Shinso

Tarot rested her chin in the palm of her hand as she tapped her pencil on her notebook. She had reached the climax of the book she had been writing and hadn't been able to get it to come out the right way. Whatever she wrote it ready flat and cliche.

She gripped her pencil when familiar giggles broke through her concentration.

"He's so hot! My dreamy Shoto! I could just kiss him all day!" Tamara said.

"Midoriya is the guy for me!" Isa said. "He's so cute and sweet!"

"I think Iida is the best," Ami added. "He's so smart!"

"Uh huh." Tamara waggled her eyebrows. "That wasn't his smarts he was shaking during his fights."

The girls busted up laughing.

Tarot turned her eyes to the giggling girls. For three years she had to listen to their nonsense about boys and who they like. Normally she would roll her eyes and tune them out. But the names they said rang a distant bell in her head. They had been talked about before in her class but she couldn't place why. She stared to reach for her phone to look up the names but the bell rang. Class was about to start again. She would have to wait until school was over to search the names.

Back at home Tarot lifted the top of her laptop. She typed in the three names the girls in her class had said. Tons of articles and videos of UA's sports festival popped up in her feed.

She huffed through her nose. That's why they sounded familiar. Those three guys were in the finals of the sports festival a few months ago.

Not feeling like doing her homework she clicked on a video of one fights. It was a boy name Izuku Midoriya against...

Her eyebrows rose. The boy Midoriya was fighting looked like a villain with those dark circles under his eyes and his untamed purple hair. But it was his quirk that really caught her attention. This Shinso guy was taunting Midoriya. When the green haired boy finally spoke he froze in his charge against the purple haired boy. He then turned and started to head for the edge of the ring.

Tarot tapped her finger on her desk.

This Shinso guy... his quirk of brainwashing, or whatever it was, made him come off as a villain. He could easily use it against people and rob them blind. It would be a great quirk to have. If her dad learned about it then he would ask this boy to become one of their members. But since he was going to the top hero school in the country, probably even the world, she doubted he would join a villain's crew.

Either way, she couldn't shake the strange desire of wanting to meet him.

Tarot sighed, for the thousandth time, as she ran her eyes over the list in her hand. She hated shopping. Oh how she hated shopping. Some of the worst people could come out while roaming the isles of any store. And some workers of stores weren't very nice either.

If she didn't have to do it, she wouldn't go shopping at all. But she didn't want to starve. Her dad was always too busy to do it. And her brother was too lazy. So it was either starve or shop.

"Maybe I should start shopping online and have everything delivered," Tarot mumbled to herself, her eyes still on her list. "I wonder how quick delivers would be, especially on cold things like mil-Oof." She was cut on by a solid force. As she fell to the ground she heard a rip followed by several cans bouncing on the sidewalk. "Hey! Watch where you're going!"

"You were the one looking down instead of where you were walking."

Tarot growled. She brought her eyes up to the one who crashed into her and froze. What were the chances she would crash into him?

Shinso tilted his head. "Are you hurt?"

Something tapped at Tarot's chest.

"Something wrong?"

"Uh, no." Tarot pulled her eyes away from him and started gathering her spilled goods. She reached for her bag to find a long rip down the side. "Just great."

"Here. Use this." Shinso held out a navy colored canvas bag.

"No, it's yours. Keep it."

"I don't need it. They were passing them out at the market I went to." Shinso shoved the bag at her.

Tarot wanted to refuse, but she had no other way to carry her stuff home. And the next store was a couple blocks away. "Fine. Uh, thanks." She continued to pick her stuff up but paused when Shinso held a can to her. "What are you doing?"

"Helping. Something people usually do in situations like this," he said.

"Right. Thanks." She took the can and shoved it in the bag. With the last item picked up she stood. "Well, thanks again. Bye."

Before he could reply she darted around him and dashed off.

...

"About time you got back! I'm starving!" Rune grabbed one bag from her and started digging through it. "Since when do you use reusable bags?"
"If you were that hungry you could have done the shopping yourself. And the bag..." Tarot trailed off as she placed the other two bags on the counter. The guy who gave this to her was training to be a hero. They would be enemies. Were enemies.

"Something wrong?"

Tarot shook her head. "It's nothing. Just some random guy who bumped into me. My sack ripped so he gave me this one."

Rune started at her for a moment before shrugging and continuing his rutting through the food.
