Kakashi
Kakashi awoke, prising his eye open. The glow of the orange artificial light greeted him. He blinked slowly, taking in his surroundings. The sound of Ame's soft breathing caused him to slowly look down to her, through a sleepy gaze. She was snuggled into his bare chest, her breath whispered across his warmed skin. His insides ached at the sight of her. Her hands were placed between them, braced on him. He inhaled her scent as it swirled around him. He closed his eyes and rubbed his cheek softly on the top of her head. A content sigh escaped his lips.
Memories of last night flashed behind his lazy eye and his gut warmed. He knows he shouldn't be here, knows he shouldn't have done what he did. Knows he should stop. But he couldn't, he realised he never could have. Guilt threatened to plant itself in his heart but instead, he opened his eye to look at her again. A strange feeling rose in his chest and he felt like he had absolute clarity.
His strong arms lifted her so her face was level with his. She stirred a little without opening her eyes.
"Kashi…" she uttered in a whisper. He pressed his lips against her parted lips. The electricity made his jaw quiver. Her naked body pressed up to him already had him hard. He craved her, more than he'd ever needed anything. She murmured against his lips slowly waking up.
"Ame," he whispered as he released the kiss, trying to rise her. Her big silver eyes cracked open and blinked heavily a few times before a smile lazily spread across her face.
"Kakashi," she greeted groggily, she sounded almost amused. He felt his heart falter at the sound of it, at the sight of her smiling sleepily up to him. He lifted his hand from her waist and cupped the back of her head, kissing her lazily again. He ran his tongue over her lips, savouring the taste of her and her own tongue met his. Her nails gazed over his skin sending heat south and a shiver through him. Her hand made its way between them and wrapped gently around his arousal. He felt it throb with need in her hand as the feeling in his gut coiled tightly. He groaned as her hand stroked down the length of him. His hands moved off their own accord and massaged her full soft chest. He loved the sounds that whimpered from her. He needed to hear them.
Even though she was up against him, the arm that snaked under her neck pulled her closer to him. He needed her closer to him. Wanted to feel her crushed against him. She moaned at the tightness of the contact and her hand faltered.
He wove his legs between hers and in one quick movement pulled her on top of him. He was now lying on his back and she lay on top of him under the covers. Her eyes lazily watched him as their mouths explored one another's. He would always crave the taste of her. Her knees slid down either side of his torso and the wetness of her core coated his abdominals. Her hands braced herself on either side of his neck as she rose a little off of him. Her heavy chest was the only contact of her torso and he relished the feeling of them weighing on his own chest. The remnants of them both from last night trickled down her leg and puddled onto him further. He felt himself harden almost painfully, the anticipation of filling her again brewing. He could feel his member leaning on her bare ass and his mind went somewhere darker.
He found his hands travelled down and cupped her soft ass as they kissed. She lifted herself off him without breaking the contact of their mouths until the last second. He found his head following her, not wanting to stop, but eventually falling back onto her pillow. She looked down at him, her skin flushed and her eyes heavy. Her chest heaved causing her full swollen breast to sway. He felt himself gulp under her stare. She ate him alive with her eyes before sinking down his length.
He couldn't help the loud groan that escaped him, she moaned in sync with him. His hands snaked up to her hips, his thumbs resting in the crease between her torso and her legs. He took in the sight of her sitting on him and he felt like he was going to release just from seeing her wrapped around him like that. He wasn't sure if he had ever seen anything like her.
He felt too weak with desire to do anything but watch her as she pulled up, and slid back down, wetting his cock with her own desire. She shuddered around him and he groaned again. Something awoke with him as she sped up. Watching her chest bounce along with her disturbed something primal in him.
He reached up grabbed her opposite arm, yanking her down to where he was lying before. She was lying on her belly face down and he held himself above her. She groaned as he was pulled from her and he missed the warmth around him. He took in the sight of her below him, admiring her pretty ass and her pretty back. She brought her hands above her head holding the material of her pillow as she spied over her shoulder curiously at him.
He moved his face to her ass and gently bit on the soft plumpness causing her to hiss with pleasure. He moved lower and hoisted her thighs up, propping her on her knees. He couldn't help but fall back onto his knees and take in the sight. Her desire dripped out of her core and his tongue began to beg him to taste her. And he did. He lowered himself to it and took a single long lick up her middle. She loudly moaned in response sending pleasure shooting through him. She tasted like a mixture of the two of them from the previous night and his cock ached, needing to be inside of her again.
He rose on his knees and slid himself in, watching her face as he did. The pleasure bolted through him, the position felt so good. Watching her face contort with the same pleasure was enough to make him dangerously close to release. He slid in and out a few times controlled, slow and hard coaxing the noises he so desperately needed to hear from her. He wanted her to taste them on his tongue. He lowered her knees to the floor as he moved down with her, not releasing himself from her lower warmth.
He ran his tongue slowly up her back making her shudder under him. She clenched around his length and he faltered trying to breathe through the threatening release. She twisted her neck to him as he sank back into her deeply. He crushed his body to hers as they both lay flat, with him inside of her. He coaxed her mouth open over her shoulder and she tensed under him briefly, as their taste hit her, before hungrily lapping from his mouth. He began moving in and out of her slowly, savouring every part of her as they kissed strongly, weaving over each other's mouths over and over.
He faintly heard a knock at her door and they both faltered. Her hungry eyes met both of his, slightly more aware than she was before but he didn't stop. Didn't change his pace. She groaned but bit down on those beautiful full lips and he found he wanted to bit it for her. He leant down and she kissed him once. Their tongues slid across one another before he brought his teeth to her lower lip and nipped. She groaned fully and her cheeks flushed harder.
The knock at the door sounded louder. And awareness settled fully in her dazed face but he didn't want to stop until they were finished. He ran his teeth lightly over her shoulder and she shuddered again.
"Kashi," she breathed, "the door" she moaned out as he moved her back onto her knees. Kakashi didn't think he'd ever get tired of seeing her ass in the air ready for him to take her. He rose to meet her entrance again. She put her head into her pillow and moaned loudly as he slid back into her. He didn't want to rush this, he wouldn't. He slid in and out of her slowly but strongly. She groaned loudly into the pillow, as some fell from his own lips as he took in the sight again. The smell that filled the room made his head hazy.
"Taichou, I can sense you're in there" a familiar nin's voice travelled through the door and he cursed at him in his head. But it wasn't enough. She looked up to him over her shoulder as he took her from behind. Her eyes were wide and he smirked at her darkly.
"Kakashi?" he plunged back into her harder and she moaned loudly without the pillow.
"This isn't over yet, Ame" he warned. As he pulled out of her slowly and slid himself back through her wetness even harder. She moaned back into the pillow. He repeated it a few more times as her moans grew more desperate.
"Door" she panted out unable to say more.
"Not until you cum for me, Akari." His voice came out husky and low, vibrating through his chest. He began to speed up and release threatened him. He fought it, his face growing angrier and pained. "I want to hear you, Ame."
"Taichou," she whimpered as he pounded her harder. He watched her face contort and then watch as he lashed in and out of her entrance. His hand began aching, needing to mark her bare ass that stuck in the air. He slapped her soft cheek and she yelped in pleasure as he sped up, sliding in and out of her effortlessly and harder. Something primal inside of him roared.
"Again, Ame" he panted desperately as his release threatened. "I want to hear you scream for me." It came out more of a panting whisper. Desperate to hear her. Her moans were incredible and loud. She could've woken the whole street with them and he lived for it.
She started to clamp down on his length and it was their undoing. He heard her scream for him as his own release shot out of him forcefully. His balls clamped upwards as his member shuddered inside of her. His whole body convulsed as pleasure shot through him. He tried to keep his eyes open to watch her cum but they were squeezing shut at the force of his release. She writhed in front of him, shuddering and clamping down around him.
A quieter knock sounded at the door. He sighed and pulled himself out of her, the overwhelming sensation as his shortening length sliding out of her caused him to quiver as he stood.
He strode over to the clothes she gave him last night and yanked them on, along with his face mask. He took one last look at her ass in the air still in the high of her release. He swallowed at the sight and forced himself to walk towards the door.
He opened it widely and unashamed as Tenzo's paled face looked him up and down, taking in his appearance. He knew he wouldn't be able to see Ame from this angle but something protective kicked in and he stepped outside, shutting the door behind him.
"Yo," he greeted his old teammate lazily, shoving his hands in the pockets of the baggy shirt. Tenzo stood agape blinking widely at him. "What's up?" he asked after the silence stretched out.
"Hokage wants you to go to him immediately." Tenzo's voice was hollow as his eyes fell back to Kakashi's shirt. Kakashi's own gaze dropped to it and saw a large worn out graphic of an old but bright pink comic book hero popular amongst young girls. He couldn't help the smile that twitched at his lips. The door creaked open as he retrieved his sandals and yanked them on.
"Lead the way," he gave a tight smile to the baffled Tenzo who had most definitely heard Ame screaming his title. He smiled under his mask at the thought.
He stood in the Hokages office still high from the events that just unfolded. His cock twitched limply in Ame's oversized shorts that fit him just fine. Her clothes smelled like her. He wonders if this is what she sleeps in. He could smell the aftermath of what they'd done thoroughly. His mind was hazy as the Hokages words echoed around the office. He found he could barely listen.
"Do you understand?" the third said. Kakashi realised he didn't know what he had said. He forced himself to listen. Tenzo answered for him.
"Yes, Hokage-sama," he saw Tenzo's eyes slide to him but the expression etched in the Hokage's features should've made him concerned, but it didn't.
"Yes, Hokage-sama," he said as the Hokage looked at him expectedly. The thirds eyes dropped, assessing Kakashi's clothes. He cleared his throat without thinking as the frown deepened in the old mans face.
"Dismissed, both of you." They turned in sync and Tenzo gave him a 'get out before he changes his mind' look'. The pressure released as the door behind them shut.
"Long time no see, Tenzo," Kakashi spoke as if he didn't have a care in the world and nothing was different. He hadn't seen him since that day. The day Team Ro's mission went wrong.
"Taichou." His old teammates' eyes looked forward at the stairs as they both started to descend them.
"I'll need a debrief on what the Hokage just said." He broke the silence. His eye's slid to Kakashi quickly and back to the stairs.
"There was more information just gathered on the village. We lost two nin for it." His tone remained even. A short silence followed the words. "It seem's someone powerful has defected from the Sand and is causing trouble in the their Village. It seems he might be the culprit who eliminated all our spies. Seems the Kazekage wasn't aware of the spies and believes their own ninja were killed. He's not happy about it either."
Kakashi took in the information. He had read the brief of the mission whilst Ame rested after fainting in the office. It was fairly simple. Investigate what happened and don't reveal their presence.
"So, now do we investigate the rouge or monitor the village." He wondered, his finger curled on his chin in thought as they stood outside the exit of the Hokage's Tower.
Tenzo waited for him to speak again.
"We will assess the village first, investigate their current state, and go from there with the rouge."
"Taichou," Tenzo confirmed.
"Gates at 6 am tomorrow." He spoke without needing confirmation as he walked away. His hands shoved in his pockets.
"Yes, taichou" Tenzo answered from behind. Kakashi raised a hand bidding farewell as he made his way back to the naked woman he left mid-come down. His cock twitched to life at the thought.
Ame
Oh god. She managed to sit on her now wet futon. Their releases coated the sheets. Aftershocks of how hard she came still writhed through her every now and then as she contemplated.
The hot blood flooded her cheeks as she thought about what had just happened. Last night, this morning, then there was that person at the door who must've heard her. She'd obliged him not unwillingly, screaming for her taichou. Her hands covered her face but a smile crept on her lips and she shook her head in her hands.
She flopped back down with a satisfied sigh escaping the smile she couldn't fight. Her hand ran up her body remembering the feel of his hands and she squealed revelling in the feeling of kicking her legs out.
She tried to calm down but the high she was riding didn't seem to want to leave, and she found she was ok with it. She rolled onto her side and breathed in. The pillow smelled like him. They'd slept together after sleeping together. She blushed as she brought the duvet over the lower half of the face. How did that feel more intimate than having sex? She lay in the damp sheets on the side he slept, with her face in the pillow, thinking about him as she drifted back to sleep.
Kakashi
He opened the door to her apartment and turned the light off as he went. The daylight was strong today and lit up the small space enough. He went around the corner to find her nuzzled in the bedding, sleeping.
His eyes ran over her as he took in the sight of her. Her naked leg wrapped over the top of the duvet and he did his best not to jump her again after this morning.
He walked over quietly and crouched next to her. He looked at her peaceful sleeping face and took his mask off his face. He reached out to her and tucked a lock of her lilac hair behind her ear and admired her beauty.
She stirred and prised her eyes open, looking at him. The same lazy smile pulled on her lips as it did this morning.
"Hey," she said through the smile.
"Yo," he greeted her, unable to keep his Sharingan closed.
He watched the sheet fall away, revealing her chest, as she stretched upwards. Her eyes squeezed shut and she let out a small umph. He swallowed as his mouth ran dry. She looked back at him and her smile fell slowly at his expression.
"You should get dressed." He commanded. Before he can't control himself again. A slow smile spread across her face as she pulled the covers off her to the side slowly. He couldn't help but drink in every exposed inch of her. His breathing changed as the fire in his belly ravaged him. He squeezed his eyes shut and got to his feet.
"We need to talk" he announced and opened his eyes, watching her face drop. "About the mission." He clarified and watched her shoulders sag with relief. She nodded as she stood up, baring all to Kakashi, who watched her like she was art.
She didn't seem to mind as she walked to the bathroom and started the water. He groaned internally. The shower he took yesterday seemed to change everything and he didn't know if it was a gift or a curse. His eyes watched her disappear into the bathroom.
He looked down at himself thinking maybe he should go home, shower and change.
"Hey Ame," he called.
"What?" she called over the sound of the water and through the door.
"I'm going home to change." He said louder.
"What!" she shouted not hearing him.
"I'm going-" he started again louder but laughed to himself and shook his head. He opened the door and the vision of Ame bathing greeted him. He made himself look away, how did she make such menial things look so Divine?
"I'm going to go home to change." He projected his voice and she flinched twisting around to him, not hearing the door open. He laughed as she covered her womanhood and chest. He took the single step to the shower and slid the glass door open. Be cold feel the coldness of the water from the door and a chill ran down him. Why does she shower in cold water?
"I'm going home" his eyes stayed on her face. "I need to shower and change, too" he spoke softly, watching how her eyes sparkle. She nodded and he watched disappointment wash over her. He had managed to find all the micro-expressions she made. He used to think she didn't express anything but found them only when he began to look at her more deeply.
"We should discuss the mission,"
"Sure,"
"Want to get tea?" He asked "as we didn't make it to last nights dinner?" He added as an arrogant smirk lazily pulled at his lips and heat rose to her face. He watched her swallow as her eye shifted.
"Yeah, sure" she murmured turning breathless. He watched her eyes dip to his lips.
"I'll come here when I'm done," he heard his own words turn a little breathless and suddenly he found he couldn't look away from her lips. His hands wanted to reach out and explore every inch of her but he resisted. He cleared his throat and looked at the shower floor as he began to move away.
A wet cold hand caught his neck and she crushed her lips to his. He groaned with pleasure and surprise. He slowed it down as their tongue began lazily sliding across one anothers. The taste of her would haunt him. His mouth buzzed with electricity, sending voltaic charges through the rest of his skin.
It came to a natural end and he found he couldn't open his eyes for a moment after. He inhaled deeply, her scent filling his head. She smelled of warm wood and dried mandarin flowers. He internally laughed at himself for being so oddly specific. He prised his eyes open and a slow soft smile stretched at her lips.
"See you then" he breathed softly. He kissed her once softly on her lips before turning and leaving her apartment.
Ame
Ame sat in the chair of her small dining table staring at the uneaten food of last night. The feeling she had been riding all night and morning had faded a little and it occurred to her how much they shouldn't be doing this. Whatever this was.
She couldn't fight it though, she knew she would be lying to herself. When he was around her she couldn't control herself. He had truly corrupted her. A small smile threatened her lips as her mind poured over everything that had happened. Something beneath her chest hurt as the images of him chained to the ground flashed across her memory.
A familiar presence appeared outside her front door and a knock sounded. She took no time to walk over and get the door.
"Yo," he called down to her. One of his forearms rested above her on the door frame. She knew under his mask lay an easy smile.
"Hey," she gave him a small smile and she watched as his face fell slowly.
"You ok?" his features pulled down to a frown.
"Yeah, course." She looked past him. "Ready?"
"You regret it." He said flatly and straightened from the door frame. Her eyes widened at his directness. He wasn't asking her. She felt her own features pull-down, pained.
"No," she breathed bring a hand to his chest, "I don't" she felt the tension in his muscles below her touch relax. He brought a hand over hers and pressed it into his chest. She loved his hands. "But, isn't that a problem?"
He didn't let go of her hand but looked away from her, his own face mirrored her expression.
"I know, we both know, we can't do this." His words cut through her, all the way to her soul. She knew he was right. She couldn't think of anything to say. "I don't think I can stay away, Ame, I don't want to." The feelings swirled within her like a tornado meeting a hurricane.
"We are partners," she spoke hearing her own sadness.
"We are,"
"You're my Taichou" she almost whispered, not realising she was nearing him. She watched something flicker in his gaze.
"I am,"
"I'm your subordinate" she uttered under a breath as she looked up to him. She was so close to him the warmth of his body radiated onto her. The smell of him engulfed her. He smelt like summer sun and pine trees.
"You are," he breathed over her face.
"We should keep it professional," her eyes became heavy as his lips neared hers.
"We should," his heavily lidded gaze was mere inches away from her.
"Professional" she whispered before her lips grazed his. She shuddered under the feeling increasing the pressure. They broke the soft kiss confirming that they both had approximately no control over themselves.
He laughed singularly after it broke.
"That went well," his lazy low voice sent something through her. She couldn't help but smile up at his masked face. "Come on let's go," his hand went to hers and she flinched away, surprised. She shot a surprised look at him by accident and he mirrored it.
"Sorry," he spoke and looked ahead.
They spent most of the walk to a small tea shop in each others company comfortably.
Kakashi
He wanted to bang his head against the wall. He cursed himself thinking back to it as they walked quietly to his favourite tea shop. He hadn't even realised he stretched out for her hand. He looked at her shocked with himself, and she mirrored his expression. She looked almost horrified. He hadn't meant to. It was just another reason why he shouldn't be around her. He had never been so out of control of himself.
"This is it," he nodded with his hands so firmly in his pockets it might drag his anbu pants down.
"You come here often?" she looked up to him with those big innocent eyes, he faltered before he blew out a laugh.
"I think we're past the lame pick up lines don't you?"
Her eyes grew twice the size and she froze mid-step. He laughed lightly and held the curtain in the doorway up and motioned for her to enter. She ducked through slightly and he resisted the urge to rest a hand on the small of her back as they entered the small shop.
"I think we skipped all the steps," he heard her murmur under her breath. He felt his face falter at her words. He found he didn't really know what the steps were.
"Ah, Hatake-san, good to see you again. It has been a while," the familiar owner greeted him warmly and she bowed to him. He bowed back slightly deeper returning the greeting.
"It's good to be back Miyu-san," he greeted her. "I'm afraid I got lost on the path of life," he dodged the responsibility of not coming for two weeks.
He used to come here with his father when he was a kid. He stopped coming here for a long time after he died, but he realised he should cherish the memories like that. Since then he had come here nearly weekly until he met Ame. Seems she had affected most things in his life. He felt a smile wanting to form, playing on his lips.
"For two?" she spied him curiously wanting to know more but not asking. He'd never brought anyone, he realised in that moment. A blush threatened him but he pushed it down. He'd known her since the first time he came with his father. She was in her late teens and always very respectful. She dressed the same as she always had in the silk sage green kimono with a cream robe poking through. Her obi cream with intricate gold stitching of cranes and trees. He always appreciated how much she respected the art of tea.
"For two." He confirmed. Ame's eyes were on him. He could feel her nervousness from beside him. He gave a smile and closed his eyes down at her. He pushed her gently to follow after Miyu-san and she stumbled forward after her.
They approached the seating area, and Miyu-san gestured for them to take their seats.
"Our best seats in the house, for our favourite guest." Miyu-san's words surprised him and he felt his ears burn as he sat.
They took their seats on the floor chairs on the tatami after removing their shoes. The tatami was on a raised platform and a small dark wooden table lay between the two of them. A large round window looked onto the well-maintained traditional Japanese gardens. It is where he used to sit with his dad.
"Thank you miyu-san" he bowed his head at her and she bowed back. He glanced over to Ame and she was sitting too straight, her cheeks burning. Her brows were slightly raised and her eyes slightly widened. If he wasn't so nervous too, he'd probably find her amusing. He didn't know why he was so nervous but it suddenly crashed down onto him like a breaking wave when they sat down.
"What tea today?" Miyu asked politely.
"Surprises us," he smiled his classic smile up to her and she returned it nodding, before walking off, excusing herself.
The tea shop wasn't overly formal or pricey. It was quiet and Miyu is a genius when it came to tea and making blends herself. As he said, he appreciated the effort and knowledge Miyu had. Now she was around thirty and she seemed to become a master already in the art.
"I've been coming here since I was a kid," he broke the nervous silence between them.
"Miyu is like your Taiyo," she seemed to murmur to herself, lost in thought. He cocked his head to the side slightly watching her.
"The mission starts tomorrow," he dropped. Her gaze locked onto him and she nodded.
"What time shall we leave?" she asked. He got so caught up in her that he forgot she didn't know.
"Ame," he sighed. "You've been taken off the mission."
"What?" she raised her voice and then looked around her. There were paper dividers between all the tables offering them complete visual privacy but people could still hear.
"Your eyes haven't healed." He warned her.
"How would you know what condition my eyes are in?" she argued back whispering harshly after raising her voice too loud.
"It wasn't my decision, it was the Hokage's." She scowled at him knowing where the Hokage would've got the information from.
"Ame, you collapsed in his office. He wasn't going to send you after that." He levelled her scowl.
She sighed and looked out the window. He watched the thoughts pass through her features.
"I've been assigned with my old subordinate, we are leaving tomorrow." He announced.
"Tomorrow." She repeated and he nodded confirming her non-question. He watched worry flash through her eyes. He didn't know what it was for.
Miyu approached them with a clear pot of tea on a tray along with an assortment of other things. She knelt beside them placing the tray on the tatami.
Miyu placed a round table mat at the end she knelt by, then two rectangular mats in front of Kakashi and Ame. She placed the clear pot of hot water on the round mat, and then placed small handless cups in front of the two of them. She continued and placed a plate of mochi wrapped in a leaf next to their teacup. She lifted the teapot lid and placed a large dried flower in the hot water and replaced the lid.
The dried flower absorbed the hot water and began to alter.
"House-made premium green tea and natural fresh flowers," Miyu announced. "This is the Blooming Flower Tea. The flowers will bloom into a sakura colour. It is the Spring special. Please enjoy." She bowed deeply as she knelt and the two returned it with a head bow.
"Thank you," Ame softly spoke earning a smile from Miyu and Ame blushed a little, embarrassed for some reason he didn't know. Miyu left again and they watched as the flowers began to bloom in the hot water. He pulled down the mask of his undervest and it hung around his neck.
"Do you trust your teammate?" her voice broke through the silence and his brows twitched down.
"With my life." He responded and he watched relief pass through her, but questions lay in her eyes. She spoke up after a moments pause.
"Then, why aren't you still teamed up?"
"After our last mission together the Hokage disbanded us." He stared at the water as the tea-infused.
"If I asked, would you tell me?" he looked up to her and she was watching him.
"Why're you so curious about it?" he asked with a smile playing on his lips. He watched her cheeks redden and she looked down at her hands below the table.
"No reason,"
"What's the reason, Ame?" he insisted softly. She didn't look up to him.
"Recently, since that mission," she started and hesitated at her next words, "I have nightmares about what they did to you before I retrieved you." His heart faltered at her words.
"What?" he asked breathlessly his mind malfunctioning. She still watched her hands in her lap.
"I just thought maybe if I knew what actually happened I'd stop dreaming of scenarios of what actually happened." He didn't know what to say. He just gazed at her, his mouth slightly parted.
"I just don't get it." She continued and looked up to him now, "you're the Hatake Kakashi. I've seen you fight, you're formidable. How could anyone capture you?" He managed to blink at her words.
"I'm not invulnerable, though, Ame." He spoke softly to her. "It was a complicated mission, they targeted my weaknesses." He pulled back and sat up straight, looking at his empty teacup.
He reached over after the tea had infused and held it out to her.
"Would you like some?" he offered and she nodded, bringing her teacup closer to the pot. He poured it delicately making sure hot water didn't escape and burn her. He poured himself some before putting the teapot back down.
He looked up to her and hated the haunted look she had in her eyes. He sighed softly as he brought the cup near his mouth.
"You really think it would help if I told you?" he sipped at the warm light liquid and savoured the depth of the flavour. The sweetness of the flowers delicately combined with the fresh green tea made the glands in his jaw tingle.
"If you really don't want to say then it's fine, I'm sure they'll stop soon." She looked into her untouched cup. "Don't feel like you're inclined to tell me." She offered.
"There are 6 members of Team Ro." He began quietly. Almost whispering. "One defected a few years ago, and on our recent mission," he hesitated, "one other betrayed us." She looked up to meet his eyes taking in the information. "He and I split up from the other three, we had suspicions. He was acting strange since the beginning of the mission but I trusted him. He had defected and had sold me out to the highest bidder and left me there after setting me up." He sighed as the memories flashed through his eyes. The strange feeling of betrayal crept along his insides. "The people who caught me wanted information on Konoha." He stared her dead in the eye, "they didn't get it."
She blinked at him, her face trained.
"What did they do to you in the bunker?" she asked weakly. She hadn't touched her tea.
"The usual," he tried not to recoil at the memories he had of it. "The strangest thing was the poison they used on me, I couldn't muster up any chakra. I could barely feel it in my system. They also had a genjutsu user that tried to break my mind."
"I'm sorry Kakashi," she spoke softly.
"Why're you sorry? You saved me from that place." He pulled his brows down in confusion.
"I took too long finding you," she looked away guilt racking her. "All the hours I took resting and eating, I could've found you sooner if I just carried on."
"You might've not found me at all if you were in bad condition. And even if you did, I doubt you could've got through the missing-nin." He argued trying to lessen her guilt but he knew how she felt. There's not much he could do to relieve self-inflicted guilt. He pushed her tea towards her.
"Drink, it's good." He offered. She brought it up to her lips and flashbacks of the bar crossed his mind and had him smiling. She watched him over the cup and sipped at the tea. Her face morphed at the taste and her shoulders sagged in relief. The way she hummed her satisfaction had his gut warming.
"It's incredible," she hummed with satisfaction again, sipping and swallowing slowly. He shook his head of the thoughts.
"How about a secret for a secret?" he found himself offering. She scowled at him and he hoped the memories of his semi-betrayal went unremembered. But, he knew she would think of it. She didn't let on if she had. She just tutted and placed her cup down.
"What do you want to know?" she sighed and looked up to him. He smiled as she resisted smiling back at him. She had watched his face a lot as they sat there, he wondered if it was because he wasn't wearing his mask.
"Why don't you like teaming up? What happened with your team, really?"
"That's two secrets," she pointed out, "you'll have to choose one."
"Which would you rather answer?" he put forward. She took a moment to consider.
"My teammates, there were four of us," she began, "there was a small army of missing-nin that had set up an organisation and there was word that they were going to launch an attack on Konoha. We were sent just to gather Intel, but they had an extremely competent sensory nin." She sighed.
"The organisation stayed in a naturally occurring underground cave. Things went south and we weren't going to make it. We were overwhelmed. One of us was already eliminated, the other two were grossly injured." He watched pain flash through her eyes, her gaze set on the garden out the window.
"My teammate Keisuke, he called out for me to collapse the cave, he said he wasn't going to make it. And, that at least one of us should live to 'spite all these fuckers',"she laughed darkly and singularly as she quoted her teammates words, "we didn't really get on all the time, but I considered him a friend. At that moment he was my last real friend alive." He watched her gulp and he found his chest began to hurt for her. "I didn't want to do it, but, I did. Only the nin who sensed us escaped that day. I don't have high chakra store. The fighting and then collapsing the entire cave system took it out of me. I couldn't finish the job." The fist that was holding the cup now balled up tightly next to it.
Kakashi found his hand moving of its own accord and covered the fist she made. She turned her head to him and her shoulders relaxed. She unclenched her hand and interlaced her fingers with his.
Heat rose to his cheeks at the odd sensation. He couldn't remember ever holding hands with anyone before. It was more than just warmth between their palms. He squeezed it lightly and she squeezed it back. He didn't want to let go but he did. His hand snaked back around his cup as he continued to drink it.
"I vowed I'd never been on another team that day," her words surprised her. "I didn't want to witness my teammates dying, I didn't want to ever be responsible for another life other than my own again." She spilled her second secret without him asking for it again. "Even since I was young, after my father, I didn't want to be close to anyone. I have my reasons but, my teammate's death just reinforced it." She turned to him now, her eyes of molten silver swirled.
"And then one day I was called into the Hokages office and paired up with the infamous copy nin. The fact that you were so well known made it worse. If you died because I couldn't keep my teammate alive then the whole world would know I failed to protect you as a Shinobi should."
"It isn't your responsibility, Ame." He leant over the table between the space. She looked at him like she didn't believe him.
"So you're telling me that you don't feel responsible for the death of your teammates?" she asked directly but not unkindly. He sighed, of course, he did.
"A secret for a secret." He uttered between them, "you shared both with me, its only fair I do, right?" she leant her arm across the table, her hand open. He looked at it for a moment before interlocking their fingers over the distance.
"You asked me once if I lived up to my names," she flinched from his words slightly and tried to unlace her fingers from his, but he held on.
"I didn't mean it, I was angry, I'm sorry I said it." She couldn't look at him.
"They're true." He cut across her apology and her eyes snapped up to him. "They're all true."
He began to talk about Rin, he'd introduced her to Rin on their last mission. But, this time he filled in what happened to her after Obito passed. How Kirigakure had kidnapped her and trapped the Isobu in her. How when he found her, he took on the army of Kirigakure nin's, how he put his hand through her chest. He couldn't look at her then. She squeezed his hand after he finished and the rest of their tea had gone cold.
"She sacrificed herself, Kakashi," Ame's eyes were full of understanding, not pity. "I want to be mad at her for using you as a means to her sacrifice, causing you so much more pain" she smiled sadly, "but, I can't. I know if I were to die in her position, I'd rather it be at the hand of a friend than enemy nin." Her gaze became unfocused as a thought crossed her mind. "Maybe that's why Keisuke wanted me to collapse the cave on him before the nin could finish him..." She spoke quietly as if she were wondering to herself. Her gaze was distant.
He'd never thought about it like that. His chest was tight at the memories that passed through him. Hurt watching the pain in her face. He suddenly felt filthy realising the hand that went through Rin, now held Ame's hand. He released it and put it under the table. He didn't notice as he began rubbing it against his trousers as if they were covered in infinite blood.
A heavy and pensive silence followed them until Ame's belly gurgled loudly. He snapped his head up to her watching embarrassment morph into her beautiful face. He couldn't help smiling broadly as she met his eyes. The red in her cheeks darkened.
"Come on, let's go eat." He realised they hadn't eaten in far too long.
He needed to take his own advice and take better care of himself.
