One Piece Emperors New Clothes

(A/N: I own nothing and this is a what if story based off of nyd-needs-cuddles tumblr story of the same name, Emperors New Clothes, and I do have permission to use it! So be warned of Major AU some OOC some bashing and other fun stuff!)

When they got to the wedding venue, the Sanji Retrieval Squad had missed the wedding. Apparently the Big Mom pirates had moved the time up or had always planned for it to be on a different day just to catch the Straw Hats off guard. And it had worked.

It was night time and the wedding was long since past and the venue devoid of everyone but the retrieval team and the people collapsed in a bloody heap on one of the table. They looked like Sanji, one of them was that pink haired poison woman they had met on their way here and the other was that stupid green haired guy that looked like Sanji but acted far too different.

Luffy could tell with his Haki without even looking that the three younger men and the one woman were still barely alive, but that older man with the metal helmet and the blond hair was gone and had been for some time now.

"Looks like Mama and the others did manage to end the Germa 66 after all. Wiwiwiwi." Brulee, their captive who had been the main reason they could sneak around so easily even with or despite the late horu, said laughing a bit as she looked at the apparent Germa. Although Luffy could tell she wasn't really happy about it, sure she wasn't exactly sad or anything but she just…didn't seem to care personally one way or the other. It was just business to her.

"Brook! Carrot! Help me with these wounds! We can still save these four!" Chopper however had rushed to the four immediately and was already calling for the other two to help him as he treated their wounds to the best of his ability. Luffy however had set Brulee down under Pedro's watchful gaze and walked over to the alter.

This was where Sanji was forced to marry someone. Where his freedom was taken from him. Where he was used as mere currency.

This was the very spot where Big Mom crossed the line.

"Nami." Luffy's voice wasn't it's usual joyful or jovial tone as his hat shadowed his eyes while he stood there and stared at the alter. At the place where his cook had been shoved into a cage full of sweets and food that Luffy wouldn't ever even glance at, and he should know after all. He had nearly lost one brother to a similar golden cage full of loneliness and spite and loathing and-

Nami was beside him instantly and on high alert, her baton out and ready to summon hurricanes or lightning should the need arise.

After all it was very rare for Luffy to be so serious. Even after everything

"Where?" Luffy didn't have to specify who or what he meant, Nami understood immediately.

The orange haired navigator took in the steel line on his back, her Captains back (not Luffy's not right now. He'd be Luffy again once the threat was gone and past and they had their Cook back on the Sunny. He'd be Luffy again when he smiled and was laughing.), and she relaxes a little as she felt a comforting weight fall on her shoulders. It was similar to a protective blanket, to the weight of a simple straw hat being placed on her head as her captain strode in front of her to face her nightmares head on and free her from hell.

She didn't have Zoro's innate understanding of their captain, or Robin's intelligent observation, or even Usopp's easy camaraderie with him. She had none of those but she didn't really need them.

After all she is his navigator, she is the one who guided him and his anger and let him loose.

It's not raining this time, there's no Aqua Laguna to run away from… but one of their Nakama is missing, having been taken away from their home, and if she had to be the one to set the World Government Flag on fire this time…then she would without hesitation.

Just like fearful but loyal Usopp who usually trembled at the knees at any new island or unknown ship near them but had stood strong and proud beside their captain with his massive Kabuto and had taken out the flag without question or hesitation after being given the order.

So she simply nods her head.

"Follow me." She said, already turning and knowing without having to look or even think about it that he was right behind her. Usually he picked out where they went next and they followed the log pose when he didn't feel like picking out a certain path. Usually he just picked a direction and she had to be the one to navigate them safely to the next island.

But this time, she was the one picking the direction. She was the one Navigating him to their Cook in the midst of a Yonko's home base.

She knew that they all, the entire crew every single one, would give up their lives or dreams for him without hesitation. But she knew probably better than anyone but Robin that it was harder to come back after turning him away. Although once everything was said and done and the enemy defeated and the darkness plaguing them dispelled…he would always welcome them back with open arms and a smile on his face. No bitterness, no lingering doubt, no thought at all of how they had betrayed him.

Just a big smile, a bigger hug, and an entire world of warmth and light from the gangly captain with a heart too big for anyone to ever compare.

He stopped to pick up Brulee who even seemed to sense something was different now and she kept her mouth shut. She wasn't smiling, but she wasn't outright frowning either as she stared at Luffy in confusion and curiosity.

Nami wondered what was going through her head for a moment. Seeing this supernova not just defeat one of the three Sweet Commanders but also now seeing him in a much more different light, seeing the captain he really was.

But it didn't matter. What mattered right now was that Brulee wasn't struggling or fighting them anymore and in fact she was even somewhat willing as she let them back into the mirror world without complaint, all the while her eyes locked onto Luffy who was easily carrying her with one arm while Pedro stayed back to help Chopper, Brook, and Carrot with the off color Sanji's.

They'd probably take them back to the ship so that Chopper had access to most of his medical supplies…but that wasn't the concern right now.

Right now Nami had to guide her captain to their wayward cook and then guide his rage to the Empress herself.

The Straw Hat Captain was going to war.
