Ten little tokens part 2

Last time on Total Drama Tyranny of the masses, the final 3 challenge is about to begin. In this one, the remaining campers will confront each other to earn one of the spots in the finale.

But before getting started each of them had a surprise call from their loved ones. So we have some touching moments with Courtney's mom, Samey's mom, and an old man, which I think is Brick's dad or grandparent, who cares? Brick was happy, so I guess they're family.

So with their batteries fully charged and the support of their families, these three will start the penultimate challenge of the season. Which two will reach the finale. The hysteric CIT, the coward soldier, or the clumsy twin? And who will bite the dust so close to the end? Find out next on Total Drama: Tyranny of the Masses.

The screen showed the center of the campsite. Chris was standing in front of the remaining competitors with his trademark smile on his face. In front of him, Courtney was frowning with her arms folded while Brick and Sammy were smiling.

"Ok, I hope you enjoyed the surprise. Now it's time for the challenge. It's a classic Total drama treasure hunt," said Chris winking at the camera.

"So we have to look for a treasure using a map?" Asked Sammy in an excited tone.

Chris chuckled. "Hehehe no Samey, the total drama treasure hunt is more like an eastern egg hunt than an actual treasure hunt," he then took out a small coin-like object. "We have hidden 20 Total Drama Tokens around the island. The campers who find 10 will access immediately the final."

The campers took a moment to look at the small, white piece of wood, rushedly done and painted. This would be a hard one.

"What if we can't find 10 tokens, sir?" asked Brick, in a formal martial voice.

"I'll explain that later. We'll give you 8 hours to find the tokens. These are hidden around all the island EXCEPT the crater in the middle because it can be dangerous," said Chris, waving his finger. "Also most will be in zones plagued with wild animals, so try to not provoke them and become their lunch."

Courtney's frown turned into a glare. "And since when you care about our well-being?"

"I always worry about your well-being," said Chris in a hurt tone. The three campers looked at him with skepticism. "Anyway, to win, you need to find 10 tokens. In case the time runs out, the one with more tokens will be the winner."

"And what if there is a tie?" asked Courtney in an upset tone.

Chris rolled his eyes. "If you're tied in the first place, it doesn't matter. If the last place is a tie, or if you're so useless to make a 3-way tie, we will have a tiebreaker. But please try to win this one, ok?"

There was a small silence. Chris's jokes were starting to tire the campers.

"If there are no more questions, the challenge starts NOW!" shouted Chris, making a big smile. "So go, go, go. I'll see you here when you have 10 tokens or at 18:00 when the challenge is over."

The three campers went into the forest. Then looked at each other before going into their separate ways.

"See you later, Sammy and Brick, may the best one win," said Courtney as she ran to the mountains.

"It's an honor to compete against you. I wish you good luck," said Brick as he entered the forest.

Sammy nodded as she went toward the south. "Let's do our best, everyone, no hard feelings."

The three were focused on winning the challenge. Even if they were friends, none of them would give up on the prize.

Courtney was running and looking at the caves in the mountains at the north.

She was angry and upset. The call with her mother reminded Courtney of all the things she had done and the person she used to be. Did the other people saw her as she sees her mother now? If it was true, that explained why everyone avoided her during the Total Drama Action season… and World Tour… and high school.

But she didn't have time to get depressed, she changed, she wasn't the same person. So she needed to keep going forward and believe in herself.

Now that she was focused, Courtney started examining the caves. There weren't as many as before the DAM's incident, so it was quicker than she expected, but unfortunately, it was also unsuccessful.

"Really? 10 caves and not even 1 token?" mumbled Courtney, drying the sweat off her forehead. "This must be some kind of bad joke."

She stopped to take a drink at the river to reenergize herself, and then she noticed the waterfall in which the foxes team sleep during the third challenge.

"I didn't look at the hidden cave behind it," she muttered, smirking.

The former CIT had a hunch. She ran toward the cave and entered it, getting wet under the waterfall.

The place was broader than she remembered, which was obvious as it was partially flooded the last time she was in that cave. And there were the remains of the campfire, she smiled, remembering that weird night.

And in the center over the ashes of the campfire was one of the tokens.

"1 get and 9 to go. This is looking fine," said Courtney making a big smile.

But her smile disappeared as she heard a growl behind her. The former CIT turned slowly, gulping.

And behind her was a big bear, glaring at her. And it wasn't a robot because all the robots were destroyed. It was a real bear!

"Calm down. I don't want to hurt you. I'm a full-fledged camp counselor passing by, don't worry," said Courtney, extending her arm and looking nervously at the animal.

The bear growled again and began to walk looking for an opening when suddenly it saw better the person in front of him. And began to sweat.

The poor animal began to have flashbacks of a day when it ate a small ferret, and then it was bullied by these three hooligans. And she was the one that hurt him the most.

Why was she at his house? Did she want to attack him again? Will the guy that put his arm on his stomach also be here? The bear began to blanch and to look at Courtney with a worried expression.

Now the bear began to try to avoid Courtney, as the Latin girl tried to avoid him, but both moved at the same side of the cave, and then to the other, and then again to the first.

It's gonna eat me! Thought Courtney, sweating a lot.

It's gonna beat me! Thought the bear, trembling.

But as Courtney was considering fighting barehanded with a bear (again) and the bear was considering making a desperate attack against her, the animal realized something.

It put a small thing in the ground, something it found traveling in the forest, and that was identical to the other he found in his cave.

Courtney looked at it with wide eyes. It was a token!

But why? Why was the bear leaving a token? There was only one answer.

It's trying to bait me to jump over me once I take it, thought Courtney, shocked by the bear intelligence.

So she went back and looked at the bear. It should be a way to make it go away or at least to distract it.

And unknown to her, the bear was also starting to get anxious.

Why isn't she going away? Is that trash not enough? Thought the bear, who then put two salmons over the token.

But Courtney blanched. It's already preparing the side dishes. Should I try a preemptive strike?

But a miracle happened, the bear suddenly went out of the cave! Courtney ran, took the token, and went out as fast as she could.

"I can't believe I did it, and somehow I'm unscathed, and with two tokens. I wish Lightning and Zoey were here. Without them, I'm not crazy enough to attack a bear," muttered Courtney, with a big smile on her face.

Confessional: Courtney

"Yes, I could fight the bear and may even win… NO! If I fought a bear in the past was because I had no other alternatives and my allies forced me. If I don't have the correct mindset, I would rather not fight a wild beast, thanks," said Courtney, shrugging with her arms folded.

Confessional: Bear

The bear dried the sweat off his forehead and made a sigh of relief. He then put his paw under his chin with a thoughtful expression and finally shrugged.

(Translated from the bear language: "And luckily she left while I was looking for more salmons to bribe her. I wonder why she left without the ones I gave her in the cave? Maybe she's vegan."

Brick was looking around the forest, but it seemed as he pulled the short stick when he decided to look for the tokens in this place.

He looked around, put his hand inside some tree, and only found some angry squirrels. The cadet also searched some suspicious holes in the ground and only found some angry bunnies.

"At this pace, the animals will think I'm some kind of stalker," muttered Brick rubbing his neck and looking at the ground, ashamed.

Then he looked more carefully and found footprints, small human footprints.

Could this be from the interns hiding the tokens? Or maybe from Sammy? Thought the cadet. But even if they were from the twin, it didn't matter. It was his only hint.

So he followed the footprints. A normal person would miss the track, but he wasn't a normal person. He was trained, and these survival skills were among his favorites activities in the academy. But he was so focused that he didn't notice someone was following him.

And after a while, he reached a cliff over the lake. He walked to the top but there the tracks disappear, and there was no token.

Really? I was sure that was a good hint, thought Brick scratching his head, but then he realized something. The footsteps disappeared!

He walked to the border and looked down, and there it was, a token!

Brick smiled as he crouched, stretching his arm to try to grab the token. But it was too far away.

He looked around, but there was nothing he could do to get it. So he decided to climb down a little and get it.

The cadet stretched a little and began to climb down, but the rock was unsteady.

It's too dangerous to climb like that. I need to do something, thought Brick, who then went down the cliff and made an improvised rope using vines.

"It's not the strongest rope, but I hope it can do the trick," muttered the cadet, not realizing a squirrel was glaring at him. One of the squirrels he accidentally punched while looking for the token and who followed him from the forest.

He went back to the top of the cliff, tied the rope to a rock, and began to climb down the mountain.

As he suspected, some rocks fell apart when he put his weight over them, and he was saved by his improvised rope.

Then he, at last, got the token. It wasn't easy, but I got it.

Even then, the cadet's happiness was short-lived. As he began to climb the rope, he saw a purple squirrel gnawing the rope.

"Hey Mr. Squirrel! Stop doing that!" shouted Brick, as he climbed as fast as he could. "If you cut that rope, I may fall from the cliff."

The squirrel stopped for a moment, gave a dirty look at the cadet, and began gnawing the rope again, faster than before.

Even then, Brick was used to these desperate situations after so many challenges, so he began to climb quicker. He was about to fall a couple of times, but the rope and his reflexes saved him.

But he was too slow, and the squirrel cut the rope before he could reach the summit. Brick made a last effort and jumped with all his strength, getting a hold of the cliff's border with his hands.

"Phew, it was a close one," said Brick as he climbed the border. But didn't expect what he found.

The squirrel was waiting for him. As he showed his face, the squirrel charged against Brick, jumping at his face.

"Wait! What are you doing? Stop, or we'll fall," shouted Brick, trying to pull off the squirrel with one hand.

But before he could chase it away, both he and the animal froze at a loud rumble.

The cliff border couldn't hold both Brick and the squirrel's weight while struggling, and it broke off the mountain.

"Really?" shouted Brick as he and the terrified squirrel plunge all the way from the top of the tall cliff into the waters below.

After a moment, both Brick and the squirrel emerged from the lake, gasping for air.

Brick wiped the water from his face. "That was terrifying, but at least we're fine."

And as he spoke, a shark came out and ate the squirrel in a single bite.

"Oh c'mon!" shouted the cadet as he began to swim to the coast.

Confessional: Brick

"After the past challenges, maybe I get overconfident about how dangerous this treasure hunt would be," said a soaked Brick while scratching his cheek. He also had a terrified squirrel on the top of his head. "But at least I could save this cadet and got the token. I just need to be more careful in the rest of the challenge."

Sammy was running through the beach as fast as she could. She needed to make haste and find the 10 tokens because she knew she was at a disadvantage.

After all, her opponents were Courtney and Brick. Both were strong and trained in outdoors survivability, so it meant this challenge favored them.

But she couldn't give up. She needed to do her best for everyone who supports her, for Topher, for Jasmine, for Shawn, for Sky, for Duncan, and of course for Amy.

And Amy was the reason why she chose the beach. After all, her sister was an intern, so if she hid tokens, she would do it in either a place she feels confident or a place that has special meaning for her.

So the younger twin went to the place in which her sister trained all the mornings. It was a beautiful space on the beach, in which no one would interrupt her or watch her train. In fact, it was only a few days ago she learned her sister came here to practice.

So Sammy began to comb the beach, and under a shell, she found a token.

"Perfect, this was easier than I expected," said Sammy putting it into her pocket.

Sadly the rest won't be as easy. All the other places her sister would use were around the crater, and she couldn't go there. So Sammy decided to just keep looking around the beach.

She finished combing the place and then at the road. There she saw a small bunny gnawing one of the tokens.

The young twin smiled. "Today must be my lucky day."

She looked around for some fruit and found some berries in a bush. Using them, she crouched and tried to bait the bunny with them.

"C'mon little friend, come and get it. These are some yummy berries, mmhmm," said Sammy, rubbing her stomach.

The rabbit looked at her and twitched its nose, doubting about coming closer to her or not.

"Don't be afraid, they are delicious," said the twin, putting it near her mouth, feigning as if she ate it. "munch, munch much, see, delicious."

The rabbit smiled and hopped toward her, but suddenly it and the token were devoured by a giant snake.

"WHAT! NOOOOOO!" shouted Sammy. "You better spit it, you bully, before I-"

But before Sammy could finish her threat, an eagle came down and picked the snake into the air.

"Oh no, you won't," shouted the younger twin, who in a moment took out her handkerchief, rolled it, and put a stone on it.

"I just hope Jasmine sling lessons pay off," said Sammy, clumsily building momentum with the less than ideal sling, releasing it with all her strength.

And miraculously, the stone flew directly at the eagle's head, knocking it down.

"Yes! Maybe I'm some kind of survivalist genius," said Sammy overjoyed, as she ran in the direction in which the eagle fell.

And yes, the snake and the eagle were knocked down, so she now just needed to rescue the rabbit.

But how do I make It spit the poor bunny, I doubt I can reach it with my hand, thought Sammy, who then looked at a branch and had an idea.

Using the branch to press the snake's body, she pushed the snake as if the branch was a rolling pin, forcing the small rabbit to came out.

The bunny seemed scared but was fine, the token falling from its paws.

Sammy patted its head tenderly. "Don't worry, you're safe. Now go away before these bullies wake up."

The bunny nodded and began to hop away, Sammy waving at him.

"Now I need to go and find my next… HEY!" Sammy was thinking already in her third token when an animal took the token and began to run away.

The cheerleader began to follow the animal through the forest, it was quick, but Sammy worked really hard for that token and didn't want to lose it.

Then it entered a cave. Sammy hesitated but followed it inside anyway.

The cave wasn't completely closed. Many cracks in the walls let the sun enter it, so she didn't have problems finding his way inside it.

Then she reached the end of the cave, and what she found gave her a shiver down her spine.

"I don't think you're friendly, right?" asked Sammy with a sheepish smile.

Confessional: Sammy

The twin was looking at the camera with a thoughtful expression. "Sometimes, I wonder if I have good luck or bad luck. I mean, my life so far had been really miserable, but every time something happened that make the miser go away. Maybe life is a zero-sum of good and bad luck? What's clear is that I was just focusing on that question to avoid thinking how I will deal with that guy."

The former CIT had some luck with the tokens and was already leaving the mountains. It was obvious she needed to look for the tokens somewhere else.

So she began to look around the forest. She went first to the challenge area she and Brick used on the past challenge but didn't find anything. She then looked for Mike and Sammy's challenge area.

"Not bad, just look at this," said Courtney looking at the small shelters, "I must say the idea is quite good."

And inside the shelters, she found another token.

"I may have a talent for token hunting," said Courtney showing a big smile.

But after looking around the rest of the area, she couldn't find any other token. So she went into the forest again.

If I hid a token, where would I put it? The former CIT was trying to figure out the answer when a bee tried to sting her. Without thinking, she just smacked it.

But a loud buzz sound made her realize what just happened and that she was now in problems.

Behind her, a bee's swarm began to chase her.

"I'm sorry it was an accident," shouted Courtney. There was no way she could kill all those bees, so she ran away.

But the insects were persistent, following with unusual fierceness. She ran and ran, trying to tire them, remembering her CIT lessons.

Don't believe what you saw on tv. NEVER jump in the water to escape from bees or wasps. It's better to try to outrun them, Courtney thought as she focused on running in a straight line.

She was so focused on escaping that she accidentally tripped on a branch, falling into a mud pond.

"NOOOOO!" she panicked as she fell into the ooze, waiting for the bees to make her a pincushion.

But lucky for her, the bees weren't following her anymore. She was just covered in mud and made a fool of herself on international tv (again), but at least she was unscathed.

After taking off the mud for her face, she needed to focus on the next objective. Why were the bees so angry? She had a hunch, especially because this was Total Drama.

So she needed a way to chase away the bees. And also to cover her hands and face. She still has more than 3 hours, so she decided to take the risk.

The CIT went back to the cabins, changed her clothes quickly, took her ripped shirt, and tied it to a branch. After that she began to look for fuel, or oil, to make a torch.

I need to cover my face, smoke, and garlic then… Courtney thoughtwhen she realized that maybe she was too obsessed with the bees and ignored the white elephant in the room.

Chris forbid looking at the crater but didn't forbid them from looking in the cabins.

"So there can be some tokens hiding around," thought Courtney, face slapping.

So she decided to prepare herself to face the bees and also look for more tokens.

Courtney went and look in the arts and crafts tent, both cabins and the infirmary. Finding one more token.

She then looked at the boathouse.

"There is no way there would be a token inside, right?" Courtney muttered while entering the small shack.

Yes, it wasn't the original, but it was identical to the original. She and Duncan also gathered here and planned their moves during the merge.

"Focus Courtney. You can't get lost in useless thoughts right now," the Latin girl told herself.

But the memories of her kiss in the mess hall were engraved in her head. She was so embarrassed and flustered. Why did she do that? Why did she let her feeling overwhelmed her?

As she was trying to ignore her own thoughts, the former CIT accidentally went out of the boathouse and fell into the lake.

She went out of the water, gasping for air, and began to swim toward the dock.

"Really, what are you doing?" asked the Latin girl, who then smirked. "I'm even talking to myself."

But then she looked at the dock, and under it, she found a small circular object with a TD engraved. Maybe she was luckier than she thought.

Confessional: Courtney

The former CIT was dampened, with still some mud in her hair. "I just want to say that I'm only focused on the game, and my only priority is to reach the finale. I'm not a teenager anymore to get distracted by nonsense like romance or relationships." She said, but the hesitation in her expression betrayed her words.

And talking about wet people, Brick went out of the lake after fighting some sharks. The cadet was tired but happy after saving the squirrel, which was resting over his head.

The fight wasn't easy, he was scratched and lost his top tank, but at least he won.

But there wasn't time to lose. He needed to keep looking for tokens. Sammy went south and Courtney north, so he began to jog to the island's west side.

While crossing the forest, he found the road Amy was building, so he used it, and it went all the way around the island. In less than 30 minutes, he was on the west side. Unfortunately, he didn't find any token.

The west side was different from before. It has rivers, dams, and some woods around. There was no beach, and the stones made it dangerous to swim.

Now Brick needed to make a decision: search the beaver's dams or ignore this place and search for the tokens either on the coast or in the mountains.

"Well, it seems it's time to search on these friends' houses. But this time, I'll be more careful," told Brick to the squirrel in his head, which was still frozen in fear after being eaten by the shark.

The cadet walked to the dams. The beavers were working in them, gnawing a big tree, trying to put it in place to finish another dam.

The rodents turned at Brick, frowning, as he came closer. They didn't like strangers (much less human strangers) at their homes. Some were even slamming their tails at the wood menacingly.

"Hello, I'm Brick McArthur. I hate to interrupt you, but I need to ask you for your cooperation in an urgent matter," said Brick saluting.

The beavers looked at each other confused. They confronted all types of humans, but this was one the first that was polite enough to greet and ask for their help.

The cadet unaware of their drama continued to talk to them. "I'm collecting these small coins, so I need to know if you have seen some around here."

Most people, except probably Dawn or Ella, would think Brick was crazy or an idiot, but for the beavers his attitude was the right one.

The animals began to grunt and grumble among them. They had one of those things he showed them, but they weren't generous enough to give it for free. But the human was polite, and they don't really have any use for the token.

So, in the end, one of the beavers took it and throw it at him.

"Oh, you had one. Thanks a lot," said Brick, taking it. "But I can just take it for free. Let me help you with that tree."

Brick then helped them to push the tree into the gap in the dam. After a moment, it was in place, and the beavers began to cheer.

The rodents offered the unexpected helper some bark and roots to eat, but Brick politely rejected them.

"Sorry, I need to keep looking for the tokens," he said, but it was just an excuse to not eat their food.

Then a gray furred beaver began to grunt, pointing at the forest.

"Are you saying that a creature with a token lives in a cave down that road?" asked the cadet.

The beaver made a loud grumble and nodded.

Brick saluted. "Thanks for your help. I'll look into it."

He moved through the forest. The trees became fewer and fewer until he found a cave.

The cadet was nervous about entering, but the cave wasn't so dark, so he went inside it.

"It seems there is nothing to be afraid right friend?" said Brick to his squirrel friend, who had recovered.

Then a loud roar made him jump scared as the squirrel fainted again.

He was trembling, looking at the source of the noise, "it seems I speak too soon."

A huge sasquatch was in the cave, dressed in a bright green shirt with white pants with red polka dots. The big ape roared angrily at the cadet.

Confessional: Brick

Brick was without his shirt, with the frozen in fear squirrel still on his head. "No, I don't talk beaver, and I can't understand what they were saying. But I think that politeness and helping each other beat any language barrier. That or maybe the stress of the competition is making me a little crazy," he then lowered his unibrow, worried. "I really hope it's the first one."

Sammy was in the cave and felt a shiver down her spine.

In front of her was a ferret, but it was a big, white-haired, one-eyed ferret. It was resting over a collection of treasures collected around the island, including a token.

The animal gave her a dirty look after her question and then ignored her.

The twin then began to walk backward carefully to not provoke the mustelid, and after a few steps, ran outside the cave.

How am I supposed to beat that animal when even Duncan has problems against it? Thought the twin. It was impossible for her.

But she then slapped both of her cheeks. NO! I'm not the same weak-minded and coward Samey I used to be. I'm Sammy. I can do it.

She then decided to give it a try. She trained with Shawn and also learned a trick or two from Duncan. So she began to collect the things she needed.

Sammy went and took a shovel from the road construction site, just as her sister did in the last challenge. She collected some branches and rocks, adjusted her handkerchief, tied her hair in a ponytail, and painted her cheeks with some mud.

The cheerleader made her preparations, digging a pit and covered it with branches and leaves.

It's not perfect, but I guess it's good enough to fool the albino ferret, thought Sammy, expecting him to be a smart animal.

She then practiced throwing some stones with her handkerchief. Her aim wasn't as good as with the eagle.

Maybe I'm better while stressed. She threw another rock and failed by some inches. It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough.

At last, she felt confident to try her plan.

Ferrets can't kill people, right? Thought Sammy, she shook her head. No Sammy, stop being so negative. Everything will be ok.

She then entered the cave. As before, the ferret just ignored her. Sammy took a deep breath, feeling her arms burning as the blood ran through her body. The twin took a stone, began to spin it, and threw it.

The rock flew, hitting the wall behind the ferret hardly. The animal hissed and raised his head, looking at the twin running out of the cave.

The animal hair stood up, and it began to run quickly after her. The ferret was smart, quick, and strong, and it won't let a human mess with him and leave like that.

Outside of the cave was the pit covered with enough branches. It would fool a normal animal, but not the albino ferret.

He just jumped it easily.

But while it was jumping, Sammy came out from behind a tree and hit it with the shovel in the head. The airborne ferret couldn't avoid the hit, receiving the full force on his head.

The twin didn't take risks and hit it three times, three lumps appearing in the mustelid head before fainting.

"YES! It worked. I won," shouted Sammy jumping joyfully.

The plan was a great success, as she thought the ferret was smart enough to realize there was a trap and jumped over it. Sometimes being smart isn't a good thing, just as Courtney said.

The twin then entered the cave, and to her surprise the ferret had 3 tokens.

"Oh my gosh, it's my lucky day," said Sammy making a big smile. "But I wasted too much time. I need to hurry."

She went out of the cave and put the ferret back into it before going to the coast to look for more tokens.

Confessional: Sammy

"I beat it, I can't believe, but I beat it. To be honest, I was terrified when I meet it, but running away would never resolve any problem. I just hope I can still complete the 10 tokens, or at least find more than Brick or Courtney," said Sammy, sighing. "But I will worry about that in 5 minutes. Right now, I will enjoy my victory."

Back at the campsite, Courtney had already combed all the places except for the Mess hall. She was looking under the tables and then into the kitchen, but she didn't have luck.

She then looked at the fridge and then at the cabinets, but there was none.

"How weird. I was sure I would find more tokens here. But at least I found this," she muttered, grabbing a jar.

"Really? Are you talking to yourself? I knew you were crazy, but not so much," said Chef, glaring at her and chuckling.

Courtney rolled her eyes. "Chef? Didn't you have anything better to do than hanging in an empty mess hall?"

"I came because I need to start preparing dinner, and you, what are you stealing?" asked the big man, looking at the container in her hands.

"I'm not stealing. I'm using what I have in my hands, this is garlic powder, and I need it to chase away some bees," said the former CIT, holding the garlic with both arms as if she was protecting it from Chef.

But he just shrugged. "If you want the garlic just take it, but why do you need to play with bees. Are you looking for some honey?" said Chef in a mocking tone.

"No! I think someone put some tokens in their hive," replied Courtney in an upset tone. "So I need to make haste, excuse me."

Chef looked at her with wide eyes, sweating a lot. He put his hand inside his pocket and took off 3 tokens. "Damn it."

He forgot to hid them! That damn Chris would surely give him an earful about ruining the stupid challenge. So he needed to act quickly. He first stood up and put the three tokens inside the fridge.

Then he hurried up outside the Mess hall.

Courtney was there, already wearing long pants, boots, gloves, a piece of cloth covering her hair, and a net covering her face. She put some of the garlic on her arms and neck to chase away the bees. She smelled like a giant piece of garlic bread, but it was worth it.

And also, she prepared her torch, which was already soaked and lit. With all her preparations ready, she went into the forest.

"Hey girl! Maybe you should look into the Mess hall before going," shouted Chef, chasing after her. "Also, where are you going dressed as a clown?"

"I already told you I want to look at a bee's hive in the forest. So if you excuse me, I don't have time to lose," replied Courtney, trying to sound polite but sounded upset instead. "Also, I already spend 20 minutes looking into the Mess Hall. I'm sure there are no tokens in there."

Chef began to sweat, "are you sure? Did you look in every place? The fridge? The tables?"

"Yes, I'm sure, I looked in every place. Now if you excuse me, I need to go before my torch burns down," the Latin girl cut him before entering the forest.

"Oh man, how stubborn is that gal," exclaimed Chef, making a big sigh. "Now, if she loses the challenge, I'll feel guilty."

Ignoring the big man's feelings, Courtney went back into the forest. She avoided the mud pool and continued through the road she used to escape from the swarm.

The path was shorter than she remembered. Nothing like running from a lot of angry bees to muddle your spatial perception.

And as she got closer, the bees began to fly away from her. The smoke, oil, and garlic were enough. As soon as she didn't make any sudden movement, the bees will just avoid her.

And then she found it, and it was worse than she thought. The beehive was broken in one side as if someone punched it.

She got close carefully and, as she expected, in the middle of the honeycomb, found a token.

Courtney acted quickly, held a handkerchief, took the token, and put it into her pocket. After that, she went away slowly, letting the smoke and garlic chase the insects away.

The former CIT went away smiling, yes her strategy wasn't flawless (she was stung two times in the neck and somehow in her wrist), but she got another token.

Confessional: Courtney

The Latin girl was showing a cold smile with her arms folded. "Yes, at that moment I was really excited. I had many tokens and more than an hour to look for the remaining ones. But I never imagined how distressing that hour would be."

Brick was inside the cave, sitting in a rudimentary chair. This was probably the hardest challenge he had in this season, or rather, in all the seasons he had competed.

The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The cadet was frowning, and the sasquatch was frowning back. The giant creature was stomping his feet and roaring furiously, but Brick was impassive.

"NO! And I'll repeat it NO! Those polka dots pants require a shirt with a solid color, and you are covered in purple fur. You can't use a yellow shirt or a green one except to make a nice contrast, and this tone doesn't work," shouted Brick in a serious tone.

The sasquatch roared, almost smashing him with his fist.

"You want to succeed in your date, or you want to embarrass yourself? Fashion is more than using fancy clothes, your date will fail if you don't dress right for the occasion. And I can help you, so put aside your pride and listen to me," the cadet's eyes were piercing the big creature.

After looking at the Brick's expression, the sasquatch sighed audibly and sat on the floor, looking depressed.

Brick put a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, you have great physic and nice fur color. I'm sure we can put something together to make you look even better."

The sasquatch had a token but wasn't interested in giving it to Brick. Still, he had a date with a friend he wanted to have a serious relationship with. The problem was that the creature's fashion sense was… well, you already see it.

But Brick was a fighter, and he didn't go to fashion school in vain. So he began to look at the sasquatch's wardrobe, looking for a winning combination.

Most of the clothes of the giant ape were either with patterns or really bright colors. Polka dots, animal prints, floral, and the flashiest green, yellow and pink shirts you ever see. Everything seemed lost.

Then he found it. This could work.

"Please try this," said Brick, giving the sasquatch some clothes. The depressed ape took them and went to change, curious about what combination chose the soldier.

The sasquatch was dressed in black pants with white polka dots, a dark yellow shirt, and a zebra pattern vest, which showed his powerful purple arms. It seemed nice. Even if the vest and pants patterns weren't the same, they mixed well, and the yellow contrasted beautifully with the purple fur, making it look even better.

The sasquatch smiled at his image in the mirror. He looked great. The ape ran to shake hands with Brick, making some gratitude grunts.

"Don't worry, soldier, it was my pleasure to help you," said Brick, nodding. "Now, if you can give me what you promised."

Without hesitation, the big creature gave him the token and also a tacky green shirt that was too small for the giant creature.

Brick looked at the shirt with a worried expression. "Thanks, sir, but I don't really-"

But the creature just slapped him in the back, making a big smile. The cadet sighed and decided to accept his gratitude.

So Brick used the shirt to replace the old one and went out of the cave. He needed to make haste because there was less than an hour left.

Confessional: Brick

The cadet was wearing a bright green shirt that hurts any normal person's eyes. "I know, I know. But this isn't just an ugly shirt, it's an ugly shirt filled with the gratitude of that sasquatch, and also, I didn't have anything more to wear. So yeah, it may seem a little off, especially with my camouflage pants, but I'll use it anyway for the rest of the day."

Sammy went through all the island but didn't have luck finding tokens. There was none in the beach, nor the caves, nor in the woods. So she decided to go and look here, hoping no one else thought about it.

She was climbing the mountains on the side of the island. Yes, it was hard, and her arm hurt a little, but it wasn't that bad, and the mountain wasn't as steep as the cliffs, so she trekked more than actually climbed up.

But she was wasting time, which worried her because everything would be for naught if there was no token at the mountain's top.

After making it to the summit, she found it. The token was there, in the middle of the place.

It seems there are no eagles or raccoons, bears or tigers or anything, thought the twin, carefully watching her surroundings.

Once she was sure there was no danger, she went and took the token. She moved quickly to avoid any ambush by giant gophers, or giant snakes, or wolves, or anything else.

But there was nothing. The twin then looked down the mountain, trying to think of someplace she didn't look for.

Of course, she avoided the caves at the north because Courtney went there and also the woods at the east where Brick started.

Then she noticed it, there was a place in which she hadn't searched. The campsite!

Chris never said anything about not looking into the campsite. The only forbid zone was the crater area in the middle. Why she didn't realize sooner?

The twin began to climb down the mountain as fast as she could, but she needed to make haste, and then she noticed the lake at the side of the mountain.

It wasn't 10001 feet high, but it wasn't short fall either. Sammy needed to make a decision, and without hesitation, she jumped.

The twin dived into the lake and quickly swam to the beach. The sharks noticed her, but the twin ignored them swimming fast and full of determination. The sharks, either for respect to her courage or just slackness, didn't chase her.

Sammy ran across the island as fast as she could. Her training with Shawn and Jasmine paid off. She went across the uneven terrain taking advantage of the obstacles with an amazing speed. She was totally focused.

Then she reached her goal, the campsite, but there she found a smiling Chris McLean.

"Samey, you're really punctual. Congratulations, the challenge is over! Now it's time to count those tokens," said the host in his classic, mocking-like tone.

Sammy clicked her tongue and threw her head back. She was sure she could find some more tokens here.

Confessional: Sammy

"Why do I always have these great ideas when it's too late? It's the same when I go shopping with my family. I realize that this shirt or that skirt was the perfect one once we had left the store, went into the car, and drove 10 miles from the shop. It's so frustrating," said the twin sighing sadly.

After some minutes, Steve and Izzy had found Courtney and Brick and brought them to the campsite. There Chef, Chris, and Sammy were waiting for them.

"As I was telling Samey, congratulations, the challenge is over. But I can't believe none of you got 10 tokens. You're such a useless bunch," said Chris laughing, Chef chuckled nervously behind him. The host continued. "Anyway, you look awesome."

Courtney was already in her normal clothes but had some mud on her disheveled hair and face. Brick was dressed in a gaudy green shirt, and Sammy had her face painted like a jungle warrior.

"Stop clowning around, Chris, and let's get to the point. Who won the challenge?" asked the Latin girl. She was upset and tired.

Chris tsked and waved his finger. "Take it easy. There is something called dramatic build-up. This is an entertainment show, remember?"

"But we have been running non-stop for 8 hours. Can't you just speed things a little?" Sammy added, looking menacingly at Chris. She realized how blunt her comment was, so she decided to lower the tension adding an emotionless, "Please?"

"I want to add my support to that proposal, sir. This challenge really took a toll on all of us, physically, mentally, and emotionally," said Brick, saluting.

"Fine, I'm not a monster after all. So let's get into business," said Chris nodding while smiling. "As no one found ten tokens, we'll count the ones you found, and the two with most tokens will be in the finale. So please, enter the confessional room and put your tokens in these boxes."

Confessional: Courtney

"Maybe I'm paranoid, but, They can't change the number of tokens in the boxes, right? Or shuffle the boxes? I may sound hysterical, but after being cheated out one time, I'm kind of nervous," said Courtney putting the tokens in the blue box.

Confessional: Brick

The cadet put the tokens in the green box, smiling. "I did my best during the challenge, so I don't have anything to be ashamed of. If I lose here, I'll be satisfied. But I really hope I got more tokens than at least one of my opponents."

Confessional: Sammy

"Just when I realized that the camp was also in the competition. Anyway, there is no use in crying over the spilled milk. I still find some tokens, so I just hope they're enough," said Sammy, smiling and putting the tokens in the red box.

"Now let's go to the campfire site to start the elimination ceremony," said Chris making a mocking smile.

"Can't we just do it here?" asked Courtney, visibly upset.

The host tsked. "We can't do that. This's the last elimination. We need to do it the right way."

There was no use in discussing with him. After some minutes, the three campers, the hosts, and some interns were at the campfire site.

Courtney, Brick, and Sammy sat at the first line. In front of them was the infirmary's table (brought by Izzy and Steve.) And over it was the three boxes with the tokens.

Behind the table was Chris. He had a tray with two marshmallows. "I have to congratulate all of you. You really did a great job at today's challenge. I know you must be tired after running through the island for 8 hours. So let's get started."

"Wow, that's really considerate of you, thank you Chris," said Sammy, awed by the host's attitude.

"Of course, don't worry about it," said Chris, winking, "I have in this tray 2 marshmallows. These are special. The campers getting one of these will take part in the season finale for a chance to get one million dollars and the bragging rights of being the winner of Total Drama."

The Latin girl rolled her eyes. "Wow, thanks for hurrying up. You're so considerate."

"Really? I think it would be more considerate to skip the explanation," said Brick, not getting the sarcasm.

"Fine, let's get started. I'll open each box and count the tokens," saying this, Chris opened the Green Box. "We have here one, two ..."

"FIVE, the first box has 5 tokens," said the host, putting it all over the table.

Courtney pressed her lips and closed her eyes, trembling. Brick looked nervously at the table as Sammy clenched her fists. The tension was at its highest.

Chris enjoyed the atmosphere and then took the blue box, "Now let's count the tokens in this box. One, two ...

SEVEN. This box gets the first marshmallow."

Courtney began to cry with a big smile on her face. At last, she did it. She was in the final.

"Congratulations ma'am, you deserve it," said Brick saluting.

Sammy hugged her. "You did it. You really did it."

"Hey! At least wait until I announce who was the box owner. Anyway Courtney, congratulations, you're Tyranny of the Masses' first finalist," said, Chris throwing her the marshmallow.

The former CIT just caught it. She was so happy that she couldn't find the words, so she just nodded while Sammy rubbed her back.

Courtney was so moved and Brick so focused on her that none of them noticed the frown in the twin expression.

"Now let's find out who is the last finalist," said Chris opening the red box. "There are still 8 tokens left, so let's see how many of them are inside the red box. One, two…

FIVE. It's a tie."

Brick's jaw dropped, while Sammy nodded, already knowing she had also found five tokens.

"So this situation calls for a tiebreaker," said Chris making a big smile.

"Are we drawing lots again?" asked Sammy, not sure if she can find the lucky stone two times in a row.

Brick scratched his head, "Then let's do it, my luck isn't the best, but I won't give up until the end."

"Hehehe, sorry to ruin your expectations, but we won't have the tiebreaker tonight," said Chris, smirking.

"WHAT?" shouted the three remaining campers.

Chris raised his hands. "There isn't a tiebreaker challenge. The second finalist will be chosen by the fans through the app, after all they're the real masters of this season. And we'll announce the winner the same day as the finale."

"Are you crazy? You can't do that!" shouted Courtney, standing up.

"Sorry, Courtney, but it's already decided. Remember this isn't a democracy, it's a Tyranny," said Chris, winking. "so you're dismissed, go and take a nice rest. All of you're still eligible to compete in the finale."

Sammy, Brick, and Courtney looked at each other and then went away. There was nothing more to do. Courtney was in, and Brick and Sammy would compete for the second ticket to the finale.

Chris looked at them, enjoying the drama. "So who will win the tiebreaker and become the second finalist of the season? And what will be the finale? These questions will be answered by the fans. Enter the app and vote now. Remember, you're the true master of the season. And find out the result of the polls in the next and final episode Total Drama: Tyranny of the Masses."

Author Notes:

And who will win? Well it's YOUR time to be the Tyrant of this season, mention who you support in your review. You have until the next chapter release to cast your vote. The finalist will be announced in the first part of the finale.

Surprised? I debated a lot about letting the readers chose or not the last finalist, and in the end I think it's the right choice for this kind of season. I hope you enjoyed the episode.
