Denki was in Recovery Girl's office after a quirk training accident.

After checking for any sign of damage or injuries, Recovery Girl gave him a clean bill of health and sent him off to lunch.

However, ever since that accident Denki started to act differently.

"Oh My God! Is that a book, Denki?!" Mina shouted.

Denki held his book up closer to face to hide his blush.

"Yes, and?" Denki said.

"You can read?!" Hanta teased, before sitting down his lunch on the cafeteria table.

"When did you even start reading it?" Eijirou asked.

"This Morning." Denki answered not realizing how odd his answer was.

His friends looked at him with wide eyes.

"What?" Denki blurted out.

"Prove it." Mina said.

Denki quickly gave them a detailed summary and analysis of the novel he was reading.

His friends dropped their jaws.

"Who are you and what have you done with Denki?!" Mina said.

"I'm still the Pikachu Meme-Loving Denki guy." Denki said, putting his hands up in defense.

His teachers also noticed a change in Denki's behavior.

"Can anyone come up and solve this problem that was on the math homework?" Ectoplasm said.

Even Momo was struggling with the math homework.

Denki raised his hand and drew everyone's attention.

"Ooh? Kaminari. What a surprise!" Ectoplasm said.

Kaminari took the dry erase marker and did the math problem step-by-step.

"After factoring the 'X' in the polynomial on both sides the answer comes 'X = 0'." Denki said.

The class dropped their jaws. Denki showed three different ways to solve the math problems and graphed the equation and more.

"Well done Kaminari! Remind me to give you extra credit later." Ectoplasm said.

When Denki returned to his seat, Jirou asked him a question.

"Did you use PhotoMath or something? It was a word problem so I have no clue how the app would have helped." Jirou whispered.

"PhotoMath? Nah, that's too slow, it's much easier to solve by hand instead of inputting all the numbers into the graphing calculator." Denki answered.

"I-" Jirou blurted out.

Nemuri assigned her Modern Art History class a Free Written Response test after their warm-up.

Denki surprisingly finished the test in ten minutes even though she gave the class twenty-five minutes to complete the one question.

Nemuri suspected he probably answered maybe half of the question or so.

She sighed not wanting to give him a poor grade when he's already failing.

She picked up his test from the drop-off tray and was taken back when she saw a long five-paragraph essay.

After skimming over the main points of the essay she decided to give him some bonus points.

Denki frowned when he returned to his seat. He felt like he spent too much drafting his outline.

"Mister Yamada, I'm done with the classwork." Denki said.

"Huh?" Yamada said, turning away from his laptop.

Hizashi quickly went over his classwork and was surprised Denki was able to translate the classwork problems into English so flawlessly. He even got the conjugations right.

"Did you use Google Translate?" Yamada questioned.

"Why would I need to?" Denki asked innocently.

"I didn't even teach the Perfect Past Tense conjugations yet!" Hizashi said.

Denki shrugged.

"Ooh. I already knew them thanks to Duolingo."

"Woah. I heard of Duolingo, what level are you on?" Hizashi asked.

"I just reached level 25 last night." Denki said, showing his progress on his smartphone.

Hizashi turned his head back to his laptop and opened up his email.

"Let me email guidance and see if we can put you in English 3 or higher. You would also have to take a placement test." Hizashi suggested.

Denki quickly became the talk of the faculty room. His teachers were proud of him.

Shouta on the other hand wasn't buying it.

"I think he's cheating." Shouta said.

Hizashi and Nemuri gawked at him after he dared oppose their new favorite student.

"I thought that too, but I put all his essays through the plagiarism checker, and nothing popped up." Nemuri explained.

Shouta sipped his coffee. He had a bad feeling about this.

Aizawa was going over the lesson plan on the whiteboard when a voice came over the intercom.

"Denki Kaminari, please come down to the Principal's Office." the Intercom said.

Aizawa's left eye twitched. He can't believe Nezu would pull out one of his students during an important lesson.

"Denki, come up and get your hall pass." Aizawa said.

"Hall Pass? For what?" Denki asked.

"Principal Nezu wants to see you." Aizawa said.

"Ooh. It looks like Mister MacSmarty Pants is still a troublemaker." Mina teased.

Some of their classmates nearby chuckled when they heard Mina's comment.

"Ashido! Don't make me give you detention." Aizawa threatened.

Mina quickly shut her mouth.

Denki did the walk shame down to Nezu's Office.

"A-Am I in trouble?" Denki asked.

Nezu shook his head. "No, Denki, please take a seat."

There was a chessboard on Nezu's desk.

"Would you like some tea?" Nezu asked.

"Green Tea, please." Denki answered.

Denki nervously played with his teaspoon as he stirred in some sugar.

"Denki, it has been brought to my attention that you have been excelling in your classes."

Denki looked up from this tea.

"And?" Denki questioned.

"Bear with me. I want to run a test." Nezu explained.

"What kind of test?" Denki asked.

Principal Nezu wanted to play a game of chess with Denki to determine his IQ and wit.

In six moves, Denki already said checkmate.

"Have you played chess before?" Nezu asked. He was surprised he was gonna lose.

"I used to play with a friend online, probably the best mind I ever went up against. One day, he...just didn't want to play anymore." Nezu said.

"Did you give up too?" Nezu questioned.

"No, just the opposite. I attempted to play through every permutation of moves on a chessboard." Denki explained.

"That's an infinite number of games?!" Nezu blurted out.

"It's not infinite, but it's exponentially large." Denki reasoned.

Denki chuckled.

"There's no way you could have played through them all." Nezu rebutted.

"There's an average of 40 moves per chess game and the more I played the more I realized that every single match and every single chess game is just a simple variation on the exact same thing." Denki quickly said.

Denki took a big breath.

"You know, aggressive opening, patient midgame, inevitable checkmate. No wonder my friend quit, he's tired of repeating the same patterns and expecting a different outcome."

Nezu just realized how potentially Denki could be. He has a lifetime of chess strategy in his head and he's just sitting on it.

"Denki, tell you what. I want you to become my personal student. What do you say?" Nezu said.

Denki hummed before answering: "I'll think about it."

Nezu pouted.

"Well, if we are done here. I think Mister Aizawa is dying for me to return to class." Denki said as he got up from his chair.
