightly worried about is my mom. She has a problem with you inside of her. She had from the beginning I can tell. And she got mad at Morgan because she had AJ in college when she was 21 before she got married to Kevin."

"What about your dad?"

"He won't be very judgmental. He'll definitely ask me a question or two. But he will ecstatic and happy for us because you're having our baby!" He got excited all over again. Olivia shook her nerves a lived in the moment and let all of her joy loose.

"But about that watch... did I get it because I was really looking forward to getting it when you said it." They laughed.

"Hey I'm gonna hauling 40 extra pounds I think that is more than enough for you."

"I know... we're having a baby."

"Oh shoot I think we should start heading to your place... oh I gotta pack my bags!" She went into Noah's room first and grabbed him about weeks worth of clothes.

"I'll help you." He went in her bathroom grabbed he toiletry bag, grabbed: toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes, face wash, deodorant, body wash, and lotion.

"Hey baby! Can you grab my makeup bag!"

"I don't think you need it but whatever!"

"I do if you don't want me to look like the grinch tomorrow!"

"Yes okay." He muttered under his breath. When Olivia walked in.

"What was that?" It caught him off guard.

"What? Oh, nothing."

"That's what I thought." She laughed.

After Olivia finished packing her bags she had a lot to carry Edgar wish he could help her but in his current predicament he can't. They were heading out the door when Edgar stopped them. "We can't forget these... they are my favorite thing in world!"

"Oh and the person carrying the baby is chopped liver. I see how it is."

"You know you and Noah are my favorite people but we have another coming!" They left and were on the way to his house. It was about 10:00 he knew no one was asleep. Probably waiting for them to arrive. The whole ride Edgar stared at her stomach.

"Can I help you?"

"Oh I'm sorry I just so excited about the baby I know we can't see it yet but we are having a baby! I can't believe it! I'm gonna be a father of not one but two!"

"Wait what?"

"Noah and the baby."

"Oh right."

"What? Did you think I forgot about Noah? No way that kid's awesome, love him!"

"Okay." The rest of the way they listened to music. Surprisingly they had the same taste of music. Olivia had never actually took the time to look at his house. The only time she had been over there was when they got into that fight and she picked Noah up. But his house was huge and beautiful. She grabbed the bags and helped Edgar out the car, the knocked on the door and you heard children charging and screaming towards the door.

"Mommy!" Noah screamed.

"Olivia!" AJ and Sasha said in unison on top of Noah's 'mommy!"

"Hey guys!"

"Did you guys forget about me?"

"Edgar!" Noah shouted.

"Uncle E!" The two siblings screamed.

"Okay okay no more screaming." They all giggled.

"Okay can we get into the house guys." They walked in, locked the door and the adults were sitting on the couch watching the NBA games. Ulrich got up from the couch to help Olivia with the bags. He took them all to Edgar's room. While Olivia and Edgar moved toward the couch everyone greeted each other. Olivia and Edgar laid on the chaise piece of the sectional. So that Edgar should put his foot up to elevate while Olivia curled up under him.

Ulrich came back and sat back down next to his wife. "How was the event Edgar?" Kevin asked wondering if he ever even attended.

"It was nice actually. Olivia her was awarded the highest medal of the NYPD; the Medal of Honor, this year so I am very proud and happy for her."

"So you did end up going. Smart guy." Kevin stated. "Congratulations Olivia!"

"Thank you."

All of the kids came to the living room exhausted. Noah squeezed between Olivia and Edgar, Sasha squeezed between Dianne and Ulrich, and AJ squeezed between Kevin and Morgan. These were the moments they wished last forever. Before they knew it hours had passed, Sasha was asleep and it was Christmas. "Merry Christmas mommy and Edgar!" Noah said.

"Merry Christmas Noah!" They said together.

"Merry Christmas baby!" Edgar said to Olivia.

"Merry Christmas!" The kissed each other.

"Uhh guys I'm down here let's not do this." Noah laughed because they were kissing and he was right between them. Olivia yawned which made everyone yawn.

"I think it's time we call it a night and go to sleep." Morgan said.

"I think so too." Dianne said.

Olivia and Noah stood up so Olivia could help Edgar up and Noah grabbed his crutches. And Edgar and Olivia went to the master bedroom which was on the first floor luckily and Noah followed to get his bag to take it to the kids room. While everyone else went upstairs. After Noah left Edgar and Olivia stripped to the under garments, then locked the door. They cuddled into each other. "How are your ribs feeling?"

"They're alright I hardly feel the pain unless my crutch hits it. Sometimes it hurts to touch but I'm feeling much better."

"That's good. Well let's go to sleep and today when we get up we have gifts to open and things to do. I love you. Goodnight."

"I love you too. Goodnight baby!"
