It wasn't long until Ame escaped the dreaded hospital. The medic-nin worked on her eyes for a few hours until she let her go. Chikako knew she wouldn't stay in the hospital so she let her out on the condition she goes straight home and wears the bandages. To which Ame obviously agreed.

So here she sat, in the Shinobi bar at the end of her street. She'd arrived around 7 and was grateful that it's almost officially a Friday. She doesn't know why that matters to Shinobi but it holds something of the special sort. She had sat in her normal seat that she took on the rare occasion that she did visit the bar. It was more of a pub than anything fancy and she liked it that way. It was a comfortable place to drown ones sorrows when it is necessary. And today she deemed it necessary. She was already on her second little flask of warmed sake and was sipping slowly, silently, letting her mind pour over recent events. She wasn't quite sure how it had got this way.

"Kakashi's partner!" an almost familiar voice boomed across the small pub. Oh no. She spun the padded bar seat around slowly. The alcohol hadn't got her drunk yet but the effects were becoming apparent now she was spinning on the stool.

As she did, a man in an unflattering and familiar green jumpsuit approached her.

"Hi, Gai, is it?" she asked, for some reason, she felt timid. When is the last time she had to socialise with people she didn't know outside of missions?

"Maito Gai, the Leaf's Noble Green Beast, at your command, madam" he bowed dramatically causing onlookers to watch our exchange. She suddenly felt her cheeks redden with so much attention on her.

"Ame," she almost whispered, hating how shy she suddenly felt.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ame. What brings you to this fine establishment." His voice projects incredibly, she wouldn't be surprised if everyone could hear the conversation. He leant on the bar next to her seat and waved over a tender.

"Same old, same old," she insists as she sips at her sake.

"I refuse to believe you are here alone!" he announces and she wanted to let her head rest on the bar in shame. He orders 2 beers and Ame finds herself looking around to see who he's with.

"I guess I enjoy my own company," she smiles timidly at him.

"Oh, of course! One such as yourself would make great company to oneself!" he announces, "Well! I shan't bother you further then!"

"Wait-" she finds herself reaching out and her hand rested on his arm.

"I'd enjoy your company if you're alone too."

"Such youthful energy Ame-san!" he smiled broadly showing off extremely white teeth. "It just so happens, right now I am indeed alone." he seemed to shout each word.

"Perfect" she smiled. "Where do you prefer sitting?"

"The booths of course!"

"To the booths!" she found herself saying after him loudly, liquid courage and all.

She found she really liked Gai. Under all of his exuberance, he seemed like a really decent person and she liked that. She always found it difficult to be around unkind people.

It seemed, however, Gai, could not hold his liquor well. I suggested we have a water drinking competition to try and sober him up, which he jumped to, and won. However, now all our conversations seemed to be interrupted with our toilet breaks. She found herself laughing at the silliness of the night, and surprised at how much fun she was having.

"Our water drinking competition seems to have turned into a toilet break competition!" Gai called out filling the now noisy bar with our predicament. He sat next to me on the old red leather booths now since the noise of the bar made it difficult to hear over the large table.

"I'm glad I bumped into you tonight, Gai-san," she admitted. he smiled brightly at her.

"You'll watch out for Kakashi won't you?" his question sparked curiosity and surprise.

"Are you two close?"

"Of course! We were brought together by our love of the power of youth!" he exclaimed standing raising a fist in the air. How did Gai give out so much good energy? She wondered if anyone could feel bad around him. His energy was the total opposite of Kakashi. He was always calm and controlled. He settled back in his booth swirling the remains of his 6th beer in the pint glass. it seemed a rule that he get 2 at a time.

"Watch out for him, will you?" his tone turned, for the first time in the night, he seemed almost calm.

"He doesn't seem like a man who needs looking after, he seems to have everything figured out." She drank the remnants of her 2nd Sake flask.

"He might look calm and collected on the exterior, but on the inside, he burns with passion, Ame-san. Don't underestimate him." Gai nodded downing the foamy dregs. "He has had a more difficult life than most, even as a small thing. The number of times I've had to stop him drinking himself to death, or help him when he's having a panic attack, waking him up screaming from nightmares, watch him mourn at the memorial stone every single day, and even-" he stopped himself, Ame hadn't realised how far she'd leaned in. She cleared her throat lightly and sat back.

"Sorry I didn't mean to pry" she answered honestly. "Next round is on me." She smiled warmly giving him an out of the conversation. She stood up and Gai mirrored her letting her out. The words Gai had spoke washed over her. She knew all shinobi struggled with their demons, She's sure even Gai must have his own. She gulped at the images that flash behind her eyes. Kakashi just seemed so formidable to her, she began to wonder how a person like that could even be captured in the first place. the memory of him chained to the floor now brought nausea rolling in the gut.

"Fret not, you don't need to apologise, it was my own doing. Seems I become loose-lipped when intoxicated." She laughed along lightly with him. Her cheeks began to heat from the liquor.

They made their way over to the bar to order another round.

"You'll have to excuse me Ame-san, our competition is catching up to me again," she giggled as he waved her off, heading to the bathroom. She felt nice. The alcohol made her feel light, as did the company. She'd not enjoyed a night so thoroughly for- well honestly she couldn't remember. She leant over the bar and grabbed the bartenders attention.

"Warm sake please, and two of the Iwa's pints please." She called out leaning over the counter so the bartender could hear. The pub was packed now, she could barely hear Gai over the noise. Who would've thought it was so busy on a Thursday?

"Iwa pints?" a husky familiar voice whispered near her ear and she froze.

"Kakash…" she breathed out still facing away. Her eyes widen she looked slowly up and round to the person standing directly behind her. His gaze was calm and intense all rolled into one. His headband was missing and he wore black loose pants, probably anbu pants, and a black short sleeve loose t-shirt. With, of course, his mask that travelled underneath his t-shirt.

The alcohol in her system seemed to burn hotter as it coursed through her veins. She finally managed to regain control over herself and pulled her eyes forward, waiting for her and Gai's drinks.

"I didn't take you for the sort that drinks Iwa pints" he was at her side now, and she could hear the smirk in his words. He was almost shouting above the noise. Iwa pints were famous for being dark brown, full of iron, thick and smooth. You normally only saw big burly men drink them as they tend to make you throw up easily.

"What sort is that?" she quipped. "Since you've assumed so much about me, go ahead, assume the rest of me." She didn't face him as she spoke.

"Ame…" she didn't distinctly hear her name but he breathed it near her.

"So, are you stalking me?" she changed the subject after the air got too heavy.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, why would I do that?" He leaned down to talk to her, it seems he too, might be a little drunk. His tone was low and gravelly. She could smell the sweet sake roll off his breath. She felt her heart beat faster and faster in her chest. He inclined down to her, their eyes fixed on each other momentarily, it felt like a forbidden act. As if something else might occur between them as they neared one another. She broke the eye contact and spoke into his ear that he offered.

"You show up everywhere I go, and I've never seen you before we were partnered." The hand she placed on him for stability as she stretched up onto her toes, hummed with electricity when it made contact with his warm chest. The smell of his scent mixed with sweet sake might be the undoing of her.

"It is as much as a mystery to me as it is to you," he talked loudly again, "we actually live in the same area. I live a few buildings down from you, towards the Hokage's tower" she felt her eyes flare at the information.

"You're telling me it is just sheer coincidence?" she shouted up to him now.

"Unfortunately" he nodded and she could see the smirk below his mask. She watched as his eyes fell to her lips. She couldn't resist licking them slowly. The sake on her lips made her wonder what he tastes like. She pulled her gaze from his masked lips.

"I swear the higher power hates me." She called out again. He snorted a laugh behind his mask. The bartender gave her the drinks and she paid for them. She picked up the two beers but suddenly faltered, wondering how she was going to carry them all. She looked up to Kakashi, a silent plea for help.

"Are you with someone?" he bent down and spoke into her ear. The way he said it made it seem like he was suggesting something deeper.

"I am, but I think you'd like him" She smiled knowingly, finding herself hilarious. She told herself it was the sake but she knew she was hilarious, sake or no.

"Is pretty Ame on a date?" she faltered as they made their way over to the booth but managed to weave in and out of the crowd. Her cheeks burned relentlessly. She hesitated wondering if she'd heard him correctly over the noise. She managed to shake it off. telling herself she probably misheard. She looked back to him, under her fluttering eyelashes.

"Green is a pretty shade on you, Kakashi." She was hinting at jealousy but also waiting for him to see it's the Green Beast of Konoha. She smiled again at herself. They were almost at the booth when he spoke up again.

"Shouldn't you be in the hospital, anyway?" She looked left and right thinking of what to say.

"Nope. All healed." She gave him her prettiest smile and something bloomed within her when she saw his smile falter. His gaze at that moment felt like it saw right through to her soul. She hadn't realised she had stopped until Gai spoke up.

"Akari!" Gai called out. She silently cursed herself at her own loose lip-ness. Gai had asked if Ame was her real name or her code name, as it was what Kakashi called her. She hadn't spoken her real name aloud for years, no one had ever asked really. She realised she goes by Ame now more than anything. How sad is that, a code name is used more frequently than her real name. She looked up to Kakashi who was looking at her quizzically. She didn't know if it was because she was here with Gai or the name he was calling her.

"Kakashi! Old friend you finally made it." Gai came and slapped him on the back a little too firmly causing the drinks Kakashi was carrying to spill over the edges, over his hand and onto the sticky floors.

"Sorry Akari-chan, the queue was long and I couldn't find you at the bar!" he shouted, his words were slurring a little. She felt Kakashi's eyes still on her and she suddenly felt too hot.

"Do you guys want to sit outside for a bit?" she called. They nodded and wove their way to the back entrance. They found a single free bench in the masses of wooden benches and sat. It was chilly outside, but it was a haven from the noise of the inside. The alcohol was keeping her warm at least. Or maybe it was the way Kakashi was looking at her. Kakashi and Gai both sat opposite her. She felt like she was at an interview. Gai and Kakashi were chatting amongst themselves as they all sat.

"Yeah, we all got here about an hour ago. We were wondering if you were going to show"

"Such little faith my dear brother." He slapped him on the back again causing Kakashi to shake his head. "Akari-chan has been keeping me company this whole time, I got here early even." Kakashi's eyes fell onto hers as she was sipping her warmed Sake. Something was being said with his eyes but she couldn't tell. He kept his Sharingan closed but his onyx one sparkled for her. She didn't realise she was staring at him with her lips almost taking a sip.

"Oh Asuma is in town!" Gai called out and Ame jumped. "Excuse me lovely folk, but I must go say hello. It's rare to see his face after all." He called getting up, "not as rare as his though." He gestured towards Kakashi before he left the two of us.

"You laugh so easily with Gai" she couldn't make out his tone but it sounded more like an observation than anything.

"Doesn't everyone?" she took another sip of her sake and watched as he watched her lips. "Oh, do you want some?" she spoke out and he dragged his gaze from her lips to her eyes.

"You'd share the same cup?" he asked quizzically as he leaned forward on the picnic table. She felt herself snort unlady-like earning her a rare genuine smile from the copy nin. She blinked a few times before she realised he asked a question.

"Considering where these lips have been on you before, I'm sure sharing a cup with you is nothing to call home about." She laughed as the sake swirled in her body. she looked up to meet his gaze and saw only hunger.

"Where have those lips been, Ame?" He must've been really drunk to be talking to her like that. Lust seemed to drip off every word sending warmth to her core. She watched him, wondering if he was as sober as he seemed. She squeezed her legs together under the table, trying to ignore the way he looked at her.

"And of course, we've shared a cup before, it's no big deal. But if you're uncomfortable with it I can go get another cup." She stood as if she were going to leave the bench but he took the cup from near her. He brought his fingers to his mask, and the cup nearing his mask. "I won't look," Ame promised, and she didn't she scanned around the crowd until she heard him place it back in front of her.

"Ah," he exhaled in satisfaction and she realised its one of her new favourite noises after the groan from today. Her mind drifted wondering what other noises he made would make her list.

She realised she was staring at him, lusting after him and shook her head.

"What brings you here?" she asked innocently.

"The birthday of a fellow shinobi," he says vaguely. She nods sipping her sake, bringing her body together as she started to feel the cold.

"Who?" she found herself saying.

"The Nara clan's leader, Yoshino." He watches her for a moment before getting up from the table. Her heart drops as she watched him walk off and she lets out an exasperated sigh until he gracefully takes a seat right next to her. Her whole body tensed at the closeness. He didn't put his arm around her, but he sat close enough that the side of his body pressed against her. It did something funny to her body. The warmth from his shoulder seeped into her and she welcomed it further.

The sake must've really hit her because she found herself leaning on him, letting out a satisfied hum.

"You're so warm," she nuzzled into his arm and places her cold hands around his bare skin. It felt like warm silk under her fingertips. Her mind started to wonder if he felt like that everywhere. A soft hum escaped her lips again, and she wasn't sure if it was from the warmth or where her mind had wandered.

She brought her head up to see him gazing down at her. His eyes were dark and heavy. Her hand slid further up his arm, warm and soft. He shuddered underneath her touch, his eyes grew heavier as he looked down at her. Her gut warmed and she found herself craving his hands. She wondered what they'd feel like between her thighs, running down her back, running across her breasts. She felt her mouth opening slightly as her breathing changed. The air felt heavier and her body ached for him. She wanted to know what his tongue felt like on her skin, how his lips tasted.

His gaze reflected her own need as he leaned closer, she welcomed it. Even through his mask his breath was warm against her skin. She couldn't remember where they were, all she could see was him.

His masked lips pressed against hers. They were warm against her own. He placed the lightest kiss on her mouth but Ame's lips were burning deeper than skin at his touch. She felt his jaw quiver softly as if she would break with anything more. His scent swirled through her senses intoxicating her. She didn't notice the soft whimper that escaped her. Heat rose to her cheeks between the hot shaky kiss that smouldered through her body. A slow-burning lust flowed down her as he released her. Her lips tingled from the feel of his. Her breath ran between them shakily. He didn't move away and rested his forehead on hers momentarily. His lips parted and his breath fanned over his face, sending her further into delirium. She had to fight to open her eyes but when she did she met his. His gaze was heavy, both his eyes open. An emotion she couldn't place stared down at her. His Sharingan swirled as she watched under her lashes. His hand was lightly resting on her upper thigh, torturing her with lazy strokes of his thumb.

She wanted to feel his lips against hers again. Wanted to know what they felt like without his mask. Wanted to run her tongue over them. She found him leaning in, her name whispered from his lips.

"Ame," he pleaded softly just before their lips met again. He dragged his mouth against hers, scaring her lips forever. He pressed more firmly but so tenderly. Slow-burning hunger pulled between her legs for him. She never wanted to stop. Soft sounds escaped her. His hands came to rest either side of her face, cradling her, guiding her. She suddenly felt like she didn't belong to her own body anymore. She was floating. He pressed his lips against her again, her own jaw started to tremble at the touch. One of her hands raked her nails through his silver hair, the other softly held the front of his t-shirt. She held the back of his head, moving with him. The way he kissed her was agonisingly tender.

"Ame! Is that you?" She heard a voice off into the distance of the crowd. It was like ice water had been thrown on them. They looked at each other wide-eyed, their faces still too close. She whipped away from him looking in the opposite direction. Her heart slammed in her chest and she was breathless and dazed. Her eyes scanned the crowd but her brain refused to register the information.

A familiar short and round man came through the small outside crowd. She looked back to Kakashi in panic, but he was gone. Her heart pounding in her chest faltered, her shoulders dropped slowly. Something she couldn't place passed over her as she stared into the empty space.

"Ame!" she looked around to the nearing man and swung her legs from the bench, meeting him halfway.

"Taiyo-san! What're you doing here?" It took all her effort to greet him with a smile.

"Just meeting up with some of my friends from the academy days" he answered warmly.

"You were Shinobi?!" she cried in disbelief and she was thankful for the distraction. All the years she'd known him and she had no idea.

"Indeed I was, but after a while, I decided to settle down and open my shop" he smiled at her. Just as he finished talking a warm hand rested on the small of her back. It took everything in her to remain standing at the sensation. If she were sober she would've felt ridiculous being so affected by something so small. But here she was, drunk, pressing her legs together to stave away the growing pressure between her legs. A mixture of emotions swirled within her, but mostly, she was achingly relieved he hadn't abandoned her without a word after that.

Taiyo-san's eyes looked between the two of them thrice and shock registered on his face. Ame's features grew at the same rate registering Taiyo's thoughts. She shrugged her back pushing Kakashi's hand off and regretted it as soon as she did. The warmth disappeared and he managed to put a little distance between them.

"Anyway, Taiyo-san, I was just leaving so I'll see you at the shop this week, yeah?" She hurried the older man as her breathing picked up. Being around Kakashi was making her head swirl. The ache grew between her legs and she leant her shoulder against Kakashi who rested his hand at the small of her back again. It took everything in her not to moan at the relief of his hands on her. She couldn't think straight. She didn't know what Taiyo-san was saying to her. She found her eyes back on Kakashi who was watching her with lust in his eyes.

She didn't know when she left Taiyo-san, didn't know when they'd come inside but he'd suddenly pushed her against the wall in a dimly lit corridor of the pub.

He kissed her like he needed to be kissed. He kissed her like he was starved of her. She pushed back hungrily needing more. He lifted her against the wall and she wrapped his legs around him willingly, clinging on to him. Her hands pulled at his soft hair, angling his face up to her. Her eyes prised open and found he was looking to her. a plea in his gaze. They shared a knowing look before she closed her eyes slowly and reached for his mask. She wouldn't look, she just needed more.

The first kiss he gave her was like nothing she had experienced. His lips were full and hot, pressing against hers. Her body quivered under the feeling and she whimpered. He dragged his mouth over hers. He barely let his tongue escape as it dragged across her lips. He relished tasting her, gently sucking her bottom lip. She didn't know how much more of this she could take. Her head was spinning, delirious with need. Her mouth trembled as she prised it open. Electric ran through her as their tongues slid over one another. the taste of Kakashi was enough to bring her to the edge. she moaned against him weakly. She felt him tremble between her legs and she clung to him. He groaned at the sensation and her core shuddered with need. He pressed harder into her and she greeted him with as much force. He swallowed the moans that escaped from her as their tongues intertwined. His hands dropped from her sides, cupping her from underneath. His hands tortured her. They were dangerously close to her core and she needed it. Needed him there. Needed all of him. She hadn't realised that she had craved him for so long, and now his hands were over her, sending her into a frenzy. Their breaths were heavy, panting between chaste kisses.

"Stop me," he panted between them. She replied with her tongue running across his sake lips. the sensation made her core throb. His lips met her more greedily as if he feared that she would heed his words. The only thing she knew was that she needed him. She pulled his head back, keeping her eyes closed,

"Ame," he sighed her name and pressed a kiss on her swollen ones. "Ame," he breathed as he pressed a kiss to one corner of her mouth. He breathed her name again, pressing a kiss to the other side of her mouth. "Open your eyes, Ame." He ran the tip of his nose over her lips and up her jawline, finding her ear. "I want to see your eyes, Ame," the breath flowing past her ear made her body shudder, "open them for me," he pleaded in a whisper. Her hands began to tremble and they slipped from his hair. She found the sides of his face and cupped it, pressing a gentle kiss to his full lips.

She covered the lower half of his face with her hands and slowly prised her eyes open. She wasn't ready for the sight that greeted her. He was panting softly, his breath flowed through her fingerd. Flushed, his eyes heavy and his hair messy. She felt her eyes scan all of his face that she hadn't covered, she burned it into her memory. She burned it into her mind like it was the last time she was going to see him.

"Kakashi," she exhaled, "if that's what you want, ask me again when you're sober." She hated herself. There's nothing more she wanted than to carry on, but deep down she knew he wouldn't come back to her if he was sober. She gulped at the thought, fending off the feeling that planted in her belly.

He released her from the wall dropping her gently. She did her best not to look at his face and he adjusted his mask back into position in her peripheral.

He looked down at her, something in his gaze made her chest ache. His Sharingan swirled until he shut it slowly. She stared up at him drinking in the sight of him. His hand came up to her face and his fingers ran through her hair. He let the long lengths slip through his hand.

"Goodnight, Ame." He murmured before turning around and leaving her in the dim hallway. She watched him until he rounded the corner. She slumped against the wall and exhaled weakly. Her legs still felt like jelly from what transpired. She rubbed her face and took a deep breath before pushing off the wall.

She didn't bump into Gai or Taiyo on the way out and for once she was grateful. After weaving in and out of the dying crowd she made her way to the front of the bar and the fresh air hit her. She inhaled deeply and tipped her head back towards the cloudless night sky. She watched the stars twinkle down to her before forcing her legs to move. She dragged her fingertips across her swollen lips, savouring the taste of him still in her mouth. she groaned at herself for being so level headed.

She didn't want to think what it meant. She didn't want to wonder if it would ever happen again. She didn't want to think whether he would ever look at her like that again. She wanted to believe she'd be OK if that's all it was.

Deep down she had a feeling he was going to break her.
