Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Researcher Romance. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon, Nintendo and a few others.

Sonia turned to look at Jack as his Toxicroak slowly walked around the room.

"So, nobody in the other regions was interested in the job?" Jack asked while he hummed. Toxicroak slowly walked over to his owner.

"You'd be surprised by how many people didn't want to be a professor's assistant." Sonia put in which made Jack hum and nod. "I don't know why. They don't have to give up Pokémon ba…." Sonia started to say only for Jack to hold up a finger.

"Please don't say that word." Jack said and patted his belt. "Trust me. I love the guy; he's been my first Pokémon… But he doesn't know when enough is enough." Jack said before he sighed and rubbed his temples.

"Reminds me of my old friend." Sonia said and leaned on the wall next to her. "So, if I can ask? Where are you from? Toxicroak is native to a few regions…" Sonia said while Jack chuckled with amusement.

"Sinnoh if I'm honest." Jack put in and watched Sonia's eyes widen. "I wanted to travel around the other regions. There's actually a few Pokémon I wanted to study. I can add that blue bird Pokémon I saw on the boat to the list now." Jack added as Sonia brought a manicured nail to her chin.

"Blue bird Pokémon?" Sonia questioned while the professor racked her brain for answers. "OH, a Rookidee! Their quite common to Galar, actually." Sonia stated which made Jack hum.

"Well, I can add a Rookidee to the list of Pokémon I want to travel around with." Jack stated and looked at Toxicroak. "I had an old team of Pokémon… But I didn't want to drag them around if they didn't want to… Toxicroak was the only Pokémon who wanted to come with me. While I might not like how much he enjoys combat? Golem's also been with me since I was a kid." Jack put in and cracked his fingers.

"You raised him?" Sonia questioned as she walked over. Jack blinked before taking the Pokeball off his belt.

"Yeah, since he was a Geodude." Jack responded before he tapped the ball. Golem popped out of the ball.

"Gol!" Golem roared while the Pokémon looked around the room .

"Careful." Jack warned while crossing his arms. "He's very fight happy. Trust me, you have no idea why I keep putting him back in his Pokeball." Jack added before he hummed with amusement.

"Gol!" Golem roared before Sonia bent down to the Pokémon and hummed. She ran a hand over its head.

Jack watched with annoyance as Golem slowly settled into the palm of her hand. It made him more annoyed then anything.

"Way to prove me wrong, traitor." Jack muttered as Sonia giggled and tapped his head.

"Golem are very stubborn Pokémon." Sonia put in before she turned to look at Jack. "Trust me, I doubt he dislikes you. He just wants to challenge Pokémon to prove how powerful he is." Sonia added and then stood up.

"Maybe, but it doesn't mean he has to do it all the time." Jack responded before he remembered something.

"You said you had your own Pokémon, right?" Jack questioned and crossed his arms. "Where are they? I thought that you'd be carrying them around with you? Most carry them around." Jack put in which caused Sonia to smile and rub at her head.

"That's a good question." Sonia put in which caused Jack to blink with surprise. "My Yamper is busy sleeping." Sonia added which made Jack raise an eyebrow.

"Yamper?" Jack questioned and hummed as he walked to one of the chairs in the room.

It made Sonia remember that Jack hadn't exactly found any Pokémon in this location. It wasn't like she could explain every Pokémon in this area.

"Yamper is an electric type Pokémon native to Galar." Sonia said which made Jack hum and nod.

"Ah, that makes more sense." Jack put in and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "Still? I thought you'd have them. I don't really care to leave my Pokémon out of their balls where something could happen to them, you know." Jack said and sighed before humming.

He didn't really know what to say at the moment. Jack hadn't prepared for finding the person who he had planned on talking to in the first place.

"Well maybe we could go and see him." Sonia put in which made Jack hummed and nodded and then turned around.

"Whatever floats your boat." Jack put in and cracked his fingers. "Hopefully its as cool when we get over to them. I've never met a Yamper before. Kinda looking forward to it when we find them." Jack added with a hum as he looked over his shoulder.

Jack followed after her and put in a slight smile while he looked around the lab.
