Between a Quarry and a Hard Rock Part 3
The second part of the challenge is starting. This one is a battle of smarts and endurance. Lightning, Alejandro, and Brick on the foxes side will be competing against Sky, Shawn, and Mike of the Ferrets. Each of them will hold a pole balancing two baskets, one at each end.
Each round, a new weight must be put on one of the 6 baskets, and the holders must endure the weight and balance it. At the same time, they have to balance themselves in a hanging bridge over a long fall into the quarry. Also, more surprises await the contestants, but they will have to wait before finding out what they are.
The six holders were facing each other, some glaring, some watching, and some waving at their opponent.
"Are you the ferret's Sha-holders? Pfft! You are so puny and thin. Your three arms together are still thinner than Lightning's." Lightning said, flexing his arm.
Sky glared at him. "You'll be eating your words soon. Sportsman wanna be."
"Wannabe? YOU are calling LIGHTNING a sportsman wannabe? HA! I will crush you, shorty girl." Lightning replied, giving her a death glare.
While they fought, Alejandro looked with a bored expression at Shawn.
"You're the last season's winner, Shawn. I don't think we have been formally introduced. I'm Alejandro Burromuerto, third season runner-up," said Alejandro smiling charmingly.
"Burromuerto? Why are you giving a fake last name? What do you have to hide, Alejandro? If that is even your real name." replied Shawn, narrowing his eyes at the Spaniard.
Alejandro was taken aback, this was one of the most unexpected comebacks he ever heard, and he has been in 2 seasons of Total Drama. "What? Burromuerto is truly my family's surname and a very respected surname in my country. Why would I make that up?"
"That's exactly how someone using a fake last name would reply," said the conspiranoic shrugging and still narrowing his eyes at the Archvillain.
And lastly, Brick was facing Mike.
"And how are you doing in the ferrets?" Asked the Cadet with a nostalgic expression.
Mike smiled, showing the gap on his teeth. "Great, actually. They are kind and friendly. Toph, Draman, and Amy especially have been helping me a lot. And you? How is it going with the Foxes?"
"Very well, actually. Zoey has been taking care of me. She is such a nice girl," said Brick, Mike looking at him with wide eyes.
The soldier blushed and panicked. "I mean as friends. She is taking care of me as friends. I would never touch her, and she misses you every day."
"Hehehe, don't worry, of course, I understood you. I was only pulling your leg," said Mike rubbing his arm.
Then both men laughed together, but the laughs sounded fake and awkward.
Thankfully for the six, Chris interrupted them to start the challenge.
"So, they choose quite the line up from the foxes. But we're missing our resident delinquent. Did you get cold feet?" said Chris mocking at Duncan.
But the punk smirked and flipped him the bird. "Bite me, McLean."
The host glared back at him. "C'mon dude, remember we are looking for a G rating. Anyway, if you wanted to run away, I'll not judge you. And on the ferret's side, we have-"
In that instant, Chris was about to make a joke about the short Sky doing the challenge. But after looking at the Cree girl's eyes, he knew that this joke would not get an amusing reply as he hoped, but something that would be censored by the network. So he stepped back.
"As I was saying, good selection, it seems like we have a close competition here." Sky's face beamed at Chris' remark. "Now as both teams lost, both will have the penalty. Instead of holding the light pole, you will hold this 15kg(33lbs) pole as part of the challenge. So hurry, grab your poles and take your position on the hanging bridge."
The six contestants took the heavy poles and walked on the bridge of their color. The Foxes were in the red one and Ferrets in the green one. As Mike stepped on the bridge, it began to move wildly.
The thin guy gulped and began to advance with caution, Brick in the opposite bridge imitated him. Then Sky and Lightning stepped on the bridge, the red one began to shake so hard that the Cadet almost fell into the pit.
"HEY! Be careful Lightning, this bridge is unsteady," shouted Brick, crouching on the bridge to try to maintain the balance and not fall.
"Yes, you JERK! I know you are a jock, but try to think for a change!" Shouted Amy, who was glaring at the athlete
An awkward silence formed around the older twin, and most of her teammates looked at her with wide eyes.
Amy blushed and glared at her companions. "What? Brush-head used to be on our team. It's only a courtesy." She then folded her arms and turned her face.
As the 6 holders were in their positions, the copter (that was a red chopper distinct from the chopper of shame) left Beth and Lilly on the top of the quarry. Both girls looked ashamed and were walking slowly with their eyes pointing at the ground.
"Well done, Beth, thanks to you, we lost the advantage," said Heather, scowling at the glasses girl.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what happened, but I couldn't climb the rope. It was so slippery. I'm not sure what happened," replied Beth, the corners of her mouth turned down.
The Queen Bee smirked, "Then just pray we don't lose this challenge, or you know who is going home tonight."
Beth was angry and wished to respond to Heather's provocation, but she was also frustrated by her failure, so she only kept quiet and went to sit with Duncan and Zoey.
"Mike! Good Luck! Don't worry, you already have it in your pocket!" shouted Zoey enthusiastically.
Duncan raised an extreme of his unibrow, narrowing his eyes at the Indie girl. "Red, you're cheering for our opponents! He's on the other team, remember?"
Zoey put her tongue out and winked. "Sorry, I will be forever on team Mike. But believe even if I cheer for him, I want our team to win the challenge."
"Whatever," replied the delinquent, and then turned his face to Courtney, who was at the farthest point from him, near Heather. But before he could decide if he should go and talk with her, Beth sat at his side.
"Once we eliminate Lightning, we need to take care of Heather." Said Beth, pouting, "She really hates my guts."
The delinquent shook his head and replied in a lower voice. "Alejandro is more dangerous. We cannot let him reach the merge."
"Bu-But he may have changed. He is now more polite and earnest. He even warned Lightning about not pursuing Linds, but he didn't listen to him," said Beth twiddling her fingers.
Duncan sighed. He put his hand in his pocket to take a cigar, but at the last moment, he remembered he couldn't smoke right now. So he just shrugged. "We can talk about it after eliminating the Sha-Idiot."
The girl with glasses nodded joyfully. She needed to make her mind soon about Duncan and Alejandro, because it seemed like Duncan was already jealous of the Latin guy.
Confessional: Duncan
Duncan took a puff from his cigar, smirking. "Red is crazy for Mike and Beth fell hard in the web of Al. So I'm again in an alliance with a person in love. I need to be careful, or it will end like the last time. Why are people in love so hard to deal with?" He then put out his cigar on his tongue. "Whatever it's not like I of all people can say anything about them."
On the other side, Lilly was walking and humming joyfully.
"Why are you so happy?" asked Amy, glaring at her friend. "We've been waiting for more than an hour for you to end the damn challenge."
The tree hugger pressed her lips together before replying timidly at the older twin. "Well, I-, I could go down the rope. And then I didn't need to climb back. So I was happy because today was my second luckiest day since starting the show." She then made an honest and wide smile.
"I don't know if you are like this naturally or you study to be like this," said Amy rolling her eyes. "Anyway, that loser of my sister can use this to try to vote us out. So we need to prepare a plan."
Lilly nodded wildly, but she was unsure what kind of plan they could prepare in such a short time.
Confessional: Amy
Amy was sitting with her arms folded and glaring at the camera. "I know Lilly can be a klutz and is useless most of the time, more than Samey. But at least she's loyal. It's sad when you can trust a stranger more than the sister you've known since before birth."
Chris left a moment for Beth and Lilly to join their teammates and cause some Drama before starting the challenge. "Before we get started, remember, anyone from the team can put the stones and metallic balls in the baskets. If the holder lets go of the pole or drop the content, they are out, and their team receives a penalty. The team that lasts longer is the winner."
The host enjoyed the tense atmosphere between the six holders, as they were holding the heavy poles on their shoulders."Lastly, both teams must place the stones at the same time. If we catch a team deliberately wasting time, we will put a special ball in one of the baskets. And believe me, you don't want to find out what this special ball is."
"The challenge starts NOW. Begin moving those rocks," shouted Chris, smiling. Both teams began to move.
On the ferrets' side, they were glad that the foxes' rocks were not as big as they expected.
"Look at this. They even brought rocks as small as this," said Topher holding a fist-like rock. "Let's arrange them in order of weight, beginning with the lightest. Sammy, can you put this one in Sky's basket?"
"Why Samey and not me?" asked Amy, glaring at him.
Sammy rolled her eyes. "You can go, I-"
"Shut up, SAMEY, nobody talked to you," Amy shouted at her sister. Sammy just shrugged and ignored her.
"You can do it instead of her. In fact, it would be better if all of us took turns carrying the stones to their baskets," Topher said, trying to mediate between the sisters.
Amy rubbed her chin. "You know something? You're right. Let Samey carry the first rocks. That way, she will have a lower chance of messing up the challenge."
"As always, thanks for the vote of confidence, A-M-Y," said Sammy in a snarky tone. She then put out her tongue as soon as her sister turned away and ran with the rock in hand.
The younger twin put the rock in Sky's left basket. The Cree girl raised an eyebrow after looking at the rock. "Sammy, is this a joke?
"N-no, I mean, we need to take care of the lighter rocks first," said Sammy, not understanding why Sky was angry.
The gymnast sighed. "I am as strong as Shawn or Mike, so bring me the heavy rocks, I can endure as much weight as them. Don't be considerate only because they are taller." Sammy felt a shiver run down her spine as the Cree girl glared at her.
"Ok, but don't blame later." Said Sammy running back to the bridge. "Why is that everyone is getting angry with me today?"
On the foxes' side, Courtney was trying to organize the rocks that the ferrets carried from the quarry.
"I'm surprised, in general, they brought better stones than us. The challenge will be tricky, even if we have better holders."
Heather glared at her opponents. "Courtney, stop admiring the enemy. We should hurry before that clown starts penalizing us."
"All right, all right. Let's get started. Let's begin with this rock," said Courtney holding a stone as big as a soccer ball, but someone else took it from her hands.
"Let me do it. Princess," said Duncan, walking to the bridge. "Only tell me in which basket to put it."
The Latin girl put her hands on her hips. "I don't need your help. I'm strong enough to carry it."
"I know. I am just trying to be kind for once. So can you let me help on OUR challenge?" said Duncan, smirking.
"Ok, you're right. Put that in one of Lightning's baskets." Said Courtney in a more soft tone.
The delinquent carried the rock away, while the Queen Bee looked at him.
"You know he is plotting something, right?" told Heather to Courtney, without taking her eyes from Duncan.
"Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Why are you so interested anyway?" replied the L.I.T.(Lawyer in Training) intrigued by Heather insistence.
The Queen Bee looked at her with wide eyes, putting a hand over her own chest. "I'm not interested. I'm just worried about you as my friend. After all, you know better than anyone how cunning that green-haired punk really is."
"I don't remember us being friends," said Courtney folding her arms. "But thanks anyway, I will keep it in mind."
"I hope so. I would hate seeing Duncan hurt you again," said Heather turning her back at her, twisting her mouth as she went away to talk with Cody.
Meanwhile, Duncan put the rock on Lightning's right basket, the stone made the jock tilt to the side.
"Please, try to don't lose with the first stone," said Duncan, narrowing his eyes at the athlete.
Lightning huffed. "Lightning was just adjusting the weight of this pole to get more comfortable. You need more than a puny rock to beat the Lightning."
"Whatever. Just try to don't get beaten by that small girl," said Duncan in a low voice, pointing at Sky with his thumb.
Lightning laughed and said in a loud voice. "There is no way that shorty girl can beat the Lightning. Maybe in some years when she grows up."
The jock was so loud that all the quarry heard him. The Cree girl especially gave him a death glare.
Confessional: Lightning
"This is Lightning's kind of challenge. Well, all the athletic challenges are Lightning's kind of challenge. After all, nobody can beat these babies." Said Lightning, flexing and showing his biceps. "Now Lightning just has to beat the shorty girl, the hobo, and that goofy Mike. Piece of cake."
After the first rounds, the holders began to show fatigue. On the foxes side, Lightning had most of the rocks, while Alejandro and Brick had fewer.
"This is harder than I thought," said Brick, who had some problem with the pole. He couldn't find a comfortable position to hold it.
The jock laughed at him. "Are you already whimpering Brick? It doesn't surprise Lighting. You have always been a big crybaby."
"That's a lie," said Brick, shifting the weight from one shoulder to the other. "I was polite, and sometimes cautious, but never a coward." Brick then faced the ground and added under his breath. "At least if it's not dark."
Alejandro rolled his eyes. "Can you stop bickering? This is hard enough to endure without you shouting at each other." The Spaniard said, using his arms to ease the strain on his back.
On the other bridge, the situation was not better.
"Hey, Sky. Are you ok?" said Mike, while lifting the pole a little to rest his shoulders.
The Cree girl looked at him frowning, she had her knees a little bent and lowered her hip. "I am perfectly fine. You should worry about yourself before worrying about others."
Mike looked at her, disconcerted, "Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I was asking because the pole is hurting my backbone. I think it's one of the problems of being so thin."
"I'm sorry. I overreacted." Said the Cree girl looking ashamed at the ground. She was just angry because it seemed like everyone underestimated her, and took it against Mike. "Thanks for your concern. Shawn, how are you doing?"
"Don't worry about me. I have been training like these for the apocalypses. You never know when you will have to stand for hours hiding on a locker or a closet while the undead are searching for you." said Shawn smiling confidently, shifting the weight of the pole from one shoulder to the other.
The thin guy raised an eyebrow. "Can't the zombies just smell you if you are hiding in a locker nearby?"
The conspiranoic looked at Mike with wide eyes before making a big grin. "That's an excellent question. There is a big debate about if zombies can smell or not. After all, to smell, you need to dissolve the odor molecules in the mucous membrane inside the nose. But the zombies don't produce mucus so-"
"Shawn, I hate to interrupt you because the subject is really interesting," said Sky, who was beginning to feel dizzy after hearing her friend talking about mucus and zombies. "But can't you wait until the challenge is over? You know, so we can share it with Sammy."
"You are right, Sky. She also needs this knowledge to survive in the future." The conspiranoic nodded as the Cree girl sighed, relieved.
Then the players began to bring the metallic balls. Charlotte was the first to use one.
"Hey! There is a glitch in these items, the weight stats of the balls are quite different between each one of them." said the e-gamer taking 2 balls and balancing them in her hands. The one on the left hand was obviously heavier.
"Did you forget what I told you?" said Chris in a mocking tone. "The special balls you will use are slightly different in size and very different in weight to make the challenge more amusing. At least for the audience."
Charlotte ran at the bridge and put the lighter metallic ball in one of Mike's baskets. He winced as the shift in weight hurt him again.
As the e-gamer came back to her side, Amy waved at her with a smug expression. Charlotte felt her blood boiling while watching her.
Confessional: Charlotte
"I hate that evil Sammy. I can't believe she is blackmailing me. I must find a way into the main computer, discover who voted for Jasmine, and, if possible, eliminate her from the game and, assuring she doesn't get more continues." Said Charlotte hitting his palm with her fist. "After all, I'm sure Amy is one of the people who voted for her."
On the other side, Heather was the one carrying the ball, putting it in Alejandro's basket.
"Chica! Be careful. You are making the bridge shake too hard," said Alejandro looking at her with wide eyes.
The Queen Bee glared at him. "What are you saying, Alejandro? Are you insinuating that I'm heavy?"
The Spaniard rolled his eyes. "No! I'm just saying that you could be more careful when stepping on this death trap."
"Sorry for not being careful," said Heather, putting the sphere in Alejandro's basket and tossing her braid at him. "Now, I hope you win this, for your own good."
Heather then went away, swinging her hips as she walked back.
"Wait a moment? It was Lightning's turn to receive the sha-weight? Evil girl, you gave the ball to the wrong guy!" shouted Lightning while glaring at Heather.
"Shut up sha-idiot. I gave it to who I wanted," replied the Queen Bee while she kept walking.
Brick just ignored them while trying to focus on keeping his balance.
After 10 more rounds, the 6 holders continued in the game, but all of them showed signs of fatigue. Chris looked at their tired expressions and smiled.
"Wow! We have quite a fierce group here. Let's make this more interesting. Chef, it's your turn." Shouted the host while watching at the other end of the bridges.
At that moment, Chef appeared. He was scowling, dressed in a pink ballet dress with a small coronet and small wings. The campers looked at him with a mix of fear and revulsion.
"They don't pay me enough to do this," said Chef under his breath, then he adopted the ballet's fifth position (arms pointing upward), and suddenly he jumped to the foxes' bridge and then jumped again to the ferret's bridge.
The bridges trembled wildly as the big man jumped back and forth from one bridge to the other, in a grotesque imitation of ballet. The 6 holders tried to remain steady, but it seemed impossible as the structures began to oscillate wildly.
Brick was the first one to fall, pushed off the bridge by the movement, he let go of the pole and grabbed at one of the ropes with all his strength.
His companions also had problems, Alejandro kept the balance well, but Lighting almost hit him in the face with one of his baskets.
"Cuidado idiota[1]," shouted Alejandro.
"What?" said Lightning, turning around and throwing one of the baskets against Alejandro's face again.
In an instant, the Spaniard crouched, dodging the heavy basket but had to let go of his pole.
Confessional: Alejandro
"Yes, I lost the pole. But I saved my face, and that's what truly matters," said Alejandro smiling, then his expression changed to an angry frown. "But that Sha-idiot is going down."
On the ferret's side, Sky kneeled on the floor, trying to match the movement of the bridge to don't be pushed away from it. Mike also began to dance like a ballerina avoiding the worst of the shaking.
But Shawn was not so lucky, he could avoid falling from the bridge, but he accidentally hit one of the ropes that turned up his baskets, letting the content fall from the bridge.
Chris clapped at Chef's performance. "Thanks, Chef, that's enough. I think all of us will have nightmares tonight," said the host, chuckling, then he continued in a more serious tone. "Brick, Alejandro, and Shawn are out of the game. Now let's increase the load of the basket by another 10 weights."
The challenge continued with a clear disadvantage for the foxes, while the ferrets gave 5 balls to each player. The jock should have to carry the 10 balls by himself. Even then, the athlete raised his face and glared arrogantly at his opponents.
"You can get a sha-army of puny guys and shorty girls, I can beat them with a hand-tied to my back," said Lightning, lifting the pole with only one hand for a moment.
Sky glared at him, "I hope you like the taste of your words because you are about to eat them."
Mike didn't say a word. He had enough trying to keep the pole on his aching shoulders.
Two rounds later, Mike fell on his knees and put the pole down.
"Sorry, everyone, I couldn't do it," said the thin guy, sweating a lot and closing one eye.
Amy ran toward him before Zoey could react, making the ferrets' bridge tremble again.
"Don't worry, Mickey. You did your best. Now rest, and let's trust Sky can do it," said the older twin, while she helped him to stand up and took him out of the bridge.
And just like that, the challenge turned into a duel between the super jock runner up of the 4th season and the aspirant Olympic runner up of the 6th season. Even if Lightning was heavier than Sky, he was still standing straight, smiling, with only a few drops of sweat running down his forehead.
On the other hand, Sky seemed fatigued. She was sweating a lot and heavy breathing. Even if her stance distributed the weight better, after 40 rounds of gaining new weights (11 since Mike went out), the veins on her arms showed that she was closing to her limit.
"Well, aren't we stubborn? This was supposed to end in round 30. But I commend your strength and hardhead. Now instead of the metallic balls, we will use these bricks that are, of course, heavier than the metallic balls. And also are more useful and smarter than the Brick of the foxes," as Chris said that the interns give each team a small box with 10 bricks of red and green color.
On the foxes' side, Cody took one of the bricks. The weight of the small piece almost knocked him down, but he used more strength and picked it up.
"Cody, Are you ok? If it's too heavy, we can force Duncan or Al to carry them. After all, strength is their only redeemable feature," said Heather glaring at the delinquent.
Cody made a forced smile and put all his back in lifting the damn brick. "Don't worry about me, this is not as heavy as Chris said."
The brunette boy crossed half the bridge, pressing his lips and using all his will to not drop the heavy brick. But for Cody, it was important to show he was as useful to the team as the delinquent and the liar. So he walked the last steps and put it on Lightning's right basket.
Lightning body tilted to the right, but he quickly recovered and looked wide-eyed at the Codster. "Well done, scrawny boy, you are not as feeble and weak as you look."
"Thanks!" Cody replied, he wasn't sure if he meant that as a compliment or as an insult, so he decided to take it as a compliment.
On the other bridge, Dramaman was the one carrying the weight. The wrestler struggled as much as Cody to carry it, but as his face was hidden, nobody noticed it.
He put the weight carefully in the more empty basket, but as he did it, Sky almost fell, her hip as low as her knees, as if she was doing squats.
"Give up," whispered Dramaman. Sky glared at him. She wasn't sure what he was saying until he repeated it. "Just give up, there is no way you can beat him."
Sky huffed. "Shut up. I will not lose."
"You'll only hurt yourself. What about your future? Will you risk being an Olympic gymnast for a challenge on a reality show?" He said his tone was as neutral as his face.
But for the Cree girl, it sounded like an insult. "I will not lose, and I will not hurt myself. So get out of here." She also wanted to say that she didn't want to be with someone that gave up so easily, but she didn't have the strength to say it.
The wrestler nodded and went back to the other side of the bridge. Sky determination burned hotter. She will show everyone that she can do it.
Two more rounds passed, and then it ended with a crack.
To everyone's surprise, the bridge gave up at the weight of the jock.
Screams, gasps, and curses filled the air. In an instant, Lightning's feet were in the air, and he was falling into the pit.
With cat-like reflexes, the jock dropped the pole and in a quick movement, grasped to one of the ropes in the bridge, luckily only the floor and not the ropes broke down.
"What are you waiting for? Someone save him NOW." Shouted Chris looking nervous at the scene. But before the interns could react, Alejandro and Courtney were already on the bridge holding Lightning by the arms.
"You are safe, bromigo. Just help us help you," said Alejandro pulling him.
"You are lucky counselors are trained to react to emergency situations." Said Courtney pulling him.
In a moment, the three were already out of the bridge.
Huffing and puffing, the jock looked at his saviors. "Lightning didn't need your help. But sha-thanks, that was a close one."
"Great, everyone is safe," said Chris, not hiding his excitement. "*Cough* I mean, there was no danger because we have the foam in the bottom of the pit. So don't look that scared."
At the same time, Sky dropped her pole and ran out of the bridge, hugging Sammy.
"But anyway, THE FERRETS WIN! David beat Goliath, the lilliputian captured Gulliver, Napoleon beat the Austrian-" Shouted Chris in an excited tone before being interrupted.
"Can you stop that!" said Sky glaring at the host, tired of his analogies about small people.
"Spoilsport," Chris shrugged and then looked at the other team. "And Foxes, you have a date with me tonight in the campfire."
Confessional:Mike
Mike moved his neck that cracked loudly, startling him. "Ouch. It's incredible. I can't believe we won. I mean, I really wanted to win, but I can't believe we actually did it. The only problem is that I am sure my neck will hurt in the morning."
Confessional:Cody
"It was a shame, we could have won if the bridge didn't give up. But I have to admit I was rooting for Sky. I mean, you have a pretty girl giving her all against a big and muscled guy. The decision is obvious." Said Cody shrugging and winking at the camera. "But if my wishes were what broke the bridge, then Lightning, I'm sorry."
On the foxes side, Zoey, Courtney, and Lightning were together near the docks, talking about who to vote out tonight.
"You were right, Zoey. This place is wonderful. Nobody would come here before the votation," said Courtney, looking at the sunset on the lake.
"I know, right." Said Zoey, smiling sadly. "Cam was the one that had the idea."
Lightning also watched the orange waters in front of him. He usually didn't need other people. But he also knew that superstars gain games, but super teams gain championships. And these two were the best players he could find.
"Let's get to the point. Lightning needs you because there are some people he needs to sha-eliminate. And as you are the best from the team, Lightning thinks we can sha-play together." Said Lightning, flexing.
"I will hear your proposal, but before that, do you have to say 'sha' all the time?" asked Courtney, annoyed by his way of talking.
Zoey nodded, the orange sun reflecting on her eyes. "And also, who do you want to sha-eliminate tonight? Because if it's one of my sha-friends, forget it." As the redhead said that Courtney facepalmed.
"No, Lightning wants to vote for the ugly girl and then Al, Sha-bam." said the jock, his face darkening as the sun disappeared on the horizon.
"Alejandro? But I thought you were friends?" said Zoey, surprised by Lightning intentions. Courtney already suspected it when he proposed this sha-team.
"We are. But Lightning couldn't stop thinking he already knew about Lindsay's boyfriend and hid it. Also, the ugly girl wants to eliminate me. So it's her or Lightning." Explained Lightning with a cold and hurt expression on his face.
"So we are voting for Beth tonight?" said Courtney, putting a finger on her cheek.
The Indie girl looked at her with wide eyes. This was going too fast for her. "Why, Beth? I mean, I agree, but we can vote for either of them."
The L.I.T smirked, "Because she lost the first part of the challenge, so it will be easier to convince the others to vote her out."
"That's angry girl, Lightning should call you smart girl instead. Sha-bam," said Lightning, flexing again, while Courtney rolled her eyes.
"I'm not-" Courtney was about to tell him to stop calling her angry girl, but again decided to stop right there. "Forget it. Let just go and try to convince the others."
"I will talk to Brick, I am sure he'll vote with us," said Zoey, making a big smile.
The three nodded, and then Lightning and Zoey left, leaving a thoughtful Courtney alone in the docks.
Confessional: Zoey
Zoey was rubbing her arm with a nervous expression. "Maybe I shouldn't be so positive about convincing Brick. After all, he was a bit upset at Lightning after calling him a wimp during the challenge. I hope he can forgive him."
The reason behind Courtney's expression was behind the foxes' cabin. Cody and Heather were waiting for the Latin girl to talk about tonight's campfire ceremony.
"Weird, Courtney is usually the first one to arrive, and she is 10 minutes late," said Heather, arms folded and patting her foot nervously.
Cody smiled at her while leaning against the cabin. "Relax Heather, maybe she was with Zoey or Duncan, and she can't come here with them. Can she?"
"I hope you are right, as long as she is not plotting with others to betray us," said the Queen Bee biting her thumb.
"Hahaha, please, Heather. The one that usually betrays her alliances is you. I don't think you should worry about that, at least for now," said Cody, making a wide smile that showed the gap on his teeth.
"That was rude of you. I never betrayed someone that didn't deserve it." Said Heather, Cody glaring at her. "Ok, maybe I crossed some people that didn't deserve it. But right now, I will not be so stupid. You are the only ones I can trust here."
The brunette boy knew she was lying about betraying them. But also knew Heather was right. At this moment, she couldn't betray them. Zoey, Duncan, and Beth didn't trust her. Alejandro was completely out of the question, and Lightning and Brick were at least partially on Al's side. That left him and Courtney. At least until the merge, she needed them.
Just then, the sound of Courtney's steps took Cody out of his thoughts. The L.I.T was looking serious at them.
"You're late," said Heather tossing her braid.
Courtney huffed. "Sorry, I lost track of time. But anyway, there is still 1 hour before the ceremony."
"You are just in time." Said Cody, getting away from the cabin. "Anyway, we think this time we should vote for Lightning."
Courtney panicked, but if she learned something at her Law's classes, it was to hide her emotions. "I understand that he lost the challenge. But it was not his fault, and Beth also performed poorly. And in the future, I think he will be more useful than her."
The brunette boy shook his head. "But Lightning is noisy, selfish, and stupid. At least with Beth, you can trust her. And she will not insult you while you are helping her."
"I'm with Courtney on this one. I prefer to take out the farm girl. I am tired of feeling her stabbing me with her eyes all the time. How can she still resent me after all these years? That cannot be healthy." Said Heather, smirking.
"You still resent Gwen after all these years." Said Cody in a deadpan tone.
Heather's nose wrinkled, but she recovered her composure before replying. "That weird goth girl humiliated me on international tv. Cost me my beautiful hair, and she has been a pea on my shoe all these years. Understandably, I had some minor resentment toward her."
Courtney rolled her eyes. In some aspects, Heather and she were too similar. And she hated that. "Anyway, Lightning is a better asset to the team. Cody, can you at least consider it?"
"I will think about it, but I will probably vote for Lightning," explained the brunette boy.
Both girls nodded, but one of them took note of this. Maybe Cody was not as docile as she thought, and that made him dangerous.
Meanwhile, Zoey was walking toward the entrance of the woods. Her conversation with Brick was not as she expected. The Cadet decided to vote Lightning because he was a problem for the team morale.
Now she needed to meet with Duncan and Beth. How did I get involved in two alliances, and neither of them with Brick? Thought the redhead as she found Duncan and Beth already waiting for her.
"Sorry, I'm late," said the Indie girl.
Duncan shrugged. "No problem, Red. There is still enough time before the elimination."
Beth nodded. "Now that the three of us are here, I wanted to ask you something. Can we eliminate Lightning tonight?"
Zoey blanched, even if she already knew that Beth would ask them to vote for Lightning, she didn't expect she would be so straightforward. Worse of all, Zoey is a very bad liar.
"Lightning? Yes, yes, but he is like a good player, maybe we should wait to be closer to the merge or something." Said Zoey, trying to seem confident and failing miserably.
"But it's his fault Linds was eliminated. He has to pay for that," said Beth in a distressed tone.
Duncan looked at Zoey and then at Beth. "But Red is right, Beth. Are you sure we have enough votes to get rid of the sha-idiot? I don't want to waste our 3 votes."
"Yes, at least Alejandro will also vote with us. Ups" Beth said nonchalantly, covering her mouth after realizing she shouldn't say that.
"Alejandro will? I thought they were allies?" said Zoey. She knew that Lightning was against Alejandro, but not that Alejandro was also against Lightning.
The delinquent leaned toward the brunette girl, looking into her eyes. "Red is right, how is that you are so sure Alejandro will vote with us?"
"Be-Because I, I hear him talking about it wiiiith, BRICK! Yes, he was talking with Brick about voting him out, and I overheard them," lied Beth, she wanted to keep her alliance with Alejandro a secret.
Zoey then realized that maybe Brick's decision to vote Lighting was Alejandro's fault. That snake. "But anyway, we could vote for someone else. I mean, with our 3 votes, we can go for Alejandro instead. I am sure Heather and Courtney would help us."
"NOOOO!" shouted Beth. She then blushed and continued. "I mean Alejandro is an asset, and I want to make Lightning pay for Linds."
"Sorry Red. I also think Sha-idiot is the best option. Let's go with that," said Duncan, "I know he is your acquaintance from the Revenge season, but someone must go."
Zoey just nodded. It was a lost cause. She hoped that Courtney had better luck. How did Scott and the other villains get votes so easily, and she couldn't get even a single vote against Beth?
Confessional: Beth
"Uff! That was a close one. I hope Zoey and Duncan didn't discover that I am in an alliance with Alejandro. Especially Duncan, at least until I straight out my feelings for one or the other. I am such a sinful woman!" said Beth blushing and covering both cheeks with her hands.
The nine foxes were already sitting on the stumps at the campfire ceremony. Heather and Lightning sitting on the opposite side of Beth and Alejandro. There was a heavy atmosphere that the host was enjoying.
"Welcome, foxes. Tonight I am surprised to meet you here. This was one of the closest challenges I have seen in my career," said Chris smiling at them, with a tray with 8 marshmallows in his hand.
"It was your lousy build bridge that cost us the challenge," reproached Heather while scowling at the host.
"Don't give me excuses. You know the rules, and probably getting so much weight on one player was not a good idea. Anyway, you know about this. I have 8 marshmallows for 8 players. The last one has a flight on the chopper of shame ready and can't come back to this island FOREVER." Chris said while looking at the faces of the foxes.
"Then let's hurry up. Let's get on with this," said Alejandro standing up before going to vote.
"It's a shame you cannot enjoy the moment," said Chris shaking his head.
"Then please start going into the voting cabin and vote for the camper you want to send away."
The 8 foxes followed Alejandro. Some still with doubts in their hearts.
Vote confessional: Alejandro
"Sorry bromigo. But right now, Beth is a better asset than you. Please tell Lindsay hi for me." Said the Spaniard while making his choice on the tablet.
Vote confessional: Zoey
"Ugh. I don't know which one I should vote for. Should I listen to Duncan or to Courtney? I hope they don't hate me for this." Zoey closed her eyes as she cast her vote.
Vote confessional: Heather
"This is so wonderful. If Beth is voted out, I win, but if it's Lightning, I also win. This is my kind of elimination." The Queen Bee said as she pressed her choice on the tablet.
"Your decision was made. And I have to say that you bore me. The ferrets are a lot crazier than you on their eliminations. But anyway, let's get started." Chris said, shrugging.
The Host began to throw the marshmallows to the campers. "The next players are still in the game. Alejandro, Duncan, Zoey, and Cody." The four caught their marshmallows, Zoey being the only one frowning nervously.
"Courtney, Brick, and Heather. You are also safe." Said Chris throwing the treats to the campers.
Then only one marshmallow remained. Chris smiled at both campers. "And the last one is between Lightning and Beth. Lightning, you lost the challenge for your team, and even if it was not your fault, your team doesn't care. Beth, you were the worst at the challenge, and your failure cost your team the advantage."
The Jock and the Wannabe glared at each other. Only one would remain on the island after this.
"And tonight the last marshmallow is for. . ."

"Beth."
Beth jumped joyfully while catching the marshmallow. Lightning huffed and stood up.
"You are a team of losers. It's only natural you choose this SHA-LOSER instead of me. I will be waiting for you on the losers side. Sha-Bam," said Lightning posing.
"You are the loser! You never thought about the feelings of the others. And you voted out Lindsay. You are the true loser here." Said Beth pointing at him.
Lightning glared at her and ignored the brunette girl. "Let's finish this."
He then walked to the dock, being followed by Zoey, Courtney, and Alejandro. Lightning took the vest of failure and put it, the small vest being too tight for the big man.
"Team Lightning, Lightning hopes one of you can win this game." Said Lightning smiling at Zoey and Courtney. "And Alejandro, I will be waiting for you."
"My amigo, believe me, I did all with the best intentions," said Alejandro looking at his former ally.
"Ha, Lightning is not stupid. Al's best intentions were only for Al." as Lightning said that the chopper of shame picked him up, The body of the jock hitting and breaking one of the dock's pilings on the way.
Courtney and Zoey looked at the Spaniard, his face neutral as the chopper carried Lightning away. If he felt happy or sad, only Alejandro himself knew it.
Chris chuckled at the scene. "Now the foxes eliminated his best competitor, but the Drama doesn't stop here. What will happen next in the triangle between Beth, Duncan, and Alejandro? Does it even exist? And will Cody alliance be ok after he went against them? And the security foam at the bottom of the quarry works or not? These questions may or may not be answered on the next episode, but find it yourselves. This is Total Drama: Tyranny of the Masses.
Author Notes:
[1] Cuidado Idiota: Watch out, Idiot!
And Lightning is out of the competition, but the Drama is still there. What is Alejandro's planning? Is he still a schemer, or is it really coincidence? What will happen between Sky and Dramaman after their dispute? And what will happen with Heather Alliance? Find out in the next chapter.
As the episodes advance is always harder to eliminate some characters and was the case with Lightning. He is a great character as he can play comedy, drama, protagonist, or antagonist. But at the end of each challenge, someone had to be eliminated, and it was his turn.
