Chapter 22: The Reason Why.
(Narrator POV)
A/N: I saw all of your reviews and I know you guys are upset and mad at me but I did what I did to move the story along. I debated on posting that chapter. Trust me it was hard to write but in the end of this chapter you will understand.
It was the next day from all of the madness that took place yesterday. Edgar got Olivia settled and comfortable. He on the other hand settled not so comfortable though. Because of what was going on Edgar took his place on her sofa which is not to be slept on no matter how tall you are. He got up made breakfast and coffee for Noah and Olivia. He got Noah ready for school and La'Mai stopped by to pick Noah up for school. "Hi La'Mai."
"Edgar." She said sternly.
"Okay... Noah is just grabbing the rest of his stuff."
"Okay I'm ready." He came out hurrying.
"Have a good day, both of you."
"Mhmm. Yeah."
"What did I do to you?" Edgar laughed.
"You know what you did, and I know."
"She told you?"
"What do you think? Of course I am her best friend! Tell Olivia I said get better. Bye." Great his colossal mistake was known by bother people. He wish he could take back all of his words. But he can't. What has been said can't be changed. Just what he says from now on, can never be like that again. He closes the door, grabs a plate of food, and a cup of coffee. He knocked on Olivia's door, he walked in and she was crying. He quickly put the plate and cup down? He went over to console her. "Hey, what's going on?" He wrapped his arms around her which caused her to cry harder.
"Everything hurts. When I woke up everything came crashing down from yesterday it was just a lot. And I need to bathe can you help me?" They both forgot last night to shower. Olivia was too tired to think about anything but rest.
"Sure, you wanna eat first then get in?"
"I'm not hungry." He decided not to force her into too much not knowing how she would react. Plus he was already in a hole and wasn't trying to dig it deeper. He went in the bathroom and started her bath water.
"Okay come on." He helped her stand up. "Slow! Slow. There you go, I know it hurts, I know." I'm the bathroom Edgar helped Olivia take her clothes off seeing as that would cause her more pain trying to do it herself. He saw all of the bruises and scars, she really went through hell. He got he situated in the tub and tried really hard to get most of the blood off of her, but he was nervous to scrub too hard would cause too much pain. He washed her hair; after about 30 minutes, he got her out the tub, put some lotion on her back and legs because she insisted on doing her arms and front torso. Helped her get dressed. He gently brushed her hair and put it up in a bun for her. Doing all of the things a person who loves you does.
She laid in bed back toward Edgar and the door. "Have you told your family yet?"
"No, I wasn't sure if you were ready. Honestly I wasn't ready to tell them either."
"Okay. Edgar?"
"Yes, Liv?"
"Thank you."
"It's no big deal." He walked over to her and kissed her cheek. "Love you, feel better."
"What time do you start work, so I know when to leave you alone?"
"I start at 10:30 because I have a meeting. But if you need anything just tell me whether I'm in a meeting or not. I'm at home to help you."
"Okay." He left.
After Edgar's meeting he went to check on Liv again to see if she wanted anything. She still is refusing to eat. It's getting to the point where Edgar might have to start pressuring her into it but that's a last resort. Liv didn't much but sleep and cry. That was it. Edgar wanted to go in there everything and just hold her, cry with her, be there for her. But he kept his distance. Little did he know, Olivia wanted the same thing. She just wanted to be back in his arms. In the meantime Edgar watched some TV while he let Olivia rest. It was around noon, he turn on the Steve Harvey show; he always watched this with his grandmother before she past just last year. Just about halfway through he heard Olivia's door open, he turned around. She was inching out the door. "Hi, umm Edgar can we talk for a minute."
"Yeah. In here or there?"
"Uhh, in my room please." He stood up and followed her. "Please use your crutches, you're not gonna get any better without them." He turned around and grabbed them and proceeded to follow her. She sat back where she was sit trying to be completely comfortable but that wasn't gonna happen.
"What is it?" He was still standing at the door.
"I think you should sit. This could take a
while."
"Okay..." He sat on the Edgar of the bed n her side. Still keeping his distance.
"So I've bee think a lot lately. Since that all I can really do at the moment and I've thought a lot about Noah, us, and the baby." She couldn't talk about the baby without crying. He put his hand on her thigh to comfort her.
"But more than anything I have thought about us. It's all I really can think about. When I think of something else it somehow ever time goes right back to you and I. I love you Edgar. And you show me all the time that you truly love me, even yesterday and today when I was so angry with you. You still managed to make want to love you. I'm gonna be honest with you. Yesterday I was mad at you and I thought it was gonna be the end. Then you came back and told me everything and it made me feel less anger just more hurt. What you said can never be taken back. You have made me see past all of that though. You make it so hard for me to be mad at you which makes me mad but it doesn't." She laughed and more tears fell. He smiled he hadn't heard her laugh in what seemed like forever.
"Well I'm glad you told me this. I feel better about this whole situation. I understand everything your saying and I love you too. And I'm so sorry. I really am I hurt you which hurt me. Because I hurt the woman that I love. Please believe me and forgive me for what I did?" He moved closer and moved his hand to her hip.
"All is forgiven but never forgotten. I love you too much to stay mad at you. I haven't slept well without me being in your arms, it's the most comforting feeling and I miss it." She leaned into him, rested her head on his shoulder.
"I can say the same but I think that sofa I'm sleeping on has a lot to do with why I'm uncomfortable." They both laughed. She moved onto his lap.
"I'm sorry you can come in my room now that I'm not so mad at you anymore."
"You don't have to tell me twice. Gosh these last two days have been hell, but I'm glad it's all over and we made up. But if you don't mind me asking, why did you really want me to leave the room at the hospital?"
"Can I be honest?" She turned and looked at him.
"Yes that's all I want."
"When the doctor told us about what happened I immediately looked over at you and your face said it all. I couldn't have you in the room knowing what I did to you. I-"
"What you did to me?"
"I lost our baby. I couldn't carry our baby something I'm supposed to be able to do."
"Oh baby, I'm not mad at you, at all. I mad at the son of bitch who did that to you but I could never blame you for that."
"But I blame myself. And I couldn't have you around me because I felt like I failed you." She cried. "I'm sorry I'm so overly emotional."
"It's fine. I'd be worried if you were anything but emotional. Your hormones are adjusting again, we just lost out baby, it's is perfectly fine to cry." He said as he wiped her tears away.
"Then why haven't you?"
"Because I have to take care of you and I can't breakdown and then you breakdown, then everything would be a mess. I can that on my own time but right all I want to do is lay here with you until I have to get back to work and pick up Noah."
"Okay." She pecked his lips.
"I've been waiting for one of those for what seemed like forever."
He helped Olivia stand up and get in bed, making sure she was as comfortable as possible. He climbed in behind her wrapping his arms around her where they so longed to be. "Have you ever thought about when you want to get married?" Edgar asked Olivia.
"I've always wanted a Christmas- New Years Eve wedding. The winter time definitely. Why?"
"Well that something you look forward to this year."
"You haven't even proposed to me yet." She giggled.
"I know but at some point this year you will have an engagement ring and a wedding ring. I can promise you that."
"Okay. But don't make is so romantic just intimate and true."
"I know, I know. But you'll see whenever it happens."
"Alright. I'm tired and I haven't slept well so shhh. Let me sleep."
"Okay I-"
"Shhhhh I'm trying to sleep."
"Okay love you." He said very quickly. She turned around as fast as she could.
"You just don't listen. Mhmm." She laughed.
"Be seriously shut up." She cuddled into his chest and dozed off. Edgar looked at her and was glad that everything was gonna be okay.
