Disclaimers: I don't own Kaichou-wa Maid-sama!
A/N: Oh, I made some changes with the eye color by the way. But I think, in the anime, Aoi's eyes are really red? Or was it actually Sakura's? I'm not sure. But there's no harm experimenting, right? As for Igarashi Tora's eyes, I notice in the anime that his green eyes had that sort of gold spark in them so I describe it as golden green or gold-green.

The Grim Reaper
Seven:
I groaned when I felt the pounding aches in the sensitive nerves of my entire system and quickly covered myself with the blanket, trying to brace myself from the cold November wind. It has always been like this. Whenever I would use what I hold within my eyes too much, I would always end up in a disastrous and sickly situation. And I never really like catching cold because it just makes my eyes, cheeks and nose go puffy until I look like a badly beaten dog. I shivered, glaring heatedly at the air conditioning unit in my room and dragged myself off the bed so I could turn it off when the door leading to my room swing open and blurted out Shizuko and Sakura.
"Let's go to the—ohmigosh!" I was startled upon hearing Sakura's voice and since I don't want to be seen when I look like this, I quickly dove back to the bed and dragged the blanket with me to cover my entire figure because I don't want them to see me look like a harpy. Thank God the lights were out.
Sakura stepped into my room and flipped the light switch on and I was blinded when I bright light flooded the room. I had to hand it to her. Despite the extremely cold weather, the girl just had the guts to pull out a summer attire when it was obvious with the way she was shivering she was uncomfortable with what she's wearing. I wanted to throw in some nasty remark but the cough that escape my throat was a good significance that I'm in no better shape to fight her in a battle of wits.
"Just what the hell is wrong with you?!" she all but snarled at me. "Had I not recognized your ugly figure, I would have thought you're a friggin' banshee!" she walked towards me but paused halfway when I back away, alarmed. Her forehead creased. "What?"
I shake my head. "I'm sick." I winced when my voice came in gruff and hoarse. I coughed again. "Don't come near me. I'm sick. I don't want you to catch my cold."
"Well, you think so little of me, don't you, Ayuzawa? I'm your friend. I don't care if I get the same cold. It's a good excuse to take a good leave from school. Come here and let me see your ugly face."
But I still back away. "N-No. You don't understand." I shake my head furiously and considered running to the built-in closet for refuge. If Sakura's pretty forceful today, I would have no choices left but to charm her into submission. "Don't get too close. It's really pretty bad. I don't want you to catch it."
Sakura glared at me, her red eyes obviously miffed.
"Do you need medicine?" Shizuko asked all of a sudden. I could see she sense something was indeed wrong with me so she finally decided to butt in. "We're going to Central Town. Do you want us to bring you anything?"
I racked my brain for something to eat but my throat just felt so stark and dry that I doubt I could eat anything. I shake my head. "Medicine is fine."
"Okay. We'll see you in a few."
Sakura disappeared to the door and she returned to my room with a glass of warm milk and some strawberries I didn't know we actually had. She placed it on my bedside table and smiled sheepishly at me. "Eat that, you loser and try to calm yourself." She got my phone from my bag and placed it on the table, too. "If something comes up, call us immediately. I'm on speed dial 1."
"Sure. And thanks."
"Whatever. If you're going to get sick, you shouldn't have played hero and saved someone's ass." She waved one hand in irritation before she grabbed her huge purse from the floor and walked towards the door. The loud banging of our front door was a huge significance she left ahead of Shizuko.
Shizuko entered my room and stared at my horrible appearance before she exhaled. "Can I see it?"
I shake my head. "I look ugly. You'd get scared."
"I can take it."
"You're pretty forceful today, Kaga." But she gave me that expectant look so I was left with no choice but to give in and show her how I look like once I've overused the curse. She stared at me for a concise second and for the briefest of moments, I thought her eyes rounded momentarily. I got the blanket again and covered my entire face. "I told you its ugly."
She looked away as though to recollect her thoughts before she nodded. "It's ugly, indeed." She agreed with me quietly. When she was finally calmed, she stared back at me again. "What happened to your eyes? Why is it… like that?"
I sighed. "Retribution. If I overused the curse, it would reflect back to me through my eyes again. It would slowly absorb the color of my eyes and turn it into a fierce shade of black and cover all the spaces. That's why I don't want Sakura to see. She'd get scared"
"I bet she would."
Well, at least she's being honest. "You should go." I jumped back on the bed again and curled into a ball, my knees pressed into my stomach as I did the fetal position. "Don't keep Sakura waiting. She might bite your head off."
"Will you really be fine on your own?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I just need to sleep it off until it wears away. The shade of my eyes will return after a few more hours."
"Okay. I'll bring over some food and medicine for your cold."
"Thanks."
"I'm speed dial 2." She flipped the light switch again and I couldn't be any more thankful when I was surrounded by nothing but darkness again. From the mirror before me, I could almost make out the horrifying glow of my black eyes—like those vampires in 30 days of night—and without thinking, I motioned the curtains to block the entire floor-to-ceiling windows to barricade the light of the moon that was entering my room that makes me see how mortifying I actually look.
I shut my eyes closed again and hope for a good night rest.
.
Had I not known that gossip here spreads a lot faster than dry bush fire, I would be questioning the gazes being thrown on my direction. I know I wasn't everybody's favorite person but that doesn't make it enough of a reason for them to stare at me that way. I mean, is this the first time they'd seen me hanging out with Shizuko, Sakura and Hideki? I decided to ignore the stares and continued making my way towards my English subject and felt my bracelet heat up again so I discreetly started rubbing it to make sure it wouldn't react negatively in such a public place.
I notice the unease in Hideki's face and the way he couldn't seem to stare straight into my eyes and somehow, I felt my heart sank. Now this is what I get for thinking everybody would accept me. They are all not like Shizuko. She's the only person here who actually accepted me for who I am and is honest with me about what she really thinks.
Maybe, I should really leave. Maybe, there's really no way out of this curse. Maybe—
"Oh, look, it's Ayuzawa." I paused upon hearing Kaon's voice and quickly stopped walking. I didn't know why I stopped but there was that feeling in my veins again that seemed to be screaming out for Kaon Umekoji. Like I've known her for some time now. That face… I'm sure I've seen her before somewhere. But where? She sneered at me along with her friends Raimi, Haru, and Nayumi—I remembered they were members of her team during that fateful volleyball game—and I wondered why the school actually allows their attire. They actually looked like they are going to a party instead of attending school.
I forced out a smile at her. "Good morning—"
"What the hell do you want?!" Sakura snarled beside me and I couldn't help but sigh. All hopes of a decent conversation went all down the drain because of her little outburst. But well, that's Sakura for you.
Kaon stared at Sakura momentarily before she actually chuckled. She brushed back a strand of brown hair off her pretty face and started checking her nails. I sighed; you thought you really know someone until they show their true colors. "My, that isn't a nice greeting at all, Hanazono-san. I thought you've gotten kinder after your fiancée showed up in our turf."
Oh no, not the fiancée card.
I grabbed Sakura's elbow just when she's about to launch herself to Kaon who still looked undaunted and stares back at Kaon. "Well, you called out my attention. I'm sure you've got a reason for doing that."
She looked me in the eye, and I wondered why there was something about her eyes too before she chuckled. "I heard about your little stunt in the Northern Forest with dear, little Maria-chan. My, aren't you just a remarkable hero? Are you trying to make a name for yourself here?"
"I'm not. I just happen to be passing by."
"Oh. In the Northern Forest? Since when did it become accessible for students?" she turned to Nayumi and arched one inquiring eyebrow. "Do you know when, Naya?"
Nayumi shrugged. "I heard it became accessible for losers like her." that and they started laughing as though what she said was something terribly funny. And they just looked so comical that I couldn't help but laugh too. They paused. Nayumi glared at me. "What's so funny?"
"I have a goldfish once." Shizuko muttered absentmindedly.
We all turned to her and in sync, "What?" even Hideki looked confuse.
Shizuko stared at the four before us before shrugging. "I thought we're talking about trivial matters. Umekoji, your group seems to have a lot of time in their hands. Why don't you spend it trying to do one good deed everyday instead of dressing up like skunks at school?"
Hideki coughed at that, trying to hide his amusement while Sakura was obviously and openly trying to hide her own snickers. I stared down at Kaon's outfit and notice she looked like she was about to go to some dance party.
Next to me, Sakura burst out laughing. "Hey, Umekoji, are you preparing to go to a ballroom party? That dress just screams out like it."
Kaon rolled her eyes and started looking around before she eyed me again with that glare that just makes me hate her even more. She was just so mean I can't believe I was taken in by her sugarcoated words! "Wow, you've got friends to defend you. Have you got them all under a temporary charm?" she emphasized the word charm that made me paused and wonder if she's aware of some things she shouldn't really know. Even Shizuko stopped smirking next to me. Although for bystanders like Nayumi, Haru and Raimi, her expression seemed more neutral than comical.
I resisted the urge to glower at her. "What did you say?"
She laughed at that. Clearly, she won this round. "I'm saying you better watch your back." She hissed the words at me and took steps forward. But I was undeterred. There's no way I'd be intimidated now. Not when I've suffered enough. "Just go and enjoy this hero complex you have. Because last thing I heard, there weren't any good news about your existence here." she leaned closer and I was tempted to pushed her off if only what she wasn't saying isn't vital. "And last thing I discovered, those men are in their right state of minds to end up beating each other up to their deaths." She finally leaned away and grinned at me in a real menacing way. "Watch your back, Ayuzawa. You don't know when your own curse would turn against you in bite your ass."
I was about to retort to that but a binder suddenly find its way between Kaon and I and when I look up, my forehead creased when I saw Kanou-kun placed his binder between our faces. He darted me a quick glance before he stared at Kaon and her little demons who quickly took three alarmed steps away from us.
"P-President!" Raimi says in astonishment before she smiled anxiously and bit her lips. "We were just… we were just talking with Ayuzawa-san and her group."
Sakura snorted at that. "Talking? Last thing I remember, you were asking for a fight—your idiot leader, that is."
Kanou's usually stoic expression turned from neutral to negative as he stared at the three who were hiding behind Kaon who despite looking undaunted, still look slightly rattled. "Umekoji, no fighting within school grounds. You know that rule, don't you?"
Kaon smiled at that, but nods anyway. "Of course. Hanazono-san here just exaggerates a lot of things. We're not here for a fight. We were just, as what Raimi said, talking." She smiled at our direction again, but her eyes were sharp and annoyed, before she lowered her head and walked past us.
I exhaled and yet, that didn't make me feel any more relieved. Why? Why did she mention some things about the curse? There's no way she could know something like that, right?
"Thanks for arriving on time, Kanou." Hideki said before exhaling in relief. "Umekoji-san seems to be more high-strung today than usual. I don't know how to handle situations like this." Kanou nodded while Hideki eyed me. "Feeling better, Misaki?"
I blinked, surprise. "Are you talking to me?"
His forehead creased. "Uh… yes. Why?"
"Forget her. She's temporarily feeling stupid today." Sakura bit out sharply before crossing her arms over her chest. "That Umekoji and her little groupies, what's wrong with them today? How did they learn about what happened to you and Maria last Saturday?"
I shake my head. "I don't know. And I don't care. I just want to rest." Clearly, I was feeling extra tired today. I guess my cold hasn't gone down yet. I sighed only to end up freezing when I felt Kanou's hand on my forehead. I looked up at him glumly. "I'm good, don't worry. I won't spread my disease around."
"You should have taken the rest of the day off." Shizuko said. "You're still probably sick although your eyes are already better."
"Huh? Her eyes? What happened with her eyes?"
I glowered at Shizuko for the slip and smiles at Sakura before adjusting my bag on my shoulders. "You know what? I should probably leave. I'm not really in the mood to attend morning classes because the headache just makes everything go worst."
"Are you going back to the dormitory?"
I shake my head in response to Shizuko's question. "Nope. I'm going out somewhere where I could see a lot of clouds and feel better. I'll see you all at lunch period."
I bid them all goodbye even if I know Sakura was about to voice out her protests again. I was just too tired to deal with a lot of English and Maths. Just for once, I thought I wanted to rest.
.
I was allowed into the empty soccer field since there weren't any students using the area. And thanked the gods too since the appointed guard was absent with a cold, too. Thus, when I found my way into the familiar field and realized it was actually a good spot for sight-seeing (the clouds, I mean) I quickly ducked through that secret entrance Sakura had led Shizuko and I into and went up the bleachers before running like an idiot around the field to regain my stamina. When I felt the restraints in my lungs, I throw my bag somewhere nearby and slumped down on the cold and slightly grassy field, throwing my arms and legs all over the place, looking so out of the place in this huge dome since I looked terribly like an idiot.
But I could care less if somebody sees me that way. Right now, there's a few minutes of peaceful silence and I wanted to enjoy it before I get killed by stares again once I joined the others for lunch later. And whatever Maria's relationship is with Usui Takumi, I'm quite sure he had known by now what transpired Saturday afternoon and I don't really want to see him right now because I'm still feeling sick and if he opens his smart mouth again to tease me, I might really end up blowing a fucking fuse.
I cringed at the profanity that came out my mouth. I wasn't usually this violent until I met Usui Takumi and experienced his annoying antics.
I must have fallen asleep for a couple of minutes because nothing else registered my head but the fluffy clouds above me that gave emphasis to the cold weather when the faint light disappeared before my face, another stress that someone was with me in the field and is peering at me. I was about to go and open my eyes but Usui Takumi's voice echoed in my head and for some reasons I'm not sure of, I felt myself relax.
"I heard you're sick." He said, his voice was dull yet amused.
I remained still on my spot since I was comfortable, making no move that would imply I was awake but he continued peering at me and that, ladies and gentlemen, made me suddenly conscious. I slowly snapped my eyes open and met his alluring green orbs. "My, aren't you a curious one?"
He rolled his eyes at that and finally leaned away. I heard his bag being thrown off somewhere before he slumped back on the ground, too, and imitated my position. I shut my eyes close, feeling the last waves of lethargy being thrown off to oblivion before I started rubbing my eyes again. "Why weren't you in class?"
I shrugged. "Why do you care? Just because you're Authority here, does that mean I'm going to be reported for skipping two classes?"
"I might." I felt him shrugged. How near was he at me? "Are you sick?"
"I'm perfectly fine, thank you. I didn't know you weren't that busy to listen to rumors about me."
"Will you stop being sarcastic for one moment and have a decent conversation with me?" his voice was dripping with irritation, but if it weren't for the awkwardness and uncertainty in it, I would have taken him seriously. His sigh was heavy. He looked obviously distress.
I snapped my eyes open and stared at him. He was seated next to me, and there something about the way his back was hunching that made me think he was uncomfortable with something. My forehead creased at that. "Are you okay?"
"What makes you think I'm not?" he shot back irritably.
I have to laugh at that. What an inconsistent fool. "Decent conversation, remember?"
Takumi exhaled. "Why weren't you in class?"
I shrugged. "Headache. I caught a cold last Saturday. You shouldn't be anywhere near me. You might catch my disease."
"I don't particularly care."
"What are you doing here? I thought we're supposed to be staying away from each other?"
"We are. But clearly, you were just in for more trouble when you did that for Maria." I paused upon hearing her name and I realized the unease he was feeling was because of what I did to that Maria person. He snapped smoldering green eyes at me and he looked like he was choking when he said, "Thank you… for whatever it is you've done for my sister."
Sister?! That was her sister?! What an irony! Do they really have to be all blonde? I was suddenly unease, too, but I set that aside and tried my best to look apathetic. "How did you know that it was me?"
"I'm Authority here, remember? No matter how much Suzuki and the others try to fabricate the situation, I would know if they were lying or not."
I frowned. "I see. We're back to the Authority thing, huh?" I got up to check the time and realized I just slept for hours and quickly fumbled around in search of my bag because the blood stuck in my head had blindsided me momentarily. I was dizzy for a moment and I frowned when Takumi rolled his eyes at me and leaned over to reach out for my bag and gingerly handed it to me as if it was the most disgusting thing he had touched his entire life. And even if he looked like he's been stabbed by a fork, I still thanked him. "Thanks."
He grunted at me and got up too but something stumbled out of his bag and when I reached over to take it, I realized it was notes. My forehead creased. "You take notes? Weird. I thought you're as smart as everybody claims you were."
Usui Takumi snorted at that before he got the filler and slam it on my head. "That's your notes, stupid. You missed out two classes. The least thing I could do is take some notes for you."
I laughed at that, but pauses for a moment. "You've take down notes for me? Wow. That's… you don't have to—you shouldn't have bothered."
I notice that familiar tinge of pink that colored his nape again to the tips of his ears before he shrugged as casually as he could. "I didn't take down your notes. Someone volunteered to do it for me."
"Ah, the badass act, huh?" I scanned through the long list of notes taken and pitied that unfortunate person who was unlucky enough to fall prey into Usui Takumi's hands and was forced to take down notes for some as insignificant as I am. When I was done scanning the filler, I stuff it in my bag and bolted right up on my feet, stumbling a bit because my coordination hasn't returned yet. Usually, when I was done overusing my curse, the coordination returns after an entire month of acting cripple and life threateningly clumsy. But Usui Takumi had to be there and catch me right when I was about to fall and it was… disconcerting.
I was almost electrocuted when I felt his warm hand circle around my elbow and pull me up before I collided down the ground again. I glanced up at him, instantly tantalized by his green eyes that without thinking, I just yanked my elbow back and pretended as though I was dusting dirt off my pants. "Thanks."
"Half an hour."
My forehead creased. "What?"
He patted his water-resilient wristwatch. "We've got half an hour left before the last subject before lunch ends. And I certainly don't want to spend it laying around the grass with bugs crawling all over my coat." He pretended to cringed and somehow, I just laughed. He turned green eyes on me again. "I'm starving."
"What do you want me to do?"
He snorted at that but I couldn't really follow him so he sighed, defeated. "Do you want to go out and eat with me somewhere?"
Oh.
"Fine." I got my bag and started following him when he walked out of the vicinity of the field. We went through various loops and just when I was about to scream out "Jerk!" because he seemed to be leading me around, I realized we actually took a shortcut route and we were now standing up front McDonalds.
Oh.
He snorted at me. "What? It's the nearest food joint here. And I like burgers."
"No need to tell me that." I walked ahead of him and into the joint. There weren't many students around and I was somehow relieve because if there are actually students around and saw me having an early lunch with Usui Takumi, that might come out worst since everybody here likes to spread false news. I headed right straight to the counter and ordered a big fat and juicy cheeseburger and some fries and a huge cup of Coke and gingerly stepped aside when Takumi suddenly shove me away so he could place his orders too.
My forehead creased when he fished out his wallet. "What are you doing?"
"Paying for our meal." He rolled his eyes at that and I had the strong urge to chuck him with the fry on the tray. He was about to fished out a bill but I was quick as I got my card from my pockets and swiped the amount into my mother's card and got the tray with me, trying to ignore Usui who looked like he was ready to murder me if it weren't for the few witnesses in the joint.
"What was that all about?" he snarled as he ripped his coat off and throw it angrily on the vacant chair next to him.
I sat down properly and got my burgers and fries before something evil possessed him and I end up in a starve position since he was so much to even eat my own food. I slurp from my Coke through the straw and smiled at him. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Polka, you're so annoying." He didn't touch his burgers at once because he briskly pushed up the knitted sleeves of the sweater he was wearing and I couldn't help but gape at the newly exposed pale flesh before me. I forced my mouth close before he noticed I was eyeing his skin. I've seen him naked before but that was from a distance. And seeing the pale skin on his muscled arms just reminds me of the time he was playing for the tryout.
I busied myself with the view outside.
After a moment of silence, Takumi seemed to have finally calmed himself because he finally spoke again. "I gave Maria your contact numbers."
"Oh." But then, I paused. "Why did you have my number?"
"Does it matter?" clearly, he was still annoyed. I didn't try to push him further. "Maria is what matters. Get your head out of the gutter and reflect on what you did for Maria. You're on everybody's hit list now."
I nodded at that. "I'm used to being targeted by a lot of people. I've experienced that for the last few years of my life."
He was about to take a bite on his bagel but as soon as I said that, he halted. He glanced up at me, green eyes ablaze with curiosity and I instantly regretted saying those words. What I did was a slip of the tongue! "What did you say?"
I feigned ignorance. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You're always targeted, you said that."
I frowned at him. "I don't remember saying that." We had a glaring match for a couple of seconds before he blinked and shrugged it off. But I wondered if he wasn't really affected by my eyes. I know it was dangerous but I just had to know. "What do you feel whenever you're staring into my eyes?"
"Peeved."
Annoying bastard. I ignored him for that and finished my meal before I started munching in the fries. I've always been in love with fries. Dad was good with cooking fries. I risked a glance up at Takumi and was instantly caught up by his profile. He was really good-looking but I wouldn't be caught dead admitting that. I'd rather embrace a live wire instead of being caught in admission that he, indeed, has remarkable looks despite his arrogance. I regarded the eyelashes that accentuates his prominent cheek and wondered why he was so beautiful without having to put effort on it. Everybody loves him and adores him. Just what is it with Usui Takumi that makes everybody adore him?
For all I know, he's a superficial, ice cream stealing badass who goes around suspecting students for things they never did in the first place and likes to peek on bras of vulnerable girls.
"Stop staring at me." I glanced up to meet green annoyed us and was taken aback by the spark in his eyes. I blinked as though I was electrocuted before I focused my eyes on the few fries left in the box and tried to calm my raging heart again by drinking down the entirety of my Coke.
"I'm done. I'm leaving first." I fumbled for my things, confused by my own confusion that when I bolted up on the floor, I realized Usui Takumi was already up on his feet too with his coat on and is already waiting for me to get everything done. "What? I thought you're still hanging out here?"
He shrugged, that adorable shade of pink was visible on the tips of his ears again. "I'm not, stupid. I actually came here looking for you."
"Look, if it's about Maria, I'm not after anything, okay? I know you're worried about that but—"
"It's not about Maria."
I paused. "What?"
"You know what, stop being annoying and come on. I'm returning to the Academy. Don't be a pig head and just come back with me."
My mouth was hanging open like a fish because I've just been reprimanded by some guy I don't really like. With irritation radiating off my skin, I followed the annoying moody madman walking back to the field.
.
"I'm not gonna say this one last time—"
"—and I'm going to say this one last time, too. NO!"
Takumi cracked his knuckles as he glared daggers at me. "Get on the frickin' bike, Polka."
"Pervert!" I screamed heatedly. "How dare you call a woman using the pattern of the underwear she wears? And you think I would really be caught dead riding that… thing!" I glared at his motorcycle in disguise and was instantly reminded of the accidents I'd watch on TV about motorcycles accidents and how there's little chance of survival when you get into one. I glared back at Usui Takumi again. "And you, I didn't know you were licensed to drive something as… hazardous as that! Is that even allowed to drive in school?"
He was still looking murderous. "I've got school license to drive this, okay? Get on."
I steeled myself. "NO." and it was absolute. We've got lunch period going on. There's no need for me to hurry. And it only took me about half an hour or so to reach the soccer fields from the educational facilities. I look back on the path I've previously take and took note of the huge parking lot I've crossed and the small part of the Northern Forest that was stretching from the dorms to the Academy itself. It was all easy, no doubt. I could make it in the food court for about… yeah, half an hour.
Beside me, Takumi bristled. "Get on the frickin' bike, Polka. I wouldn't crash this expensive thing just to kill you."
I glowered back at him. "Call me Polka again one last time." I threatened angrily.
"Ayuzawa."
But that didn't deter me. Even if the way he called me sent abnormal shivers up and down my spine, I wasn't deterred. Once again, I'd rather embrace a live wire instead of riding that… Harley. The vehicle was a death contrivance, for goodness sake! It's like I've jumped into my own death by agreeing to ride that!
I slung my bag over my shoulder properly and smiled at Usui Takumi who looked thrice as ready to knock me off my ass. "You can go jumped to your own death for all I care by riding that… thing and I could care less about it. I'll walk and that's final."
He shrugged, but he still looked pretty pissed off. "Fine."
"Fine."
I started to walk off, thankful that he didn't bugged me anymore or I'd really end up punching him right straight on the kisser, when the sound of his bike echoed all around the place. I ignored him, certain that he had given up and that he'd finally leave me alone when something hard and cold wrapped itself against my waist and I was being dragged backwards and into an awful seating position for a woman. The air got literally got knocked off my chest and I was having such difficulty breathing when I felt Takumi's lips near my right ear.
"Don't move or I'd seriously throw you off like what I've been previously doing." He whispered threateningly against my ear and before I could even realize what's happening—again—the bike went moving with such speed that honestly scared the living shit out of me.
The wind slapped me hard by the face and it felt as if I was drowning since I was way too uncomfortable on my position—I've been slammed against his lap and it was so damn uncomfortable since I could feel everything he's hiding way, way, way, way down—and all I could do is clutched against his waist and cover my eyes or I might end up fainting or throwing up.
"I've got motion sickness, you jerk!" I yelled at him, surprised that I still have the courage to do something as screaming as loud as that.
He was laughing against my ear and damn was it uncomfortable—but confusingly and slightly pleasing—since his cool lips were already touching my ear, which is a part of my body, I'm most sensitive at. And besides, his laughter was the sexy kind of laugh that stimulates my skin and the arm that was wounded tightly around my waist sends shivers that keeps on running rampant up and down my body; making all my sensory nerves fully aware of his warm presence which is a complete opposite of my usually cold demeanor. I had to fight the urge to tilt my head so that his lips would finally touch my ear and settled on inching away from him but not letting go of my tight grip around his waist either since I was seated on a position wherein both my legs are dangling on one side only—yeah, really uncomfortable.
The hell ride went on for another couple of minutes until the harsh beating of the wind against my skin finally stopped and when I was certain that the bike has finally ceased running, I shove myself off of him and jumped off his bike. Irritation finally ate what's left of my conscience and before I could even stop myself, my fist came swinging around and I ended up punching Usui Takumi straight on the face—thank God he wasn't wearing a helmet or I'd completely humiliate myself.
I was still seething with anger even after punching him and my body screams for more. My hands shook and I fought another urge to claw on his face even if the only thing I wanted is to freakin' punched that annoying annoyed grin off his mouth.
"You don't dare do that to a woman, jerk!" I yelled at him and runs off towards the food court to where the others are where I know I'd be safest. The trip towards the area of the food court was fleeting. And when I was certain no once was watching, I slumped down on one vacant wood bench and clenched my fist tightly. I tried to stop the shaking of my hands because I was so certain it wasn't the cold or the adrenaline for riding damn Usui's bike. My heartbeat became too erratic and energetic it was almost harder to breathe.
In silence, I placed my hand above my heart and exhaled. What's wrong with me?
.
"God, why is this room," KICK! "—so frickin' messy! Ayuzawa, I did not volunteer to fix your room for it to get so pigsty!"
I ignored Sakura's ranting from my bedroom—I don't really know why she loves entering places that aren't her turf—and blow dried my hair inside the bathroom at the far end of our room before I got out to engage in a cat fight with her only to pause when I saw a rather familiar figure standing amidst our living room with an uncomfortable expression on his face. I stared at the familiar shade of red eyes and the arrogance that seemed to have been running in his system before I darted a quick glance on my bedroom and Sakura who's clad in nothing but her embarrassing chicken PJs. I regarded my own clothes and frown when I realized I was wearing nothing but some tattered shorts with a few loose threads on some old fabric of the legs part and a frayed shirt with an old print of My Chemical Romance.
"Um, Sakura?" I called out, hesitant. "There's a familiar guy in our room and he seems to be looking for you."
She came out like a hailstorm carrying the chicken bucket since we'll be doing movie night tonight and Shizuko was out buying popcorns with Hideki who will be joining us. "Who the hell issit?!" she lashed at me. "We are so not doing movie night in your bedroom! Who knows what kind of bacteria is festering and brewing and worst, reproducing in there!" she paused upon seeing me all stiff on my spot. "What?!"
I pointed out the guy behind her. "Your fiancée." I mouthed sheepishly.
"My… what?" she spun around to face our visitor—and I took note of the popcorn bucket on his hands—and gasped in exaggerated astonishment before she started running around like a crazy banshee and jumped back into her bedroom.
I smiled at Kuuga-kun. "Are you joining our movie night?"
He seemed surprise that I was talking with him and I laughed when he suddenly blushed. I really love blushing guys. Bah, it was all so unfair, indeed! He tried to look casual when he shrugged and placed the popcorn bucket on the center table and darted a quick glance on Sakura's room. "I heard her talking animatedly with Yuki about a movie night. I just dropped by to give this." He pointed out the bucket. "Good night."
"Thank you."
"Whatever." But it was so obvious he was embarrassed and wouldn't be caught dead doing this kind of thing for his fiancée.
I laughed at that, and run towards him to grin. "I like you. I'm sure you weren't as bad as what that Sakura was saying. You'll make a good husband."
He frowned at me. "I don't like you."
"I know. I don't like you that way, too." I smiled at him. "Thanks for this. Don't worry, I'll make sure Sakura would eat this all." He snorted at me and quietly walked out of our apartment without a backward glance. When I was sure he was gone, I turned to Sakura's room and started knocking. "Hey, you dork, your fiancée's gone!"
A short moment passed before her door creaked open and she peered out her head. "Really?"
I nodded. "Yep. You're one rude woman. You should appreciate him once in a while. He overheard you talking with Yuki about our movie night and went all the trouble to buy you some popcorn. Don't you think that was just so sweet?"
"Really?" she paused. "He really did that?"
"Yes. So, you should get out and chased after him to pass on your gratitude."
"I don't know how."
"What's wrong with you? Usually, you'd be screaming like a banshee and storm out of your room to punch Kuuga-kun on the face. Is there something wrong?"
She shakes her head glumly before she got out of her room and walked towards the center table where the caramel-flavored popcorn was seated in peace. She held it carefully with her manicured fingers like it was some kind of fragile thing before she exhaled. "Nothing. It was nothing at all."
My forehead creased, but I tried to set that aside because I don't really want to be caught in between matters of the heart. I'd do anything as long as I wouldn't be involved in anything heart-related.
But since she was my friend, I suddenly felt guilty for not helping her discover what needs to be discovered. Because surely, I'm quite aware ever since the soccer tryout, her attitude towards Kuuga-kun had changed.
.
I deliberately made this chapter short. Take note; do not take this story as seriously as you did with my last fic. :D. You wouldn't be able to enjoy the story so much if you think too much about it. :D. Just relax and enjoy, okay? Let me do all the magic and take you all in a one hell of a ride.
This is a new thing for me—this kind of genre. I've been planning this genre even before Kiss and Tell so, sorry if there were a few loose ends. :D.
Anyhow, I hope you like the genre even if Misaki had unintentionally killed a lot of people. But on the original manual—yes, I was manually writing stories, too—my real character has done more than killing people unintentionally. Unfortunately, she destroyed a lot of lives and avenged her entire clan who suffered from the eye curse before she faced the ultimate culprit who cursed her to become the way she was now. :D.
The rest of the secret will be explained as the story goes on. :D. Don't be impatient. The length will be based in accordance to how long their romance and discovery of her curse will progress. But I was still thinking of making this a fifteen to twenty chapters only because I need to finish this before school starts. :D
Thanks for the reviews!
Tell me what you think, okay?
