Chapter 19: Christmas Pt. 2

(Narrator POV)

"Okay it's my last gift. I'm sorry I'm taking so long."

"Ya know let's wait for that one it a surprise."

"I think it already is a surprise. It's a Christmas gift, it's wrapped and underneath the tree. I don't know how much more surprise you can get." She started opening it and Edgar took the box from her.

"Okay fine!" Olivia anxiously waited for the surprise but little did she know. The it was be the surprise of her life.

After cleaning up all of the kitchen mess and wrapping paper mess, everyone got up and went to their rooms to get ready for the Christmas activities. Edgar stopped before he went in his room to talk to Noah. "Hey Noah don't forget. We have to go and get your outfit."

"I know but what are we gonna do about mommy?"

"My mom, Morgan, and Sasha is gonna take her out somewhere while Kevin is gonna help us get ready okay?"

"Yup!" He gave Edgar a big thumbs up. He ran up the stairs and Edgar went into room. He could hear the sound of her throwing up. He hurried in as fast as possible. "Oh Liv." "I feel fine. I just am throwing up and I have nothing to puke out. And it's tiring me out. It's just a lot to take in and it's different than just adopting a baby. She tilted her head questioning what was wrong not talking trying to to alarm Olivia. Edgar mouthed "pregnancy adjustment."

She made the okay sign with her hand and left out the room. Everyone had come down and was waiting by the door to leave. "Where are they at?" Dianne asked.

"Olivia is not handling the pregnancy adjustments well and it's taking a toll on her.

I don't know when they'll be ready." She shrugged.

"Poor Olivia." Ulrich said sincerely.

Back in the bedroom. Her puke had slowed up and they got off the floor. Her moody had changed dramatically from when they were opening presents to now. She seemed gloomy and tired. Edgar wondered if she'd be up for the surprise today. Ten minutes later they had gotten dressed and ready to go in warm comfortable clothing.

"We're ready to go." Edgar came out and said.

"Okay let's go." Edgar and Olivia would be in her SUV and the rest of the family would be in the truck. "Mom can I ride with AJ and Sasha? Please? They have an extra seat..."

"Yeah I don't care. Go ahead." She had a very nonchalant attitude right now and it was all over her; you couldn't miss it. The whole surprise was looking more and more like a bad idea to do today as the rest of the day progressed. He just hopes he can keep her from having a meltdown, for a just a few more hours. Because he knew one wrong thing could flip the switch and she would go off. They pull out of the driveway and Olivia asked "where to?"

"Target. You okay? You seem I don't know Uhh down I guess."

"I'm fine I'm just having a hard time with this pregnancy thing. I just feel like I am all over the place." She said focusing on driving.

"That's okay. You're pregnant and that's how it gets. Nobody is perfect at being pregnant it's unpredictable. This is all new to both of us and we can figure it out together."

"So I didn't help?"

Olivia was really tired and it was obvious. It was beginning to worry Edgar a little more. In the store everyone was together they had two carts and Olivia grabbed a third. Edgar and Olivia went to the grocery part of the store. Dianne and Ulrich to the kids to the toy isle where all the board games were. Kevin and Morgan we left to decide who to go with because there was no reason to have three carts. They didn't want to go with Morgan's parents because they needed a break from their kids. But they didn't wanna go with Edgar and Olivia because it looked like they were having some sort of issue but they didn't know for sure. In the end they ended up with Olivia and Edgar.

"Okay we're gonna go to the grocery isle we can meet back here when we go to checkout or just text one of us." Edgar spoke.

"Okay. Kids let's go!" Ulrich replied. They went there separate ways.

"What do you guys want to get?" Edgar asked.

"I think we should make pizzas from scratch." Morgan suggested.

"I like that idea. Olivia?" Kevin agreed. They turned around to see Olivia. She was pushing the cart with her head down, slowly.

"Olivia?" Kevin said again. She lifted her head pushed her hair back by running her hand through her hair.

"You okay?" Morgan asked walking up to her.

"Yeah I'm good. Just a little tired."

"Okay."

They continued grocery shopping. Everyone kept a close eye on Olivia. The grabbed everything you could think of to put on a pizza just in case someone wanted something different. They met at the meet-up spot and went to checkout. While they checked out Olivia left to the car. "Is she alright, honey?" Dianne asked Edgar.

"Yeah she's just tired."

In the car Olivia rested her head and hands on the steering wheel. She was feeling nauseous again. Lord knows she can't take it anymore. She drove up to the door and waited for them all to come out.

1 hour later...

They were all at home, and dressed for the surprise. While Olivia was in the bedroom sleep. "So are we ready to go over the plan one last time?" Everyone nodded. "Okay so, mom, dad, you guys will pick up all of the food and take it to the hotel and oh take AJ and Sasha with you. Kevin and Noah we are going to the hotel to set up we have to go pick up the both gifts. Morgan you have to distract her with the scavenger hunt. Be prepared for tears along the way. Now is that clear? I have to go wake Olivia up so she can get ready."

"Do you want us to leave now?"

"Yeah that's fine." Everyone took off in their directions Kevin and Noah waited in the car for Edgar and Morgan waited in the living room. Edgar entered his bedroom and saw a sleeping Olivia. Her hair sprawled across the pillow she was so peaceful. "Olivia. Hey baby. Time for your surprise." She groaned and flipped to see Edgar's face. "Hey." She forced a smile. "How long was I out?"

"You are going with Morgan first and you guy will meet us there in about 45 minutes." He said while both of them exited the room.

"You ready to go?" Morgan jumped up.

"As ready as I can be." They went to separate cars and Morgan and Olivia began the scavenger hunt. "So you are gonna do a scavenger hunt okay? Here is you first note."

Olivia opened the card and it said. 'Go to the place where we first met.'

"We gave to go to Garland's house." They arrived about 10 minutes later and was greeted by La'Mai. "Hello Olivia! Here you go. You can't open this until later. Here's your next note card." She handed her a medium sized gift bag.

"Thank you La'Mai!" She turned away and walked back to the car the next note to Morgan and it said 'go to the person you miss most.' "I can't do this."

"Okay take your time." Olivia walked through the snow to get to the clear pavement and the she was standing in front of her mom's grave. After just standing there she finally sat down.
