Narrator: When face-to-face with our greatest enemy, will the tides turn and friend become foe, or will foe become the defeated? When chaos of evolution is apparent, which tide to take?

(The Woman makes it to the rooftop as it's the only exit, but once the door closes and locks her out, she's met with a thunderbolt near the side of her face which causes her to yell.)

Christina: This next one is going straight to your heart to match the scars you've inflicted on us WHEN YOU LEFT! (Charges a thunder bolt) Mom… why did you leave?

(Between the two of them- [Confrontation])

Ryan: Christina, she's our mother! Stop it right now!

Christina: I can't deal with this right now! (Grabs Ryan and shocks him unconscious)

Mother: (In shock) Chris…

Christina: Start… Talking…

Mother: (Exhales deeply) Chris- your brother and you…

(She begins pacing back and forth after the fourth step, Christina blasts a full power bolt of electricity on the ground about 20 feet from her mother's feet and it triggers a powerful explosion which caves in a piece of the roof. Christina's mother rapidly gasps for few seconds and looks at the arms on her hair standing up. She flips her arm over and notices a tiny streak of burned flesh going across her arm. She looks over at her daughter and sees nothing but a fit of rage in her eyes. She does not try and justify her ways, but she knows something else is in her daughter's face she needs to address first.)

Mother: (Faces Christina) You're angry and you did not deserve to be left like that. I never wanted children; I never wanted to raise the two of you, but I felt it was my duty to and so I did and ended up in one bad situation after another. You kids remind of the men I hate and who hurt me, but I still loved you both despite that. But being a mother to you too was hard work; the hardest thing being killing myself doing something I did not want to do deep down. Hate me all you want, but I'm not going to lie to you. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you as much as I could've been. I distanced my heart from both of you because I didn't feel it was safe to and by the end of it all, I proved to be a bad mother anyway. I overheard the two of you talking in the bedroom one night and after that conversation, I KNEW the two of you were going to be fine taking care of each other. (Sniffs and wipes her tears) I called Dan's old "buddies" from the past and staged my kidnapping. As much as I loved that man, he sadly got hurt in the process. I'm not the best mother in the world, and I admit that, I also know that I had a choice- to be a good mother and be seen as righteous in the eyes of the world, or purse my own happiness at the expense of being labeled a terrible human being.

(Christina slowly begins lowering her hand.)

Mother: This world has offered me nothing good, Christina. The only good things were what I gave myself, so with that, why would I seek their approval?

Christina: (Takes it all in and takes a moment to regulate her mind) I am angry at you… (Charges at her mother) and all I can do, is- (shoves her with her bare hands) express how much I hate you! You ABANDONED US! How can I forgive you?! I put my faith in you- WE put faith in you as our mom! And out of nowhere you left us out like dirty rags…

Mother: (Processes her daughter's words) Yeah. And you know, all I can do is hope that one day you forgive me. I'm not undermining your feelings or seeing them as unimportant, although I know it may seem that way. But, Christie, I wanna live the best life I possibly can before I die and I want you to do the same no matter what. Just learn from my mistake about hurting others because that's one thing you can get right, unlike me. Just don't put yourself in a situation like this that'll leave you with regret forever. I can't do anything to fix our situations, not without making the other miserable.

Christina: At this point, I know how you feel, so coming back to us will only make me guilty… so leave and we'll do fine on our own. We've made it this far.

Mother: You were captured, by this cult… you really think you'll be fine?

Christina: It's fine. You won't have to worry about it. (Thinks to herself for a bit) I don't know what that's like to feel the way you do and so I cannot blame you, but someone needs me… (Points toward his body multiple times and begins to cry) my little brother needs me because you WEREN'T THERE FOR US. And that's okay. (Soaks up her tears and straightens her face) I'm his protector now and I'll never turn my back on anyone I love!

Mother: I'm proud of you for sticking to your guns. He needs someone strong like that in his life, just don't follow in my footsteps and forget to live yours. You may be angry with me, until you learn to forgive me, your heart will grow into mine and you will follow my footsteps, just as I followed my mother's. (Turns around) I leave with that lesson because I do love you, Christina and you too, Ryan. But I do warn you… do not come find me again and do not get captured by these people again… You were lucky this time, but next time you won't be.

(She opens the door leading back into the building but her daughter stops her.)

Christina: Wait! Mom… Phoebe; I won't forgive you for this.

(Is tears her p inside to hear those words but she keeps a strong persona on her face.)

Mother: Than you're cursed to become me.

Ryan: (Deactivates his invisibility and runs up to his mother to give her a hug) I forgive you, mom. I know you're not a monster.

(She again does not express her truth authentic emotion but Ryan can tell how much his mother appreciated those words. She attempts to push him away but instead wraps one arm around him then pushes him off to the side as she enters the building. Once inside, she takes a few steps down the latter, then all of a sudden slips and falls all the way to the bottom to be met with a large-looking knife straight into her back and out of her chest. She looks down in confusion as to what has just happened. The sound of boots approaching is heard and a man stands right beside her to kneel toward her face.)

Joshua Jackson: You're really well protected in the underground. It wasn't easy finding you, but uh- (Casually pulls out a small gun and holds it up backward in his hand) –good thing I drew this moment.

Phoebe: What do you want from me?

Joshua Jackson: (Flips his pistol multiple times and lowers it) It's not what I want- you, ma'am, have to be dealt with.

Mother: Did… did you use my children to-

Joshua Jackson: We won't worry about the details but I was nice enough to give both you and your kids a chance to make up now I'll need you to come with me willingly or I'll have to do it by force.

Mother: I'm not going anywhere with you, you mon-

(Joshua shoots her in the leg without hesitation, sending her to the floor in pain.)

Joshua Jackson: I guess now I've gotta drag you.

(In another part of the underground arena, dozens of people are seen on the ground knocked unconscious. Hiro and Ando finish off the last few attackers then join the other two in the ring.)

Hiro: This place was an underground arena for special people to fight each other. This is- very sad.

Peter: Yeah, well these people must be operating under some authority. Maybe we can pick at one of them and find out more.

(Sylar is a little saddened by Peter's words but stays silent in hopes to keep his optimism intact.)

Hiro: That man that Rebel was looking for, maybe he might know.

Ando: (Snaps his fingers) Or maybe, he is the boss.

Peter: I saw West flying up to the roof; maybe we can find them up there.

Hiro: What about all of these people; we must take them somewhere.

Peter: Yeah, you're right. We'll split up.

Ref: Well… it seems you boys have gone and knocked out the audience… (Chuckles) but not the competition. The head of our security will deal with you. Now introducing…

(The Ref turns pale within an instant and before he's able to formulate a thought, is frozen in place and collapses to the ground.)

Peter: (Angered) TRACY, what was that?! (Rushes her)

Tracy: Well. He was a bad guy and chose THIS as his line of work. Peter, he wasn't going to stop here.

(Peter runs off to the side and throws up outside of the ring.)

Tracy: For someone who tried to kill his own father, you're really sensitive to dead bodies; aren't you?

(Tracy looks over at the other three who look in horror and the chunks of ice on the ground.)

Tracy: Did I do something wrong; I do this all the time.

(Ando goes to check on Peter and both Hiro and Gabriel approach Tracy.)

Hiro: That was a life. That could've had a family. He could've been a husband, father; brother, and you took hi away.

Tracy: Okay, look, Hiro; he chose this.

Hiro: Nobody chooses such a horrible fate. (Walks off)

Tracy: (Looks at Sylar) Don't say a thing about this to me.

Sylar: Don't worry, I wasn't planning on it; but Peter's a sensitive soul. You don't understand the depths of his ability. When someone dies around him, he himself isn't away that he's not dying himself. He is empathic and he is now forced to live on with the feelings of what this man felt before meeting his end. Because you were careless and took a life, someone else has to pay for it.

Tracy: (Guilty moans) I'll tell him I'm sorry later, but I found something in the basement you all would wanna see; meet me there. (Walks off)

(Peter falls to his knees hyperventilating and out of the blue begins coughing up blood. They all make sure he's okay and Sylat places his hand on Peter's shoulder.)

Sylar: Hiro, Ando, you two get outta here. Follow Tracy into the basement and see what she's found down there; I'll need to stay here.

Hiro: I honesty do not think I can stand to be around her at the moment. I will deal with these criminals.

Ando: I'll stay with Tracy…

(Hiro closes his eyes and teleports away.)

Gabriel: Peter…

Peter: (Breaking down in tears) That man didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve to go like that…

Gabriel: Peter… listen.

Peter: NO! (Sucks in his tears and tries to remain bold) I… I can't do this anymore… (Deeply exhales) I can't do this anymore. (Presses his forehead onto the ground for a few seconds) Tell me the truth, there is no leader, is there?

Sylar: … Peter, I honestly don't think so.

Peter: Why are people so cruel; why are they so mean to each other? It… it just isn't fair…

(Peter sits up straight, closes his eyes, and teleports away.)

Ando: Where did he go?

Sylar: Same place you went. Peter is understanding that the pain of this world is self taught. Who we are is how we affect this world and finding out who we are is always an internal journey.

(Peter teleports into his apartment bedroom and hears the sound of Kelly heaving in the bathroom. He then hears a thud and rushes in.)

Peter: Kelly?! Hey!

(Peter sees her on the ground slowly swaying her head back and forth while moaning.)

Peter: Kelly! (Rushes to her and supports her head) Hey, hey, stay with me, okay. You need to stay with me.

Kelly: P-eter? (Opens her eyes and smiles at him) Hey… I'm so glad you're here. I was sleeping so good and some people came in and injected me with something… I figured I'd wait until I saw you again to tell you so you could go back in time and stop them from doing it. But I can't focus, Peter… I barely made it here… I-

Peter: No, no, save your strength.

Kelly: (Places her hand on his face) I'm not okay… Peter, I feel myself dying.

Peter: You're not going to die; I'm going to save you, okay.

Kelly: Listen to me, Peter… Shantzy or something virus. Peter what's that…?

(Peter remains silent and cries over her in silence in a failed attempt to stay strong.)

Kelly: Peter…? (Fading)

Peter: I'm not losing another person. I'm not going to lose anyone else I love. I'm going to stop this. (Tears continuously fall from his eyes) Everyone I love dies… (Hugs her tightly)

Kelly: Peter… if you go back in time and save me, what happens to my soul? In this timeline, my fate is sealed, right? Even if you go back, that'll just be a different version of me, wouldn't it be…?

Peter: N-no… I…

Kelly: (Says gently) Shhhh… Peter, listen, I want with moment to count. I've enjoyed our time together and I am blessed to die in the arms of the one I love. Not many of us are blessed with such a departure. I don't think I'll have a death greater than this one… so with that being said… I don't want you to save me…

Peter: No… I can't willingly let you die like this!

Kelly: It's okay… I've accepted it. I'm at peace. Stop these people from hurting anyone else because that's the Peter I know… also… don't ever forget to love because you deserve it. And the more you shine, the brighter the world seems. Always remember that. You have to forgive yourself and let go of everything from the past. You have to move forward.

Peter: I was too scared to love… and I didn't realize how I truly felt about you until you were gone… I love you and I always will no matter what. The pain hurts deeply but a part of me wishes that I could feel the depths of grief again just to feel close to you. I wish I could've stopped all of this. I don't know if this was the best death for you, but I always will love you no matter what and I am so sorry I didn't fully tell you how I felt before losing you. I love you and I am saying that I'm letting you go, but I will always cherish the warm feeling you put in my heart. Goodbye and I love you.

(Peter just hugs her as she leaves this world silently.)

[Noah, Washington]

(In Washington, Bennett is seen entering a large fancy lounge room where the Red Queen and her Scowling assistant are seen sipping red wine. As Bennet approaches, her assistant gets up and buttons the bottom of his clean suit jacket and speaks to Bennet in his deep scraggly void.)

Assistant: Uh, that'll be close enough, thank you. If you have business, you may speak from there.

Kravid: Don't be so uptight, Harris. The man has just as much right to relax and have a drink as I do.

(Harris bows to Bennett.)

Harris: My apologies. (Sits back down)

Kravid: Come have a seat, Bennet.

(Bennet sits on the stool left of her.)

Bennett: (Says to bartender) Get me something light please. Thank you.

Kravid: So- (Takes a sip) Bennet- (Slowly faces toward him) What got you into this kind of business anyway- bagging and tagging I mean?

Bennet: (Takes a hard hit of his newly served drink) I had a wife and an unborn child who were killed by- one of them.

Kravid: Rough business. (Stares forward and takes a small sip) It's so easy blaming our misfortunes on what we don't understand. It makes dealing with it all so much easier, right? I guess it's what makes us, us. We feel remorse; we feel fear. THEY have all the power in the world and no one to stop them. If they wanted to, they could end this world with just a single thought.

Bennet: They could. (Gets a bit more comfortable) But what would be the gain in that?

Kravid: The gain would be that they wouldn't have to play by the rules. The only reason why humanity obeys the law is because we're afraid of imprisonment. (Looks over at Bennet) They can bust out of any jail they desire, so what's stopping them from taking us over? (Takes another drink)

Bennet: (Observes her drinking habit and politely pushes his to the side) It sounds like you've had some not-so-friendly history with some of these people as well.

Kravid: Let's just say I know what it's like to feel helpless against their kind.

Bennett: if you could do something about these specials, what would you do?

Kravid: I'd at lease even the playing field a bit.

Bennet: So you'd build a prison for people who have abilities?

Kravid: Indeed I would. As a matter fact, I've already proposed the idea to the President and he's all for it.

(Harris looks away in slight disappointment by how loosely she's telling secrets.)

Bennet: Honestly, I agree with you. We should have a separate prison for these people. They are dangerous and many of them need the reassurance that they are not invincible and can be contained.

Kravid: So if I were to tell you I was making a facility, you would be onboard?

Bennet: I don't like the motive, but I can also understand why it would be necessary. I've met some fairly dangerous individuals in my days.

Kravid: Mr. Bennet, how would you like to see a project I've been working on? (Smirks)

Bennet: (Grins) I'm always up for surprises.

Harris: Ms. Kravid, I'm afraid we're going to be late for our other arrangements for the evening.

Kravid: Of course, Harris, how could I be so careless? (Looks up at Bennet) Thank you for meeting with me, Noah. Let's chat again.

Bennet: (Raises his drink to her) Of course. You know where to find me.

[Unknown desert area]

(West flies down with the "Don" and the two tumble around the ground near the rest of his team.)

Micah: It's too bad you don't have super strength.

West: Yeah, I'd get less scabs on rough landings.

Sparrow: here's Monica and Abigail?

West: (Breathing heavily) They stayed behind; they'll be okay, though.

(Sparrow controls the earth around them and traps The Don's body in a case of rock from neck down.)

Don: AH, AH! Stop it! Stop it; no! The insects are crawling on me!

Sparrow: You are an insect, so you should feel right at home.

Don: (Terrified) I'm sorry; I'm sorry; I'll tell you anything; just don't kill me whatever you do!

Micah: Turn yourself into the police; you know it's the right thing to do! What you're doing is wrong!

Don: Turn myself in to the police?! (Chuckles) You know, I changed my mind; maybe you should kill me. (Nervously laughs) Y-yeah that beats the alternative!

Micah: We will leave you here- out in this desert to starve. You don't want that to happen.

Don: Do your worst, beasts. I won't be last you'll catch. We've been around decades and we will continue to exist in the shadows. All Hail the underground.

(His head begins and violently shake.)

West: Something's happening… RUN!

Don: AHHH!

(Micah grabs Don's forehead and holds it tightly.)

Sparrow: What're you doing, Micah?!

Don: Yeah, Micah! What're you doing?!

Micah: Someone put a chip in you…

Don: (Smiles) That's right.

Micah: It's remote activated. Someone was going to kill you for talking to us.

Don: (Smiles) We have reach in places you wouldn't think of… In case some of you were too strong or difficult to handle, we-

(Don's head drops and he instantly dies. Micah quickly backs away.)

Micah: S-omething's wrong. What was he talking about?

[Underground]

(Beneath the surface, Monica, Abigail, Ando, Sylar, and Tracy all find a long extended hall with prison cells etched into the walls. The all walk down the hall slightly disturbed by the number of individuals locked inside.)

Monica: This place is- a prison.

Ando: This must be where they kept their competitors.

Tracy: You can to that conclusion pretty quick.

Ando: I've been brushing up on my American history.

Monica: We can't just leave them here to rot like this- we have to rescue them.

Abigail: That might not be such a good idea, Mons. I-I know it sounds bad, okay… but-

Sylar: Don't let them go… (Stares at a prisoner with a look of disbelief)

Monica: What?! Why is this even up for discussion?!

Sylar: Because one of the prisoners I'm looking at, is someone I killed personally.

(A woman sits cowering in a corner trembling for her life.)

Elle: (Whispers) Sylar…

(Deveaux Rooftop, Bennet and Angela)

Noah stands on the top of the Deveaux building starring out into the city when Angela creeps up behind him.)

Noah: (Clears his throat and scratches the top of his right eyelid) Ya know, I never thought this is where we'd end up. You look back at your life and debate whether your accomplishments amounted to anything and before closure can be found- the whole world seems like a mysterious place all over again.

Angela: Except we're not children anymore, Noah. (Stands right beside him) We knew this day would come. Deny it all we want, it doesn't change the fact that we denied to accept the future.

Noah: Working with Erica- What should I expect?

Angela: Erica should be the least of your worries, Noah, you know that. Your daughter, Claire, if you remember her, needs you to be there by her side.

Noah: Being a rebellious teenager is one thing, Angela but-

Angela: Bun nothing, Noah! Talk to your child while you still can! I know if I had the opportunity to speak to Nathan again, I would cherish ever WORD. You don't get second chances like that! She may be able to heal but losing a relationship with her may be a wound which can never be mended.

Noah: Is this why you called me here, Angela?

Angela: I called you here to make amends and put this silly grudge behind you.

Noah: (Sighs) Where is she now?

Angela: Right in the other room, waiting for me to tell her when to come out.

Noah: … Okay.

(Angela leaves the rooftop and after a long moment of Bennet listening to the loud city beneath him, Claire come out onto the rooftop. Both she and Bennet stare at one another as Claire approaches.)

Noah: Claire, Bea-

Claire: Don't call me that anymore, please.

Noah: So you changed your name. How does it feel being full on Petrelli now?

Claire: Dad, can make a difference now, and I choose to play my part in this.

Noah: (Tries to hold himself back but fails to do so) You think people like you can live out in the open carefree, Claire, you can't. People will have their opinion and with those opinions come a self-generated form of justice and injustice. People are gonna worship you, they will hate you, and yes some will like you, but it won't change the fact that your actions led to the killing and butchering of thousands of people who would've been alive today had you not done what did! The world is divided more than ever.

Claire: Yes because they're scared!

Noah: They would've have to be if it weren't for you, Claire! Don't you get that?!

Claire: (Heavily breaths but stands her guard) I understand that in order for change to happen and for us to understand one another, we need to show the world we're here in peace.

Noah: (Walks away and rests his back on the edge) So you think tossing the world into chaos is how we're going to achieve peace? Many like you have tried-

Claire: And YOU locked them up! Nothing has worked so far so maybe your way was wrong and my way is more efficient! We're ALL scared us and you! Rioters, people losing rights, given special rights, which separate us as people! We're all feeling afraid right now, and angry, and hateful…! But now maybe instead of focusing on how bad these limited situations are, we can focus on overcoming those traits within ourselves now that they're out in the open. We have the opportunity now. Nothing changes in this world without some form of sacrifice! Groups have even formed to fight for our rights. These evo groups are going against the very idea of equality by forming their groups, but sometimes that's just the sacrifice you make for equality.

Noah: You're letting your personal beliefs and opinions block you from seeing what's important, Claire. The world is a mess now and-

Claire: YES! The world is broken; the world is shattered into a million pieces, but I'm choosing to make the best of it. All of us can do just that- make the world a better place but making ourselves better people through the tragic times. Peace is never a constant thing unless it's chosen to be so, otherwise we put our sense of happiness in the hands of media or people around us. In my position, I can bring positivity through influence, and so I will. To be a hero, I have to just show people what they can be for themselves and so that's what I'm doing. I'm fully embracing this new direction of my life for the better because I can't live the rest of my days with one foot in the past. I know the past and I am the present; so I'm forging my future.

Noah: I can understand that, Claire…

Claire: I'm not going to admit I was wrong, even though that's what you really wanna hear… I need to go now, but it's good to know who in this world really supports me. (Turns her back to try and leave)

Noah: There is no justification for what you did! People are dying now and that's all on you, Claire!

(Claire glares at her once known to be father and walks off without saying a word. Noah angrily takes off his glasses and leans over the balcony in deep anguish. Angela once again suddenly stands behind him with a look of disbelief.)

Noah: I don't want to hear it, Angela.

Angela: How dare you, Noah. You let your personal beliefs on life get the better of your common sense and vanquished whatever little you and Claire had left between the two of you.

Noah: You can't make me feel any worse than I already do, Angela, that much is apparent. (Cleans glasses with his coat and puts them back on) As always, as a parent, it's up to me to clean her mess up or at least contain it as best I can.

(Noah looks over at Angela and just sees fire in them starring back at him.)

Noah: (Sighs) I'm sorry, Angela. (Leaves the rooftop)

[Matt Parkman, Los Angeles]

(In Matt Parkman's home, Matt Parkman enters his kitchen to find his wife Janice pouring a cup of coffee. It leaves him a bit concerned.)

Matt: Coffee, at this time?

Janice: (Sighs) This new client I'm working with is stressing me out. I know I got into this profession to help people but sometimes I think to myself "man, is it really worth it?"

Matt: Sir down, come on. (Takes her coffee and guides her to the table to sit down)

Matt: Coffee is the last thing you should be drinking right now okay, you need to relax. (Takes deep breaths with her to calm her down) Relax; breathe. Remember our therapy sessions. I'm your partner through everything you're going through good or bad and when you're having a problem, we get through it together. (Holds her hands)

Janice: (Smiles) Thank you, honey. You always cheer me up just by being here for me.

Matt: And you know if you don't wanna work with this client you don't have to.

Janice: I don't know, Matt; clients don't always just show up on request and this check is pretty bi-

Matt: Forget all of that, but are you happy though?

Janice: Matt…

Matt: No, the only thing that truly matters is you're happy doing what you're doing and enjoying every day of your young life.

Janice: Young- I wouldn't go that far…

Matt: But you get my point, Janice. If something makes you feel dissatisfied about the whole thing, then don't invest yourself or time into it. At the end of this life all you're going to have are what you cherished about yourself and your memories, so you might as well make the best of them. Money won't be around on our deathbed, as grim as that might sound… sorry.

Janice: (Remains speechless for a few seconds) Uh… I guess you're right. I won't take it! (Chuckles)

(Matt JR walks into the kitchen, enters the refrigerator to grab a popsicle then leaves.)

Matt: Hey, Matty, did you ask if you could have that?! Matty? (Sighs) This kid… I swear. It's like talking to a wall.

Janice: Speaking of walls, maybe you need to break a few down.

(Matt enters his son's room and watches him eat a popsicle on his bed while starring at a wall.)

Matt: Matty. (Sits next to him on the bed) Whatcha got there, grape? That's the best one! (Chuckles but is met with silence) Matty, I don't- (Takes a second to gather his thoughts) I know I've been a distant father and I haven't been there.

(Janice quietly sneaks into the room and leans against the doorway.)

Matt: But the truth is, I am scared. My daddy- he left me and I didn't want to ruin you like my father did me. I love both you and your mother, I know that much, but what I don't know, is how to trust myself. I struggle with my own mind sometimes. I struggle being confident, and I don't know- I don't want to instill that into you. I don't even know if you can understand what I'm saying. I just want you to know that I'm never giving up on you, EVER.

(Matt JR does not look at Matt, but he twists his body and gives his dad a hug. Few minutes pass and Matt hears a knock at the front door. He answers it and it appears to be his boss.)

Captain: (Raises a file up to Matt's face) You next assignment, Parkman. The individual controls people like a puppet. Given what little we know about him, he shouldn't be walking the streets. He's already escaped captivity before; let's make sure it's the last time.

Matt: Yes, sir…

(Janice begins screaming in the back.)

Captain: Go handle that, Parkman; I'll be seeing you at the station. (Walks away without a concern)

Matt: Janice?! (Runs toward the back of the house)

(Matt gets to the back and sees Janice holding her heart in her bed room in front of Hiro Nakamura.)

Matt: Janice, what happened?! Hiro?!

Hiro: So sorry… (Dramatically bows) I promise I did not come to seduce your mistress!

Matt: It's wife, Hiro, not mistress, and what're you even doing here in my house?

Hiro: We have very big problem. But you are cop! You can make things right; play your part in righting the wrongs of the world.

(Hiro raises a card up to Matt Parkman which displays a strange symbol.)

I found this on one of the guards. Before coming here I looked around an underground facility used for people like us to duel to the death.

Matt: What? Underground Evo-fighting?

Janice: That sounds so sick.

Hiro: It is- VERY bad news. I came to you, Parkman to find a way to arrest these men.

(Matt grabs the card and thoroughly examines it in disbelief.)

Janice: Wait a minute, Matt, isn't that?

Matt: Yeah. It is… (Sighs and gives back the card)

(Matt walks over to his dresser and pulls out the exact same card.)

Hiro: Y-you know these people?

Matt: Know them?! HA, I've been working for them the last few months. (Tosses the card on the dresser)

Matt: I knew something wasn't right when I was offered that job. Things just didn't add up. (Takes a seat on the bed)

Janice: What so your boss tricked you into rounding people up with abilities and he's been, what, throwing them into an underground cock-fighting prison instead of prison like he said?

Matt: Basically yeah… and I could've stopped it if it weren't for me being so restrictive of my ability. I tried playing it straight; honest. But I was only made the chump all over again.

Hiro: It is not your fault; we all make mistakes, it is how we grow stronger form those mistakes is what matters.

Janice: (Sits beside her husband and hugs him for comfort) It's okay, Matt.

Matt: No… (Quickly gets up) No, Janice, it's not okay. No matter what I do, it's always the wrong thing! Heck even almost killing Sylar was apparently the wrong thing to do. I have to make this right, Janice. I can't just stand her moping about everything like I normally do. I need to be a good father and a good husband and it starts by fixing what I've done.

Janice: Wait, Matt…

Matt: Hiro, take me to the prison.

Hiro: Okay, hold on to me.

Janice: Hiro, behind you!

(Hiro is instantly knocked out with a solid punch to the face.)

Captain: Hiro Nakamura- what a catch… (Kneels toward Hiro)

(Matt attempts to push his captain off of Hiro but the captain pulls a gun on Parkman and points it at both Parkman and himself.)

Matt: No, Hiro!

Captain: Alright, Parkman, let's take a step back and chill for a moment. Now I'm done playing these games with you. You knew what you were getting into when you started this, don't deny you weren't aware! You are a mind reader after all. Now if I even see you slightly turn your head, this bullet is going straight through your wife. You can stop me from shooting her but then that'll risk your buddy. Make the call, Parkman, but know that all roads lead to Nakamura coming with me.

(The Captain pulls out a syringe and quickly stabs Hiro in the neck.)

Captain: Alright. (Puts gun and syringe away) Good choice.

Matt: What are you going to do to him? Tell me now. (Turns his head to him)

Captain: Take him to my superiors in hopes of having him dissected.

Matt: It's just like The Company all over again.

Captain: We're better than them, for one simple reason- we aren't afraid to get our hands dirty. Now if you would excuse me, Mr. Nakamura here must be detained. (Turns his back)

Matt: You're not going anywhere…

(The Captain turns around and shoots through his coat. Matt looks over beside himself and sees Janice starring a bullet hole going through her heart. She turns to Matt and tries to reach out to him.)

Janice: Matt…

(Janice tumbles to the floor and all Matt can do is scream out in agony while two random individuals with masks enter the room and knock him out with the back of a shotgun. Seconds pass and Matt's phone begins to ring. The Captain checks it out of curiosity and decides to answer it.)

Captain: Ah, the good doctor. Don't worry about Parkman; he'll be mine to deal with soon. For now, continue on your research, Suresh. (Hangs up)

(Both Molly and Mohinder sit at a table with plates of food in front of them.)

Molly: What did he say? Is it okay to come by?

Mohinder: Hang on, Molly, would you mind tracking Matt for me to see where he's at? A strange man answered his phone and seemed to know who I was.

[Church, New York]

(Peter stands in front of a church out in the cold rain. He enters into the church soaked from the rain and approaches the large cross. He can't help but to stare at the large cross in the room in anger. After a short time, the Father approaches and takes a seat next to Peter.)

Father: You seem troubled, child.

Peter: (Looks over at him with a look of anger) You're that preacher who's always on T.V. demonizing people who are special.

Father: Well… are you one of them?

Peter: It shouldn't matter. But being special isn't a sin.

Father: Being special, maybe not, but these people are dealt a hand in witchcraft and therefore must own up to the fact of being demons.

Peter: (Turns to him) It's amazing, my brother found God and came to the revelation that we may be- Angels, yet you- a man with following, have claimed to know God and call us demons. There's something not quite right about that picture.

Father: How do you think these people obtained these abilities? A researcher out of India has some interesting theories that trauma is the main source of their power. Whatever these individuals feel they lack, has been substituted by an outside influence which in terms make them supernatural. Pain is not God and pain embeds demonic entities.

Peter: (Scoffs) So you're saying pain isn't strength? How else do we grow when life kicks us when we're already down, huh?

Father: God's strength. Follow your own strength, and it'll lead you down a path of deception; a path of grandeur and never will it ever be true healing. No matter how much you feel you've moved on from any sort of pain, it still lingers- but with God's strength, it doesn't.

Peter: Well I can't be a slave to what it is you preach. God would be disappointed.

Father: Live not by your own understanding-

Peter: God also says to help those who are in need! Okay, let's for a second, okay, say that you're right about this whole thing! Don't you think demons deserve salvation too? Maybe demons also want to return to God's grace.

Father: Only through true repentance can they be saved. If these individuals possessed by demonic forces wish to be right again with God, they must deny these curses inflicted upon them and purge themselves of their impurities. Pain isn't power, boy; nor shall it be seen as such.

Peter: … (Paces back and forth) I've seen the devil- my father. He took from me the light I've always felt within me. I've felt broken since, not healed. If it weren't for that, maybe you could've convinced me. I- came here because I was lost and because I needed guidance on what I should do. I keep losing people I love and I cannot take another blow… You've honestly helped me see that my gift isn't pain turned into witchcraft; it's God finally being able to insert himself into my life.

Father: God doesn-

Peter: If God made us all perfect, then we wouldn't need him, would we? Clearing it's written, he wants to be a part of all of our lives. Pain is the only way God is able to get close to us. It gives him the opportunity to plant his seed and help us help each other. Maybe if we just got out of our own way and didn't hold on to the pain, we can truly see how every bad situation is only preparing us for something bigger. (Sighs) Sylar… I see what he was talking about…

Father: Demons, such as you, do not belong in this world- (Slowly reaches into his pocket for a syringe) –and if you thi-

(Peter's phone suddenly begins to ring. Peter answers it quickly and turns his back toward the Preacher.)

Peter: Mohinder?

Mohinder: Hello, Peter. Sorry for calling under such circumstances but we've got a situation dealing with Matt.

(Lightning lightly roars as time passes and Peter hangs up the phone. He turns back to the preacher.)

Peter: It isn't right what you're doing. And I'm wrong and I am a demon, then I'm more connected to God than even you are as a human. I choose to help this world; hopefully God will forgive me for that.

(Peter quickly runs out of the church.)

[Limo, Claire and Angela Petrelli]

(The car is awkwardly quiet and all that can be felt is the tension from the conversation between Claire and Noah.)

Angela: It's okay to be angry, Claire, but just know that your father will always hold you special in his heart. He's just had a lot built up for so long and let it all out in one burst.

Claire: How could you defend him?!

Angela: Maybe I'm just in denial- the fact that a parent could say something so cruel to their child during a crucial time disturbs me to my core. Honestly, Claire, I want to believe in the better of your father.

(Angela's cell rings an she answers it slightly confused.)

Angela: Rene?

Rene: Stop your car.

(Angela's driver pulls over seconds later and gets out of the car. Both he and The Haitian enter the back seconds later slightly wet from the rain.)

Angela: What's going on, Rene, what is this about?

Driver: Me, ma.

(Every looks over to see Nathan sitting in front of them.)

Angela: Nathan?!

Nathan: Ma, I'm here because I know what you did. You panicked. You had faith in your vision, but instead, you could've used Claire's blood to heal me.

Angela: Nathan, I am so sorry.

Nathan: No more tears, ma. I shave cheated death too many times and there was a reason you didn't think to use Claire's blood. It was my time to go.

Angela: No… Nathan.

Nathan: Mom, stop… God saved me many times, but you've gotta let me go. I came here today, ma, to tell you that I forgive you. Do not blame yourself over the circumstances. I was blessed to have been here as long as I have been, but now's the next step of my journey. Forge yourself, ma, or neither of us will be able to move on.

(Nathan turns to Claire.)

Nathan: You're always gonna be my daughter, Claire and I'm always going to love you. Do not let this world intimidate you because you are stronger than it. (Gently wipes the tear from her cheek) I'm sorry I didn't spend much time with you, but I did do what I felt was best. Make me proud by being happy with your life, Claire.

Claire: I can… do that… How're you here now?

Haitian: If that is all, let's get to business.

Claire: What do you mean, what business?

Angela: Thank you, Nathan. This old soul can die happy.

Claire: What's going on?

(Angela tightly grips Claire's hand. The Haitian raises his hand and slowly creeps toward Claire. Suddenly, Claire and Angela both wake from a dream and look around to find themselves in the back seat still on their way to their next destination.)

Claire: What, happened?

Angela: I just had the most amazing dream.

Claire: About what?

Angela: I don't know… but Nathan was in it. And I can't help but feel a sense of peace. Have you ever had a dream that was so vague but felt it changed your life forever, simply because you experience it?

Claire: I have.

Angela: I feel like that in this moment right now- like everything is going to be okay.

[Parkman residence]

(The Captain is seen outside of the home making a phone call.)

Captain: All went well, except for the wife- she's dead.

Joshua Jackson: (Standing on the side of the road against the car drawing) Yeah, sorry about that. The situation had to get a but messy, but it'll all workout for the best.

Captain: Serves her right for being a freak lover.

Joshua Jackson: Yeah, when it comes to love, there is no discrimination. I just hope Petrelli does the right thing.

Captain: Petrelli?

Joshua Jackson: Yeah, I uh… did some additional sketches and I figured why not see what happens next. Let me ask you, Cap, I bet as a man of authority you're used to things working out in your favor.

Captain: Of course. As long as you're disciplined, life becomes very neat and structured.

Joshua Jackson: But when things do turn sour, you wouldn't know how to deal with it and it just becomes… terrifying.

Captain: Where are you getting that?

Joshua Jackson: Your memories should be forming together differently at this moment. It may suck for him, but you accidentally mixed up the syringes for your insulin and the virus. Switching vials is a pretty repetitive thing I guess.

Captain: (Slightly confused) Where are you getting at?

Joshua Jackson: I'm getting at the fact that you're not necessary; just a bug in the system. As we speak, I'm actually drawing out your death right now. (Chuckles) I can only image the terror of not knowing where to go from here. Any direction you go in could lead to exactly where I want you to be. It was fun- not really.

(The Captain runs back into the house and as he enters, sees his men unconscious on the ground. Peter grabs him from behind, scaring him down to his core.)

Peter: Why don't we go on a little fieldtrip, huh?

(Peter teleports him away. The two appear on top of a mountain several thousand feet high.)

Peter: Let's make this quick because I am in no mood to be patient.

Captain: What do you want?

Peter: I'll tell you what I don't want- to kill you, but hey survival of the fittest right. May you can make it off this mountain alive maybe not, but if I left you up here it would be up to you. Why were you at Parkman's and what did you do to them? Lie to me once and that's it. (Paces back and forth) I can always go back in time and see for myself, which I'll do anyway, but however easy you make it for me will decide if I leave you up here or not.

Captain: (Disgusted in himself) Nakamura was injected with a virus which deactivates abilities. And before you ask, yes, it's the same strange your lover was injected with… (Laughs) She was a lover of you freaks so she deserved to die- same as Parkman's lover. Backstabbing women is what they were! My only regret is that Parkman's woman didn't suffer half as much as yours.

(Stirred to his very core, Peter takes a moment to breath. He closes his eyes and teleports away. He appears in the house moments later and grabs a plate of body armor that one of the Captain's men was wearing while time remains frozen. He approaches Janice and unfreezes just her.)

Janice: (Deeply inhales) What was that… What's going on?

Peter: (Lifts up the body armor to her) I usually wait 'till the end of a date when I say this but, put this on. Also, what colored liquids do you have in the fridge?

(Peter pokes a hole in a carton with a syringe and extracts the fluid.)

Janice: This is so bizarre… Never in my dreams had I ever imagined seeing time frozen. It's… Wow…

Peter: Yeah it's not every day you get the opportunity so I thought, hey, why not let you enjoy the moment- you did just die after all.

Janice: (Clears her throat) So this armor will for sure protect me, right?

Peter: It'll still hurt, but yes.

Janice: Well thanks for your honesty.

Peter: Alright let's finish this. Remember to play dead after you've been shot.

Janice: Um… Yeah… Oh-okay.

Peter: What is it?

Janice: My loyalties are- to my husband. I love Matt and I'll do whatever it takes to stand by him. Even though we locked both you and Sylar into a wall, you're still here helping us. I guess what I'm saying is thank you.

Peter: … You're welcome. He go out of our way a lot for the people we love. They make us do things we never thought we were capable of- good and bad.

Janice: Love isn't always easy, it takes all parts of ourselves, I know that now. I want to be a good wife to him, so that means also being a part of his destiny. I need to be brave and if taking a bullet to the chest means proving that, then so be it. (Nervously exhales) I'm ready.

(After events are done, Peter appears back on the mountain.)

Captain: What did you do; where did you go?

Peter: Gave Janice a chance. She was brave and took the shot to the chest, only this time with body armor on from one of your lackeys. And of course, the liquid was flipped in that syringe of yours. So Hiro's fine.

Captain: This game… You people think you play it so well. You don't. Leave me here; I'll find my way back on my own terms; not from your pity.

Peter: … wish I could, but you need to face the truth of what you did.

(The sky is gloomy and Peter stands on a rooftop starring up at the coming eclipse. The mood is mellow and he just enjoys the moment offers him.)

Narrator: The end of an era closes and another begins.

[Nearly 3 weeks later]

(Peter and Angela are speaking in Peter's apartment amongst others.)

Angela: The president has issued a Mandatory Registration for people like us. Claire feels it's for the best and it helps keep the peace. I had to register for a number of reasons. I just want to keep the peace.

Tracy: I'm still human and if they want me to register, I dare them to come at me.

Angela: And what about your precious school for gifted children?

Tracy: Jeremy was a human, not a monster; it's important this world knows that.

Micah: I'm definitely not registering. It starts small and then it just gets bigger and eventually more rules are put on us. I'm with you, Peter.

West: … (Nervously biting his nails) I don't like the idea of being a robot. I'd much rather be an alien.

Matt: It's the law and I am a man of the law. I'm registering and then I'm going to arrest as many of those individuals as possible who have hunted us. With that being said, I'd appreciate if none of you contacted me ever again after this.

Sylar: I think it's safe to say I won't register. Everyone knows me and even if I tried to do the right thing, I'd get executed on the spot.

Noah: If I'm given the order to go after you all… I will have no other choice.

Peter: We understand, Bennet. We're all individual people with our own lives, we just need to be careful when it comes to our personal beliefs- we can't let those get in the way of what's important, okay; who we are to each other. Let's do this…

(There are subtle knocks on the door. Peter quickly walks up to it and answers.)

Peter: Hesam…

Hesam: (Offers case of Orange Cream soda) You being different doesn't matter what. I may not understand it- why or how you're different but you're my friend, man, and you know what, the world can only have so much change before the gene pool starts switchin' up. (Chuckles) So what do you say; friends again?

(Peter smiles at Hesam.)

Peter: I can have one drink before my speech to the press.

(Peter calls for a press conference and waiting on him are dozens of reporters and camera men. Peter is seen yelling into the microphone.)

Peter: I have many friends who are Evos and THEY will not be registering with homeland security. We will not standby and be discriminated against.

(Peter closes his eyes, takes a breath, and disappears in front of dozens of reporters and cameras.)

Reporter: -just declared war on the re-written Evo Act!

[Doctor's lab, Claire Bennet]

Dr. Deng Hsu: We're making a breakthrough with your blood. Through transfusions, we can heal other people, but soon we'll be able to make your ability transferable to others.

Claire: (Nervously breaths) Good. I wanna do my best to help the world, even if Sylar and Peter warn me not to do this- it's not their choice.

Dr. Deng Hsu: Independence- is that why you died your hair a darker shade?

Claire: It's time I embraced my own destiny. This is the new me now… at least for now anyway… My destiny is my own…

(Unsure on things, Claire allows her blood to continue to be experimented by the doctor.)

END OF VOLUME SIX: BRAVE NEW WORLD

VOLUME SEVEN: RESURRECTION…

(Out in the middle of nowhere, in a cabin, a sick old man is seen coughing and throwing up what little fluid he has left into a bucket. A young man comes holding a laptop and takes a seat beside the bed.)

Luke: Look at this…

(The old man struggles to turn around and look at the monitor. He sees the footage of Claire jumping from the Ferris Wheel and getting back up unharmed.)

Claire: (On Tape) This is Claire Bennet- and as far as you know, that was attempt number one-

Luke: (Closes the laptop) She's still out there. You can find her; and you can get better.

(The old man just groans.)

Luke: Look, if you wanna give up and die here alone then fine, no one's stopping you, if you want a chance to live, this is the only hope you have right now…

[Hidden Island]

(A helicopter lands and out comes The Englishman as well as Harris and Erica. Down on the island already are three individuals.)

Englishman: Let's speak inside.

(The 6 of them walk down a dark hall and stand in front of a boxed-in cell where two girls sit across the room exhausted from lack of nutrients.)

Englishman: These two are a real problem. Their multidimensional energies are disrupting the research we've been doing with the Red Hood's ability. He's dead now but we've found a way to control what he had. Sadly, there's not much we could do because of these two girls.

Eli: I'm guessing there's something you want from us first before we get them in our possession and bring them back to their original dimension.

Englishman: There is someone I want on my team and there is to be no trace of finding him.

Eli: Rachael and I are on it; we'll find him.

Englishman: He'll be good for my cause.

Hanru: They look like they're starving. I'll get them food and you two find the guy.

Englishman: Jackson is his name…

Rachael: We're on it. Joshua Jackson is yours.
