Chapter 31: Shopping

(Narrator POV)

Over the course of the week Noah and Olivia packed up there things at the apartment. They decided that moving in with Edgar would be exciting and for the best. And at the end of the month she and Noah would officially move up very there. Edgar came over after work everyday to help pack knowing that it would be a lot Olivia to do basically do it herself. Olivia found herself more tired and sick than usual over the week. Her pregnancy seemed to progress fast... so it seemed to her. She feels like she's gaining too much weight but everyone says she looks great, which only makes her feel bigger. They have been staying over at Edgar's over the weekend. Olivia finally had a true off day, not a mandatory or medical leave off day, but a day to just be with her boys. "Honey, I think you should get up now. Liv, it's almost 12:30." She didn't budge. "Sleepyhead get up."

"I'm awake. But let me go back to sleep." She pulled the blanket up so that the sun was blocked. Edgar knee from that moment today was going to be crappy for her. She had been having good days lately but her mood today just right now set the mood for the rest of the day.

"You should get up." He started pulling at the blanket.

"You should try carrying twins and working as a full-time Captain. When you do all of that maybe we can talk." Part of her was joking and the other wasn't. She was truly burnt out from the week she's had. "Fine. I'm up. Why do I have to get up?"

"Because if you want to be able to go to sleep at a normal time you need to wake up. And you said we needed to do some shopping today."

"I did say that." She groaned. "What's Noah doing?"

"He's probably in his room playing on his iPad or something I told him to get dressed like an hour ago. Come on l still haven't showered yet..." he held out his hands to help her up. "Let's get in the shower." He pulled her up and as she went in the bathroom he locked their bedroom door. Edgar had a bigger sized shower because of his height which was a perk for Olivia, she always wanted a bigger shower separate from a bathtub. Olivia let the shower run while she and Edgar undressed. She hopped in first enjoying the hot pellets of water hitting her body. "Oh shit! Damn why is the water so freaking hot?!" Edgar stepped halfway in the shower and hopped right back out.

"It's really not even that hot usually take hotter showers. But bath time... that's some hot water so whenever that time comes deal with it."

"Hotter than this! You gotta turn it down just a little bit, please?"

"Fine, such a big cry baby." Once the water cooled down he got in. It was still hotter than he liked it but it wasn't scorching hot like it was. Plus Olivia was in front of him taking most of the water. "I may be a cry baby, but I'm not letting my skin melt."

"Oh shut up, if wasn't even that hot. You're not gonna melt. Don't you like to take steamy showers with me?" She turned and laid her head on his chest.

"I like to take steamy showers when We cause the steaminess. Not with the water is at 200 degrees."

"Well what do you say let's make it steamy?"

"Those sexy hormones are flying again, aren't they."

"Maybe, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to have a hot, steamy, shower with my man." Edgar said nothing else he just started kissing all over her body, giving her the pleasure she so deserves. They started going at it in the shower. After Olivia came down from her high. Edgar started to wash her hair. Her lavender shampoo scent was absolutely beautiful. He finished shampooing and conditioning her hair, then he started washing her body gently, laying sweet kisses on her neck. After 20 more minutes they got out of the shower and got dressed. "Noah!"

"Yes?" He came running down the stairs. "It's about time you guys got ready I've been waiting for forever." He said dramatically.

"You're mom was tired. And remember what we talked about?"

"Right. Just agree and don't make mommy mad." He whispered. He and Edgar had a little talk a few days back about the babies and how Olivia might start to be more irritable.

"I'm ready guys." Olivia came out the room. All together they left to the mall. First store was maternity clothes. She had been complaining all week about how her clothes barely fit. "Hello, are you finding everything okay?"

"Actually we could use some help. How do sizes work? Like does it go by months?"

"Yes, at least here it does. I know at other store it's a little different but here we do go by months. So you what... 4-6 months range?" Olivia didn't know if she wanted to rip the lady's head off or cry. She looked fat not only to herself but to other people. Half of her brain was saying your not fat, you're just pregnant with twins but the doctor The half weighed out the other.

"No I'm three months." The young lady facial expression completely changed. She realized she offended Olivia. "With twins." Edgar added.

"Oh then we have a separate section for multiples over her. Since they do carry bigger." The followed her to the back of the store. Edgar rubbed her back, sensing her emotions rising. Noah didn't know what to do in the store she he did what other 6 and seven year old do... play with mannequins. "Here you are, if you need anything else just come find me!" After she walked away Olivia let loose.

"Did you here what she said to me. She thinks I'm huge! 4-6 months!" She whispered harshly.

"She doesn't think your huge, honey. She just estimates to help you find a good size. She didn't know that you are carry twins. You look great."

"Yeah mom, you look awesome!" Noah yelled from in between the clothes racks.

"Thank you Noah. But Edgar I feel like it. I feel like crap everything I look in the mirror I look like I've gain 20 pounds."

"So what? You're pregnant, you're body it changing and you're finally gonna have two babies. No matter how much weight you put on during pregnancy, you will still be just beautiful. Now can we pick out some clothes?"

"Fine." She went through the racks and found three pairs of black pants and a few t-shirts and blouses. "I'm gonna go try these on."

"Okay Noah and I are gonna go to some other stores. Text me when you're done here. Here is my card."

"Okay love you."

"Love you too."

"Noah! Get from between those racks." He laughed. The walked quite the distance to the jewelry store. "Why are we here? What can't we go somewhere fun!" Noah whined.

"This will only take a second then we can go to whatever store you want."

"Hi, how can I help you?" The man behind the counter asked.

"I need my ring size adjusted."

"Okay how small do you want it?"

"I actually need it bigger."

"Oh, well that may take longer to do. And it has a very intricate design to it so it would be around 120. But what size are looking for?"

"Like an 8 maybe a 9."

"Hmm, let me check in the back to see if we have that size in this ring." Like ten minutes later he finally comes back with a size 8 ring. "So I found this, and instead of me trying to stretch this ring."

"How much would that be?"

"60. I mean unless this specific ring is the one you want to keep. I understand that, but it's up to you."

"Yeah we can swap it." Edgar gave him Olivia's old ring and got the new one. Paid and took Noah to the Disney store. "Why did you want to come in here?"

"Because I love the stuffed animal pit. Come on!" He followed Noah to the back, let him choose his stuffed animals. He got Winnie the Pooh, and two Olaf's.

"Noah why are you getting two Olaf's? Get a different one and keep one."

"They're not for me. Their for my little sisters." That is so cute.

"What makes you think you're gonna have two sisters?"

"I don't know. I want a little sister."

"I'm with ya kid. I really want it to be a girl too. Hold on your moms calling."

"Hey, you ready?"

"Yeah but I'm at Starbucks I'm the east side of the mall. Not the one in the food court. Meet me here."

"Alright we'll be on our way. Noah let's go."

He did not want to keep her waiting long. He paid quickly, took Noah's hand and walked to Starbucks. "Can you take me home?" Olivia asked. She had an anxious look on her face. "Sure. If everything alright. We still have to get groceries for tonight though."

"Yeah I'm fine. Just tired."

"We can go back home. I'll go get the groceries."

"Can I go!" Noah gasped.

"Sure. Are you supposed to drink coffee?"

"It's decaf, gosh!"

"I'm sorry. I was just wondering."

"What do you think after everything I would purposely do something to harm our babies?"

"Okay, why don't we leave."

"That didn't answer my question."

"Olivia I know you would never do anything to harm them. I'm sorry I asked or even brought it up." This was the exact mood he knew she was gonna be in. They were quite the entire ride home, no watched videos on Edgar's iPad. He dropped her off and went to the store.

When Olivia got in the house she started looking everywhere for he ring. She hadn't noticed it was gone until an hour ago. She stopped wearing it on her finger because it was too tight, so she attached it back on her key chain. Olivia checked under the bed, in the bathroom, in between the couch cushions. Everywhere and nothing. She checked on the bed like three times. After a while her body got tired of searching. She felt defeated. She laid down to rest. Later when Edgar and Noah came back, the put up all the groceries, and started to make food for tonight. "Hey babe?" He knocked on the bedroom door. He saw her sleeping but also the mess all over the room. He got closer to her and her tear stained face alarmed him. "Olivia, everyone is gonna be here soon."

"Okay." She answered yawning. "What time is it?"

"It's about 5:45. We were at the store for a while. We went to some other stores too. You look like you've been crying."

"It's nothing."

"No, talk to me."

"Look I'm just tired. I'm perfectly okay." He didn't believe her at all but it was best the he just let it go, until later.

"Okay, well me and Noah are baking the pie, you wanna help?"

"No I'm gonna make sure everything is cleaned up and put the extra boxes in the garage." She took this opportunity to look some more for her ring. The squad started to arrive but Olivia didn't acknowledge them, she was too concerned about finding her missing ring. "Is she alright?" Amanda asked.

"I don't know she's been off since we left the mall earlier."

"Mhmm. Do you guys need any help?"

"No the dessert is in the kitchen oven and you guys brought the food. We are just waiting on Christian, his wife, and Kat & Fin."

"Is there somewhere where I can change Billie's diaper?" Carisi asked.

"There's a bathroom around the corner on the left or you can use one of the guest rooms upstairs."

"Thanks." Another knock at the door. "I'll get it." Carisi said before heading upstairs.

"Kat, Fin, hey guys!"

"What's up, man."

"Nothing much. Thanks for coming."

"Anywhere where there's free food, I'm there. And this dinner gave us the day off... best day in years. Where's Liv?"

"She's in the garage doing something." Amanda walked out to the garage, while everyone else continued to converse. "Hey Liv."

"Oh Amanda when did you get here?"

"Like 10-15 minutes ago. Are you okay, you seem on edge."

"No- yes I'm just- all of these boxes everywhere are just driving me insane. And with everyone coming over I have to move them out here or in the room. It's just a lot and on top of all of that- never mind I'm just tired." Watching Olivia fight with herself and emotions was different to see from Amanda's perspective.

"Liv, it's just the squad. I'm sure none of us are gonna care about a few boxes. You've seen all of our houses. They're usually a mess but who cares. I think you just need to sit down & take a break."

"No, I only have three more boxes to go. Thank you though."

"Well have Dominick or Edgar help you."

"They are busy. Really Amanda I'm almost done." Olivia made her way past her.

"Olivia!" She was greeted by her best friend; La'Mai.

"Hi, I can take your coats."

In the kitchen Fin and Edgar were talking. "Aye what's up with Liv? She's acting all weird."

"Your guess is as good as mine. She's been off all day." Dinner went by very slow. Olivia hadn't said more than five words. "Yo, Cap you good?"

"Yeah."

"Well I know you guys didn't invite us over for nothing." Fin spoke.

"Well-"

"Edgar can you wait just a second. I'll be back guys." She rushed into the room and took her sweater off, making her baby belly obvious. A series of shocked faces and gasps filled the room. Kat and Edgar were the only ones smiling. She sat down at the table like nothing even happened. "Where were we?" Nobody wanted to ask, because if they were wrong they would be being offensive.

"Right. So we wanted to wait to tell you guys, until she was cleared. But We're having a baby!" Their faces went from shocked to wide smiles. "I'm sorry, we're having two babies." He corrected himself.

"How come you didn't tell me!" La'Mai said still in the state of shock. "We are best friends. How did I miss that, I should have known. I can't believe I missed that. Congratulations!"

"Congratulations guys!" Amanda exclaimed.

"Congrats man, you're gonna be a dad." Christian said.

"It's about time you told them." Kat added.

"You knew? She knew! Before me!" La'Mai jokingly said. Acting like she was hurt.

"I knew before Edgar knew. I would just like to say that all of you should be fired. You all are or were detectives. And you couldn't figure this out." Kat joked around with them.

"I'm not a detective..." La'Mai said.

"You're her best friend." Kat came back at La'Mai. They were obviously kidding around and just messing with each other. Nothing serious.

"She's got you there." Olivia spoke up.

"You're supposed to be on my side. Remember... best friend." She emphasized best friend. Everyone laughed, Olivia acted like she forgot about the ring. Just to get through the rest of the night. After everyone left and Edgar put Noah to sleep, he pulled Olivia into the room to talk. "We need to talk."

"Is there something wrong?" Please don't let him realize the ring is missing. Olivia thought.

"I don't know. You tell me. Since the moment we left the mall you have been in a mood and when we got back from the store you were upset about something."

"Do you promise not to get mad?"

"It depends."

"Okay please don't be mad. But I can't find the ring you gave to me for Christmas. I've looked everywhere for it. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I don't even know when it got lost. We've been moving all week what if it's at my apartment or in one of these hundreds of boxes. What if I can't find it. I always keep it on my key chain now because it's too small and- What's so funny? Why are you laughing?"

"Because I have it." He got up and grabbed the bag out of the drawer. "I got you the right size. I know you loved wearing it, so while we were at the mall I figured it'd be nice. You should have just told me. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you."

"Oh my gosh. I've been going crazy for the past five hours trying to find it."

"Well it's right here. No worries."

"Thank you baby. I'm sorry I've been in a mood. I really try to be in a good mood and try not to take out whatever I'm feeling on you and Noah. It's just I think they find pride in making me mad and cry. But today everything just built up. I'm really sorry. Just tell me next time if I'm too moody."

"If only it were that easy. But it's okay. Today was really the only bad day so far. So you've done good at keeping your emotions in check. But it doesn't bother me. I know it will eventually pass over."

"Thank you for being so understanding. I love you so much."

"I love you more. Now let's go to bed."
