Hey this will be the last chapter to the story but nevertheless this has definitely been my favourite so far to write and I hope it shows in the writing. As per usual, thank you for reading each view means the world to me!
Chapter 5 – The Storm Over Warm Waters Brings The Sweetest Rainbow
"I need to find her and I need to find her now", Inuzuka muttered under his breath as his body had seemed to take over the running for him.
Any distance seemed inconsequential for him in this state the one thing on his mind was the thought of Hasuki being comforted by Maru, that idea made him feel nearly sick to the stomach. The thought of another man with Hasuki brought his rage out in ways he didn't care to admit.
Almost sprinting through the seemingly never-ending corridors of the black doggie dorm Inuzuka finally reached the near full capacity communal room. The sudden swinging on the old oak doors and the presence of a clearly antsy brought the concoction of sounds to a total silence, bar from the heavy breaths escaping Inuzuka's mouth. After pounding his legs through the opening of the communal room he simply looked up at the gawks of his fellow students and ordered, "Where's Hasuki?!".
The gawks slowly morphed into a room-wide muttering with a decipherable conclusion clear with the atmosphere and odd regards toward the female side of the dorm.
Clearly reading the room Inuzuka began to storm up the stairs which dissected the vast room and began sprinting towards the female black doggies residence.
Though he knew not the exact location of his love his legs pressed on even without his conscious effort, 'what if Maru is with her? I can't finish second here!'. These thoughts had seem to take over his mind as he stomped throughout the female dorm; gauging by the reactions of his fellow students the displeasure in imagining his love with another man had taken affect on his facial expression likely morphing it into a scold that would paralyse even medusa.
"Seriously where is she?! I need to find her now and tell her… tell her…", Inuzuka was cut-off abruptly with the almost heavenly sight of Hasuki talking with some acquaintances.
Her blissful smile brought a smile of equal proportion to Inuzuka's face, just seeing her had a physiological affect as great as this on him, even the dead cold scold that tainted his usual handsome face begin to gently form one of happiness. However, upon closer inspection the outer rim of Hasuki's eyes had reddened and there were clear visible bags under eyes.
'Shit, I did this I think it's only right I fix this, huh?'
After appropriately hyping himself up for the task at hand Inuzuka boldly stepped forward. Upon seeing the Black Doggie leader approach the group of girls surrounding Hasuki quickly dissipated going in each and every available direction. The short distance between the two of them was quickly shortened until Inuzuka felt like Hasuki may be able to hear his heartbeat.
"H-Hey Hasuki"
"Hey Bro"
"C'mon how the hell can I not figure out this stupid problem", Inuzuka uttered to himself in frustration.
Hasuki, reserved and meek, had completed said problems with ease a short time ago. Observing the charismatic child leader of the Black Doggies Hasuki almost felt a sense of duty to help him through his struggles as he vouched to help the Black Doggies through theirs.
Slowly approaching his elementary school table from behind Hasuki began to understand the simple mistakes Inuzuka had made on the math questions.
After slowly plucking up the courage to intervene Hasuki began to speak, "You forgot to subtract the 4 from the 11".
Shooting up in surprise Inuzuka sharply turned to meet the eyes of his classmate and visibly began to understand what was told to him after taking the advice he quickly implemented the fix into his work. Once he had completed the alterations to his work his jubilation was clear and he turned and quickly hugged Hasuki, to her surprise.
"Hey who are ya? I betcha've heard of me", Inuzuka, confident in his beliefs, almost shouted.
Still attempting to process the events of the previous minute Hasuki finally uttered, "I'm H-Hasuki".
"Well I'm your bro Inuzuka!", he quickly dashed a smile and continued, "thank'ya for that just I think ill be needing ya brains in the future".
As Inuzuka triumphantly walked away Hasuki was left flustered by the unexpected interaction with head of the Black Doggies. A sharp incline in her heart rate, the flushed feeling in her cheeks and the sudden onset of weakness in her knees gave her more than a fair indication of how she was feeling in the moment.
'I like… I liked that smile of his, his charisma and his… his… him'
From that moment the now second-in-command had her life's course drastically changed to encompass being closer to Inuzuka; her sense of style had changed and her confidence levels had shot up yet her feelings for Inuzuka never changed. Now for the first time they'd had a spat. Hasuki didn't know how to handle it so upon seeing Inuzuka she attempted to grasp what was etiquette in this situation.
"How'ya been Bro?", Hasuki quickly uttered whilst still averting her gaze to the floor.
The confidence previously flowing through Inuzuka had vanished at the thought of forlorn hope to have Hasuki forgive him.
"B-Bro-".
"Hasuki", Inuzuka quickly interjected forcing a small squeak from his smaller companion, "Look, I know that its too late for me to say any of this, I know that you don't feel the same for me and I know that Maru already has your heart but I need to say this".
"Bro li-"
"No please don't stop me Hasuki I NEED to say this. How long have we known each other? Going on 10 years now yet I only recently realised how much of a dunce I had been. I'd been looking for a girl everywhere except right in front of me. Now I know its too late but I hafta do something or I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Hasuki… Hasuki… HASUKI! I LOVE YOU! I CAN'T IMAGINE A LIFE WITHOUT YOU. I NEED YOU. I LOVVVEEEE YOUUUU".
After finally finishing his declaration Inuzuka simply slumped his head down with the tears slowly tainting his cheeks. He had said what had to be said even if it was a futile attempt at winning back his love. To his surprise however a gentle hand caressed his cheek, the familiar feeling of warmth that only recently had been so distant was right with him again. Slowly easing sore eyelids apart and bending his aching back upwards he saw the image of perfection in front of him.
Hasuki, on her tiptoes, leant on his chest and using a silk cloth began to wipe away the tears from his cheeks. A gentle smile had taken form upon her face, the soft aroma of her perfume tingled Inuzuka's slowly clearing nose and her hair parted just perfectly to expose the pinkness of her cheeks being enveloped by a vivid red.
"Jesus bro you really a big dummy sometimes you know?". Hasuki quickly scolded Inuzuka.
Caught aback by this comment Inuzuka was stunned to silence.
"Yeah a dummy, me and Maru aren't together what you saw the other day was Maru asking me out and me rejecting him. Similarly to this he needed consoling so that's what I did I consoled him with a hug".
Inuzuka finally comprehending what Hasuki had been saying to him replied with a barrage of questions, "So you're not with Maru? You don't love him? You're not in love with someone then, are you?".
Replying to Inuzuka's questions as quickly as they came Hasuki uttered, "no, no and yes". However the final answer was distinctively meek. "Do it properly", she managed to continue although at almost a whisper level.
Inuzuka finally realising what Hasuki is trying to get from him, sharply wiped the tears off of face, straightened his clothes up, took a small step back from Hasuki and bowed quickly in front of her.
"H-Hasuki! I love you. Will you go out with me?". Inuzuka bellowed hoping he had not got the wrong idea again. Looking up he was met with Hasuki inches from his face.
Suddenly, Hasuki swung her arms around Inuzuka's neck and upon her tiptoes once more slowly leant into Inuzuka. Stopping abruptly just before locking lips with Inuzuka she smiled and uttered.
"Yes yes yes yes Inuzuka! I love you! I LOVE YOU!".
