Disclaimer: This story is 100% alternate universe and most, if not all, of the characters in this story are out of character as well. Also I don't own anything by J.K. Rowling and I am not trying to steal her characters, plots, or moments within the books that she has written. This is my own story and I also claim to not copy off of anyone else's work either in the process.
Summary: In another universe, Harry Potter has become the newest host for the alien symbiote known as VENOM. Thanks to this bonding, Harry's life has been ultimately changed, but that may not be a good thing. Rated M for violence, swearing, possible horror, and other implied situations.
A/N: I love Venom from the Marvel Comics, and I love Harry Potter. So why not combine them right? There's not gonna be a massive Marvel/Potter universe crossover in this story. So no X-Men or Avengers or Spider-Man, or anything else related to Marvel. I don't really care for those stories anyway because I feel like they get way too crazy with Harry being an Avenger or a mutant. Plus I'm sure if I did do anything else Marvel-ish in this story with other characters, then someone is gonna be upset that Wolverine or Black Widow isn't going to appear, or that Tony Stark isn't like RDJ's interpretation.
There is no Eddie Brock in this story by the way, only the alien symbiote. Also Carnage will appear but not Kletus Cassidy. I'm not entirely sure if I want to include other ones like Scream or Riot either, but time will tell.
Here's how dialogue is going to work:
"If it's normal like this, then it's just Harry talking out loud."
"IF ITS LIKE THIS, THEN VENOM IS TALKING OUT LOUD."
"If it's like this, then it's Harry's thoughts."
"IF ITS LIKE THIS, THEN ITS VENOM'S THOUGHTS."
"iF iT's LiKe ThIs, ThEn VeNoM iS CoNtRoLlInG WhAt HaRrY Is SaYiNg, BuT iT's StIlL hArRy'S vOiCe."
Anyway that's all I'm gonna say about this story. It's just my interpretation of Venom and the Harry Potter universe. If you like this story, that's cool, but if you don't, then that's cool too. However there's no need for hateful comments. There's enough negativity in the world already. Thanks for reading and review if you'd like.
Chapter 1: 1981
October 20th, 1981 - Outside of London:
On the night of October 20th, a young couple was walking through a park that happened to connect to the local bus station nearby. The pair was trying to reach the station in hopes of trying to catch the 6:45 PM bus, but their journey was halted by the sudden shaking of the ground that knocked the both of them on their backs.
"What was that?" The man asked.
"I don't know." The woman responded. She then looked over her shoulder back towards the way they came, and was able to see smoke rising from the trees.
"Come on. We need to see if anyone is hurt!"
With that the couple hurried over, and discovered a scene of complete disaster. A few trees were ripped over from their roots, the grass appeared to be scorched with some of the areas were still aflame, and in the center of the scene was a rock the size of a small boulder that was radiating steam from what looked like the top. The steam was somewhat thick and was creating a small amount of fog in the area.
"What do you think happened?"
"I'm not sure. Is it a meteor?"
"Let's go see." The woman said as her curiosity got the better of her. She went over to then rock and started looking all around it.
"Maybe we shouldn't." The man cautioned. "Who knows what that thing is."
"Oh please. Quit worrying you spoilsport. It's just a rock." The woman scoffed. "What harm could it possibly be?"
As if on cue, the small boulder shot out a giant stream of black gas from the direct center on top. The woman shrieked and tried to bolt from the area, but the gas formed into a geyser of black sludge that splattered all around as if oil was sprouting from the ground. The woman was unfortunately in the direct vicinity of the liquid substance exploding, and was covered in the black substance from head to toe. The man then ran over to his girlfriend and tried his best to get her clean from all the disgusting dark goo.
"Get it off me! Get it off get it off!" She yelled in terror.
"Don't worry, I'm trying!" He said as he tried his best to grab the goo, but unfortunately it only caused his hands to get stuck. The dark substance then started to get sticky and thicken all over his hands and his girlfriend.
"What are you doing!? Get it off me!"
"I'm trying! It's stuck to my hands!" He shouted.
"Hurry!" She wailed.
The goo then traveled down her skin and past her eyes, nose and mouth, while almost being swallowed. The man was trying his best to get the substance off, but he was only making it worse as the goo began to spread rapidly all over her.
"MMHHMMMMHHHMM!"
"Hold on! I'm going to try and move you!" He said as he did his best to move her over to the nearby drinking fountain. If he couldn't scrape it off with his hands, the next best thing would be to wash it off.
As the man tugged his girlfriend and the black mass over to the fountain, a horrifying shriek erupted in the area and caused the pair to fall to the ground. The woman was violently shaking from the lack of oxygen, while the man was doing his best to cover his ears from the high pitched sound.
"Hold on! I'm trying to get it off!"
Suddenly, the dark goo began to wiggle all around his arms and around the woman's body in a wild manner that knocked the man to the ground from an impact to the face. As the man fell to the ground, a deep voice spoke from what seemed like was in his head.
"HUMANS IDENTIFIED. HOSTS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SYMBIOTE BONDING. MUST EAT HOSTS."
The man and woman then began to experience pain unlike any other. The black goo expanded entirely over the two of them and used its gelatinous body to absorb their flesh in a monstrous fashion. In a matter of seconds the screaming stopped, and all that remained of the humans was the bones that were picked clean.
"HMMMM. DELICIOUS." The "thing" said. "MUST SEARCH FOR COMPATIBLE BONDING HOST."
And with that, the goo compiled itself into a small clump of mass and began rolling away from the crash site. The creature made its way over to the nearby road that connected to the bus station. In order to not be seen, the blob quickly crawled away from the nearby sitting area, and hid itself underneath the passing tire from an ongoing car.
"SEARCHING FOR COMPATIBLE HOST." The creature said as the car drove away.
Over an hour later, the creature was still not able to detect a worthy host in the area, so it dislodged itself from the underside of the car and made its way over to the sewer grate. Unfortunately the goo started to get hungry again.
"MUST FEED." It said as it crawled through the sewers. The sounds of squeaking rats then filled the nearby air.
October 22nd, 1981 - Inside the Ministry of Magic:
"Minister, I must protest these dismissals. Don't you think ..."
"My dear, Mrs. Alvarez, do you think your superiors in the Auror Department haven't inspected the crash site thoroughly?"
"Well ... I mean ..."
"Isn't it also true that the unfortunate muggles who perished from the crash were properly taken care of, and any record of this appearing in the Muggle news was destroyed?"
"Yes but ..."
"And I might add that there was no magical trace whatsoever that came from the meteor. There is no need to continue this case, Mrs. Alvarez, and I would appreciate your efforts be focused on more important matters."
"And what would that be, sir?" Alvarez said as she sighed.
"You can get me a cup of coffee. Oh and don't forget I like it with 2 sugars." The Minister of Magic said as he dismissed her.
Alvarez gritted her teeth in response, but strode off to find some coffee for the Minister anyway. She had a feeling that the Minister wouldn't listen to her, but it could never hurt to try.
Ever since the crash landing of the meteor, the magical population was in complete disarray. Why? For some reason, all wizards and witches were now feeling a sense of dread everywhere they went. The only time that had rivaled this current event was when You-Know-Who had started terrorizing and killing Muggles. But that was something Mrs. Alvarez did not want to think about.
Realizing that there wasn't anything else she could do about the present situation, the defeated woman decided to return to her task at hand. If she couldn't get the minister to see her side of things, the least she could do was get on his good side.
October 28th, 1981 - Near Godric's Hollow
"MUST FEED." The monster thought. "THE HUNGER. MUST FEED THE HUNGER."
After traveling through the sewer system for several days, the black goo had unfortunately eaten all the nearby vermin and had run out of food. It was probably for the best that it had gotten lost though, since it knew that these "Auror" things were looking for it. The goo had heard enough of their conversations while underground to know that its survival was in jeopardy.
"MUST FEED." The monster thought again. The only thing that had been on its mind for the last few days was finding food, and it was starting to get crazy. Realizing that the only thing it could do was get out of the sewers, the goo made its way above ground and took into its surroundings. There appeared to be a bunch of houses in what looked like a small town. Perfect. The creature could hide out here while feeding on any nearby vermin while it searched for a potential host.
After traveling for a short time down the road, all the while sticking to the shadows so it would not be seen, the goo made its way over to the first of the houses in a row. The creature was having difficulty trying to find a perfect host since the auras of the humans in the area were not sufficient.
Eventually, the black thing ended up in front of the house that contained a worried redhead woman, a headstrong man with glasses, and a small human that lived upstairs. The creature was getting some strong readings from this house in particular, so it decided to hide itself inside by heading into the basement.
October 29th, 1981 - Potter Manor:
"I'm feeling uneasy, James. Something is definitely not right." Lily Potter stated as she started out the window. What she was looking for, she didn't know, but something was disturbing her and that was enough of a reason to stare.
"What do you mean, Lily? We have all the precautions in place and our secret keeper will guard our location with his life." James Potter said as he moved in to hug his wife.
"No it's not that." Lily said as she moved away from him and paced the floor.
"Is it, Harry? Don't worry about that, love. He's safe and sound in his crib, and we have the best protections that money can buy."
"No it's not that either." She said as she sighed. "Do you remember the story from a week ago about the meteor that crashed not too far away from Diagon Alley?"
"You mean that story in The Daily Prophet?" James asked. "I thought the Ministry wasn't able to find anything from the wreckage? It was just a giant rock as far as they were concerned."
"I know but, haven't you felt something was wrong ever since it landed here?" James looked at his wife with some curiousness and a little worry.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean there's been an uneasiness in the air, and it's making me uncomfortable." Lily said as she sighed.
"Do you think we should alert Dumbledore?"
"I doubt he has time to come and analyze my uneasiness, James. No we should just let him be. I'm sure this feeling will go away.
There was nothing James could add to the conversation, so he just held Lily as a sign of support. Hopefully this feeling would pass in time. The couple already had enough worries with the prophecy potentially hanging over their heads.
Meanwhile in the basement, the black goo had made its way around in hopes of finding some food. Fortunately, there was a small rat problem and the creature had no difficultly dealing with the vermin for the time being. It knew it could not survive off of the small animals for long, but there was nothing it could do since it was not at full strength to take on the humans if necessary.
"SOON." It thought. Indeed. It was only a matter of time until the creature made its way upstairs.
October 30th, 1981 - Potter Manor:
"I'm telling you that something is wrong, Dumbledore! I've been on edge ever since that damn meteor fell!" Lily Potter exclaimed as she shouted at the old man.
After voicing her concerns about the meteor the day prior, Lily's feelings of uneasiness grew to the point of pure paranoia. James was doing his best to calm his wife, but all efforts didn't seem to make a difference. In hopes of getting her to calm down, he contacted Albus Dumbledore and asked if he could come by. Surely he could do something, right?
"I understand your concern, Lily, but you need not worry. The Ministry of Magic has taken the meteor and examined it thoroughly and found nothing." The old wizard stated.
"Yeah, Lils." James added. "The Ministry would have surely told the Aurors by now if something had happened."
"Well they are wrong! They must be missing something!" Lily shouted.
"How can you be so sure, Mrs. Potter?"
"You know that I'm an empath Dumbledore." She sighed. "Surely you would know that I can feel emotions and feelings on physical, spiritual, and other worldly planes?"
"What does that have to do with the meteor, Lils?"
"I'm getting to that, James!" She stated towards her husband. "Anyway, ever since the damn rock came here, I've felt .. cold .. I feel as if I've felt the vast cold of space. But that's not all, I've also felt .. hunger .. and .. anger. So much anger."
"So you believe the meteor is alive?" James asked. Lily didn't know what to say, so she nodded instead. "I know we are surrounded by magic, Lily, but even you can see that sounds ridiculous."
James pondered the information his wife gave him for a moment before he spoke again.
"Do you think this could be about You-Know-Who? This has to be about him and not some rock, right?"
"I happen to agree with James." Dumbledore added. "The Dark Lord has been quite active the last year, and your feelings have definitely swayed in both the positive and negative to extremes before. I believe he is the cause of what you are experiencing."
Lily sighed. It seems as if her husband and the headmaster would never understand how she was feeling. To be fair, she had experienced this unique ability all her life, and no one except her could possibly understand what being an empath was like.
"Nevermind. I don't expect either one of you to understand." She said. "I'm going to go lie down. Goodbye, Headmaster. We will speak later I'm sure."
"That sounds like a plausible idea, Mrs. Potter." The old man said. "I will be available to both of you should you need me." Dumbledore then stepped through the floo network to go back to Hogwarts.
October 31st, 1981 - Potter Manor:
In order to get herself under control, Lily Potter spent the day in the house while doing some calming activities like meditation and drinking tea. She had no intention of celebrating Halloween today. Not after all the dread she had been feeling.
James had left earlier in the morning after kissing her goodbye and promising to come home earlier to make her feel better. Even though Lily wanted to protest, she knew her husband wasn't going to take no for an answer, so she merely nodded and let him leave for work.
Throughout the day, strange things had happened that couldn't be explained. Earlier in the day Lily had made herself breakfast in the kitchen, but as soon as she left to use the loo, she returned and found several black stains over the kitchen counters. Lily tried her best to clean the stains off with her magic but she found it to be impossible.
Later on, Mrs. Potter decided to take a trip down into the basement to see if their rodent problem was still happening. The couple had laid several wards in hopes of keeping them from entering, but she was determined to find out just in case. As she made her way over to the holes in the walls, she found the same kind of black stains inside the holes. She was becoming increasingly paranoid on what was happening. What were these stains? Where were they coming from? The redhead was not going to stay in the basement after that. She needed to clear her head so she ran to the loo.
Lily sprinted at breakneck speed to the loo and shut the door tight. What in the world was happening? What were those black stains everywhere? Realizing that stress was not going to help, she approached the sink and splashed several handfuls of water on to her face. The water felt cool against her skin, and she could literally feel the worry rinse off of her. But it didn't last long.
As Mrs. Potter was drying her face off, she looked in the mirror and noticed that there was a black pile of sludge moving along the walls and moving away from her towards the small hole in the ceiling. The redhead screamed loudly and cowered over to the nearby closet. The thing about Lily Potter though was that she was incredibly brave and would have done her best to fire all the curses she knew, but since she was freaked out from the events of the past 2 weeks, she couldn't handle the sight of that thing on the walls and ran.
Realizing that her son might be in danger, Lily quickly bolted to her son's room and prayed that there was nothing wrong. As she opened the door, she was relieved to find that there were no black stains in sight and was incredibly thankful that he was sound asleep, and there was nothing wrong. She didn't know what would have happened if anything had happened to him.
After leaving Harry's room, Mrs. Potter went over to the fireplace and attempted to contact her husband. Unfortunately he was out on a current mission and was not available until later, so Lily urgently asked him to come home as soon as possible.
Later that night, after James had finished work, he returned home to find his wife sobbing uncontrollably and in a fetal position near the fireplace. She was holding Harry in her arms in a desperate attempt to keep him safe.
"LILY!" He shouted as he hugged her. "Dear Godric, what's wrong? What happened?"
"Oh James! It was horrible!" She sobbed. "There was this … thing … that was crawling around the house! I couldn't get rid of it!"
"What are you talking about?"
"ARE YOU NOT LISTENING?! SOMETHING IS CRAWLING AROUND THE HOUSE! GO GET RID OF IT!" She screeched. She immediately regretted this because it had awoken her sleeping son.
"Ok ok ok! What does it look it? What is it?" He asked as his son cried.
"I … I don't know what it is! It looks like a black pile of goo and it moves really quickly! Please, James, go kill it! Hurry!"
That was all James needed to hear. After promising his wife that he would, James proceeded to search the entire house for this black goo. There was no way this thing would harm his wife or son if he could help it. James started with Harry's room and went from there. As he tore open the doors for each room of the house, the Auror was unable to find any kind of black goo anywhere.
"Well?! Is it gone?!" Lily asked.
"Lily, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any black goo."
"Then keep looking! It has to be somewhere!" She cried. "James please! Please find it!"
Before James could start his search once again, Sirius Black, James Potter's best friend and fellow Auror stepped through the fireplace and rushed over to him.
"James! Voldemort is coming! Peter betrayed us! That evil bastard is on his way here! We need to run!" Mr. Black then turned towards a sobbing Lily Potter.
"What's wrong, red? What's happening?"
"Nevermind that!" James said as he ran over to Lily and pulled her up. "Come on, Lily! We need to go!"
Even though Lily was scared of whatever that black goo was inside the house, she was more scared of Voldemort trying to kill her son. Mrs. Potter gathered the remaining strength she had and followed James and Sirius towards the door. But before the trio could leave, a giant black puddle rose from the floor and formed into a massive sludge monster that screeched a horrible noise.
"FEED. MUST FEED."
"WHAT IS THAT?!"
"WHO CARES! JUST KILL IT!"
James and Sirius then blasted spell after spell at the monster, but nothing was working. The spells seemed to be absorbed by the black thing and wasn't feeling any sort of pain.
"MUST FEED. HUNGER." It said as it crept closer.
"Nothing's working!" James shouted as he continued to blast more spells. The magic in the room seemed to be all going towards the creature, but still nothing was happening to it.
"Run James! I'll take care of it!" Sirius exclaimed as he tried to push his friends away. The monster screeched again and attempted to leap towards the group, but it missed them and slammed against the nearby wall.
Just as Lily, James and Sirius tried to run, the front door to the house was blasted open by a bunch of witches and wizards in black gear and skull masks.
"Death Eaters! Lily, take Harry and go!" Her husband said.
Even though she wanted to protest, Lily thought of Harry's well being and sprinted up the stairs. She realized that going up was not the best idea, but the monster was blocking the area near the fireplace, and the Death Eaters were at the front door.
As soon as his wife was gone, James took cover behind the nearby furniture and began casting spell after spell at the group of dark wizards. Some of them died instantly, while others fell to the floor injured but not dead. Mr. Potter turned to his friend to ask for help, but Sirius Black was currently dodging the black goo creature and making his way over to the furniture to where he was.
Once Sirius was out of sight, the monster turned its attention to the group of dark wizards and leaped forwards in a high pitched screech.
"FEED. HUNGER."
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"
"KILL IT!"
"DIE BEAST!"
The Death Eaters all began casting spells but they were all going straight into the creature and nothing was happening. Once the creature was in range, it rose to a hulk like state and formed a slime like mouth with hundreds of jagged teeth. The Death Eaters didn't stand a chance as the monster chomped down. The sounds of violent wailing and screaming were heard from inside the puddle of goo as it swallowed the group whole.
"Well … I will say that I'm thankful the monster killed them instead of us." Sirius Black mentioned as he looked towards his friend. James stared at Sirius as if he was a complete moron. The pair then made their way past the group being devoured and ran up the stairs. The two men ran to their son's bedroom and were unfortunately under attack from a barrage of spells.
"DIE YOU BASTARDS!" Lily screamed as she blasted a few spells at the door.
"LILY STOP IT'S US!" Sirius shouted back.
Just as Lily lowered her wand, two sickly green colored spells shot towards the men at the doorway.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" The spellcaster said. James and Sirius fell to the floor dead, and Lily sobbed for her fallen husband and friend. She turned her eyes away from her deceased James, and looked to the dark wizard who was responsible.
"Ah! The mother and her child." The dark wizard said. "How fitting that you should be together."
"Leave us alone!" The woman said as she blasted a spell towards the man but he blocked it without any problems.
"Foolish girl! You dare try to fight the great Lord Voldemort?" The Dark Lord screamed. "I have no quarrel with you my dear. Step away from the boy, and I will guarantee your survival."
"No! You can't have him!"
"Step away, mudblood! I will not have this child stand in my way of immortality!"
"NO!" The evil man then made his way closer to the redhead and her child. With his white wand gripped firmly in hand, he sneered with a feeling of hatred.
"Pity. It seems you have chosen death! So be it! AVADA KEDAVRA!" Voldemort shouted as the green colored spell.
In an effort to save her child from the spell, Lily Potter turned around as quickly as she could and held Harry close. As the boy cried, Lily received the blast and screamed her final wail. The woman fell to the floor and the baby rolled away to the nearby corner away from Voldemort.
The evil wizard stood over the redheaded woman's body and inspected it as to see if she was somehow still alive. After laughing a horrible sound, the evil being walked over the corpse and made his way to the child. Harry continued to cry in terror as Voldemort picked up the boy in his arms.
"Such a little thing you are." The man sneered as he placed the boy into his crib. "How could someone as low as you possibly destroy me? Hmmph. You could never harm me, boy."
The man then raised his boney white wand that seemed to be a vile extension to his sickly white skin, and pointed it straight at the boy. As he swished his wand quickly, the green light blasted forward and struck young Harry Potter to the bottom of the crib. His lifeless body remained still and the lights left his emerald green eyes.
"It seems that the prophecy was wrong." Voldemort muttered.
The man's wand was sheered back inside his midnight black robes, and with haste, he moved from out of the room to leave the Potter House. As he stepped towards the stairs, the massive black goo from the lower floor lunged forward and engulfed the bastard in a single swallow. As he screamed in a fury of pain, the last words that were uttered from Lord Voldemort were deafened and no one could hear them.
"TASTY." The monster grunted. Since it had finished its meal, the goo slithered forward looking for a way out of the house.
The black ooze moved away from the bodies of James Potter and Sirius Black, and climbed its way to the top of the wall. After noticing a window a short distance away, the blob continued to move along the ceiling. Just as it was about to leave, a cry could be heard from the nearby crib. It appeared that the small child had survived the encounter with the dark wizard. But that was not all, the monster could feel a pull coming from the crib, so it decided to check out the source.
"POSSIBLE HOST NEAR." It grunted. The monster leaped into the crib with such haste that the small child inside could not realize what was going on. The monster crept forward as the pull from the child grew. As soon as the being touched the skin of the boy, it knew the search for a perfect host was over.
"PERFECT MATCH. BONDING PROCESS WILL BEGIN."
The monster started to move up the boy's skin, but as soon as it reached the boy's head, the goo noticed a small wound was protruding out. Seeing a perfect opportunity to completely merge with the child, the goo slithered inside of the boy's head, and lodged itself deeply inside. As soon as the monster was safely tucked away inside the child, a black scar dashed across the boy's head.
