I could feel myself slightly shaking as I made my way to the grand hall. There was someone waiting for me outside of the closed door.
"Good Morning, Princess," the guard greeted me.
"Good morning."
"They will announce your arrival and then you will meet the royal family," he told me. He knocked on the door to let whoever was on the other side I was there.
"Introducing Princess Isabella Swan of Adarlan!" I heard the announcer on the other side.
The doors opened, revealing my parents and the royal family waiting on the other side.
Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmet all looked completely shocked, as Alice stood there with a huge smile on her face.
I walked up to the king and the queen, just like my parents told me.
"It's an honor to meet you, you're highness'," I curtsied. "All of you," I turned to the others, who still had their mouths open in shock.
"Oh, please. We're going to become family. None of that please!" The queen told me with a warm smile.
"I'm Carlisle Cullen, It's a pleasure to meet you," the king took my hand, lightly kissing my wrist.
"I'm Esme," the queen gave me a huge hug, which took me back by surprise.
I turned to the other Cullens who were still staring in shock.
"Manners," Esme, reminded them under her breath.
"I'm Emmet, this is my wife, Rosalie," Emmet reintroduced himself. I gave them a smile and a curtsy. Rosalie looked nervous as she half returned the smile.
"I'm Jasper, and this is my fiance, Alice," Jasper gave me a little bow.
"Hi Bella!" Alice threw her arms around me to give me a huge hug. "I knew it," she whispered in my ear.
"We hope this union will bring peace, unity, and harmony between Ruthenia and Adarlan," my father told them.
"I'm certain that it will," Carlisle told him.
"Isabella, dear. Edward is waiting in the royal meeting room. You have a couple of hours before dinner is served," my mother told me.
"Boy is he in for a surprise," I heard Emmet say.
I quickly said my goodbyes as the guards led me to the royal room.
I felt oddly excited to see Edward again. I mean, this was under completely different circumstances but still. It felt a little better knowing I wasn't going to be marrying a complete stranger.
When I got to the door, I stared at it, not quite ready to open it yet.
"We'll be standing right outside, princess," the guards told me.
I nodded. I put my hand on the knob and slowly started to turn. I opened the door quietly so as not to startle Edward on the other side.
That didn't seem to be an issue because when I entered the room, Edward was on the other side of the room, looking out the window looking absolutely miserable. He looked to be deep in thought, completely oblivious to everything around him.
"I thought you'd be happier to see me," I closed the door behind me, taking a couple of steps closer to him.
Edward's face shot up, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He slowly turned around to meet my eyes.
"B-Bella?"
"Hi Masen...Or should I say Edward?"
Edward looked at me, panicked. "W-what are you doing here?"
I looked at him confused as he came up to me, grabbing my elbow, looking around the room.
"You can't be in here, do you know what they'd do if they found some random girl in the castle you-"
I interrupted him. "Edward, stop. I'm just going to assume you're in shock or something."
"Look at what I'm wearing. Look at what's on my head. Why would I be wearing a tiara right now?" I asked him.
Edward furrowed his brows. "You're...a princess," he concluded.
"Yes," I nodded.
"So...have you met the princess of Adarlan then? I'm kind of supposed to, um, marry her," he put his hands behind his back like a little kid.
Oh goodness. "It's a good thing you're cute, because you are definitely not observant," I told him, shaking my head.
"Edward, who were you expecting to walk through that door?"
"The princess of Adarlan. My...fiance," he told me.
"Okay. And who ended up walking through that door that the princess was supposed to walk through?"
"You."
"Uh huh," I nodded. "Do you see where I'm going with this?"
"Is she behind-oh. Oh!" His eyes finally lit up in realization.
I looked at him, waiting for him to say something.
"You're...and I'm...so we're…" Edward stumbled through his thoughts.
"Engaged," I finished for him.
Edward froze as it finally hit him. Although now it seemed he was in actual shock.
I waved my hand in front of his face, but he didn't move.
"Oh gosh," I took a deep breath. "Uh…"
I didn't really know what else to do so I leaned up and I kissed him.
That seemed to work, because I instantly felt his hands grip my waist, pulling me closer. I felt the warm tingling sensation throughout my body as his lips moved against mine.
I only pulled away when I ran out of air, resting my forehead against his as we both tried to catch our breath. I pulled away so I could see his face, biting my bottom lip in anticipation for his response.
