Wind rushed past my ears. I felt calm. All was going great, except for the fact I was falling off a cliff. I guess Meirah thought it would be a clever idea to wake me up with her favorite sport, cliff throwing. Cliff throwing is a sport that dates to whenever she first invented it and is played like this: You push someone off the cliff, if they're asleep you throw them.

I remembered her saying all this last night, so as calmly as I could, I screamed my head off and panicked. Looking around I saw the cliff nearby, so I started angling myself towards it. As I got closer to the cliff, I had the greatest idea. I used my ice magic to start freezing the cliff face as I flew past it. I began moving my hands in front of me so that the ice will catch me. I started to rub against the ice as it crept closer to me. The ice sloped out and I started sliding around, eventually making to the bottom of the cliff.

Meirah stared at me with a pleased grin, but something else was hidden in her eyes. Was it, admiration? I started on my long trek back up the mountain but then my vision blurred and warped as I appeared next to her. The snow now had a lovely shade of green on top. I turned to her, with a now empty stomach, and stood there waiting. We had been training now for 6 months together and I still never know what she is going to do. She turned to me with a grimace on her face. I wanted to step backward, but I didn't want to step into the green snow.

"Do you remember what I said when we first met?" she asked.

"Um yeah, I think so." I replied. "You said that you'd help me but after that I needed to help you with your problem."

"Yeah. So, the next stage of your training will take you towards the realm of magic." She explained. "The last 6 months was mainly conditioning so that you'd be ready for this. So, grab my hand so we'll arrive at the same place when I teleport us."

I grasped her hand and my world shifted underneath my feet.

We appeared back at home. It was exactly how I left it. I guess no one wants a worn-down house that's centuries old. We went straight for the basement and grabbed all the old magic textbooks. She grabbed my hand and we teleported back to the cliff side. We both sat down and started going through the textbooks.

During my "Conditioning" Meirah taught me a bunch of basic knowledge about magic that I didn't know. She taught me about magicules and how they exist from living beings. I also learned that most magic is done by using the magicules around the magic user and that I have been drawing magicules from myself, which would explain why I did not progress that fast when I was first learning magic. She then taught me magic sense, which senses the surrounding magicules and can be used to see how strong an opponent is. I tried it out on her but was shocked to find out that she knew how to hide her magicules. I figured out that if I imagined that my magicules where like air and that I was lungs, then I could imagine that hiding and revealing my magicules would be like inhaling and exhaling air.

Thanks to all that training, I could really understand what was in the textbooks. I was easily able to finish ice magic and start on earth magic. I was just getting ready to start practicing when Meirah grabbed my book and flipped to another page. She showed me how everything has some special ability called unique skills. And showed me that a unique skill called predator that allows the user to absorb their opponent and copy their appearance and skills. I thought it looked cool so I asked how I could learn it, but Meirah just looked at me like I had heads on my hands. Turns out you cannot just "learn" a unique skill. You can get unique skills via skills like predator, or by evolving.

"I guess that means that I'd probably not be able to get any unique skills for a while." I sighed.

"Not entirely." Meirah said. "You being able to learn magic is a unique skill, but the magic you do learn are unique skills."

She was about to go on a complete lecture about unique skills, but I was bored so I just started walking away. She got angry and threw all the books at me, which reminded me that we need a better way to travel with them. I started heading out into the woods to hopefully find civilization, when I got attacked by a pack of wolves.

"Oh, cool dire wolves." Meirah said with an annoyingly calm tone.

"I don't care what they are. I want them to stop eating my arm" I yelled, shooting ice down the throat of the Dire wolf that had engulfed my entire arm with its mouth.

Meirah wasn't helping still, she was just standing around laughing at the wolf that got ice blasted. Eventually she helped, and we scared them off. We continued, always teleporting to the tops of mountains, looking for civilization, then leaving with only a nice green splatter to show we were there. Eventually we reached the Kingdom of the Dwarves, and where able to get through the gates with relative ease. We browsed around, grabbing small necessities, including some bags to carry our stuff in, food and water. We left and headed out to the nearby the plains and set up camp.

Night had just fallen when we were attacked. I couldn't tell what they were, they were wearing black, and it was dark out. Meirah threw the first bunch which launched one enemy sky high. That cause the rest to gang up on her while I fought off 3. Freezing one, knocking the other two, I was able to fight off my attackers and went to go help Meirah, but she was asleep again. Turns out she took care of her group easily. I moved all their unconscious bodies away from our camp so we could sleep in peace. When we woke up, they were gone, so we got right back into training. When night fell again, they were back.

We beat them up and went to sleep, and the cycle repeated the next day. And the next day. Then throughout the week. Continued through the rest of the month. This wake up, train, get attacked, then sleep cycle continued for an entire year. During that year we found out it was Segora that was sending these goons after us. I felt betrayed, but also knew that I shouldn't considering what he said at Falmuth. After another month of this I was done, I was sick and tired of getting attacked every night, so I walked over to Meirah and spoke.

"All right Meirah! We're packing up and we're heading straight to Segora. I'm confident in my abilities and I think I can beat him."

Meirah seemed stunned by my aggressive tone. She frowned then looked down.

"There's something you should see. I teleported to a nearby town by myself and saw someone handing out the news, so I grabbed one and..."

She trailed off, which left me worried. I went into the shelter we built for tonight and grabbed the newspaper.

"No, No, No, No, No, No!" I kept muttering to myself.

"Segora, he went through with his plan." Meirah mumbled. "He attacked and killed two kingdom's rulers. He did attack Dwargon, but he failed thanks to the Pegasus knights. I don't think you're strong enough to go up against him."

I thought about what she was saying, but then it struck me.

"He had an army!" I exclaimed. "That doesn't mean he's gotten that strong! We can sneak in, and I'll defeat him!"

"But what about getting out? How would we be able to get out once you've beaten him."

"hmmmm. I know, while I fight him you charge up your teleportation so we can go super far away." I spoke.

"But they could just trace the magic." she replied.

"Not if you have enough time to charge up. If you have enough time to charge for long distance and generate a hiding cloak, then we can get out without any goons coming after us."

Meirah seemed like she was warming up to the idea. Finally, she agreed to it, and we teleported off to his last attack, at the Kingdom of Ingrassia.

We arrived in the midst of ruins and fire. The entire castle of was either burning or destroyed. We wondered around, trying to see if we could find a trace of magic to follow. Eventually we got tired and started searching for a good spot to setup camp. Of course, Segora's goons came after us, and of course we beat them. But then Meirah had the great idea, we wait for them to wake up and we follow them instead of looking for excess magic to trace. They teleported off so we figured where they went and figured that if we move the destination a bit off then we could arrive somewhere no one would notice.

We arrived inside of a cave; I could tell just by using magic sense that we were extremely far down. We started sneaking around, checking rooms along the way. Eventually we came upon a large room that stretched to the roof of the cavern. We walked into the room, unsure of what to do. We had checked all other rooms at this point, so we had to check this one even more thoroughly. We kept going until Meirah noticed a room to our left, inside was...

"It's him!" I gasped.

Segora was right inside that other room, sitting on a throne talking to some of his cronies. I got into a fighting stance, leaned forward, and pushed backwards with my back leg. Readying myself, I then launched at Segora and with a flash of white my twin blades were unsheathed and were about to cut Segora's throat when I realized something. I couldn't do this. I still see him as a friend.

I was about to flip over him and rebound off the walls to escape, but Segora was up and facing me with his sword drawn. He deflected my attack making me fall to the side and slide across the floor. I got up and immediately had a sword at my throat. I stomped my foot and everyone around me got thrown around due to the ground beneath them rupturing and cracking. I noticed Meirah in the corner of my eye, in the large cavern outside the throne room. I could tell she was already charging up because I saw the magicules flowing into her. I rushed at Segora and our blades met. I saw that Segora was now using a pitch-black claymore with a line of blue energy flowing on the inside. I also noticed that his right eye was now a piercing blue, the same color on his sword.

We dodged, ducked, slashed, and stabbed, but neither one of us had an advantage over the other. When I realized this, I immediately threw a blast of ice into his face, knowing this would throw him off. Except it didn't, he just replied with a headbutt which stunned me. I got knocked to the floor but then rolled over as soon as I hit the ground, which was lucky since he was right about to stab me where I was. The ground cracked from the impact of his sword striking it, causing pieces to fall into... a bottomless void.

I started freaking out, I didn't want to fall into that and knew that because Meirah was charging her teleportation, that if she got attacked that either she wouldn't be able to get out or she would be forced to use teleportation, leaving me stranded. I knew I had to step up, and...kill...Segora. The thought itself made me sick to my stomach, but I knew I couldn't spare him. He was too strong at this point. So, I jumped back into battle, thinking of a way to end Segora, get to Meirah, and get out of here. After fighting for another 30 minutes, I realized that one of those steps wouldn't be possible. I had to sacrifice one of the steps to complete the other two. So, I chose the more heroic action of the bunch. I stabbed the ground and summoned a tremendous amount of magic in order to break the ground into millions of pieces.

"Get out of here!" I yelled, hoping Meirah could hear me over the rumble of the cave collapsing. "Save yourself! Don't worry about me!"

Meirah seemed to understand what I was doing, so I went through with my plan and obliterated the ground beneath me and sent me, Segora and anyone else in that throne room straight into the void. As I fell, I could feel myself getting ripped apart by some magic. It wasn't bloody, it didn't hurt. It was just happening. I sighed with relief knowing that Meirah would at least get out of there safely and that Segora would no longer be able to ruin the world. I closed my eyes and drifted off, hoping for something cool to reincarnate into.
