Experiment Time! Super Saiyan Potential!

Once Zamasu left the group to their own devices, Vegeta turned toward the training room, telling Toga to follow. Curious, Goku followed them as well.

Inside the training room, Vegeta turns to Toga and smirks wickedly. "Alright. Now that we have free time and aren't worrying over finding this ship, we can really begin our training." Vegeta looks around at the metal walls. "Although, I wish the ship's interior was sturdier. We can't go all out here."

Goku looks around as well, then pauses. "We can try to go super saiyan."

Vegeta looks at Goku sharply, his eyes narrowed. "What?"

Goku grins and rubs the back of his head. "Well, Zamasu told me how to go super saiyan based on what he did on Namek. I haven't been able to try yet, but now seems like a good time!"

Suddenly, Goku's shirt is grabbed tightly by the prince. The earth-raised saiyan blinks in confusion at Vegeta's wide eyes. "Kakarot! tell me, now!"

Blinking a few more times, Goku grins widely, sweat trailing down his forehead. "W-Well, you seem eager. Can you let go of me, please?"

Vegeta looks down at his hands, then suddenly backs away. He looks down and clenches his hands tightly. "You saw nothing." Goku grins a little mischievously and nods.

Goku begins stretching, and as he does so, he says, "Alright. Zamasu said he felt some deep anger when he transformed. However, he also felt something else. Some sort of energy in his body? I don't remember. He said it was in his back."

Vegeta stares at Goku incredulously. "What? His back? What the hell does that mean?"

Goku shrugs. "I dunno. Maybe some trigger for super saiyan is in the back?"

Vegeta frowns deeply, closing his eyes and crossing his arms. As the prince thinks, Toga tries to turn and look at her back. Goku tries doing the same thing, turning around in circles like a bumbling baboon.

The prince opens his eyes and sees his protege and rival spinning like ballerinas and growls. "Kakarot! Toga! Quite dancing, you idiots!" Goku and Toga freeze, staring at Vegeta in surprise. Vegeta shakes his head, a soft grimace on his face. He then looks at Goku and says, "Come here Kakarot. Let me see your back. We might find something."

Nodding, Goku quickly takes off his shirt, revealing his toned torso. Toga, as she IS a young, teenage girl, blushes a deep red. Vegeta ignores his student's plight and begins looking over Goku's back, trying to see if something is different compared to most humanoid beings. Vegeta hums as he searches, then scowls in annoyance. "I can't find anything…"

Goku frowns and looks up. "Maybe try energy sense? It is an energy thing, after all."

Vegeta nods, accepting the idea. Vegeta's hands light up with energy and he slowly moves them across Goku's back, using his ki sense through his hands for better feedback. Vegeta's eyes close and he frowns as the information pours into his mind, giving him all the details of Goku's energy network. Just as Vegeta is about to give up finding anything abnormal, he feels something. Vegeta raises his hands, up to just below Goku's neck, and frowns deeply.

Right in the middle of Goku's back, just below his neck and shoulders, is a deviation in the usual energy flow. Vegeta hovers his hands in this area, taking in the feeling of this energy. Without even realizing it, Vegeta begins to speak out loud. "Your energy here is almost bubbling. It's slight, and it's hard to find without looking for deviations in the energy system, but it is there. Kakarot, try focusing your energy right below your neck and shoulders, where my hand is touching."

Goku nods and closes his eyes, concentrating his energy on the point Vegeta tells him. He frowns as he feels something there, something that he never noticed before. Goku cautiously begins to prod at this new sensation, feeling it out with his energy. It begins to bubble even more, flowing into his energy coils. It's so strong! If he does that just a bit more, maybe he can-

"Hey, guys, what are you all… doing…" Cheelai, having just entered the room, is met with the sight of a shirtless Goku having his back felt up by Vegeta, a cherry red Toga in the corner. All three inhabitants look at Cheelai in surprise, right before Vegeta is blown away by a sudden burst of energy from a startled Goku.

Cheelai laughs loudly as Vegeta picks himself up, the prince growling in annoyance. "Oh, shut up! We were doing experiments on trying to go super saiyan."

Once Cheelai's laughter dies down a bit, she asks, "W-What's a super saiyan?"

Vegeta walks over to Goku, who is luckily fine from the random explosion. "A legendary form that has only been seen by saiyan kind 1000 years ago. More importantly, Kakarot! What was that explosion?!"

Goku shakes his head. "I don't know! I think it was that weird energy. I think Cheelai's interruption caused me to lose focus."

Vegeta frowns and glares at Cheelai, who steps back with a sheepish grin. Turning back to Goku, Vegeta says, "Why don't you try it again?"

Goku frowns. "That's the problem. The energy is really dim now. Whatever I did seemed to use it up. I might have to wait for it to come back."

Vegeta tsks in annoyance. "Fine. I guess I'll try it then." The prince closes his eyes and begins focusing his energy at the exact same spot Goku had. His focus heightens when he feels a strangeness to his energy, but that focus turns into annoyance as he realizes that he barely has any! Vegeta growls and mutters, "Why do I have so much less than Kakarot?!"

Vegeta strains to try and use this energy, but it refuses to budge. It was like trying to grab only a few select grains of sand on a beach. Nearly impossible. Vegeta lets out a sigh and lets his energy recede. "Damn! I don't have enough energy to pull it off."

Goku frowns in concern. "And we don't know how to get more either. Is it training, or something you are born with?"

Vegeta crosses his arms and frowns. "Considering it is ki we are talking about, it could very well be both of those things. Or even a simple change in spirit. We can't know for sure unless we found someone spiritually adept." Vegeta turns to his student. "Toga! As our final saiyan, you need to try as well. Maybe you can pull it off."

Toga nods and sets herself in a horse stance. She found out on Hera that she can concentrate on energy easier this way.

The young teen focuses her energy on the same spot she saw Vegeta touch on Goku's back. She grunts as she feels the strange energy make itself known, flowing into her body. She grits her teeth and tries to harness the energy, do something with it.

From the outside, no one sees anything but Toga's grit teeth and her exertion. Vegeta frowns as he feels a power spike. His eyes narrow as Toga's aura appears for a single instance. "That's odd…" Vegeta could've sworn he saw Toga's aura turn bright green.

Toga's aura begins shifting in color, slowly transitioning from the basic white most people have to the golden glow of super saiyan. Her hair begins to rise, spiking as it does so. Toga sweats immensely, heat coming off of her in waves. She yells and explodes.

Everyone is sent backward by the sudden explosion, then yells in surprise as they are suddenly yanked forward again. Everyone collides and falls into a big heap in the middle of the floor, Toga at the bottom. Despite her sudden exhaustion, she isn't amused. "Hey! Get off me!"

Suddenly, Zamasu enters the room, looking at a small clipboard. "I heard some commotion and figured I would come to get you all before anything got destroyed." Zamasu looks up, takes in the sight of the saiyan pile, and raises a single eyebrow. "Do I want to know?"

"NO!"

Zamasu smirks widely at the collective response. He looks down at his clipboard again and says, "We should be at Vampa in a few more days. Get any last-minute training in and be prepared for landing. We don't know what we'll find there."

Everyone nods, then slowly begin to pick themselves up from the pile. Vegeta helps his protege up, noticing her struggle to do it herself. "It seems the transformation attempt took a lot out of you. We will need to build up your energy levels."

Toga nods, struggling to stay on her feet. Vegeta looks at those present and says, "Keep training. As Zamasu said, we don't know what we'll find there." Everyone nods in agreement and leaves to do their own thing.

As Vegeta goes to his own room for personal training, he frowns deeply. He's been having a bad feeling all day, and it hasn't gone away. As he enters his room, he looks out into the depths of space and ponders. "Just what does Vampa and this Kenyo have to offer?"

The book closes with a fond smile on Chronoa's face. "Such an amazing dynamic! I can't believe those five work so well together!" She frowns a bit. "But I do wonder when the tension will start. People like Vegeta and Goku simply don't go long without getting into an argument."

Chronoa smiles again and turns to you. "Hello! Sorry about the length this one took. The author got swamped with work in college, so he couldn't write much. Also, the chapter is a bit short, but it is the last filler chapter before the real action starts!"
