Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Researcher Romance. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon, Nintendo, and a few others.
Golem blinked, turning towards his owner with interest as he turned, curious as to what was happening with him when it comes down to it. Jack leaned down to pat him on the head as the rock Pokémon leaned into his touch.
"Ok, bud. Ok." Jack added, looking at Sonia a moment later as he slowly climbed to his feet, brushing off his jacket a moment later as he sighed.
This research had become rather bogged down. He and Sonia had been studying Pokémon on the coast, it had slowly started to come to a close as the duo had barely done anything. Their work had slowly ground to nothing when it comes down to it.
"Sonia, how's the studying going?" Jack questioned as he hummed, cracking his fingers as he looked around. "I've not gotten a lot at the moment. My reports on the aquatic Pokémon aren't going so well, they're not staying still enough to discuss." Jack said, crossing his legs under him and sitting on a rock.
Sonia hummed, looking at a clipboard while her Yamper chased a Lotad around the beach. It was beginning to dawn on here that there was not much to study out there. Still? They couldn't afford to give up that easily, there was still much work to be done.
Sonia was quite curious as to where the normal Pokémon had gone. They had been here in bulk when she had come here last. Was something slowly driving them out of this place? That concerned her far beyond normal. Sonia knew if there was plenty of Pokémon migrating away from here? It was worth studying to find out what was happening to the end.
"Do you have much data on the water type Pokémon yet?" Sonia asked, looking over her clipboard and crossing her feet under her a moment later.
"Which did you ask me to record, again?" Jack questioned as he walked over a second later, spinning his pen through his fingers. "I've gotten about 20 to 30 different names on this list, has there been one where you don't have yet? You want a straight list of Pokémon that I've put on the list?" Jack questioned while taking a seat next to Sonia.
Sonia hummed, flipping a strand out of her hair a moment later while she looked down at the clipboard. She didn't know how to best respond to the question at odds. There was a lot more data to record. She envied how her family had no real trouble at this.
"Yeah, let me check it out," Sonia stated while she patted the seat next to her. "I've gotten Lotad, Magikarp, Chewtle, Arrokuda… Are there any Pokémon that aren't on this list?" Sonia questioned at the moment, sighing as she rubbed at her temples, curious as she looked over the Pokémon.
Sonia was going to point out that they had to go to another city. She knew for a fact that not much work was going to happen if they stayed here at the moment…. But Sonia didn't want to leave Wedgeburst to get much research done.
"I think we should call it a day before it gets darker out," Jack stated while he shook his head. "We've gotten a lot of work to do, cataloging this data, making sure that it's not lost. Well, that and the fact that I'm hungry." Jack added which got a roll of the eyes once more.
Jack was going to suggest they take a look at the rest of the Pokémon around the lab before they came back. Sonia probably wouldn't want to point out that they'd be coming back when it was dark out, defeating the purpose entirely.
"Great, now you're making me hungry," Sonia muttered in response as she slowly stood up, curious as to the next move to make. "Fine, let's get some dinner and compile notes so we can call it a day and then come back here to look around," Sonia added to which she got a hum from Jack who nodded, rubbing at his arms a moment more.
The duo slowly began to walk back toward the lab. Both were tired, but both had more work to do. They would slowly begin to continue it once more. They had more moves to focus on. Pokémon was still fresh on their mind and until then? They could put their efforts towards that, until that time? They had to focus on more pressing issues down the road.
Sonia turned to Jack who placed his head in his hands, cracking a small smirk as he thought about the research they had done. It would be pretty draining to focus on it with an empty stomach.
"You know, there are places around here I don't know all that well," Jack added, nodding ahead as they walked.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out next chapter will be a bit delayed because of the other stories on the hook and such. The next chapter is in 2-10 months and will show more of Sonia and Jack talking and bonding with each other. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter is 900-6500 words at the moment and will be a bit shorter in the future.
