More than quite famous Part 1
Last time on Total Drama, Tyranny of the Masses, we put our campers to work in the quarry. Climbing down the pit, collecting rocks, and climbing back until Beth and Lilly couldn't climb back again. They did it so badly that we had to cancel the first part of the challenge. Worst performance EVER.
But that was not the only thing that was canceled. Thanks to some low-cost materials from a company we will never hire again. The foxes lost the challenge of balancing rocks against the ferrets. And the big jock Lightning got canceled from the show. Who will be canceled this time? Find out next on another thrilling episode of Total Drama, Tyranny of the masses.
It was the morning after Lightning's elimination. Sky woke up early. She usually was the first one to get out of the bed from the ferret's girls, except for occasionally Lilly. The Cree girl learned to wake up before sunrise from her mother, which was useful for her and her older sister in their training as gymnasts.
Her whole body was sore after yesterday's challenge, but the victory was enough to put a smile on her face. She showed all of them what she was made of.
She went out of the cabin, took a quick shower, and went out to practice. The Cree girl did some warm-ups and then some exercises to maintain her condition and her elasticity. Sky can't practice her routines on the uneven floor of the island, but at least she can keep her condition.
Then, on any other day, she would go to the woods, converse a little with Dramaman or Shawn, and then go to the mountains to explore the island. But today, she was not in the mood to see the wrestler, so she went to the mess hall instead to eat her breakfast.
Inside the place, she was surprised to find Sammy. The cheerleader was alone on the ferrets' table, while Courtney and Zoey were eating on the other table.
"What are you doing here?" Sky asked Sammy. She had supposed the twin would be training with Shawn.
Sammy waved happily at her. "Hello, Sky. Shawn woke up with a terrible pain in his back, so he went to the infirmary. I came back to have breakfast. And you? What are you doing here? Usually, at this hour, you are jogging around the mountain."
"I was hungry and came to eat breakfast," Sky lied, but at least the bad food would be more enjoyable with Sammy's company.
But as Sky took her seat with her tray, someone interrupted them.
"Today the mess hall is almost empty. Do you mind if we sit on your table?" asked Zoey, with a frowning Courtney just standing behind her.
I know where this is going. If we become friends, it will be harder to beat them on the challenges and vote them off after the merge. It's better to just say no. Thought the Cree girl.
"Of course, there are a lot of free seats." Replied Sammy before Sky had the chance to open her mouth. The gymnast just hit her head against the table.
"Are you ok?" asked Courtney, raising an eyebrow.
Sky answered without raising her head. "Yes, I just slipped."
The two foxes sat and began to talk with Sky and Sammy, exactly what the gymnast wanted to avoid.
"I can't believe we've been here for 2 weeks already. Time surely flies." Said Zoey smiling at them.
The Cree girl took a deep breath. If there was no way out of this, she should at least enjoy it. "Yes, it seemed it was yesterday when I was called by the network with the proposal to come back for a new season."
"Yes. That evil Chris McLean told me that Amy would not compete this season. That was unfair and unnecessary. I would come back either way. After all, I wanted to meet Jasmine and Shawn. And it was a good chance to show how much I've grown." Said Sammy, then she looked at the girls with curiosity. "Why did you come back for this season?"
Sky and Courtney winced at the question. Fortunately for them, Zoey was here to answer first.
"For me, Mike and Cam, Total Drama is a special show. Here we meet, we become friends, and Mike and I began our relationship. Before the show, I didn't have friends. I was cowardly and insecure. So when Chris invited the three of us, it was a no brainer. And this is the chance for Mike to win his season." Zoey smiled tenderly as she ate her orange salad.
Sammy looked at her eggs and then at Sky and Courtney's green slob. "Do you want a little?"
Sky grateful took a bite of Sammy breakfast while Courtney politely declined, taking half an orange from Zoey's salad instead.
The former C.I.T then answered the question, to Sky's dismay. The gymnast hoped they had forgotten about that. "I came back because I had a contractual obligation. Anyway, I also expected to use this chance to talk with an old friend, but she was not in this season."
"It was Gwen?" asked Zoey, her eyes sparkling.
Courtney smiled. She had already told them enough. It was a good chance to tease Zoey a little. "That isn't relevant. What about you, Sky?"
I could not say that Chris promised me to tell me what happened to Dave if I came back. It's too embarrassing. Thought the Cree girl, then she had an idea.
"I came back to win the million dollars. I was so close last time that I wanted to take a shot again for the money. That would make my dream of becoming an Olympic athlete easier." Said Sky showing a big grin on her face. She was so proud of her answer.
Courtney smirked and decided to tease the Cree girl. "Wow, you're saying that you will beat Zoey and me here. I like your attitude."
"I didn't want to sound arrogant. But, everyone came here thinking they will win the money, no?" replied Sky, blushing. She really didn't mean it like that.
The rest of the girls laughed. "Don't get flustered. I was only pulling your leg." Said Courtney smiling. "You are right, every one of us came here to win the money and to do our best to achieve that. Just don't lose your focus."
The Cree girl nodded. Just now, she had everything except focus, but Courtney was right. She just had to do her best. Maybe taking breakfast with them was not a bad idea after all.
Confessional: Sammy
Sammy was frowning sadly at the camera. "I am so envious of everyone. I don't believe I can win the prize money. I mean, of course, I would love to win the million. But there are a lot of awesome competitors here. Beating my sister is more than enough of a goal for me."
The day continued, and after lunch, a pair of foxes were enjoying the afternoon, playing a friendly game of poker on the tables near the dock.
"Pair of queens and a pair of aces, I win again." Said Heather grinning. "Right now, you owe me 91 dollars. Are you sure you want to keep playing?"
Cody groaned and then began to shuffle the cards again. "Just one more game. My luck is changing, I just feel it."
"As you wish, soon you will have to give me the million if you win it." Said Heather chuckling. "You know poker is not about luck, right? It's a battle of wits between the players. A liar game where you have to read the others and lie better than them."
"That's a pretty negative way to describe poker," said Cody, raising an eyebrow. "But you are right that in the game, there is a powerful psychological aspect."
Heather chuckled and tossed her braid. "My teacher told me that he'd never met someone that learned how to read others so quickly."
"Do you have a poker teacher?" said Cody surprised, he never knew she liked poker so much.
"Of course not. Are you stupid?" said the Queen Bee, raising her nose. "He was my teacher in-" at that moment, Heather realized that she was so euphoric for her wins on the game and started talking too much, it was better to lie and change the subject.
"It was my teacher at the university, in the debate club," she lied, it was not a great lie, but it should be enough.
Cody raised an eyebrow. "You were in the debate club at the university? And they taught you how to play poker? Really?"
"You know girls hate guys that ask too many questions, right?" said Heather scowling at the brunette guy.
"Hehe, sorry, but as Albert Einstein said, The important thing is not to stop questioning," said Cody grinning proudly.
After a moment of awkward silence, Heather said, scowling. "That was too geekish, even for you. Congratulations, you surpassed my expectations. I only hope it's not contagious." Shaking off her shoulders toward him.
"Ouch, that was harsh," replied the boy, and both laughed.
Cody then shuffled and dealt the cards. After seeing her cards, Heather was grinning. "Give me two more cards."
The brunette boy had a pair of 10, and Heather grinning like that meant she had a good hand. But again, she learned how to play mind games on poker, so this was a trap. She surely didn't have a good hand.
"Bet," said Heather, tossing her braid, putting 5 dollars down.
Cody smirked. It was too obvious she didn't have a hand. She was too twisted, "Raise, 10 dollars," he replied.
Heather narrowed her eyes at him. "Call, your ten."
This was his hand. "Call. A pair of tens." Said the Codster triumphantly.
"Cody, you are too predictable," said the Queen Bee, laughing. "4 of a kind, I win again. You now owe me 104 dollars."
The brunette guy groaned again. It was a double trap. She was smiling to make him think she was acting when she actually had a good hand. "Just one more game."
"Sorry, as much as I would love to beat you some more, I have some business to attend. See you later." Said Heather standing up and going in the direction of the cabins.
"See you later." Replied Cody. He stood there, shuffling the cards when he saw someone walking near the tables. It was Beth.
Cody waved at her. The brunette girl smiled and ran to the table, seating across Cody, in the place Heather was just moments before.
"Hello Cody, How are you?" said Beth with a big smile that showed her white teeth.
"Hi, Beth. Well, I lost like 30 bucks in one hour. Despite that, I am fine, thanks," replied the brunette guy.
Beth pouted, not looking at his eyes. "That is just because you keep hanging with Heather. Don't you see she is just using you?"
The Codster sighed. "Maybe. I know what Heather did to you was terrible. But with me, she has been pretty nice."
"Then I have bad news for you. Because Heather is gonna be eliminated next time we lose," said the brunette girl folding her arms and turning her face.
"You can't be so sure. We may win tomorrow's challenge. And even if we lose, there are other people that we can vote off the show." Said Cody, he was starting to practice some shuffling techniques while talking with Beth.
She smiled confidently. "I have 4 votes. I just need 1 extra vote, and we can surely say goodbye to that evil and bossy meanie."
"Are you allied with Alejandro?" said Cody, raising an eyebrow. "Wow! And you just warned me that Heather was using me," he then shook his head in disappointment.
"HEY! Alejandro is not so bad. He has changed a lot since the last season. He's polite, kind, and supported me a lot after Linds was eliminated," replied Beth hitting the table with both hands.
Cody put his hand in front of him in a defensive gesture. "Take it easy. I was just saying that he was the most treacherous and manipulative contestant in Total Drama history. I don't know if he has changed, but you should be careful to not be playing into his hands."
"That is so hypocritical of you, Cody! I can't believe you defend Heather but attack Alejandro. I thought you were different," said Beth, offended by Cody's warning.
The brunette guy just looked at her go away fuming. After considering following her, he decided to just let her go.
Confessional: Cody
Cody is rubbing his neck and smiling sadly. "Am I a hypocrite? Maybe I am. But I just can't believe that Alejandro changed. Especially after breaking up with Heather. I mean yes, they are horrible people, but they really bring out the better in each other. Or at least it was like that before the show. I just can't believe that he truly changed if he cheated on her."
In the showers, Charlotte was trying to cool her head. Just a moment before, she was with Amy and Lilly. The older twin was blackmailing her into an alliance just because she found out that the e-gamer could access the island's main computer thanks to Max's strange tool.
Charlotte wanted to find a way to eliminate that arrogant cheater. Not only for the blackmail but because she took out Jasmine before she had the chance to beat her.
But there was also Sky, her new rival, the gymnast who showed yesterday that she was a top player. Charlotte was envious. If she was in her place, could she also win? Of course she could! Or that was what Charlotte wanted to think.
Beat Amy and Sky, that was her focus. Be the top player again and show that the gamers are as good as any other sportsman. That was Charlotte's drive. She put on her clothes and went out of the bathroom. She usually would go into the woods to try to access the DAM main computer, but surely Amy would be lurking around. So she instead went to the mess hall.
But on the way, she found a familiar face sweeping the front of the ferret's cabin.
The e-gamer decided to stop and greeted him. "Hello, pretty boy! Why are you wasting energy points cleaning the entrance of the cabins? It will get dirty again in less than an hour."
"It's not a waste of time. It will be dirty, but if we don't sweep, it would be dirtier," answered Topher, smiling at her. "And how are you? You have been pretty distant these past days."
I have been trying to access the main server of this game illegally, but Sammy's sister found my logs and is now blackmailing me. Thought Charlotte, but there was no use in telling Topher. He was a mysterious character with a non defined alignment on the Amy/Jasmine conflict and could be one of the evil twin minions.
"Fine, I have been looking for an Immunity idol on the island," lied the e-gamer, making a small smile.
"That sounds strange," said Topher, leaning on his broom with a thoughtful expression on his face.
Charlotte's eyes went wide, and she was sweating a lot. The guy's perception skill was higher than she thought. "Of course not. It gives you a great game advantage. It's the ultimate bonus item."
Topher put a hand on his chin and showed his better angle to her. "No, I mean, it sounded strange how you said it. You usually would say that you were exploring a stage searching for an item blah, blah. I don't mean to insult you, but you usually don't talk like that."
There was a brief silence. Charlotte wanted to hit her head against the wall, but refrained from doing it and just smiled at the host wannabe. "Really, I should see the replay of the kill cam because I am not sure what you are talking about."
"Maybe it was just my imagination," said Topher shrugging. "And now that you mention it, it's a good idea to look for the idols. Chris said there are 3 on the island. And nobody had played even the first."
"Or maybe someone already found them and are waiting to use them." The e-gamer and the host wannabe were startled by the male voice intruding in their conversation.
"MIK! Say something if you are there. You scared the hell out of me." said Topher, narrowing his eyes at his friend. "Also, being scared makes me look less handsome."
"Don't you mean ugly?" asked Charlotte, raising an eyebrow.
Topher chuckled. "No, Charlotte, I mean less handsome. With this face, I can't look ugly, even if I tried."
Charlotte and Mike laughed, then the guy with spiked hair continued with what was he saying. "Sorry, I didn't want to startle you. But there was this guy on my season that found an immunity idol and didn't use it in like 6 challenges. That's why I said that maybe someone already found one of them, or maybe more."
"Scott, right? I remember him from watching the show. But, how can you be sure that guy found it beforehand?" asked the pretty boy, "maybe he just found it the day he used it?"
Mike shook his head. "Nope, he carved a fake idol identical to the original to trick other competitors. There is no way he could copy it like that if he didn't have the original."
"Oh!? I see." Topher nodded, he never thought about that, and he watched the Revenge season at least 30 times.
While they discussed, the e-gamer covered her mouth with her fist. What if Mike was right and, for example, Amy already found one of the idols? If that was true, then she needed to act quickly to eliminate the twin. But how can she find if she has one or not?
Then she had an idea, but she must act quickly before Amy or Lilly realize it.
"See you later, guys. I am joining the queue for another game." Said Charlotte while running away toward the woods.
"Is she ok?" said Mike, raising an eyebrow.
Topher just looked at her going away. "I don't know. She is quite a mystery. We used to talk a lot, but these days she is always busy."
Confessional: Charlotte
"I just realized there is a glitch on this game. To take down that evil Sammy, and warrant they don't eliminate me. I can't tell my plan here on the confessional, but I know I can do it. After all, I am the best player in this competition. Prepare yourself evil Sammy." Charlotte pointed at herself with a big smile
At dusk, Brick was coming back from the woods. Alejandro recommended that he should look for the idols around the island, and without anything better to do, the Cadet followed the advice.
But as he was going down the road, he found someone at the entrance of the woods. They seemed to be doing something to a tree. So out of curiosity, he stopped and walked closer to have a better look.
The person was Duncan, the delinquent was carving the tree. It was a skull, like the one on the punk's T-shirt.
Brick could go away at that moment, but it was a chance to try to make some bridges with the winner of the second season.
"Wow! You really have talent with the knife." Said Brick sounding excited. After all, he honestly thought it was a great handiwork.
The delinquent looked at him a brief moment before continuing carving. "I was just wondering who was there. Thanks, soldier. And this one isn't finished, just wait, and it will be even better."
Brick rubbed his head and blushed. "I'm not really a soldier. I graduated from a military academy but have not enlisted yet."
"Same thing to me. You are a military guy, so don't sweat the details." Said Duncan while degrading part of the bark to make the carving look deeper.
"But maybe you should not carve trees. After all, they are living things, you know?" said Brick, scratching his cheek.
Duncan chuckled and stopped carving to look into the Cadet's eyes. "You just sound like that midget friend of yours."
"You mean Dawn?" replied Brick, slightly upset.
"Yes, Dawn. How can I forget a name like that? I am sure it's a nickname and not her actual name," said the delinquent while smirking.
Brick narrowed his eyes and frowned at Duncan. "I don't think she would use a nickname. She would tell us."
Duncan chuckled and looked at him. "Then her parents didn't care about her. Naming your daughter Dawn, hahaha, she surely had it hard in elementary school."
"I really don't think you can say that about her parents. Dawn is a wonderful name, and you sound like a jerk laughing about it," said Brick, bothered by Duncan's attitude.
"Relax, it's just a joke. Don't kill me for that," said Duncan smirking again. "You can't take everything people say by face value."
Brick remained unamused, folding his arms. "Well, I don't find your joke funny. What would you think if I said that Duncan is a horrible name?"
"Duncan IS a horrible name." said the delinquent while juggling his knife in one hand. "It was my grandfather's name, so they decided to name me after the good old commissioner. Personally, I would prefer another name. But after all these years, I am too used to it to change it," he then shrugged and narrowed his eyes at the Cadet. "But, we surely can't say the same with your name, BRICK."
Brick tilted his head. "Brick is a great name. I really like it."
"If you like walls and masonry," replied Duncan quickly, showing a mocking smile.
"My mom loves the book 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.' So she wanted to call her first son Brick. I think it is a great name." said Brick glaring at the delinquent.
Duncan shrugged. "Whatever. At least it's better than being named after a dead family member."
"Do you always have to be so negative?" asked Brick, tired of Duncan's mocking attitude and snarky comebacks.
"And you always have to be so uptight? Live and let live," said Duncan storing his knife and looking into his eyes.
Both men keep staring at each other. Despite Brick's better intentions, they seem to be on worse terms now than before starting the conversation.
"Wow! I never expected to find you two together," said a female voice.
Luckily, someone interrupted the silent confrontation.
"Hello, Zoey. Yes, I was on my way to the cabins and stopped to say hello. Now excuse me." Brick said in a harsher tone than he intended, and went away toward the cabins.
Zoey kept looking at him, raising an eyebrow. "Did something happen between you and Brick?"
"I don't know. Usually, people love my wonderful personality. Maybe the tin soldier is just too uptight," said Duncan in a snarky tone.
"Please, Duncan, don't make fun of him. He is my friend and a potential ally. And he is a polite and kind man. Can you try to befriend him?" said Zoey looking at him with puppy eyes.
Duncan winced. "Stop looking at me like that. I will try, ok? But it will not be easy. He is stubborn and doesn't have a sense of humor."
Zoey leaned against a tree smiling, then looked a Duncan again, and after hesitating for a moment, she asked him. "Do you still hate Courtney?"
The delinquent looked at her with wide eyes. "I was angry at her, disappointed, and bitter. But I never hated her. Why do you ask, Red?"
"Because you formed this alliance with me and instead of inviting Courtney, you invited Beth, who is her rival." Said Zoey looking into his teal colored eyes. "Why? Are you still angry at her?"
Instead of getting serious as the Indie girl expected, the delinquent smirked. "It's all part of my plan, Red. Don't worry, Courtney is fine. But trust me, right now it is better to not make an alliance. We will wait until the merge."
Zoey looked at him, raising both eyebrows. "How can you be so sure?"
"Just trust me on this one, Red," Duncan said, walking toward her. "Now let's go back to the cabin. It's already dark, and I don't want to hear Chef or Miss C.I.T nagging because we are late."
Zoey stood up and looked at him with a quizzical smile. "Are you sure you are not angry with her anymore?"
"Yes, I said nagging with care," joked the delinquent, as both went back to the cabins.
Confessional: Brick
"I don't understand that guy. I don't want to judge him too harshly, but maybe Dawn is right, and he is a bad apple." Said Brick folding his arms and tilting his head. "Also, I'm not uptight, Am I? I mean, I was always the funny guy in the military academy." The Cadet then kept looking worried at the floor.
The night passed without further incidents. Amy was busy with Lilly and Charlotte, so she didn't bother her sister. And on the Foxes side, without Lighting, things were a lot quieter.
The next day began, as usual, the early birds began doing exercise, then the others started to wake up and ate their breakfast.
At noon they heard the familiar and unpleasant voice of Chris on the Loudspeakers.
"Good Morning, campers. Meet me in the amphitheater in 10 minutes, it's time to show me what you're made of," said Chris in a joyful tone.
Courtney raised an eyebrow and looked at Zoey, "Is there an amphitheater on the island?"
The host talked again through the loudspeakers. "Yes, we built it last night. It's near the lake at the center of the island. So stop asking questions and hurry up."
The 17 campers went to the lake, and there was the amphitheater, if you could call that improvised stage with curtains an amphitheater. In front of it were some stands at left and right, one set for each team.
Alejandro sat next to Beth, and behind him were Brick and Zoey. On the other side of their stands, Heather was with Courtney and Cody. Duncan sat in the middle of the two groups.
At the ferrets' stands, Amy sat next to Mike, and behind her Lilly and Charlotte, the last one frowning. On the other side were Sammy, Shawn, and Sky. Topher sat next to Sammy, and Dramaman next to Sky, but the Olympian stood up and changed places with Shawn.
Chris was smiling, standing at the center of the amphitheater. Once everyone was in their places, he started talking. "Welcome campers, this is our third blast of the past challenge. What kind of summer camp doesn't have a talent show? So like other times, you will have to show us what you can do."
Some campers like Heather, Duncan, and Sammy groaned, but others like Beth, Topher, and Mike seemed excited.
"I am glad you like the idea. The rules are simple, you have 5 hours to choose the 5 best acts among you. You can perform alone or in pairs, but each camper can perform only 1 time. Dancing, singing, juggling, you can perform almost anything, as long it's legal." Chris said while glaring at Duncan. Immediately there was some whispering among the contestants.
The Host smiled and continued, "The only rules are, you can't perform craptry, NEVER. And also, no reading diaries or exposing any other private belongings of other contestants from this or any other season. It's too messed up." He then glared at Heather, the Asian girl only scoffed and turned her face at him.
"Will Chef judge again the acts?" asked Beth raising a hand.
"Yes. And how will you decide the winner? If the best act wins, I want to know beforehand," said Heather glaring back at Chris.
Chris raised his hand to calm down the contestants. "Let me finish. You will be judged by a panel formed by moi, the rap legend Chef Hatchet, and our lovely supercomputer DAM. We will evaluate the performance from 1 to 10, and add it to the team total. The team that gets closer to 150 wins."
Sammy raised a hand. "And what if we end with a tie?"
"That's a stupid question, thanks, Samey." Said Amy rolling her eyes, while Sammy and her friends glared at her.
"There are no stupid questions Amy, Samey is right. In case of a tie, the team that scores the highest score in a single performance wins immunity," said Chris smiling at the younger twin that scoffed after being called Samey.
"And what if both teams tie and score 30 points in one of the events?" asked Courtney, raising a hand.
Chris rolled his eyes. "If both teams tie, and they have the same high score. DAM will decide who wins based on which is the more popular team. Anyway, that's all. We will meet again here at 16:00 to decide who performs first. Break a leg, and see you later."
The foxes went back to the front of the cabins to discuss the performances and the order.
"Well, first we have to decide who will perform. So let's begin with some volunteers," said Heather, holding a clipboard with some papers.
"Wait a moment, Heather. Who named you team captain?" said Beth glaring at the Queen Bee.
The Asian girl rolled her eyes. "I didn't say anything about a team captain this time, Beth. Can you hold your pathetic resentment at least until we won this challenge? Thanks."
Beth scowled but couldn't find the words to reply to Heather's insult. Alejandro put his arm across her shoulders and whispered. "Don't worry, you are in the right." The brunette girl blushed and nodded.
"As I was saying, volunteers?" said Heather, ignoring Alejandro's kindness toward her enemy.
"Me, Me, Me." Said Cody waving a hand joyfully. "I have some new tricks that can amuse the judges."
"Fine, Let's see what you got," said Heather shrugging.
The foxes sat, Cody walked in front of them. He then took something out of his pocket.
"Look at this! This is just an ordinary deck of cards," he then shuffled it from one hand to the other, "Or not?"
He then began to shuffle his cards from one hand to the other, and then across his shoulder.
"BORING!" shouted Duncan, cupping his mouth to sound louder.
Zoey looked at him, raising an eyebrow. "It is? I enjoy seeing him shuffling like that, it's like, wow."
"Cody's not bad, but it's not good either." Said Heather shaking her head. "It lacks punch."
"Wait a minute. There is more." Said Cody, letting all the cards fall from his left to his right hand after doing one last shuffle. "Come here, Heather, I need your help."
The Queen Bee stood up and walked next to him, narrowing her eyes at the brunette boy. "Please, choose a card, any card."
With an unamused expression, the girl took a card. "Now, don't show it to me. I will guess which card it is without looking. Using my psychic powers."
"Wow! Cody has psychic powers?" said Beth looking at him with wide eyes.
"Of course not, psychic powers don't exist." said Brick confidently, and then he slightly frowned. "because they don't exist, right?"
Cody smirked and put his index finger pointing at his forehead. "I can feel it. The card you took is, is..." Cody opened his blue eyes wide, "The queen of hearts."
Everyone in the audience gasped, except for Heather.
"No," she said, blinking irritated at the brunette guy.
There was a moment of silence, followed by some chuckles. Cody then scratched his head. "That strange, it's the Ace of hearts?"
"No, is not the Ace either. Are you even trying?" said Heather folding her arms.
"LAME," shouted Duncan. Courtney elbowing him. But even she was smiling a little at the performance.
"Then is the 6 of hearts, right?" said Cody making finger guns at her.
"NO! Why are you obsessed with the hearts?" shouted Heather, scowling at him.
Now the foxes were all laughing at the impromptu comedy scene. While Cody put a hand on his chin, "The six of diamonds?"
"NO! It's the queen of spades, you hoax! The queen of spades." Heather tossed her braid, hitting the failed magician in the face.
"Ouch! See, at least I was right about the rank of the card," said Cody with a big smile that showed the gap in his teeth.
Everyone was laughing. "Hahaha, you can make a wonderful comedy duo for the performance," Said Alejandro, who was splitting his side.
Heather blushed. She was too embarrassed but tried to hide it. "Of course not, this kind of improvised comedy doesn't work a second time. We need other acts. Cody, you are fired." She said, her lips trembling.
"But Heather, wait. I have other tricks," the brunette guy said, shuffling the cards. After a moment, the cards vanished in thin air.
"No more card tricks!" shouted Heather. "Now get out of the stage, we have to decide the 5 acts quickly so they can practice." The Queen Bee pointed at the other foxes, but then the cards began to fall from her hand.
Zoey, Beth, Duncan, and Brick started clapping while Alejandro and Courtney tried their best to not laugh. Cody bowed at the public while Heather was standing there fuming.
The Queen Bee stomped her feet on the ground. "I SAID NO MORE CARD TRICKS."
Confessional: Heather
"We don't need 5 good acts. We only need 5 acts that are better than those dorks ferrets. But for some reason, I fear we don't have even 5 acts. Thankfully I am here to take the reins of the team and win this challenge." Said Heather putting a hand over her chest and smiling arrogantly.
The ferrets, instead of the cabins, gather at the woods entrance to talk more freely about who will participate in the audition.
"This contest is not only about your talent. You have to sell it well and make the judges love it. But before polishing the act, we need to choose the best acts amongst ourselves." Said Topher looking at his teammates, who were sitting on the grass.
"Then I will go first. Lilly, bring my pom-poms," said Amy, smirking.
The redhead took a moment to understand what she was saying, but after a moment, nodded and stood up, but before she went away, someone interrupted her.
"Amy! Lilly is not your slave. Go get your pom-poms yourself." Said Sammy glaring at the older twin.
Amy raised an eyebrow. "What is your problem, Samey? She is just helping me because I'll be acting, that is called being a good friend."
"No, it's called being abusive. So you go for them instead of forcing your friend." Said Sammy pointing at Lilly.
"I really don't care. I'm glad to help her," said Lilly in her usual shy and low tone, but nobody paid attention to her.
Amy rolled her eyes. "You know something, I'm tired of your attitude. You want me to go get the damn pom-poms, ok, I will go. But you stop nagging and try to help the team."
"I was not nagging." Said Sammy with a perplexed expression. But Amy didn't answer her. Instead, she went with Lilly for the pom-poms.
The rest of the ferrets kept looking at each other while the older sister went away.
"Well, while she came back. Who else wants to show us their act." Said Topher, while looking at the rest of the ferrets.
Mike raised his hand. "I can do it. I have some good tricks."
"Well, Mik, come here and show us what you got." Said Topher, letting Mike take his place in front of the team.
The guy with spiky hair took a deep breath, got up, and stood in front of his teammates, rubbing his arm and smiling. "Hello, my name is Mike, but you already knew that. I want to use this chance to talk to you about summer camps."
His teammates looked at each other and whispered among them, then Mike continued.
"You know summer camps! I went to one when I was 16, and Oh boy, it was wonderful. It was wonderful I survived, I mean the site was old, and when I said old, I mean, when the founders of Canada came here, they slept in those cabins." Said Mike winking at the public. There were some laughs and chuckles.
Then Mike stood hunched, closing one eye, and talked like an old man. "In my time, summer camps were, wait a moment, but if this is the same summer camp I used to attend when I was younger, and it was already old then!"
The teammates began to laugh. His imitation was wonderful. Mike waited for them to stop laughing before continuing in his normal voice.
"So you are there, in the boat for the camp. And you meet this girl that is perfect, and I mean perfect. If you asked heaven for a tailored angel, they would give another one to you, and they will keep this for themselves." Mike stood silent a moment, waiting for some chuckles.
He continued walking in front of them. "Well, you are drooling for this girl, agonizing how to start a conversation with her. And then, luck smiles, and she elbows you and says, 'Can't you believe we are here?' so you as a smart guy, took your chance and replied."
Mike put his hair slicked back and looked arrogant at his teammates, saying in a smug voice. "Yes, it's beautiful." While wiggling his eyebrows. Sammy, Topher, and Sky were laughing at his imitation.
"But that, that is just the image in your head of what you are saying. What she sees is something like this." Mike put his hair again on spikes and looked at the front with wide eyes, mouth half-open, and a goofy expression. "Yes, it's beautiful." Then he put a hand on his face and laughed embarrassed.
The ferrets kept laughing for 2 more minutes while Mike's monologue continued. And then clapped for him.
Topher went to swap with his friend. "That was awesome, man, you really know how to perform."
"Hehehe, It's something I learned in the past, thanks to some old friends," said Mike, a melancholic expression on his face.
"Then we already have our first act. Those who agree to use Mike's monologue, raise a hand." All the ferrets' raised a hand, sans Amy and Lilly that weren't there.
Confessional: Mike
"I am glad I can use my talent to help the team. But honestly, I feel weird when I act like old Chester and the rest. When I pressed the button, I felt like it was natural. But right now … nevermind, is not important." Mike looked at the ground with a worried expression.
At the foxes camp, the team was waiting for Heather that changed into a black ballet leotard and tutu. The Queen Bee looked dazzling on her outfit, walking confidently in front of her fellow teammates.
"Well, I will delight you with a fragment of Act III of the Swan Lake. Please, Cody, if you may." Said the Queen Bee looking at the brunette boy, who pressed start on a radio.
As the music started, Heather began to dance the piece. Her movements were gracious and fluid. Her feet in perfect position in every step and twirl.
Most of the foxes were surprised at the performance. It was known that Heather had practiced ballet for years, but she showed a talent that few of them knew. Only Duncan and Brick were not enthralled by the dance.
In the end, the main ballerina bowed as her teammates clapped.
"It's not bad, but it's quite boring." Said Duncan leaning on his place.
Heather scowled at him. "Boring? Are you blind? It's wonderful."
"It was not boring." Said Courtney looking at her, surprised. "But would it not be better if you perform with someone else? I mean, the scene is obviously made for two dancers."
"I know, but there is no one here that can dance ballet, except Aleja-" Heather covered her mouth, but it was too late.
"Al, do you know how to dance ballet?" asked Brick with wide eyes.
The Spaniard smiled proudly. "It's only one of my many talents."
"But I cannot perform with him! I mean, I will NOT-" but before Heather could end, she was interrupted by Duncan.
"We are here to win or not, Heather. If he can give your boring performance a boost, let him. It's only a challenge," said the delinquent, looking smugly at her.
"What do you say señorita? Should we give it a try?" said Alejandro, looking at Heather's gray eyes.
Heather sighed, defeated. "Alright, but if you make an error, we will vote you out."
"NOOO! Alejandro, you don't have to accept that kind of condition." Said Beth in a distressed tone.
"Don't worry. I will be fine." Said Alejandro patting her head.
"Then it's decided, Alejandro and I will perform. I will go to change my clothes, and then it is your turn, Courtney," said Heather as she walked toward her cabin.
Courtney tilted her head. "what are you talking about?"
"Of course, you will perform with your violin, or not?" said the Queen Bee, as if it was obvious.
The Latin girl cursed her luck, if possible, she wanted to avoid this. But it seemed that she had no other choice than to confront the situation. There is no way she could perform on this talent show.
Author Notes:
And the 3rd blast of the past challenge is here. What will be the 10 acts the contestants will present? Who will win and who will lose the challenge? And why Courtney doesn't want to perform? Find out in the next chapter.
The talent show episode I think it's one of my favorites episodes of Island, and of course, I wanted to use the chance to make a tribute. Of this chapter, my favorite is Mike's monologue. I hope you find it funny.
