Zamasu's Past and Plans Revealed!
The silence in the room is palpable. The Herians stay silent, even though Saigo looks like he wants to say something. Goku stares at Vegeta with wide eyes while Zamasu's broken mind can barely even comprehend what Vegeta said.
So, in the etiquette manner that Zamasu does everything, he is the first to speak. "I'm sorry, what?!"
Summarizing everyone's thoughts in one statement, everyone waits for Vegeta to explain. Vegeta looks at those present, and he suddenly blushes slightly in embarrassment. Muttering incoherently under his breath, the saiyan prince suddenly says, "Fine, fine! I'll tell you why, alright?!"
Vegeta sits down, his signature frown adorning his face. "The saiyans weren't always a race of warriors. During our more primitive times, we were a very curious race. We longed for exploration and discovery. However, we had one flaw. We tended to evolve based on what interested us the most."
The prince takes a deep breath, then sighs. "It's how saiyans can adapt so suddenly in extreme situations and how we can be so resilient naturally. At one point, we were the smartest race in existence because we strived for science and building. We were one of the first races to do so."
Suddenly, Vegeta's mood darkens. "However, after centuries of prosperity and intellect, a foreigner to the planet brought along a new discovery. You see, the original planet Sadala never had a moon, and as such, we never knew we could become Oozarus during a full moon. This stranger though, he somehow knew."
Vegeta scowls deeply. "The foreigner introduced half the planet to blutz waves, forcing them all to transform with no warning. This triggered the evolutionary trait of the saiyans and caused half the planet's population, and their descendants, to lust for battle and fighting. Just like primitive animals…"
The prince shakes his head. "There was a war between the science-loving saiyans and the now brutish saiyans. Eventually, the scientists were killed and the brutes left the planet to Planet Plant, which was renamed Planet Vegeta. From there, the saiyans built upon a society of strength and honor."
Vegeta's eyes burn with hatred as he spits out, "Then came Frieza's family, only a couple years after moving to Planet Vegeta, and they subdued the saiyans and forced them into submission. For the last 30 or so years, we have been forced to follow that tyrant, never even given the chance to make a name for ourselves. We were once mighty, and now, we are nearly extinct. I hate it!"
The prince breathes in deeply, trying to calm himself down. He lets out a heavy sigh and continues. "But now, with Frieza gone, I can revive the saiyan race. We can finally realize our true potential, just as we three have."
Story and explanation finished, Vegeta tries to cross his arms, but his chest tells him otherwise. He frowns and says, "There, you have it all. The history of the saiyans and why I want to bring them back."
No one speaks for a few moments. Then, Zamasu suddenly says something. "It… makes sense."
Everyone turns their attention to the punished kai as he thinks, using this as a distraction from his previous revelation. "Yes, the saiyans seem to have immense potential, and not just for battle. If used properly…" Zamasu begins to grin. "Yes, yes, that could work! I'll need Beerus-sama's permission of course-"
Suddenly, Vegeta's eyes snap wide open. "Beerus?! Did you say Beerus?!"
Zamasu turns to Vegeta, pulled out of his musings. "Oh, ah, yes, I did. I have a plan involving the saiyans that would please Beerus greatly."
While Vegeta just gapes, Goku frowns in confusion. "Who's this Beerus guy you are talking about?"
Vegeta, still slightly shocked, mutters, "Strongest being in the universe. The God of Destruction. He's at least a million times stronger than Frieza. And that's no exaggeration."
Goku's eyes widen immensely. "Wow, someone is that strong?! I hope I can get that strong someday! Then I can fight him."
This causes Zamasu to smile in amusement. "If only you knew how right you are, Son Goku." Turning his attention back to Vegeta, Zamasu states, "If we can use the current battle prowess of the saiyans, we can create a type of 'justice fighters' or 'mercenaries' that can protect the universe. Especially from threats like Frieza."
Vegeta closes his eyes and sits back. "As much as I believe that would please Beerus, giving him some time off from the destruction, it won't be so easy to convince the saiyans. We are still naturally prideful and full of battle lust. Two-thirds of the population are warriors, and many of them are not kind or keen to listen to someone with such intentions, no matter how strong they are."
The prince suddenly glares at Zamasu. "More importantly, I want to know how you know of Lord Beerus. To my knowledge, he rarely leaves his domain, wherever that is. And you certainly weren't present when he arrived on Planet Vegeta! Who are you really, Zamasu?"
This makes the kai pause. Despite all this time, after more than a year, he still hasn't revealed his whole past. Goku knows of him doing something bad and the Potara, but the earth-raised saiyan doesn't know anything else. Does anybody? For that matter, does Zamasu want to show them?
Slowly, after mulling about the idea in his head, Zamasu grimaces and decides that he should tell the people he is 'working with' about his past. Besides, he's grown rather fond of Goku over the past year, discovering a side to the saiyan he never thought possible. If anyone deserved to know Zamasu's past, it is Goku.
Sighing in resignation, the hybrid kai nods and says, "Yes, I believe I should tell you all of my past. However, we do have a Seer right here, and I am certain she can show you far better than I can."
The sorceress smiles warmly and nods. "Yes, I can show them your past." Her smile turns into a frown as the old sorceress begins chanting lowly. The water in the bowl distorts, once again turning into multiple colors. Eventually, the ripples stop and the water settles.
Inside is a green man with a large, white mohawk. He is talking with a man of the same race, only with light orange skin. Both of them are wearing ornamental robs and seem to be in a courtyard of sorts. Slowly, sounds begin to emerge from the bowl as the orange being speaks.
"Now then young Zamasu, today starts your training to become a Supreme Kai. Are you ready?" As the young Zamasu nods with a soft 'Hai', everyone turns to Zamasu in surprise. Saigo's eyes widen in utter shock. "A Kai?! You're a Kai?!"
Zamasu glances at Saigo with intrigue. "I'm surprised you know that term. Yes, I am a Kai, one from Universe 10. Or, I should say, I was."
While everyone ponders on that statement, the bowl shifts. This time, Zamasu is older, closer to the height and build of the current Zamasu. The green kai is seen bringing tea to Gowasu. Gowasu smiles pleasantly and says, "I love the tea you make for me. Your passion and emotions are so rich and thought out, it makes the tea delicious."
Normally, Zamasu would thank Gowasu, but this time he simply gives a short nod, his gaze focused on some unseeable item in the distance. Gowasu, thinking nothing of it, takes a drink of the tea. He frowns as he feels the raw bitterness inside. The liquid swirls, turning black, and the scene shifts.
This time Zamasu is talking to a short, chubby purple man similar in appearance to the earthly Buddha. Zamasu seems angry, his hand held up to the man's throat as the chubby man gulps nervously. "T-They are currently in the 7th and 6th universes… They have been recently used, so t-they you have to wait."
The past Zamasu growls in annoyance. "How long until they are active again?!"
Goku frowns as he watches the scene. "Hey Zamasu, what are you two talking about?"
Zamasu stares at the scene intensely, remembering that meeting vividly. "The Super Dragon Balls. A set of Dragon Balls scattered across this universe, Universe 7, and its partner universe, Universe 6. Because of their connection to the dragon-god Zalama, they can grant any wish you desire, no matter how great."
Vegeta's eyes gleam at this information, but no one notices. Soon, the scene shifts again. This time, Zamasu is seen standing over the dead body of his mentor, ki blade raging wildly in his hand. However, something is strange. The demeanor, clothes, and posture are the same, but the body is that of another being.
Goku's eyes widen in shock. "That's… me! But he is smiling like you do, Zamasu!"
Zamasu cringes at the sight of his old alias, Goku Black. "Back then, I was blinded by rage-fueled by you mortals' misdoings. I was blinded, not able to see my irrationale. It wasn't long before that rage bubbled to the surface and I tried to eradicate everything I deemed 'unworthy' by using your body, Goku." Zamasu frowns as Black's smile turns into a sickening grin. Seeing that grin, the evil in Black's eyes, truly tells Zamasu that he was a horrible being. "This is the start of my Zero Mortal Plan."
The water shifts and screams echo from the bowl. Black is seen once more, laughing loudly as he sends ki blast after ki blast down onto the city below. The planet is obviously Earth, and no one was stopping him.
Zamasu grimaces with every scream, every blast sent down to the city below. Watching the carnage, his 'justice' from another angle, he is disgusted by his actions. "I truly am irredeemable," Zamasu mutters.
The scene shifts and this time Black is once again the focal point of attention. However, Vegeta is also present! An eyebrow raises as Vegeta notices his counterpart with shining blue hair and adjusted saiyan armor.
Black laughs maniacally as he views the carnage his scythe brought to the space around him. Black raises his hands in a preaching pose, eyes wide and filled with madness. "This is the power of a true god," he screams. "No one can stop me!"
Suddenly, a flash of light appears. Two beings, a short blue child-like figure, and a female Kai, are seen. Soft words, too soft to be heard, are spoken between the blue child and female Kai. Eventually, two things stand out. Black is absolutely terrified, the kai-turned-saiyan bowing on his knees and trembling. The other is a statement.
The female Kai raises her hand and says, "As punishment for your actions, you will be sent back in time to learn of your mistakes!" With that, and a golden flash of light, Black disappears. The focus of the water zooms in slightly, and suddenly, the Kai looks at the focus. To Zamasu, it looks like she is looking straight at him. Chronoa smiles warmly and says, "Nice job Zamasu. You've done well." Then, the scene dissipates.
Everyone is left stunned. Zamasu, the person who killed Frieza, is such a despicable person! And yet… he seems so shook up, so hurt, that it's hard for anybody to be mad at him. Vegeta, knowing the lust of battle and conquest, even in a form that is 'for justice', can understand Zamasu, somewhat. Goku, he's known Zamasu for far too long to believe that the kai would regress back into what Black was.
Zamasu sighs, then nods. "Yes, there we go. That is my past in a very short summary. If you all despise me, it is understandable." Zamasu bows his head in shame.
Silence. No one speaks. Confused, Zamasu looks up. Saigo looks away, then mutters, "I think I speak for all of us when I say that it was quite a shock. However, you seem to truly regret your actions, and we can't blame you for trying to improve. We may forgive you, but we won't forget."
Stunned, Zamasu doesn't know what to say at first. Then, slowly, Zamasu smiles. "That is more than I can ask for. Thank, so much, all of you. It is truly an honor to have you all as comrades." For the first time in his life, Zamasu feels like he truly belongs with the people around him. He feels content, despite his friends being mortals.
Deep inside Zamasu, there's the sound of cracking glass, then a shatter.
Chronoa smiles widely, lowering her glowing hand. "Great job Zamasu. Seriously, you are doing so well." Far above, a golden, lightning-covered ring dissipates, its shards disappearing into the air.
Chronoa turns and smiles warmly. "Hey. The author is doing good on his schedule and should be able to update more often. The story is back online."
The Supreme Kai looks at the final ring floating above. "Only your God Ki is left, Zamasu. Can you find what you truly need in this universe? Can you succeed?"
Grinning, the Kai turns and waves. "We'll find out later. For now, thanks for reading! We hope you enjoyed!"
